The next day I had the other half and it was beyond excellent. The flavors just all blended together. It was fantastic. The service is very friendly, and the ambience is fine for just sit down and wolf down some tacos, but I think most customers are takeout. They seem very dedicated to making really really good food, and I would certainly be back.

I was here on a short business trip and stopped by for a meal because I was craving Mexican food. Looking at the menu, I was amazed at the different options and variety of drinks they offered. Had to try the Ube horchata, birria, burritos, and the tacos. Everything came out pretty quickly and the meats were tender, good quality, and filling. I would say the ube horchata was refreshing, but after a while, it felt too sweet for me. I'm not complaining about getting such a big cup of it, but I definitely think 2 people can share 1 drink and be really satisfied. I also got some carne asada fries (not pictured), and those were also bomb. Overall, I genuinely enjoyed the friendly staff, food, and was pleasantly surprised at my experience. Will definitely come back!

The indoor-outdoor layout is a huge plus--it's the perfect place to enjoy a meal whether you're grabbing a casual lunch or meeting up with friends for dinner. The food is consistently excellent. The complimentary chips and salsa are fresh, flavorful, and honestly hard to stop eating. Their burrito bowls are packed with fresh ingredients and generous portions, making them both satisfying and delicious. If you're looking for something a little different, the wood-fired plates are definitely worth trying--they add a great smoky flavor that really stands out. Between the welcoming atmosphere, great food, and comfortable indoor-outdoor seating, Rancho Cantina is a place I'll keep coming back to. Definitely recommend checking it out if you're looking for quality Mexican food in a fun, relaxed setting with impeccable service.

Drinks were had, quite tasty: the house old fashion & the hibiscus paloma. The mains: an order of the red sauce enchiladas with chicken & the salmon with chimichurri sauce. The red sauce tasted more like a tomato base versus a red chile sauce, not my thing. The salmon was prepared well. Ambiance - casual; there's both inside & outside seating. Willing to try again. They're opening a second restaurant in Danville, hoping to try it once they open.

Hit it on a Sunday late afternoon, which turned out to be the move if you want a quiet early dinner. We ordered the grilled fish tacos, the beet salad, and the mushroom pizza, and everything was tasty. The fish was cooked right on, flaky and clean, with fresh pico on top. Plenty of food for the three dishes between us. Service was good and the staff was friendly without hovering. The space has a cool wood and corrugated metal look, with sports gear and brewery signs on the walls. There's a full bar with a solid beer list, a decent wine selection, and indoor or patio seating depending on your mood. Valet parking out front is a nice touch. Our server said Friday and Saturday nights get packed, with live music and good people watching, so the vibe shifts depending on when you go. Sunday afternoon was mellow and easy. If you want the energy, hit it on a weekend. If you want to actually hear the person across from you, go when we did. Going back to check out the live music for myself.

When we asked our waitress for silverware, she responded by asking if we needed more, even though none had been provided in the first place. We also had to ask for straws four separate times and never received them. When the appetizer plates finally arrived, they were still wet and we had to dry them ourselves before using them. Throughout the meal, our waitress rarely checked on our table, making it difficult to get anything we needed. While we enjoyed the food, the poor service made the overall experience disappointing. Unless there are significant improvements in service, we will not be returning.

74 Moraga Way Orinda, CA 94563…read more This was my first time at Maya Mexican Grill in downtown Orinda. It was around 5:30pm, and I ordered "Tacos De Pescado." Which is 2 Saute Fish Tacos for $10.95. Took about 10 minutes, and I got my order w/ chips. How was the fish tacos? Easy to eat, fresh fish, but very little flavor. Maybe some salt and pepper might of helped. Also, not very filling. I won't order this again. I went back and ordered a "Burrito W/ 1 Filling" w/ shredded steak and refried beans. (Price $12.50). Very good burrito. Nice balance of steak, beans and rice. Fresh salsa gave it a delicious mix of flavors. Easy to eat. The restaurant itself is small, with large tables in the center and a small table. There's a bar for sitting at the window. All the parking spaces in front are "green 1-hour" zones. Would I return? YES....food is good, if you know what to order. Service was very friendly and prompt.

The guac was literally mashed avocado, not even salted or with traditional ingredients. The onions & tomatoes didn't taste fresh either.
