We eat a lot of Mexican food as a family, plus I used to be a cook at a Mexican restaurant. That said... The staff was very friendly and helpful. They didn't have a kids menu but were very accommodating when we were ordering other items for our kids to eat. The homemade chips were great. Just beware of the orange salsa: it's hot! The salsa roja was flavorful but a bit too salty. The salsa verde was slightly less so, but still very good. I also like the avacado salsa. As someone else mentioned, the white queso is excellent! Chips, tortillas, salsas, and quesos are made there. My wife got the fajita chicken plate, which was very good. I got the enchilada mole with the homemade mole sauce. Also excellent! The atmosphere was good too. It's in an older brick building, but modernized enough. This is the quality of place you'd expect to find in a larger city. read more

Been twice now. The Barbacoa is amazing (I'm not a big barbacoa lover because it's always so greasy and flavorless to me, not even close to either of those things here). Tried several things each time and the homemade tortillas (corn and flour) are the key to all of them. I always get an extra taco just to try each of the meats. So far the shrimp, beef fajita, and barbacoa are outstanding. Looking forward to trying the picadillo and tamales soon. Will absolutely be back. Is tomorrow too soon? read more

This is our favorite Mexican food restaurant in the metropolex. It is a great, small-town, hope-in-the-wall place. You do have to pay for chips and salsa, which is the only drawback. It like their tamales and nachos quesadillas. They have breakfast tacos all day, which the kids like. read more

This place has the best enchiladas I have ever had, which being a Texan from birth, is saying something. Their salads are very good with mana selections, the staff is extremely friendly, and their food tastes like happy. My favorite thing though is their mole sauce. Just imagine unicorns and magical puppies came together with a super powerful magician and created their mole sauce based around the very idea of perfection (with all wizards and animals up to proper hygienic codes). Such a good authentic Mexican food spot. Its rare to find a GOOD Mexican restaurant that's not TexMex. It's so nice inside and the employees are polite and helpful! I got chilaquiles with Chile verde which also came with refried beans and potatoes. It was all seasoned and paired so well. Definitely took care of my craving for chilaquiles. After reading about this place I decided, on a whim, to load up my dad and go on a grand adventure (35 miles south) for lunch today. After we found the restaurant, we walked in and were pleasantly surprised by the feel of it. The menu is filled with a good selection of items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I made my way up to the counter to place our orders for tacos al carbon (dad), and street tacos (mine), chips and salsa, and 2 cans of Coke. They offered Mexican Coke, but I prefer the canned variety. We claimed a table and waited. The chips are homemade and oh, so good. I never had a greasy chip. You had a choice of red or green salsa, but it's not a scooper salsa, just a dunker. When our meals finally arrived, th hey looked so delicious! I had 4 street tacos with beef fajita meat, and rice. The tacos were flavored perfectly, the meat tender and delicious in my mouth, blending perfectly with the light onion and light cilantro. The rice was light and fluffy, with just the right amount of seasonings. Was it worth the 45 minute drive? Absolutely! Like I told my dad, "Winner, winner, chicken dinner!" but with tacos! read more

Awesome little small-town joint. The chips are fantastic, the guacamole is fresh, the salsa verde is flavorful and spicy. Wash it down with a Mexican coke? Yes, please. We've tried several dishes over many trips and have been satisfied every time, including tacos, nachos, breakfast burrito, and even tamales. The huarache is a favorite - also unique, not something you see at every other place. Chicken, onions, cheese, beans, cilantro, crema, etc. all on top of a thick tortilla-like bread. My personal favorite is the chicken quesadilla - hot, gooey cheese and tasty grilled chicken on a buttery tortilla - mmmmmm. Then you can enjoy a sweet end to the meal by visiting their bakery case filled with all kids of Mexican pastries, but don't overlook the cold case with chocolate covered strawberries, flan, and tres leches. The food is fresh made and unique. the place is always clean, staff is friendly, and patient. they have things on the menu that you haven't heard of before and some of those you might think you know but they are quite different when served. Great breakfast tacos, great street tacos. I recommend the shrimp.... not on the menu but they have them. they can custom make something for you or you can keep it basic. they also have a good coffee bar and a Mexican bakery bar. only thing I don't like is the soft drink setup. They only serve in cans or liters of the Mexican Coke. read more

If I could give this place more stars, I would! Holy cow their food is amazing. Like seriously the best mexican food I've ever had. A group of six of us went there today and we all got something different. Everything was delicious. Don't forget to save room for dessert and coffee. The desserts and cappuccinos that have cinnamon on them have freshly ground cinnamon and you can taste the difference. I can't wait to go back to this hidden gem. Go here, get anything. Amazing place! Traveling from Dallas to Houston and was lucky to find this place. We ordered the Vegetarian Huarache, the beef fajita enchiladas with white queso and green salsa, quesadillas, and street tacos. All plates were left clean! I do strongly recommend the Vegetarian Huarache with soy rizo. I'm not even Vegetarian; it sounded interesting and I'm so thankful I ordered it. I have been to this location four times now. The food is very good, most of the time the wait staff is very good and sometimes it is hit or miss. To order go to the counter and they will take your order. When you leave go back to the counter to pay. What I did not like was they charge extra for stuff I am used to getting for free. Like the chips and salsa if you want you pay extra. I'll say again the food is really good. read more
