Quesadilla with Chicken
Tisha R.

The food is delicious. I ordered the quesadillas with chicken. It was filling but I didn't leave stuffed. We were seated upon arrival and drink orders were taken. The kind server came back within a reasonable time to take our food order. It was a good first experience. The restroom was decent. The restaurant wasn't crowded.

It was OK. We probably won't be back. When you walk in you smell that old building smell. It felt like the vibe was missing something. It seemed dark and drab. The food was just OK. I guess I expected a lot more. They have great menus! The service was OK. The dinner crowd was starting to arrive. It was a Friday afternoon.

The food was pretty good. Probably some of the best I've had in a long time. Was not disappointed. The plates have big portions which is a plus. All in all would recommend to family and friends.

We have came here a few times since our first visit and every time we have absolutely loved our food and service, for dinner or brunch this place is so wonderful. My picky 1.5 year old loved his food so much he even licked his plate when he was done. We bring family here when they come to Arizona to show them this place because it's our new favorite place to eat and it's never too busy. Would give them 10 stars if I could.

Molcajete was so delicious definitely recommend if you want a little buffet for one lol!

Casa de Leyva we will be back !! The staff were so nice and we even got to meet the chef to let him know how great his menu and food is! It was truly delicious and great to see such authentic dishes on the menu!! If your looking for a great Mexican restaurant go to casa de Leyva it's so cute inside as well

Chicken mole and small Menudo.

Our family is pretty picky when it comes to Mexican food. This is definitely AUTHENTIC Mexican food. I was a big fan of the chicken mole. My MIL was a fan of their Menudo. Will definitely come back with the family. The vibe was great with current music and a beautifully designed dining room. Service was also great

I asked for a tall Modelo and I got what I asked for, this tall and extra-wide; so wide it had three limes.

Main Street Buckeye is a place out of time and Casa de Leyva fits right in. It's authentic, feels like it's been waiting for you a hundred years. You step on the dirt parking lot, enter through the back, and before you pull open the rough hacienda style doors, you're already living the experience. If you sit at the rustic wood-plank bar, ask for a tall beer and crunch on their tortilla chips while they pour you a massive drink. Despite the feel, they're new, so we'll see how they do in real time, but if you're looking for a unique experience, it's worth stepping off the concrete malls in the suburb.

Enchiladas - cheese although the menu was for chicken

The business is under new owners with a new menu. They have just opened, and have some kinks to work out. Service was great with our waitress, but there were just 2 waitresses and the place was pretty busy at lunchtime. I'm hoping in time, that they consider doing some lunch specials. That would be my only "complaint". We have very few sit down places for lunch in Old Town, but it was almost $50 for 2 meals and 2 sodas, as they were dinner portions. I'm excited to try it out in a few more weeks and hopefully see some lunch portions.

Taco trio

Stopped in for lunch and wow- what an experience! Tacos were overflowing with juicy, perfectly seasoned meats - not just a sprinkle but absolutely packed. Every bite was full of flavor and satisfaction. I didn't try it this time, but they offer all-you-can-eat Taco Tuesday for just $19.99. Definitely coming back for that! If you love tacos done right, put this spot on the top of your list!

Pozole

The 4 star rating is only because the morning breakfast crowd ate all of the menudo; otherwise a 5 star is warranted. My party of 2 arrived near noon but breakfast was still being served. We ordered potato taquitos appetizer which is served with guacamole on a bed of lettuce. Tasty but I would prefer more seasoning on the potatoes. My wife had the pozole with beef And served with corn or flour tortillas. Beware: the soup is served in a huge bowl. The broth is a bit spicy and very flavorful. The meat was flavorful and tender and they didn't skimp on the amount given. I had beef chilaquiles with green salsa and 2 eggs. The steak was a good sized portion and perfectly cooked for my taste. The flavor was wonderful. The service was great; our server was friendly and attentive. We also spoke to the owners who were very friendly and gave us a brief history of the restaurant. The ambiance is what I would describe as rustic with a large open space for seating and I high ceiling. There is also a bar for those who want to have a drink as you wait for your table. All in all we enjoyed our meals and the experience.

The food tastes very bland, like it's missing a lot of taste. It isn't really "authentic" either.

I ordered an omelet with pancakes, and as someone who considers himself a bit of a pancake connoisseur, I can honestly say these were some of the best pancakes I've ever had. Light, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The omelet itself had to be at least five eggs and was loaded with meat -- definitely no skimping on portions here. Everyone at the table kept talking about how amazing their meals were. The service was equally impressive -- attentive, friendly, and polished, exactly what you'd expect from a high-end restaurant. Despite the busy holiday crowd, our food came out quickly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, almost like a cozy upscale bistro. While we were there, we noticed Heritage was participating in Arizona Restaurant Week for dinner, so naturally we had to come back and try it. Once again, we were blown away. I had the prime sirloin steak with potatoes, and my wife ordered the teriyaki chicken. It was a three-course meal, and every course was outstanding from start to finish. This is exactly the kind of restaurant Buckeye needs. We'll absolutely be returning many more times, especially since there are still so many breakfast and brunch items we want to try. Five stars from both my wife and me.

This building has been there for more than 100 yrs I would guess. It is worth the drive. Trust me. The owner, Maria, who was delightful and her youngest son, Marco, were there today. What a lovely youngman. As a Certified Chef who is retired but has never worked in a restaurant but knows great food and is a true Foody, I write my reviews from the standpoint of a customer who loves the whole culinary experience from the greeting to the door closing behind me. The following is how I rate each experience from 1 to 5 with 1 being awful and not recommended to 5 being outstanding and you've got to try this place. 1. The greeting: We were welcomed Marco and told to seat ourselves where we would like. 2. Atmosphere / Vibe: It wasn't to busy for the noon hour and the noise level was low with country music playing in the background just loud enough to hear but not to loud that you have to yell in order to have a conversation. It has that GREAT FAMILY RESTAURANT feeling to it. 3. Menu: A great selection of items to choose from. See their menu on their website. https://monroeskitchen.net/ 4. Service: Marco is a high school kid who works at his mom's restaurant when not in school. He is not by any means a "professional" server. He's just a hard working kid who was very tentative to our needs and easy to talk to. His tip reflected that as well. He kept our drinks filled and cleared empty plates in a timely manner while cleaning and restocking other tables. 5. Food prep & Presentation: I had the Hawaiian Burger which was cooked to perfection with the spicy fries and a side of onion rings. My wife had the Grilled Chicken Caprese Sandwich with the same fries. Everything was cooked completely and all was served hot at the same time. You can tell when something has been waiting under a heat lamp. This was not the case here. Portions were perfect for the person who is a big eater and for the one who doesn't mind taking home their leftovers. 6. Price Point: Price point is spot on for the portions. A good value. NOTE: It is well worth the drive. Call ahead as their hours change from now and then.

We also noticed that some newer employees were being trained alongside more experienced staff, which may have contributed to a few service hiccups. The restaurant is spacious, open, and inviting. surrounded by several other restaurants, including a sandwich shop and a Mediterranean restaurant. More businesses are opening nearby, and a Sprouts grocery store is expected to open across the street. There are also additional shops and restaurants farther down the street, making this an increasingly convenient dining and shopping destination. Our server was very friendly, and overall, the service was good. However, we had to ask multiple times for a few items. The appetizer we ordered did not arrive before our meals and eventually came after we had already received our food. We also had to follow up several times for boxes, bags, and additional cups. It seemed like the staff was still adjusting to training new employees, and some team members may have been relatively new themselves. A helpful tip would be to make sure requested items are delivered promptly and to keep track of side orders, especially appetizers that are expected to arrive before the main meal. Despite these minor issues, our overall experience was positive. The food was good, the restaurant was comfortable, and the staff was pleasant. With a little more attention to timing and follow-up, the service could be even better.

The building is old, which is fine it actually gives it character and charm inside. The issue is that it doesn't feel well maintained. The floors were dirty, and the bathrooms were also not clean, which took away from the overall experience. Customer service was nice. The lady with black hair who helped us was very friendly, and honestly, she made the experience a bit better. I almost feel bad pointing this out, but even small details stood out like her shoes looking dirty, not worn out, just not clean. I ordered the chile relleno, and it was my first time having it with red sauce. Not a big deal, but the sauce was surprising. It tasted more like Taco Bell sauce than an actual chile-based sauce. It definitely didn't resemble a chile colorado or anything close to a New Mexico or Anaheim chile flavor. The consistency was thick, more like a barbecue sauce, very similar to those packet sauces. The portions are big, which is a plus, but the flavor just isn't there. Overall, customer service is good, the building has charm, but the cleanliness is an issue, and the food doesn't stand out. Prices are okay maybe a little high for the location and condition of the place, but not extremely expensive.

I can't believe how good the flavors are... To be honest I'm still blown away by the fact this is in Downtown Buckeye!!! Definitely the best place in Buckeye to eat. Service was good.. our server was a wonderful young lady. Was pretty prompt on responding to the table. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A RESERVATION!!!! It's obvious that this place does one hell of a business. With that said they definitely need to expand. The chairs were pretty comfortable. Descent space between tables. My only complaint.... TURN THE FLIPPING MUSIC DOWN!!! It's a restaurant not a night club. If you expect people to spend $200 for a steak then allow people to talk at the table. Music should be a back ground. Not a competition between the guests at my table!! The manger lady. Super nice. Seems to run a tight ship. Would definitely hire her away if I owned a Restaurant.. She has the passion to drive the business!! Over all, we just loved this place. Amazing food, staff and ( next door Gelato) have truly been a huge impact downtown... I'm thankful to say Buckeye finally has a great place to eat. We will be back for sure! ( HOPEFULLY WITH MUSIC TURNED DOWN A BIT) Keep up the Great job! Thank you

They had a bunch of teenagers all with the same Edgar cut as servers, who acted like they had never worked a job before and didn't know what they were doing, or how to talk to the guests or take orders. Food was very delicious but very expensive and over priced. Tacos are 7$ - 10$... outrageous and not worth the price. They had a 80$ steak sampler platter that was supposed to serve multiple people... it most assuredly could not. The steak sizes were good to share between 2 people, but the sides... if you can even call them that, were unshareable. The side of beans, pico, guac, rice are served in the smallest cup, you couldn't share it. They were single portion servings that could maybe be used on 2 tacos, but certainly not more than that. Super disappointing. The Ribeye Chicharron was flavorful and good, but the guac sucked. Got the taco sampler platter. Best bang for the buck, considering the crazy taco prices for singles. You save like 3$ The Redeye (quesabirria taco) was delicious. Good consume. Ribeye taco was good. Had good smoked wood flavor in the steak. Sonoran taco was nothing special. The al pastor barboncito had really good flavor. They did not have alcohol when they first opened. 2nd visit: There was 45 min b4 closing and they were out of all of the taco meat I wanted. They could have made more, but said the chef didn't want to due to already having shut down the grill. Left without getting anything. 3rd visit: They now have alcohol. Tried 2 drinks, can't remember what they were. Would not get them again. The drinks were pricey and just mid. Not a spot for a good Margaritta. Got tacos, but they were out of half of the tacos I wanted. So it was another disappointing experience. On the positive side, there were no teenagers serving us thankfully! The interior is really nice. Dimly lit, wood stacked up, open kitchen. I would never return to spend money though. Them being consistently out of signature tacos across multiple visits, coupled with the high prices. Simply not worth it.
