We went here last night and were pleasantly surprised. The food was soooo good. Nothing out of a can or box, or bought at the local grocery store. Everything tasted homemade. The service was great. They even have a bakery with desserts made fresh that day. Normally, if we want to eat really good Mexican food, we have to drive to Oak Cliff. Long story how I came to visit Casa J, but I'm hooked. When I got here I explained that I'd never been here before and they asked what I liked at other places, and I stated what I didn't like as that list is shorter. They nailed it. Went to vote and discovered this little GEM. Walked in and the place comfortably inviting. You order from the counter and pay after you eat. Our food was extremely fresh and delicious. I had the Pork Tamale Plate and my wife had the Beef Fajita Taco Plate. Our food was delivered on these wonderful looking plates and the presentation of the food was exquisite. Drove from the town of the Cow also known as Fort Worth to check this place in a desolate town square known as Venus. The authenticity was second to none. Had a chile relleno stuffed with a pork tamale (not a misprint) it was outstanding. My significant other had enmoladas, which are chicken mole enchiladas with pumpkin seeds. We shared an appetizer called a huarache. We ordered the beef fajita one with cojeta cheese. All the items were fabulous. The tortillas chips are homemade, too. And their salsas are exceptional. We had a roasted green one and an avaocado salsa. I know it seems crazy to ask people to go way out of the way Wade to come eat in a little Venus Texas but I have to say it is a real treat to come and eat here. They have the cutest little restaurant and I absolutely love the atmosphere and the people are the nicest people that you will ever find around. The best part is the food is absolutely phenomenal. They have traditional Mexican drinks like fresh Horchata they also have Mexican sodas but I have to say the best part about coming is the amazing bakery Do you want some traditional Mexican bakery items this is the place to go. Run don't walk to this wonderful small business! We stumbled on to this resturant and were not disappointed. We ordered kids tacos, echiladas, queso and guac, burritos, the torta, and a variety of desserts from their bakery case. The food came out hot and quickly. The torta is one of the best I have had! My 10 year old said the tacos were his favorite of all time. The salsas were clearly homemade and I have never had a salsa quite like them before. The red salsa was mild but packed with flavor. The green salsa had garlic but did not have the acidic earthiness that many green salsas can have. The guac was made fresh and a decent portion for the price. The apple turnover dessert was incredible and the apples were so brightly flavored. The interior is adorable and colorfully decorated. They had small and large tables and a bar available. There was space between each table for COVID safety. All of the staff were wearing masks. Service was fast and they made sure to check in with us several times to make sure everything was okay. Came all the way from Vegas. So glad I looked on Yelp as I was driving to find a Mexican restaurant. Yelp did not fail me. Absolutely fantastic. We had had the green chili enchiladas with white sauce and chicken quesadilla. Both were the best I've had topped it of with Churro's. Homemade with cream cheese. The tortillas and Churro's are made fresh daily and you can tell Atmosphere was great Restaurant is located in a building on the square not too many of those around anymore The staff was very friendly and helped us figure out what to get. The restaurant has only be open 7 months and well worth the trip. If I'm ever this way again I'll stop by. read more

I love the historic building. Super clean establishment and unique style, some parts are still the original brick walls and the kitchen and back of building seam to be all new construction. Men's Bathroom was super clean and actually had paper towels. Prices are in line with any similar Mexican restaurant in DFW. $7.99 for four street tacos with rice and beans. I got the spicy sauce and it had great flavor with a kick. Flavor of rice beans and tacos was on spot. Iv been to Venus a few times on days this place was closed. We decided to get out of Fort Worth and go out to the countryside. I was curious to see what the fuss was about. The food wasn't all that impressive to me. I might be too ingrained with Tex-Mex style to like what others call authentic. It was a nice ride out there is all I can say. Maybe when Spring shows up in April we might try it again. Well, here goes: My husband and I had never been here before, but with a 5 star rating, we couldn't resist. It's a small place with minimal seating, but it has a very nice, rustic feel to it. You order at the counter (and pay at the end of your meal), and there's plenty of options on the menu. I saw a plate going out (chicken enchiladas with white/green sauce); I immediately asked for that. My husband was quite content with the street tacos. The chips and salsa costs $1.99 which isn't much, but 99% of Mexican restaurants offer this for free. The chips were amazing (homemade), and the two sauces served with them were equally amazing. The cashier suggested the white queso, so we ordered it. OMG! It was to die for. Since it was our first time, and we didn't know the drill, and we were done with the entire basket of chips before our drinks arrived. The food was delicious, however, it was lukewarm. I guess we could've asked them to warm it up, but we didn't want to be THOSE people. My enchiladas arrived sans green sauce, and I was really looking forward to it. My husband is a big guy, so unfortunately, the street tacos weren't enough. Since they serve breakfast all day, he ordered two chorizo and egg burritos. He could only eat one, and he said it tasted incredible. We were having so much fun trying so many items off the menu that we finished our night off with coffee, a mini conchita and Mexican wedding cookies. Cute Lil family owned restaurant. Very colorful and rustic look. We walked in and were greeted right away. She asked if it was our 1st time and showed us the menu on the wall. The prices are decent and the food was good my husband had the fajita plate with HOMEMADE flour tortillas which is a ++++ I had the egg and chorizo burrito. Really awesome Mexican coffee. You have to try is if you like sweet coffee. It is a bit limited seating great for pick up orders.
