I was super skeptical about this place as well but YOU HAVE TO EAT HERE. It's somewhat located in the middle of nowhere. We drove through a lot of farmland to get here while driving south from Dallas, but it was worth driving nine miles off the highway to eat here. We came here at around nine am for breakfast. There were only two other parties in the restaurant when we ate. They don't serve lunch until ten am, but they serve breakfast all day. Super authentic food with a cute atmosphere. We ordered the huevos rancheros, the chilaquiles, and the huevos a la mexicana with chorizo. All were amazing. The chilaquiles comes on chips which I wasn't expecting, but still tasted great. There was just the right amount of spicy. There are also vegetarian options for many of the dishes which they indicate on the menu. If you have the chance to stop by here, definitely come. The reviews are in! Went to Casa and ordered to go with the SUPER friendly MONICA. (Told you I'd mention your name girl). This place was PACKED. It was Friday, after all. People looked super happy. The music wasn't trying too hard (not loud). But just enough to let you know where you were. It's hard to find a gem. This place looks like a gem. It's really hidden behind the chain Whataburger and Subway. I was impressed that while I was waiting for my to go a young man asked me if I wanted a water and later a young lady asked too! NICE. Who wld of thought you cld find this place in VENUS of all places! This is not Northside or Southside FW... Still the 4 street tacos with carne asada were good and Great for the $7.99. Go see Monica. As you've read from other reviews it did not disappoint. I had the tamale plate. They were very fresh and you can choose from about four ways to top it. I got the red sauce. It's not a "chili" like some places but authentic red chili sauce. The chips and white queso are delicious. Our first cup of guacamole was really good, second one was a little heavy on onion for my taste but some people love onion. Chili relleno, street tacos and beef huaraches were very good. The tres leeches cake was fabulous. The flan was just ok and I'm a huge flan fan. It is byob so bring your cooler! The staff is so sweet. read more

The best Mexican Restaurant I have ever been to! I am from Indiana, so I am by no means an expert on Mexican Restaurants. But Yelp lead me to this gem. There is a reason that this small restaurant in a very small Texas town with no sign and no other significant business around holds a 5 star rating. It is amazing! Authentic Mexican food that is super fresh and full of flavor. Most of us got street tacos since it was lunch. The tacos as they came were amazing, but then they brought out the different sauces to add. All were good, but the guacamole salsa took the prize! Yes, guacamole salsa! Whaaaaat. This little gem in Venus is freakin awesome. And I don't say that lightly, having had bomb Mexican food all my life. Not sure what to expect walking up, but sent via the rave reviews, we ordered some enchiladas, fajitas, chips & salsa, and horchata. It was all great Actually....those are the best enchiladas I've ever had. Wow. The enchiladas have this amazing sauce on top that is like a cross between Mexican crema and melty cheese. It's amazing. The housemade salsa and red sauce, also delicious. Beautiful, crunchy chips. Seasoning on the fajitas was on point and the horchata! Cinnamon goodness. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was pretty quick to come out. They also have a case of baked goods that looked great. Sadly, I don't live nearby but if I did, I'd come here ALL the time. From Dallas I was visiting with my husband the area for the weekend and saw this place recommended when we looked for vegetarian friendly restaurants in the area since my husband is vegetarian. We weren't expecting many options let alone tasty ones but decided to give this place a try. Totally worth it, the best Mexican food even compared to the many in the city! Everything we had was fresh and so flavorful, plus not heavy and the portions are just right so you don't leave feeling like you need to go to sleep. And for vegetarians they have some great options, my husband loved the El Huarache with soy chirizo. We liked it so much we came again! Ok, I was a little skeptical based on all of the big stars for this place so I just HAD to try it to see. Let me tell you what....this place is LEGIT. 3 of us had a mix of tamales, nachos and enchiladas and all was amazing! They don't skimp on the queso/crema and you're NOT served some lava-hot plate just out of the oven that was dressed hours ago and reheated to order. This place assembles each order as it comes in and you can watch! Open kitchen! Service was very warm, friendly and sincere. In the back of the house is a small bakery featuring freshly made pastries and baked goods. They had a sample of a cinnamon-cookie on the counter and it was really really good. I could launch into a story about each aspect of our visit but that's better left for YOU to experience. I will say though the beef enchiladas I had were unlike any I've had prior. The meat was freshly cooked ground beef with loads of Onion and Pepper and SEASONED. Yes...if you Season the meat it tastes...GOOD. This place knows. The decor, the commitment to an authentic feel, the freshness of the food, the presentation of the food, the plates, the bakery, the menu... everything about Casa Jacaranda is a huge 5 stars. We had fajita nachos (the best I've ever had), street tacos, and a fajita salad. So full of flavor, appetizing, easy on the eyes... and you leave full. Read about this place, seems like it's "the" place to be; so off we go for Sunday lunch. Easy drive from Rendon, plenty of parking across the street in the public parking area. Walk up, it's well decorated, clean outside, no litter, it's going well. Enter - and the first thing you notice is this is a busy place. Once you're in the place make your way to the counter and order there, pay there. Friendly people, fast paced place, all is good. Try to scope out a place to sit, found one but not the best .. i really want to be out on the front porch, let's pretend we're in the NW and it's 70*. After a bit the tables outside clear and I tell the hubby to quickly grab his drink and silverware we're making our way outside. When he's through rolling his eyes he follows me. So nice, so leisurely feeling even though nothing really changed but something did. Food arrived, we slowly ate, watched the bit of traffic at / near this center of the little town. Being out here watching this, i can feel life slowing down, stress slipping away just a bit. Made a trip to the bathroom which is at the back of the house. It takes a bit of a serpentine route to and fro. Clean, one stall; probably could get a line of traffic on these busy days. Great Mexican food. It is not Tex-Mex like most of us are used to. It is delicious and more like what you would expect in Monterrey. The only complaint I would have is their chips which are quite thick and the amount of salsa that came with them. Only about an ounce of red and the same of green. The bakery has delicous cookies and turnovers. Try the chocolate thumbprint and the butterfly cookies. I expected service and added a 25% tip to my bill which is paid at the counter where you must stand to order. I then tipped 20% again at the bakery. The server brought our tea and plates then never came back to our table at all. The next time I will adjust my tip accordingly. read more

What a wonderful find out in Venus, Texas! This authentic mexican spot captured our favor the minute we opened the door and stepped in to see such an open attractively colorful and inviting place. Set up so that orders are easily placed at the counter, we set out to sample all we could! Huarache with fajita beef was awesome. The beef was tender and nicely seasoned to compliment the crema, salsa and other toppings -- knife/fork route to heaven! The chips were served with both rojo and molecajete salsas -- quickly enjoyed. Tortillas for the street tacos (out of this world yummy!) and enchiladas were tender because they were homemade. Spicy verde sauce and crema proved a delicious combo on the cheese enchiladas. Tasting the tamales we had topped with yellow and red sauce brought even more pleasure. It seemed every table was as enamoured with their selections as we were. And believe me, we watched each beautifully crafted plate head out to tables past us -- next time, ooooh next time for sure! Be sure to sample the panderia specialty items -- they were so good. We ordered the churros, too, and wished all the way back home we'd ordered extra! This is truly a jewel! Great Mexican food! I really enjoyed everything about this place. The ambiance, the service, the food, all fantastic. The chips and salsa was great. They had four different kinds of salsas you could try all varying in taste and hotness. The red one was my favorite. They also had horchata but ran out by the time I tried to order one. I did get to have a sample of what was left and it was delish. Everything from the enchiladas to the fajitas to the shrimp nachos was on par. This is real Mexican food not Tex Mex. I recently started work in Venus and stopped here for lunch. I had the beef enchilada plate and it was delicious. The enchiladas were larger than other restaurants and stuffed with tasty beef. The cheese was great but what really shined was the salsa verde drizzled on top. A nice spicy kick that doesn't overwhelm the rest of the dish. The presentation and plate were beautiful too! The staff were professional and helpful. My drink and food came out quickly during lunch hour. I also loved the look and feel of the restaurant. Lots of wood and brick all around. The menu is drawn on a chalkboard. Colorful seating and decorations. Everything is clean and gives the entire restaurant a very homey feel. I definitely plan to come here often and try more dishes. I recently moved to Texas from Tennessee and this place is a real gem. Very authentic food and super approachable by all! I would highly recommend the chilaqulies (they are spicy) tostada and cafe de olla. BEST Mexican food in Ellis County!!!! Legit. Every once in a while you find a place that meets and exceeds every expectation or hope you have for it. I can't believe this place is in Venus, TX. It very easily could be in an upscale location in a major city. The decor is super cute and cheerful. The staff is the friendliest I've ever experienced in any restaurant anywhere. Hands down. They are so kind (not just nice- truly kind). They NEVER make a face when we ask for accommodations to the dishes, and are honestly just so sweet. I can't even count the number of times I've been here in the past month and a half. It's enough that they are teasing us when we switch up our regular orders though. Lol. The killer element there truly is the food. Omgosh. I don't even know where to begin. They serve handmade chips (Seriously, who does that!!!???). This one aspect alone would keep us coming back. SO delicious!!! They make several fresh salsas and sauces daily. All of them are very distinct and flavorful! Are you Vegan? Vegetarian? Flexitarian? Full blown meat loving, carnivore? They have you covered!!!!! They offer soy-rizo for veg heads like me, but- My favorite is the shrimp and napoles (cactus)... flexy dream combo... all my peeps have loved the chicken and beef as well (no one I know has tried the pork yet). They also serve Hot Tea! And they make FRESH JUICES! (Celery, napoles, pineapple, & orange is killer). P.s. Did I mention: They serve Breakfast all day?!!!
