Tortilla soup or some thick mole?
Jackie O.

The owners daughter Nancy was not only very rude but didn't try to accommodate us. Our surgery center always orders from them. We all got tortilla soup. It's usually to our liking this time it was extremely thick and had no consomé, or juice. Instead of a soup it looked like a mole. She said she can have her dad call Me back and if I doent like it I don't need to go back. Very rude and unprofessional!! I asked her if we can get a credit and she refused. Their customer service is horrible. I'm honestly very disappointed and I hope The owner can rectify how they conduct business and how they treat their customers.

Quesabirria's $16

Let's talk about my order. I ordered 2 quesabirria's. The tortilla was perfect. One tortilla and crispy on the outside. The amount of meat in the inside was okay. It could have used more. They also added the cilantro and onion on the inside. It was tasty. The consomé, was delicious. Just the right Amish t of flavor. The service was good. I was attended right away. Even though I didn't see a quesabirria plate they young man at the register knew exactly what I wanted. The restaurant itself is very Mexican. Colorful tables, walls and Mexican decor. The tables all needed to be wiped down and the bathroom didn't have enough soap to wash my hands properly. It needed to be cleaner as well. Over all I would recommend this place for the "tacos de birria" also known as quesabirria's. I would say for the price, there should definitely be more meat in the tacos.

Enchiladas and Tacos

Relocated to Walnut Creek Ca. In Visalia and Modesto it was easy to find good Mexican food but here in the Tri Valley East Bay the Mexican food is kinda bland and boring at most places. I saw this restaurant while driving home so I stopped and Ordered a 2 Choice Shredded Chicken Enchilada plate, 2 Asada Tacos, Large drink and 5(yea yea) Helados Ice Cream bars. It was To Go so Got home and when I opened the box I was happily surprised at the smell and presentation. How did it taste though right? AMAZING, The kind of food that makes you happy after you eat, I loved it so much I had the same thing for dinner the next day!! Large portions and very inexpensive for that quality of food. Beans and Rice were also winners!! I don't really wanna share so I can hog this place to myself but I would love for their business to succeed. Try it out, you might see me there!!!!

Soft Tacos

I ordered 4 tacos: asada, chicken, carnitas and Al pastor . The Al pastor was bland, everything else was decent. The alpastor tasted like a failed version of adobada. The place lacks a bit of authenticity as they serve taco salad and taco shells, lol Taco Bell who? The staff were mentioning " translated from Spanish [no one gives us donations] " . Well some culture to learn tips are good token of appreciation not an entitlement. season the Al pastor and maybe we'll donate. Tacos were acceptable but one but I would not prioritize coming here .

Carnitas plate, pastor tacos

First time at this place during the middle of the day. Mariachi is a friendly place with good service. The inside is clean but no salsa bar so to-go order it is! The food is solid. The carnitas plate was a good portion and comes with an option of soft or hard tortilla. The carnitas itself had a good crispy exterior with a moist interior. Also got a shrimp burrito, this was a bit of a surprise because it was fairly spicy - wasn't expecting this and didn't ask for it to be spicy - still good overall. The pastor tacos also delicious. The side chips were fresh and crispy. Price wise, this place was on the higher side, but then again with inflation these days everything is creeping up.

Carnitas burrito.

I usually walk the Heather Farms Trail that runs perpendicular to the Bancroft/Treat shopping center and noticed Mariachi Mexican Grill. A friend and I usually eat at one of the establishments over on Monument Blvd but decide to give this place a try. I'm a carnitas guy but enjoy a good al pastor taco. I decided to go for a carnitas crunchy taco, two al pastor soft tacos and a Diet Coke for the carbonation that goes well with all things fried. My buddy went for a carnitas burrito. The food came with a side of chips too. I'm a salt guy so anything salty tastes good to me but not necessarily over salted. I liked the carnitas in the crunchy taco but sadly the taco shell tasted like a store bought shell that needs to be heated. Unfortunately the taco shell was stone cold so it wasn't quite crunchy but had that slight crunch, slight chewy texture. The al pastor tacos came on two street taco size tortillas that were grilled which added a nice touch. I'm not sure if the salsa over powered the al pastor or if the seasoning on the al pastor was very mild. I really couldn't taste the al pastor but the food in general wasn't bad. The chips unfortunately like the taco shell, were not warm so they weren't really crunchy. My buddy said his burrito was okay. The carnitas were a bit salty for him so I'm not sure if the carnitas I got was from the same batch or if my salt tolerance is higher. He mentioned that the ratio of meat to the other ingredients was a bit light. I'll give the place a try again and see if I find something that stands out. The prices are reasonable, $2.10 a taco crunchy or soft. The workers are pleasant, not overly friendly but they do serve your food to your table.

Meat was brunt and very dry. Great customer service tho.

There's a ton of seating inside, and everything is very spacious. Though, I do have to say it always feels incredibly empty for some reason and there's never anybody actually inside outside of a few tables, but they do have tons of takeout so perhaps that's the tradeoff. However, don't let the lack of eating patrons inside the place put you off. This taqueria offers a good variety of different options as any taqueria would offer, and many of the options have pictures and stuff with it. The service here is, kind of hit or miss. The people in the front usually aren't overly friendly, and will sometimes feel like they're just there until the clock turns work over. Sometimes they're bordering on rude as they just kind of give you an indifferent stare as you're ordering, or will just feel as if they're half listening and not even looking up. The service was a bit better when I dined in, so perhaps maybe it's just the takeout, although it's usually the same person for both. Price wise, it's certainly not going to be cheap. If you want the best bang for your buck around here, El Aguila probably won't be it as there's a plethora of taquerias in this area. Food quality wise, it's pretty good overall. There are some tasty dishes here that will certainly warrant the little bit of extra cost here compared to other places. Things that I have tried here are the burritos and the torta. The burritos here are yummy as they they will have ingredients inside the burrito that is slightly different than your cookie cutter burrito at any other place. It really does help adds layers of flavor to it that other places do not offer. However, the best part of it is indeed the fact they grill the outside of the burrito to get that nice flakiness that wrap, and makes it a oh so rewarding experience. Meat portions was okay, but wish it had more especially for the cost. The torta I got was pretty good, as the ingredients inside were pretty typical so nothing really stood out. The break was toasted well, but I do wish it was a bit softer as it may have been to toasted. Should be toasted outside and soft inside, but this one just felt toasted all over. The meat portion also suffers from the same issue as the burrito as that it's not as generous as it could be. However, the flavors and taste were fine. It's certainly a nice place for those who want a bit of a different style of their Mexican cuisine. They have some flavors here that will be atypical of most of the cookie cutter taquerias around. While they are a bit expensive comparatively, the portions are actually decent (minus the meats). You can certainly be filled with just a single burrito. Worth a visit.

The food justifies the number of people here and they have plenty of space to sit if you want to eat in. The carne asada burrito might be the best I've ever had. Right up there with Taqueria Cancun in the city. Insanely good tasty juicy carne asada. Incredible tortillas. I loved it. Service was quick even though there were about 30-40 people there for lunch. 100% coming back and trying everything.

Which is a shame since the food was excellent. The classic margarita was delicious and made with Arette tequila, which is one of my favorites. It was fresh tasting and well balanced. I would have had a lot more if I wasn't on a work budget. We split the Molotitos appetizer which was fried corn masa with a hodgepodge of fillings and toppings. They were good and bigger than I thought they would be. Definitely good for sharing, or even for a meal. They were a little dry, but they were topped with lots to goodies. I ordered the Shrimp Asados for my meal which was a fresh tasting grilled shrimp dish with veggies and quinoa... only they forgot the quinoa. After over an hour of waiting for it, I wasn't going to ask for some... not that I could as the waitress didn't really come back to the table that often. My colleague got the Mole Chicken and wow, that mole sauce was delicious. It also came with freshly made tortillas which made all the difference in that dish. The place was pretty big with outdoor dining and we were lucky enough to snag a table outside with very little wait... but ended up waiting a lot for the food. I think we were there for over 2 hours and left shortly after we finished our meals. Good food thought but man... figure out that service!
