The vibe of this place was very cute. It did feel like we were in a big house, which fits with the name. We waited about 40 minutes for a table and went to check out the bar while we waited. There was live music, but trying to get a drink took a while. On top of that, the drinks were so strong they weren't enjoyable. Two margaritas and you were drunk! Some might enjoy that, but when you're trying to have a drink with dinner, it was slightly over the top. Once we were sat, our service was below average. It felt like they stuck us in a back corner and forgot about us. The chips and salsa were good, but the chips were a mix of flour and corn. Someone in the group has Celiac Disease so having them mixed is dangerous! We were able to get a basket of just corn. We also asked for a side of habanero salsa for the chips and they brought out buffalo sauce- no joke. They then tried to charge us $4 for it. Be careful of your bill! The entrance into Casa Estrella from the outside world was quite relaxing and a nice landscape. As you enter the restaurant, it's quite dark but comfortable. Customer service is great! The food is absolutely yummy! The band that was playing the night we were there had the same rhythm to all their song's. A great country band and country music would be wonderful. I called to find out the wait time & ask if they could do reservations over the phone and they didn't answer the phone. We arrived and the two hostesses were sitting at the check in table, with the phone right next to them. They proceeded to tell us they don't do over the phone reservations (totally fine.) They could've at least answered the phone to tell me it would be 45-60min to be seated so I didn't waste my time driving to the restaurant. I understand they were busy, but that little bit of customer service would've gone a long way. Needless to say we left. Maybe we can try the food some other time. read more

We have eaten many meals at Casa Estrella over the past year and it is always very enjoyable. The food is consistently delicious and the live music is a major plus. Service is typically friendly but slow and inattentive. We try to be understanding because staffing is a pain for everyone right now. Again, the food and atmosphere outside mostly makes up for it. Normally we are finished with our food before the servers follow up for margarita refills. If they came by the table more frequently, we would definitely spend more money on drinks. We did have lunch there during the summer, and I picked a plastic o-ring out of our salsa. The server watched me do it, so I didn't escalate the situation. It was obviously from something in the kitchen, and he saw me pick it from the salsa and place it on the table. My husband later suggested I escalate that kind of thing, as it is definitely a choking hazard. I just didn't think that fast. This is the only time that has happened, and we will still return. DO NOT COME here if you have bigger parties!! They will not accommodate you or your party. Not even give you the courtesy of water on a hot day waiting outside, although the wait time was "45 minutes." Waited for a hour +, then they stated that the table was ready however there wasn't enough staff to wait for our table when there was multiple smaller parties who were being seated before us who go there AFTER us. Yet there was enough staff to accommodate the smaller tables than our big table. It was freezing inside all the doors were open and it was in the high 40s when we left. My steak was charred and black on one side and grey on the other, it was Luke warm, felt like room temperature of a normal building not a freezing one. It tasted burnt, we got here at 6:30pm and left at 10pm. I never got a refill of my one water they gave me. I ordered it medium rare. The wait was over an hour and we were told 45 minutes. They were confusing everyone with all the different check in rules. Half the tables were not even being used. Staff was nice but I had such a bad experience besides that. I watched the owners son yell out one of the employees While waiting for the girls to get out of the restroom, Then an employee, he was talking to left, crying after talking to him. We put in a to go order. It was done quickly. But Holy Molly was it not ... "authentic", as advertised. We ordered an El Jefe Burrito and a Shredded Beef Chimichanga. The burrito is acceptable (I say is because my husband is hungry and is eating it as I type). The chimichanga is disgusting. I'm so hungry and I'm trying so hard to like it but I can't. What they try to call mole is nothing but a dry, chunky red salsa. You're gonna tell me you can't get a Dona Maria mole sauce from the store if you don't know how to make your own mole? You throw a stone and you hit a Mexican here (I am Mexican before you start with your stuff). You're gonna tell me you can't get a decent mole recipe? What they tried to pass for a chimichanga is a soggy burrito. I get it, a chimichanga is a successful abomination of a fried burrito that is not technically Mexican food (it's a Tucson invention). But why are you advertising it if you're not gonna make it right? Fry that freaking thing like the Good Lord deemed it or don't say you say chimichangas! Soggy soggy soggy and not good. Not the salsa, not the texture. The refried beans were good and apparently that's all I'm eating tonight. Out of a 16.00 quick meal I'm getting about 2 ounces of good beans. Ok so where do I start... So this place is only open 3 days out of the week so you think "Wow this place most be outstanding to only be open 3 days a week". Well we were soon proven very wrong.. First of all, we got there around 5:15 and put our name down for a table originally we were told 20-25 minutes okay cool, but that then turned to 35 minutes, and hour later we had 4 people still infront of us according to the hostess. Another 30-45 minutes we finally get called, we get seated in a section of the restaurant that was pretty much empty.. So why the long wait exactly?? So we were a bit hangry after having to wait almost 2 hours for a table, we get the chips and salsa, there were two kind of chips mixed together flour and corn, the flour chips were probably the best thing I had here, the corn chips however tasted stale, old and flavorless, we kind of came to the conclusion that they had mixed old stale corn chips in with fresh flour ones. We ordered the calamari, guacamole and stuffed jalapeños, the waitress came back to tell us that they were out of calamari? On the first night of the week that they are open? Seems a like some poor planning maybe, but okay whatever so we just got the other two, the guacamole was literally just avocado nothing else and they gave us half of an unripened one, hard as a rock. The stuffed jalapeños were whatever except for the one that they forgot to take the seeds out of... Yikes! My poor husband literally had the misfortune of biting into that one and he almost lost his appetite after that. I got the fajitas and they were whatever, the chicken and shrimp were okay but not super flavorful, the steak sucked, dry, chewy and not much flavor at all. The rice was not very good and the beans werent great either. Very disappointing to say the least, the flour chips were the best part, but we figured out how they can only be open 3 days a week, they just make their guest wait for an outrageous amount of time until they are so hungry they dont really care what the food tastes like. read more

What a gem in the city of Fallbrook! The outside may trick your mind into thinking you are dining somewhere else, and not at an awesome Mexican restaurant. Once inside, you feel and smell the Mexican come alive. The service is always on point and quick. The food is fresh and the wanton chips are amazing. The plates are large as well, so unless you intend on having left overs, you may want to share. The only reason I gave (4) stars instead of (5) would be the location. It is off a really busy street, and if you don't know where you are going... you will pass it because you are keeping with the flow of the crazy traffic. If you pass it, it is not easy to turn around to go back. Dine of Dash? Dine... I will be sure to drive slower! read more

Highly recommend going to Casa Estrella and eager to go back again. Be sure to ask for Crystal, she was the very best. She was so tentative in getting everyone's orders correct and personally making sure our event was perfect. Everyone there was so helpful and caring in making our day very special. Had our first visit last evening. The food, atmosphere, and band were excellent. Wait staff, not so much. I do not know if they were understaffed or if we just had an inefficient waiter. We barely saw him for most of our visit. When he brought our food, we asked for drink refills. We didn't see him again until he brought our check. We never did get our drinks. An efficient, and properly staffed wait crew would increase table turnover, reduce the wait time to get a table, and most likely increase the ability to serve more customers. read more

Casa Estrada deserved a ZERO tonight. I can give the margaritas and chips and salsa a thumbs up, but the staff is inattentive. We were here for a birthday and waited for a reserved table, where the reserver arrived an hour early and indicated they were in the bar. Over an hour later we checked. They claimed they called us twice and lined out our name, even though there was a birthday cake in their possession for the party. The bar staff was surly and rude, when asked for chips and salsa for our patrons who where unable to wait for the late service. Likely won't return. Soooooooo my friend brought me here last night. He literally lives across the street so it was nice to not have to drive and know we can drink without wondering about how to get home. Luckily the only thing we had to worry about was walking across the death street where cars are driving fast as hell...but I mean c'mon two drunks darting across the street is better than drunk driving!! . happy to report we made it across the street with no injuries!! :) So this place was on and popping before we even got there. There was a wedding in the back and the band was lit. My friend has a deck and I could hear the music from there. We walked down and funny enough I saw my cousin and his gf there. He was like this is the place to be in this area. With my cousin telling me this I knew it would be good. I found out the brothers that own this place are mutual friends of some other friends of mine so I relaxed even more. We started off with regular margaritas which were delicious. I'm not a margarita drinker but my friend ordered it for me and I was like ok thanks. Lol. Then I saw this beautiful show at the bar ...one of the bartenders looked like they were straight up at a Michoacána preparing a chamango ...low and behold that's exactly what this guy was doing. A Chamango margarita ...i looked at my friend like that sloth in zootopia with his eyes bulging with happiness (I'll attach a pic for reference lol) he laughed and was like ..."can you guys get her a mango Chamoy margarita pls" I was in heaven it was so good!!! My friend stayed true to his regular margaritas I was in heaven with mine. Their bathrooms are clean and small. Staff is hella friendly and they take care of you. We really didnt have to call them over, they would see our drinks low and would fill us up. So they are very attentive. Around 9p I wanted to order food but had heard the kitchen closed at 9 so I was like it's cool I'll buy something on my way home. Luckily it looked like the kitchen was still semi open due to how busy it was so the guys came back and let me know so I could order something, which I thought was sweet. I know people are trying to go home, so I appreciated they let me order. I ordered an easy peasy quesadilla with chicken, I wanted to sober up so I could drive home. It Was actually pretty good for something so simple. Then again I was drinking and hungry lol, but I still thought it was good. I loved the decor and as you all know how much I love Frida Kahlo, there was a mural/picture of them on the wall as soon as you walk in (Diego Rivera and Frida kahlo).
