A group of 8 friends met at Casa de Oro for some socializing. Our first impression was that the atmosphere was nice, the décor right for a Mexican Restaurant and plenty of parking. When the party was seated we were told that it was Happy Hour and that the appetizers were 1/2 priced and there were bar specials too. Cool added bonus. Some of the group ordered complete dinners and some choose to take advantage of the appetizer specials. Megan, who waited on us, was efficient and a good sport being as we are a fun group of friends. I ordered the nachos and they were boring, both people next to me ordered burritos, seafood and carne asada. Both burritos were short on sauce and the seafood in the burrito was made of shrimp pieces and I did not detect any other seafood. Unfortunately those of us who choose to order appetizers found our checks to be more than we expected. Apparently, when we were told about the 1/2 price appetizer specials the detail part that not all choices were included in the special had not been disclosed. Personally, had we been told we would have made different choices in what we ordered from the menu and the management would not had unhappy customers. My suggestion if you decide to go to this restaurant that you ask more questions than just what is going to be on your plate. Get the details on prices so that you know what to expect at the end. The final ticket made for the final visit for me. read more

WARNING: do not come to this restaurant if you want: -polite staff -a manager who cares about his customer base -a menu with clear items So here's the full story: It's bloomsday weekend here in Spokane, most restaurants are very busy--we understand that. We called ahead to ask if a table would be available this evening, and the staff could not provide us with an answer (we have a party of 12)--again, we understand, it's a big party and busy weekend so we went down and decided to wing it. They were able to fit us in immediately, yay! The adult members of our party wanted to order a drink, and this is where the trouble started. We could not get the happy hour deals despite it being the proper time because we were not sitting in the bar area (there were children in the party). Food ordering was difficult due to the crowded atmosphere and slight communication barrier (again, understandable but annoying) and it took about 20 minutes for the food to arrive. Most dishes in our party were correct, but mine (I ordered the Casa De Oro burrito) was not--the burrito menu clearly states that all items are served with rice and beans, and my burrito came with rice and beans in the burrito but none on the side. When I asked the staff about this (and pointed out that the menu said the item came with the sides) I was blown off and told I was not telling the truth. I decided I wasn't going to make my party wait while they fixed the dish, and asked it to be returned to the kitchen and taken off my bill. Because of this we received OPEN RIDICULE from our waiter, calling us a "problem table" and completely ignoring me when I tried to garner his attention. At that point I asked for a manager, told him the situation, showed him the menu and inconsistency in the item and he insisted that because there were rice and beans inside the burrito, it did not also come on the side. This wasn't specified on the menu, and he basically stared at me with glazed over eyes and said "uh-huh". I told him his staff was rude, same dead eyed stare. I eventually gave up and walked away, made sure it was taken off the bill and walked out, warning every customer in my wake that the servers won't be happy if they have to actually work and be polite for their money. read more

This is the traditional drinking hole of my mother and I. We come here every time I'm in Spokane. She is not a big drinker, but can always be enticed out for a margarita with the glee of a naughty temp on their lunch break. I think the major draw is that it is the closest place with a happy hour to her house, and the half-off appetizers are fairly tasty. The cantina decor is what you would probably hope for...lazily spinning fans that go regardless of the fact it is indeed 32 degrees outside, burros, sombreros, etc. And the drinks have that strange Inland Northwest flair that scoffs at authenticity and instead goes for what the post-work or hometown-trapped drinker wants, a buzz: I had a Snowblower and a candy sweet Huckleberry margarita. Not amazing, but definitely hit the spot. read more

We stopped in for an early dinner on our day trip to Spokane. My husband's parents are originally from Spokane, so he has been to this location. He had a raving review for the spicy pollo a la crema (the only dish I ever order at Mexican restaurants). We both ordered that dish. The salsa was okay but Zach the Salsa Expert said that it tasted like it came from a jar. They also brought a bowl of beans for our chips in and I thought it was nice to have a warm and cold dip. The pollo a la cremas came and it was the best that either of us has ever had. The sauce had roasted chipotles so it was a little bit smokey and perfectly spiced. We will definitely be going back. The decor was actually pretty nice and the building was large, bright, and clean. Our waiter was attentive but not exactly friendly. I think that he might have been the manager because he was giving orders to other employees. When he wasn't helping at the tables, he just stood by a wall and watched us eat. It made me a little bit uncomfortable but I figured that he was just enjoying downtime before the dinner rush. read more

Again went here for a birthday for someone and sadly this time it was just horrendous. Food was not good but service was worse. After this experience I will not be back. Way to many good Mexican restaurants in our area to try it again. Disappointed. read more

First the good parts... Nice atmosphere... authentic music playing overhead... An interesting plus was they served beans with the chips and salsa when you first sit down... I've never seen that before and they were very good. Good rice and beans (different style) with my combo plate. The Service was very good. The cheese enchilada was excellent. The water was EXCELLENT. Now the bad parts... The chips are NOT-AUTHENTIC and the taco shell is NOT-AUTHENTIC. The meat in the taco looked almost raw... when I pointed that out to my server she said it was the spices they used and I said, "Oh yeah... what spices are those?" She said, "Paprika." Well... I've been cooking for YEARS and have never seen paprika or any mexican restaurant in the world with meat that color!!! A little bit later she came back and asked if I'd like something different which was nice, but I declined. I literally burned my finger to a blister from the PLATE which was served too HOT!!! I appreciate hot food, but they should let the plate cool down a bit before serving it to customers. OUCH!!! read more

WARNING: THE MANAGER IS HORRID Our order was wrong and our waiter told us off saying "Didn't know you were a PROBLEM table" when I tried to complain the manager blew us off. The worst experience I have had in a long time and will be telling anyone I can to go somewhere else read more

So what I basically got from this MEXICAN restaurant is that the chef isn't advanced enough to put Carne de Asada in a Quesadilla but a regular Taco stand could? I was left with a chicken quesadilla that was a bit underwhelming, the beans, chips, and salsa you get for the wait when you enter the restaurant were the best thing for me... would not come here again... read more

Worst Mexican food I've had in a really long time. Too bad! It was an uncle's favorite spot but apart from the free chips, salsa, and beans, there wasn't much else to like about the meal. The meats I had in my combo plate (shredded beef and chicken) tasted like all the flavor had been boiled out of them. Everything from the guacamole to the meat was bland. Portion sizes are big, but who needs a big portion of bland food? Probably the best thing I tried was the rice and only because it was chewy (I do like chewy things =)). They also do not allow dogs on the patio in case you have a non service animal you are trying to accommodate. I'm fine with Tex-Mex or westernized Mexican food generally but unfortunately this one's a miss. read more

Good food, I had the flautas, fast service, and nice ambiance. I never went to the restaurant that was there before Casa De Oro, but o certainly like this new one read more

Casa De Oro - Mexican Near Me - Spokane, Washington

I have only eaten at this restaurant once. Its a bit pricey for the food quality. I don't recall exactly what I ordered when I dined there, but the "beef" version of whatever it was tasted like it came out of a sloppy joe can. If I do ever eat there again, I will not order anything with beef. The drinks were not too pricey, but also not as cheap as I am accustomed to at some other places. And they do not contain much alcohol. The atmosphere is very nice and the service was as well. The food needs major improvement in my opinion. In order for me to eat there again, I would like to see $5 margaritas (just a standard mix). I would also like to have real-tasting beef. Thicker salsa would be nice. Maybe a little cheaper on their menu, or at least make the food worth the money in quality. I actually preferred Azteca Mexican Restaurant over Casa De Oro. read more

Good food and friendly employees! I would recommend this restaurant for inside dining Mexican food

I paid almost $60 for dinner for my husband and I and I ordered two tacos with beans and rice, my tacos tasted like they was from Taco Bell, if i wanted Taco Bell I would have went there. We had also order two cheese enchiladas for $14 for two tiny enchiladas without beans and rice! The food was very bland and on top of all of that the person who took our order didn't know half of the answers to our questions about the food. I'm honestly really disappointed because this place has great reviews and that is why I went there! And when I called and talked to the Owner he said how he could show me how much it cost to make the enchiladas! read more

This place use to be our go to when we went to Spokane- not anymore. They have recently raised the prices $7+ per dish!!! Carne Asada is now $19 ( it use to be $12) and Fajitas are about the same ( use to be $11). Check out their menu online http://www.c-we.com/casa.de.oro/menu4.htm and compare it to their written in menu prices at the restaurant. I'm not one to be rude and walk out of a restaurant, but when it will cost our family over $30 more to eat our regular meals due to their prices being raised, I have no problem walking out- which we did. If you are going to raise your prices, be reasonable and stay competitive. I'll never go back. read more

I cannot say anything worse then I will never go back. I ordered guacamole and when it came it was on a salad that was on the hot plates. The guacamole had melted to into the salad and was not eatable. When I mentioned to the waiter he apologized, nothing else. That was annoying but what tipped the scale was when I got the check and on it was four dollars for the guacamole that I couldn't eat. I mentioned it to the waiter he told me there was nothing he could do, so I asked for his manager. The owner came over and he told me that there was 3 ounces and that he pays for it so I have to pay for it. I asked him if there was anything he can do before he looses us a customer (mind you at this point we had been going every Friday night for about three months) he said no. I told him that he just lost customers that would have been long time customers and he shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I will never go in and now every time we drive by whom ever I'm will I explain the horrible service. Horrible! Want a good Mexican restaurant go to Ranch Chico! Best Mexican food I have ever had and the best service. read more

Avoid this place! We saw this place and thought it looked dodgy from the outside, but decided to give it a chance anyway, well it turns out it IS a dodgy little place. Avoid, avoid, avoid not a great place for anybody. Service sucked, food was some of the worst I've had, it wasn't even cooked!! Places like these need to go. read more

Don't waste your time here. A waitress was too dumb. I had to repeat and clarify my order to him. The food was not that good. Too bland and no seasoning on food. Nothing exciting. Rice and beans were boring. We asked them to bring some small ice cream for 2 kids and they brought 4 huge sized plates w ice cream for adult. They didnt get our orders right. The services were slow too. Seriously that waitress needs to be fired. The only thing I like here is a cute woman at the front desk. read more

My new favorite Mexican restaurant! Excellent salsa and chips while waiting. Our server Michael was excellent and friendly. The food came out quick and was delicious. The salsa was so good that we purchase a 16oz cup of it to take home. Serving size was too much for me haha looking forward to the leftovers. Great experience all around and it didn't break the bank. read more

My wife had a bad experience at Casa De Oro many years ago, but I finally talked her into going and we had a great night. The service here is top notch. From the moment you walk into the door and are greeted by the Host. The server was great and he was very attentive but not overly--which is a fine line! The food is awesome and reasonably priced. I had the Flautus (which they made into a meal for me--usually it is an app). My partner had the Fajitas and he loved the array of veggies. My boy had a kids taco with FRIES (haha! Thanks Casa D for putting an American flare for kiddo!). It is by far the best experience in a Spokane restaurant that I have had in a while. We will make this our go to place at least once a month. read more

HORRIBLE manager blew us off when we tried to tell him the staff was rude. Horrid service and our food was wrong. Will never be back read more

Decided to stop here since we thought it was the place that had been recommended by a family member. (Not so sure now.) We were brought chips with salsa and bean dip. The salsa was very good, but the chips were a basket of crumbs and rather stale tasting. We were brought some more when we asked. My enchiladas were OK, but my wife's tacos were not good. The top one had the bottom blown out. None of them could be picked up. Between the chips and that, it would appear to be a lack of concern for quality control. Considering the quality and the price, we won't be back. We have found a number of Mexican places we prefer: Deleon's, Gerardo's, Atilanos and Taqueria Fiesta Brava. read more

We have been back a couple of times this year. I really enjoy the Buffalo Hot Wings, even tho they don't put any Buffalo sauce on them. They are crispy and meaty .I have gotten the Albongidas Soup twice and really enjoyed it last night when we went it was not available, it's a seasonal item??? The food is prepared well, but is very very bland. We can not be the only people in Spokane that would like a little flavor -able heat added to the "authentic "Mexican dishes the local Mexican Restaurants cook. My husband wanted a Carne Asada Burrito but the price of $16.95 was to high, all the burritos with meat were priced at $16.95. I think they will not be selling many of those anymore. I don't mind expensive if it tastes amazing, the food here is just very bland and un-inspired. read more

Solid, authentic Mexican food at a very reasonable price. The staff were attentive.

I thought the food was pretty good. Their salsa was decent and who can't love a place that gives you bean dip too. I had the shredded beef enchildas but made the mistake of having the mole sauce which was not impressive. The shredded beef was what really made the difference because it was so great! My bf had the ground beef in his taco and wasn't nearly as good. Shredded beef or chicken is the only way to go. Overall, it was pretty good, filling Mexican food. read more

Good and decent food. The price is right. I like the beans with the chips. They also stayed open late to let us have diner and were very gracious. read more

Have driven by this place several times and decided to stop for a late lunch. Restaurant was slow, with a handful of patrons. I placed my order within a few minutes of the booth next to me and at least 10 minutes before a large group. The booth next to me had their food in 10 minutes. I finally asked the waitress to check on my order after 25 minutes passed. She brought out fajitas on a lukewarm platter. A few minutes later the wait staff delivered two sizzling platters of fajitas to the large group. When I complained to the waitress, she touched my platter and said it was still hot. Just okay food and a drink, plus crappy service on a slow day, for $20? I will NOT be back. read more

Have tried a number of Mexican restaurants and this is one of the best and certainly the best of Spokane for food quality and service. Enjoyed the tamales and the chimmy. The service was prompt and the meal was brought to the table quickly. The chips come with not only a salsa dip but also with a bean dip. I si my 'go to' Mexican restaurant. read more

Went here for dinner last night with my family. The food was way overpriced ($20) for the average dinner and close to $8 for the kids menu! I went with steak fajitas which they ruined by marinating the steak in soy sauce, my daughter had vegetable fajitas which were also pretty nasty. The service....not much of it. I for one will never go back! read more

Pricey for mediocre best describes this Faux Mexican restaurant felt like was I time warped into the late 90's. Asked for a side of cotija and was the reply was "what's that?" face-palm! Our waitress was busy playing with her phone while someone else cleaned up her tables. Food arrived and I started to dig in, didn't I order a tostada? What I received was a soggy taco shell with meat and lettuce for filling. Fyi, a tostada is supposed to be crunchy on the bottom beans, meat, cheese, toppings. Relleno was good but skimpy on the cheese, all though the Verde pork Enchilada was fantastic. Will make sure to come back just going to ask for a different server next time. read more

At least one of the other customers/reviewers were allowed to stay late and feel welcome, we sure didnt feel that way. We walked in at 9:15 with our 17 year old son, a server/host met us at door and was ready to seat us. We asked to eat outside, he said sure, but our son would need to go around. I walked outside with him, and my husband was led through the bar by host. As soon as he hit the bar the host peeled off and disappeared. My husband came outside on his own, with out menus etc. I sent him back in, and as one bar server handed him menus, the bartender ripped into her about her not closing down outside before anyone else sat down, this conversation continued in front of my husband as he tried to order drinks. When he came out with menus he was followed by the server, and the bartender. The server nervously gave us water, and took our drink orders, as the main bartender started angrily stacking chairs right behind me. She slammed one right into my back, no apologies just continued to make it obvious we were not wanted. Why did we stay??? When a 17 year old boy wants Mexican he gets Mexican... We ordered, and the food was not a band aid or a compromise for horrible service... I ordered "large black prawns" which were rubbery and horrible and maybe a 30 count size. The server we had did her best, but I am sure she was getting yelled out in the bar anytime she left us, because she seemed on verge of tears at all times. She was tipped well, but I will NEVER BE BACK, and will let everyone know at the house we are renting (through the guest book and info folder) not to ever step foot in that restaurant. A bad meal can be forgiven, we all have off nights... Bad service is unforgivable and remembered 10 fold read more

My favorite Mexican in Spokane. You have to go to the division location as the others are not the same. The carne asada burrito is my absolute favorite! The steak tastes like it's been barbecued and is very tender! My boyfriend always gets something different and he's always happy with whatever he orders. We always sit in the bar and the service is always spot on!! I usually get a Long Island and they make it strong and good. I only wish it was closer to my house as I would frequent it much more often. read more

This place has a great atmosphere, and an amazing bar. We came here a couple times before, and had pretty decent food. We ordered a couple of different combination plates. And they tasted fine. We came here on New Year's eve to eat with our family, and ordered the heat is. We ordered steak fajitas, chicken fajitas, and shrimp fajitas. The shrimp fajitas were tasty, but the chicken fajitas were disgusting. They tasted like they were marinated in pure sugar. The steak the heat is we're not much better. They were sweet and if I hadn't tasted the chicken fajitas I would've thought they were disgusting too. But the chicken fajitas were so gross that that made the steak but he does taste tolerable. This is a good place to go for basic combinations. But do not order the fajitas!!! read more
