Stopped here on the way through town and the food was amazing! My family had queso, shrimp tacos, barbacoa tacos and cheese enchiladas. Every bite was delicious. Wish we lived closer so this could be a regular stop! read more

The reviews are in! Went to Casa and ordered to go with the SUPER friendly MONICA. (Told you I'd mention your name girl). This place was PACKED. It was Friday, after all. People looked super happy. The music wasn't trying too hard (not loud). But just enough to let you know where you were. It's hard to find a gem. This place looks like a gem. It's really hidden behind the chain Whataburger and Subway. I was impressed that while I was waiting for my to go a young man asked me if I wanted a water and later a young lady asked too! NICE. Who wld of thought you cld find this place in VENUS of all places! This is not Northside or Southside FW... Still the 4 street tacos with carne asada were good and Great for the $7.99. Go see Monica. She has the best Mexican food on HWY 67 between Alvarado and Midlothian. read more

This is an updated review. This place is so unorganized. They lose orders and are not trained. Wish the original owner would get a handle on the Venus Location bc it is awful! Food comes out wrong or not at all! read more

As you've read from other reviews it did not disappoint. I had the tamale plate. They were very fresh and you can choose from about four ways to top it. I got the red sauce. It's not a "chili" like some places but authentic red chili sauce. The chips and white queso are delicious. Our first cup of guacamole was really good, second one was a little heavy on onion for my taste but some people love onion. Chili relleno, street tacos and beef huaraches were very good. The tres leeches cake was fabulous. The flan was just ok and I'm a huge flan fan. It is byob so bring your cooler! The staff is so sweet. read more

Amazing experience! Food is fantastic EVERY VISIT! So glad to have quality restaurant here in Venus!

The best Mexican Restaurant I have ever been to! I am from Indiana, so I am by no means an expert on Mexican Restaurants. But Yelp lead me to this gem. There is a reason that this small restaurant in a very small Texas town with no sign and no other significant business around holds a 5 star rating. It is amazing! Authentic Mexican food that is super fresh and full of flavor. Most of us got street tacos since it was lunch. The tacos as they came were amazing, but then they brought out the different sauces to add. All were good, but the guacamole salsa took the prize! Yes, guacamole salsa! It was so good that I cannot understand why I have never seen it before. Checkout the pictures for the bakery case as well! I did not get a chance to try any of them, but looks alone tell me they are amazing. I would try them all if I was in the area long enough to! read more

Ambiance - excellent. Customer service - excellent Prices - excellent value Presentation- excellent Food - I'd prefer a larger serving size of rice and beans. I'd also like the food to be a lot more spicy. However the spice was perfect for my wife and kids. The queso needs some more flavor. I guess I prefer chili con queso. The breads were amazing, we kept ordering more of them. If you're in the area check it out. You won't find a better value. read more

Great food!! Great service!! Good prices!! Cute decor!! we will be back soon! Mmmmmmmmm

Whaaaaat. This little gem in Venus is freakin awesome. And I don't say that lightly, having had bomb Mexican food all my life. Not sure what to expect walking up, but sent via the rave reviews, we ordered some enchiladas, fajitas, chips & salsa, and horchata. It was all great Actually....those are the best enchiladas I've ever had. Wow. The enchiladas have this amazing sauce on top that is like a cross between Mexican crema and melty cheese. It's amazing. The housemade salsa and red sauce, also delicious. Beautiful, crunchy chips. Seasoning on the fajitas was on point and the horchata! Cinnamon goodness. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was pretty quick to come out. They also have a case of baked goods that looked great. Sadly, I don't live nearby but if I did, I'd come here ALL the time. (If y'all want to expand, come to Houston! ) Damn. Go now. You'll be glad you did. read more

Employees are always very nice and attentive. Food is prepared quickly and is always very good. Love the decor of the place

I was a skeptic beauce of all of the great reviews and the fact that it was in Venus! Honestly the BEST Mexican food I think I've ever had. This is the first place I've ever been to where not a single one of my tortilla chips we broken and the weren't a million crumbs at the bottom. Apparently they are made when you order them! How awesome is that!!! You can tell they really care about what they are doing, and not just trying to make money. Everything was amazing! Will definitely be going back. While on vacation ate here twice. The Nachos fajita beef where excellent. I love the street tacos.

Umm, this place was one of my fav because of its authentic Mexican food BUT, service and food lately hasn't been good. Idk if they don't have the same cooking people or maybe the management is not the same one. Too bad bc there's a few of us that would love to continue to be customers but I've heard people say the same thing about it too. read more

Wow!!!!!!! I have to start with that expression because this restaurant met every expectation and It will definitely be one of my regulars. We had the Street Tacos and the chicken enchiladas, and both dishes come with rice and beans. The meat is tender and tasty, the corn tortillas taste homemade the salads are fresh, the rice is fully cooked and bursting with flavor, and their retried beans are runny but very tasty (makes you want to ask for a couple of tortillas as just lick the plate clean. They also have pan dulce, and churros. read more

Casa Jacaranda is a true oasis. It feeds your soul & your body. Their horchata is one of the best in the metroplex. Yet- it's in Venus, Texas. The horchata alone should cause you to make the trip, but wait, there's more!! They embrace the vegan community!! I tell no lies. From breakfast burritos to a plate of nachos, on the verge of pure gluttony. It's Secret Menu that's on par with Animal Style. This is a true gem of hospitality & quality. The food here is okay. My issue was service. There were two people in line. The owner went out of her way to help the man behind me. Never spoke to me. I ordered and waited. The owner, again, ran out to the other man at his table to ask about his food. She never came to my table to check on me. If it wasn't for the kind white woman who takes ordered I would have walked out. Last time patronizing this business. read more

From Dallas I was visiting with my husband the area for the weekend and saw this place recommended when we looked for vegetarian friendly restaurants in the area since my husband is vegetarian. We weren't expecting many options let alone tasty ones but decided to give this place a try. Totally worth it, the best Mexican food even compared to the many in the city! Everything we had was fresh and so flavorful, plus not heavy and the portions are just right so you don't leave feeling like you need to go to sleep. And for vegetarians they have some great options, my husband loved the El Huarache with soy chirizo. We liked it so much we came again! I got the shrimp tacos (taco costeno plate) which was also excellent. Beautiful and colorful decor and casual cafe vibe too. read more

Ok, I was a little skeptical based on all of the big stars for this place so I just HAD to try it to see. Let me tell you what....this place is LEGIT. 3 of us had a mix of tamales, nachos and enchiladas and all was amazing! They don't skimp on the queso/crema and you're NOT served some lava-hot plate just out of the oven that was dressed hours ago and reheated to order. This place assembles each order as it comes in and you can watch! Open kitchen! Service was very warm, friendly and sincere. In the back of the house is a small bakery featuring freshly made pastries and baked goods. They had a sample of a cinnamon-cookie on the counter and it was really really good. I could launch into a story about each aspect of our visit but that's better left for YOU to experience. I will say though the beef enchiladas I had were unlike any I've had prior. The meat was freshly cooked ground beef with loads of Onion and Pepper and SEASONED. Yes...if you Season the meat it tastes...GOOD. This place knows. I will return to this restaurant every opportunity I get. read more

Sam had the pork tamale chile relleno with white sauce includes homemade corn tortillas. Must have been really good because he almost licked his plate!! I decided on beef fajita nachos which are served on their thick homemade chips. The beef was tender and seasoned to perfection. I was informed if you don't see it on the menu to be sure to ask...the can most likely make it for you! I see having breakfast their in the near future!! Don't leave without picking up a dessert to take home with you!! FYI, you order at the counter and they bring your drinks & food to your table. read more

I don't care where you live... this is worth the drive to Venus, TX! You can really tell that the owners are passionate about everything regarding their restaurant. The decor, the commitment to an authentic feel, the freshness of the food, the presentation of the food, the plates, the bakery, the menu... everything about Casa Jacaranda is a huge 5 stars. We had fajita nachos (the best I've ever had), street tacos, and a fajita salad. So full of flavor, appetizing, easy on the eyes... and you leave full. The owners are great, and the staff is excellent. The two men serving the food could not have been more friendly and helpful. Final thoughts... with the bakery going too... the place smells heavenly. Very good food, best spot in Alvarado, authentic Mexican food. Only reason I put a four stars is due to when trying to place a phone order it always sends me to voicemail and suggest to order online, I'm always on the go and don't really have time to visit the website, in my opinion this is more time consuming. I like to order while driving so by arrival it's ready to go. After all I highly recommend this place to everyone read more

Read about this place, seems like it's "the" place to be; so off we go for Sunday lunch. Easy drive from Rendon, plenty of parking across the street in the public parking area. Walk up, it's well decorated, clean outside, no litter, it's going well. Enter - and the first thing you notice is this is a busy place. Once you're in the place make your way to the counter and order there, pay there. Friendly people, fast paced place, all is good. Try to scope out a place to sit, found one but not the best .. i really want to be out on the front porch, let's pretend we're in the NW and it's 70*. After a bit the tables outside clear and I tell the hubby to quickly grab his drink and silverware we're making our way outside. When he's through rolling his eyes he follows me. So nice, so leisurely feeling even though nothing really changed but something did. Food arrived, we slowly ate, watched the bit of traffic at / near this center of the little town. Being out here watching this, i can feel life slowing down, stress slipping away just a bit. Made a trip to the bathroom which is at the back of the house. It takes a bit of a serpentine route to and fro. Clean, one stall; probably could get a line of traffic on these busy days. Meal was good, not great but the combo of the food and the experience did make it an enjoyable outing worthy of a repeat. read more

Great Mexican food. It is not Tex-Mex like most of us are used to. It is delicious and more like what you would expect in Monterrey. The only complaint I would have is their chips which are quite thick and the amount of salsa that came with them. Only about an ounce of red and the same of green. The bakery has delicous cookies and turnovers. Try the chocolate thumbprint and the butterfly cookies. I expected service and added a 25% tip to my bill which is paid at the counter where you must stand to order. I then tipped 20% again at the bakery. The server brought our tea and plates then never came back to our table at all. The next time I will adjust my tip accordingly. read more

Thought this place was legit but honestly, it's a little hole in the wall with overly priced food, that's is presented to look authentic but is just really no so true. Just to mention the salsa. It all water and yes it's a bit hot but not even a flavor worth saying Thai is the authentic stuff. If they thing watering this down is good, they sure are making a profit off of watered down salsas read more

What a wonderful find out in Venus, Texas! This authentic mexican spot captured our favor the minute we opened the door and stepped in to see such an open attractively colorful and inviting place. Set up so that orders are easily placed at the counter, we set out to sample all we could! Huarache with fajita beef was awesome. The beef was tender and nicely seasoned to compliment the crema, salsa and other toppings -- knife/fork route to heaven! The chips were served with both rojo and molecajete salsas -- quickly enjoyed. Tortillas for the street tacos (out of this world yummy!) and enchiladas were tender because they were homemade. Spicy verde sauce and crema proved a delicious combo on the cheese enchiladas. Tasting the tamales we had topped with yellow and red sauce brought even more pleasure. It seemed every table was as enamoured with their selections as we were. And believe me, we watched each beautifully crafted plate head out to tables past us -- next time, ooooh next time for sure! Be sure to sample the panderia specialty items -- they were so good. We ordered the churros, too, and wished all the way back home we'd ordered extra! This is truly a jewel! Beautifully served authentic quality mexican food that tastes as delicious as it is picture perfect. Charming decor is colorful, fun and festive -- what a great place! read more

Great Mexican food! I really enjoyed everything about this place. The ambiance, the service, the food, all fantastic. The chips and salsa was great. They had four different kinds of salsas you could try all varying in taste and hotness. The red one was my favorite. They also had horchata but ran out by the time I tried to order one. I did get to have a sample of what was left and it was delish. Everything from the enchiladas to the fajitas to the shrimp nachos was on par. This is real Mexican food not Tex Mex. They also have a giant case of pastries for after dinner. The servers were very nice and attentive. Overall this place is gem. read more

I recently started work in Venus and stopped here for lunch. I had the beef enchilada plate and it was delicious. The enchiladas were larger than other restaurants and stuffed with tasty beef. The cheese was great but what really shined was the salsa verde drizzled on top. A nice spicy kick that doesn't overwhelm the rest of the dish. The presentation and plate were beautiful too! The staff were professional and helpful. My drink and food came out quickly during lunch hour. I also loved the look and feel of the restaurant. Lots of wood and brick all around. The menu is drawn on a chalkboard. Colorful seating and decorations. Everything is clean and gives the entire restaurant a very homey feel. I definitely plan to come here often and try more dishes. I would recommend this for any lover of Mexican food! read more

If there's such a thing as healthy traditional stick to your stomach delicious Mexican food ... THIS IS THE PLACE. Oh MY GAW! The MENUDO is freaking AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! Do not leave here without having it. Extremely fresh. Seems like it is VERY homemade and not a lot of grease. It's almost like a gourmet MENUDO. The tacos are all amazing and NOT greasy. Best Mexican food I've had in my 25 years here from Arizona, outstanding, reminds me of home, my favorite chili relleno

I recently moved to Texas from Tennessee and this place is a real gem. Very authentic food and super approachable by all! I would highly recommend the chilaqulies (they are spicy) tostada and cafe de olla. Usually a place with all 5 stars reviewed by yelpers with less than 10 reviews and no pictures can't be trusted. You have to go find out for yourself if a place is good and sometimes you are disappointed. I guess that's with every place though. I've never been to Venus before this trip. I almost started to feel like I was in the Western part of the state, expecting turbines or E.T. Casa J is family owned and in downtown Venus. Older part, not really kept up. I thought I might have made a mistake, but sometimes good eatin is in shady looking places. There hasn't been a restaurant that I tried yet this year that made me so excited that I had to go home and write or review, or write one in the parking lot! You go in. They let you know it's traditional Mexican. You order, seat yourself, and pay at the counter after you eat. The menu is short and sweet. Breakfast served all day. Tamales, quesadillas, fajitas, enchiladas, tostadas, nachos, chilaquiles, barbacoa tacos, and that's pretty much it. They have mexican candies, soda, and pastries! Churros! The girl taking my order said their quesadillas, fajita plate, barbacoa tacos, and enchiladas were great. Really I didn't want fajitas because you can go down the road anywhere to get fajitas. I wanted something different, so I went with Fajita Huarache. Fajita Huarache. A round tostada looking thing only you can't pick it up and it wasn't crunchy. the texture reminded me of a tamale. Beef, onions, rice, beans, crema, and cheese came on it. It was amazing. Every single bite. So flavorful. The flavors of the combination of everything was fantastic. Just because I didn't think it would fill me up I got a Barbacoa taco. Also great. The barbacoa was delicious. The chips were perfect. They give you 3 salsas. One red and two green. So good I wanted to drink them. They have queso. I would pass on it and save my calories or stomach space for the good food. read more

BEST Mexican food in Ellis County!!!! Legit. Every once in a while you find a place that meets and exceeds every expectation or hope you have for it. I can't believe this place is in Venus, TX. It very easily could be in an upscale location in a major city. The decor is super cute and cheerful. The staff is the friendliest I've ever experienced in any restaurant anywhere. Hands down. They are so kind (not just nice- truly kind). They NEVER make a face when we ask for accommodations to the dishes, and are honestly just so sweet. I can't even count the number of times I've been here in the past month and a half. It's enough that they are teasing us when we switch up our regular orders though. Lol. The killer element there truly is the food. Omgosh. I don't even know where to begin. They serve handmade chips (Seriously, who does that!!!???). This one aspect alone would keep us coming back. SO delicious!!! They make several fresh salsas and sauces daily. All of them are very distinct and flavorful! Are you Vegan? Vegetarian? Flexitarian? Full blown meat loving, carnivore? They have you covered!!!!! They offer soy-rizo for veg heads like me, but- My favorite is the shrimp and napoles (cactus)... flexy dream combo... all my peeps have loved the chicken and beef as well (no one I know has tried the pork yet). They also serve Hot Tea! And they make FRESH JUICES! (Celery, napoles, pineapple, & orange is killer). P.s. Did I mention: They serve Breakfast all day?!!! We've yet to try it since we are SOOOOO addicted to their regular offerings- but it's on the books. Everything we've had has been out of the park amazing. They serve SOOO many options and every single dish we've had has been BEAUTIFUL!!! You can feel the love and energy they put into each dish.. it's like art. Mexican art my friends. Oh yea-speaking of, part of their aesthetic is their inclusion of FRIDA to their decor (one of my MOST favorite artists of all time). It's an incredible atmosphere. Such beautiful people, food, and energy going on here. We love how small and special this place is... they truly deserve to grow... I just pray when they do they can mange to hold on to these precious elements. Our favorite Mexican food pick in the DFW area.... that's not an exaggeration at all- it's a VERY strong recommendation. Do yourself a favor and come experience the love. read more
