Love this place, we ate here twice on our two day vacation. Super friendly staff, amazing salsas and breakfast..highly recommend.

Great Mexican food with homemade style tortillas. The service is great as well. Won't disappoint.

Let me preface this by saying I have never written a review for a restaurant on Yelp. This little cafe/restaurant is the most surprising little gem in a tiny Texas town! We came for breakfast, ordered coffee, and got not just coffee, but Mexican coffee, which had hints of cinnamon and a light sweetness -- absolutely fantastic. We ordered barbacoa tacos, tamales, and a soup that were all authentic and incredibly good. We ordered churros and they made them fresh for us! Service is very friendly; the owner takes the time to explain every menu item you ask about, and the server went out of her way to make you feel welcome. The cafe is authentic Mexican: go to the counter, order, eat, and then pay. It's so good, so worth it, you will not be disappointed. read more

Went there for dinner tonight with my husband and son. My first impression was as if we just drove into a ghost town, but a cute one . My husband had the beef and chicken chilaquiles and a barbacoa taco. Being the foodie he is, he thought it was delicious, especially the barbacoa. Since i am a vegetarian they let me know they can turn any dish into vegetarian with meat substitute. They recommended the Vegetarian Huarache with home made "soyrizo". By far, the best vegetarian dish I have ever had at a mexican restaurant in my entire life! The girls at the front were super friendly and the service was fast even though it was busy. It took us about 25-30 minutes from our house but definitely worth the drive! We'll be going back! Gotta get churros for desert.. delish! read more

Wow! Amazing Mexican food here in little Venus, TX, located in the town square. They have vegetarian and vegan options, fresh juices and Mexican bakery items. My eyes, mouth and stomach are singing it's praises. read more

The absolute worst. I've never had horrible Mexican foo but that changed today. The chip, that you pay fo, were like a rock. Hot sauce seemed more like a Buffalo wing sauce. Beef nachos cam out as fajita nacho. The meat was too tough to eat. You stand in line to order in this cramped little area and when the cashier got a phone call we just had to wait until she was done. Have to admit I was warned by a stranger who was outside but I figured I'd try it anyway. I'll start listening to strangers. read more

Authentic Mexican food, does not get any better! El huarache is where it's at, but you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Strangely enough, their sweet tea is the best in Ellis County too! Amazing desserts, don't skip the flan or chocolate chunk cookies - their bakery is A+!! read more

Just discovered this place and we love it! Everything is very fresh. Breakfast served all day, lunch menu, bakery, and fresh squeezed juices. For the starters: Chips are crispy and not too greasy Three kinds of salsa that are sooo flavorful and some with a hefty kick Tortillas are made in-house and, steamy, and hearty Mexican coffee is sweet and cinnamony in clay mugs The mains: The chicken enchiladas (pictured) are to die for. They weren't all too spicy but very flavorful and not overly greasy or saucy. I normally don't go for refried beans but these were excellent. Obviously fresh. The rice was fluffy and tasty as well My friend also got the eggs and they were some of the best restaurant eggs she's had. Definitely coming here again. read more

08/15/18 3:00pm Thursday. I will start by stating that these people are so friendly and attentive. We were greeted promptly when we walked through the door. We took a look at the menu and settled on tamale stuffed rellenos with rice and beans. They come with homemade tortillas. I choose a two enchilada plate, one cheese with red sauce and one chicken with green sauce. They came quickly, as we waited regulars came and purchased some cookies, picked up to go orders. Our food comes and the plates were artful and beautiful. What care was given to the presentation, I almost hated to eat my food. My red enchilada was kind of flavorless. The green enchilada sauce was spicy but not too much. Great flavor but the chicken was dry. The beans and rice where average and a bit bland as well. Bummer. The rellenos were a let down as well, same thing flavorless. Not sure we will try this place again. The service was amazing, friendly and attentive. That may bring us back to try it again once more. read more

I must say, I do not give 5 stars too often but this place is just REMARKABLE! When I first walked in, I could not help but notice the exposed brick wall. It added such a warm and cozy feeling to my visit. The waiter/waitresses were so attentive to our table, always offering refills on our drinks, not allowing our chips to run out, and constantly asking (but not in an annoying way) if everything was okay or if we needed anything. Now obviously I am here to rate the food so here it goes.. I alway rate a restaurant by their chips and salsa. I feel that some restaurants focus so much on food that they don't really care about their chips and salsa... THESE WERE DELICIOUS! They gave our table all 3 salsas, two greens, and one red which was very spicy but so freaking good. The green salsa's were also on point and did not lack flavor at all.. Horchata- I don't usually order horchata but for some reason I wanted to try it out. It was so good, not overly sweet, and it just taste so fresh. I got a few refills that morning, for sure! My husband got the Jamaica and that too was delish! It tasted so fresh and he got a few refills on that as well! FOOD! (sorry for the half eaten food pictures, I was STARVING and could not help myself) I ordered the pozole, which was not on the menu but I just asked so make sure you always ask too!! It was chicken pozole and let me tell you..... it was so hearty and had very good flavors. I definitely was able to taste all the different spices, chicken flavor, the lemon, and whatever else that was in there. My mouth is watering as I am typing. I also got the chilaquiles. For those of you who don't know what this is.... It is a Mexican breakfast dish that is made up of tortillas, salsa, beans, cream, I got chicken, and a few other things. If you've never tried, I really recommend this dish! My husband got one but with steak and man it was so good! I actually enjoyed his more than mine but both were stellar! ASK FOR AN EGG ON TOP!! :p I also got the barbacoa tacos which was cooked to perfection! The flavors were so rich and with the lemon and onions on top, it just gave it a crunch that was so good! At the end of the breakfast, my husband got a steak quesadilla last minute and it was so worth it! The flavors all just combine perfectly. I recommend this place 100%. The menu is short and sweet but i guarantee you will love the food. It is authentic and well worth trying! Next time I visit, I definitely want to try the chile rellenos and tamales. I'm sure I will be returning soon :) read more

Decided to take a date night adventure to a small town. Casa Jacaranda popped up as a local favorite so we checked it out. Cozy room where you place your order and then find a seat. We ordered a few pastries while we waited. Highly recommend their Texas sized chocolate chip cookie! Wait staff were young but very kind and attentive. We ate the Chile Relleno and Chicken Quesadilla. Both dishes were delicious. Their green salsa is delightful. Even the beans and rice were top notch! Strongly recommend. read more

The Authentic Mexican food was delicious. Pan dulce was fresh. Tortillas were homemade.

The food has changed and the staff has little customer service. Not the quality in the taste as when they first opened in Venus, Texas.

We are tracking from Texas to colorado and we stopped at a friend's house in this area. If you are looking for fresh Mexican food and this place did not disappoint! I have come to love mole and the taste of it was on point. The atmosphere was cozy and bright. I even think the owner came over to say hi and ask how our meal was... the only negative thing I have to say is we ordered chips and queso and never got the queso... BUT like I said before the green salsa made up for it! read more

Fantastic!! We were 10 miles away and had to come see what it was all about. We were not disappointed!! The service, the flavors, the decor... all spot on. You can tell this place is loved by the folks who dine here, and it is popular!! We had the street tacos and they were perfectly seasoned... something so many Mexican restaurants in Dallas haven't figured out. We will be coming back, the flight of salsas was too good to not have again some day. read more

We love dining here. The staff is friendly, the food is delicious. My favorite dish is the barbacoa street tacos. I also love the huarache. The tostada plat is also great. I LOVE their chips and homemade salsas. The chips are thicker than many places, but very yummy. I also love a few things I would not expect, such as their cappuccino, and the yummy baked goods. They have this little cinnamon sugar coated cookie, which I think is a wedding style cookie, and it is such a treat. Their chocolate chunk cookies are decadent. I also love the raspberry thumbprint cookies. Seating is limited - it is a small, cute cafe. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. They have decorated it very nicely. We always enjoy going and eat there at least once a month now. read more

Their chile relleno is soooo good. It's got to be the best chile relleno I've had in years. Definitely recommend this place.

I've always heard great reviews of this place. They were absolutely right! When you walk in you have to order at the counter and pay. Then you go find a table and they take care of the rest. We had chips and queso that were delicious. The sauces that were served were excellent. The best part was the food. I had enchiladas and my husband had Barbacoa tacos. They were absolutely delicious. We even had a few of the bakery items that they Had in their bakery section. I highly recommend this place, it was perfect. read more

We are so blessed to have this gem nearby. The food is simply amazing. Don't pass on their excellent Americano coffee too! I normally go with the beef enchiladas or nachos. My daughter loves the quesadillas. The red and green salsa is so good. They have some great pastries too. The service is good. Sometimes a little too good as you'll have three people within minutes asking if you need anything. Better to have too good of service than none I suppose. The staff have gotten to know my daughter's name and everybody says hi when we are in. The pricing is good for what you get. Some people get confused when they come in, sitting and waiting to be served. You have to go to the middle of the place and order, then take a number to your table. read more

Ok first things first.. The white queso is so good I could drink a glass of it. lol. The guacamole was good but nothing particularly special about it, won't order again. The chile relleno was extremely delicious but employee recommended the shrimp which I do not recommend, just a little weird in this dish. I also had enchiladas with cheese and I was surprised that these were not better tasting. It's very attractive to add lettuce on the top of enchiladas but it adds nothing, in fact it only takes away from the dish... not enough cheese inside the enchilada. Rice was good but the beans were amazing. The barbacoa tacos were decent but definitely needed some avocado or something else, I've had better. Overall it's a great place but I will order a little differently next time. My friends had food that they said was good but it's possible they were just being nice, i'm not sure. :) read more

After a conference week in Vegas this hidden gem spot was just what the doc ordered! Mexican food is a go to for sure but authentic and a spot that was created with every detail inspired from the heart is so rare! From the lil outdoor eatery, dining, ordering and bakery areas lies so much articulate choices put in place for the eyes and soul to capture. And then came the food.... menudo served on Saturday and both on Sunday were an absolute bonus! Each bite with flavorful spices. The handmade corn & flour tortillas were so unexpected...like personalized gifts We of course were so intrigued by menu we also tried the burritos barbacoa & bean w/chorizo both so delish! And our meal wouldn't be complete w/o the bakery tasting we completed the day with a moist & tasty concha & a cream cheese turnover which was oh so flaky!!! And we'll never leave without the CAFE MEXICANO read more

Watch out world! This place is amazing!! It's a small family owned authentic Mexican restaurant where they hand make all their food- including chips and salsa (they have multiple choices of salsa). I had the chicken chile relleno with verde/queso blanco. They topped it with crema and cojita cheese. It was the best chile relleno I've had! My husband ordered the chicken quesadillas and we're certain the combo of the delicious tortillas and the tasty chicken make this dish a winner! They put so much love and effort into their authentic dishes that you can taste it. They also have a bakery inside, but we were too full to try anything.
