Fortunately, there's a deferent owner at the Walnut Creek location so that's where I ended up going. I recommend going to the Walnut Creek location don't bother coming to this location. read more

I used to go here a lot but since I moved from Lafayette I haven't been able to go here. Tonight, I ordered a chicken/prawn burrito. I like all the ingredients except that the white rice was stale or not cooked fully. Also it is not Mexican style rice :( very disappointed. The price for a good burrito is up there and therefore the burrito itself should be good. Dave, come on..: you need to use (cook) Mexican rice for burritos. read more

The owner was so cool & kind; the owner is a gem. He made two chicken tacos he was trying out as a new recipe, gave me those tacos for free . . . who ever knew homemade BBQ sauce would go great on a chicken taco!? The walls are lined with Joe Montana photos & local kids sports teams thanking him for his food; him & I had a great conversation, he loaded my bag up with chips & really good salsa. Told me to grab a drink from the fridge on the way out. I ordered the steak burrito, it was so DARN good. I am already telling family about this place & especially the owner. Today reminded me that integrity still exists in business. I stopped by Casa Gourmet Burrito without realizing it was cash-only. Instead of turning me away, Dave, the owner, insisted I stay and enjoy a meal on the house. That kind of generosity doesn't happen anymore. While I ate, Dave and I had a genuine conversation about business, the economy, and community values. As a fellow small-business owner, I can tell when someone leads with heart, Dave absolutely does. He knew returning customers by name, greeted families like old friends, and even handed a few coins to a little boy to toss into the fountain outside. You can't fake that kind of hospitality. The food? Just as genuine and made with pride. But what stood out most was the character behind the counter. Dave's an immigrant living the American dream, upholding the values most of us wish were more common today: kindness, humility, and hard work. Prices above are false. They're actually triple the amount. When revealing this to the owner he told me to use "Common sense" the prices were from the early 2000's. Common sense tells me he had 20 years to adjust the site and to never come back. Extremely rude. read more

Casa has been a long time favorite burrito spot for me. I used to come here when I was a kid and their gourmet burritos have a special place in my heart. The owner Dave has worked there for as long as I can remember and he is always down to earth. The shop even sponsors local kids sports teams and has pictures of the teams all around the restaurant! Amazing experience at casa burrito today. I ordered vegan burritos and tacos (grilled veggies with no cheese) and they were perfection. I saw and smelled the veggies on the grill when I came in. Although he burrito I ordered was simple but the quality of ingredients set it apart, perfect char on the veggies, crisp lettuce, soft rice, good beans, perfectly seasoned pico and guac, and not a single wilted leaf of cilantro. The owner was so kind to me and my kids and made us feel right at home in his shop! Although the shop is small there's a nice little outdoor seating area and a few tables inside making it comfortable for a casual place to eat in. I have been coming here since 2005...and let me tell you it has drastically changed and gone from phenomenal to utter trash. How does one fall off like this? Oh Dave....what happened to you man? We used to come here all the time with acalanes football and basketball team back when I was attending high school. This place has been a gem and treasure in the city of Lafayette. This is truly sad and disappointing. The worst burrito I've ever had. I ordered a "mixed vegetable" burrito that didn't include any vegetables other than salsa mix and lettuce. The worst part is that the tortilla was half cooked making it stiff and difficult to chew. The shredded cheese was still raw, and there was very little beans. Basically, a mixed vegetable burrito is mainly rice and salsa mix (tomatoes and onions). It was a waste of money. read more

After at least 10 years of going here, I finally had to give up on this place and the owner. While the food is not the problem for me, I've seen the place go from a popular high school hangout to a ghost restaurant, haunted by a moody manager with empty tables, and mysteriously floating prices. He at one point had charming workers who were raided by some Don Juan immigration agent that won over their confidence by speaking Spanish, and they were busted. From then on, he started running the place himself and pulled it into the basement. He needs a few cheery workers, maybe some of those high school fund raisers like Krispy Kreme used to have, and some more professionalism. It took a LOT for me to abandon ship, because his burritos have an "I'm home" kind of taste, with relatively reasonable prices, but I have to get on with my life. Love this place. While in between taking our order and cooking our burritos, the chef was cracking numerous jokes. He's beyond kind, customizing our order down to the cheese, beans, and meat. The best thing I love about this place is that they don't cook their beans in pork, so you can enjoy a vegetarian or pescetarian burrito without any worries. I've grown up in Lamorinda and surprisingly have never eaten here before. The owner was one of the nicest guys I've met and offered up free soda as a bonus. Casa Gourmet Burrito is a secret gem. The best burritos, quesadillas, chips, salsa, etc., in Lamorinda at a great price. It is a small restaurant and, therefore, run by just the owner (Dave, a gentleman), who makes sure the clients are happy and is great with teenagers. My kids and others I know love going there.
