My girlfriend and I have stayed here for six years. The complex as a whole is well taken care of, and gated parking was a plus. The inside of the apt is pretty spacious with lots of closet and cabinet space to store. The hardwood floors are nice too. Georgette, the property manager, will go out of her way to help you if any concerns should arise. We have needed minor maintenance work that was always handled quickly and done right. Overall its a quiet place and would reccomend it to anyone looking for a place to live. read more

management does not care about tenants. the only thing this place can do right is charge you more rent for just breathing. nothing is actually fixed in these apartments they just patch things and call it a day. nalee staton is the worst person to speak to. they have mold and yellow walls in the apartments. they charge you for painting even though they use cheap paint that comes off easily. if you really want to feel like no one cares about you then this is the place for you. I highly recommend the street than this place. the other reviews are 100% fake as nalee take a lot of pride on the reviews that are posted and makes fake accounts to boost her stars. 4.5 stars more like 4.5 booty cheeks. read more

Casa de Helix is awesome. My fiance and I lived there for almost five years for a reason! The rent is reasonable for the size of the apartment (the one bedrooms are large!), plenty of cabinet/storage space which is great. The maintenance team is amazing and very quick to fix any problems we ever had right away. The property itself is very well maintained, landscaped beautifully and very quiet. It's smoke free as well which we love. It is also gated so we always felt extremely safe. The manager, Georgette, is great too, very personable, knows everybody's name and always makes sure to say hi and make conversation when you pass by. We only moved because we purchased a condo, otherwise we would have stayed for longer! read more

Starting off positive! Most of the time living at the apartment was pleasant. The neighbors were quite and considerate. The maintenance staff was very friendly. And the grounds were very well taken care of. The apartment itself was in good condition except the appliances were a tad bit outdated but nothing wrong with them they worked just fine. Two things; First off, the water in the complex was shut off quite a bit while me and my roommates were living in the apartment for a year. I don't mind the water being shut off quite honestly but what I do mind is most of the time we got little notice (I'm talking like two hours before hand) the water was to be shut off. They did get better towards the end of our lease, letting us know 24 hours in advance. Maybe someone complained. It was just really inconvenient when the water was shut off so short notice and I needed to get ready for work. Secondly; PARKING. Parking is an absolute nightmare in the neighborhood. There are tones of abandoned cars on the street taking up the few spots that are even available. If you get home from work at 5pm (like most working people do) you're absolutely screwed if you need to park on the street. You have to park far away down a sketchy alley way and walk to the apartment, it's no fun. I realize this is not the fault of the complex. In the complex you get one spot with your unit and an additional spot is $50 a month. The problem is, we had a 3 bedroom unit with 3 roommates. I feel like if you have a 3 bedroom unit you should at least have the option to have a 3rd parking space because like me you probably have two other roommates. Unfortunately, you're only allowed 2 spots max and there's a waiting list. The Parking lot also could be paved it's not in great shape. I'm pretty sure that's how I got nails in my tires as well. I wouldn't mind paying for a 3rd spot, it would have helped us out a lot. The location of the apartment; If I'm being honest the neighborhood is terrible. Many times when I would be walking outside I felt unsafe. There is a lot of crime in the area and we heard sirens constantly. I came home one night and there was 30 cop cars down the road basically lighting up the night sky. Again this is not the complexes fault. They have no control over this, I'm just warning you about the area. If you want a safer neighborhood I would not recommend spring valley. I won't live in that area again. The complex is gated which is really nice and there is security cameras. I never felt unsafe inside the complex. None the less, living there wasn't too bad. Georgette was very responsive whenever we had a question or needed assistance. The texting service she has to alert residents is great especially when she lets us know she won't be in the office. Neighbors were friendly, like I said grounds are beautiful. I never used the pool so I can't speak on that. Laundry room was alright, machines are a little old but they work just fine! I loved that laundry was open 24 hours that helps out so much especially if you're off work late. I went to this property for a tour and it was a breath of fresh air! The customer service was amazing the manager we very friendly and easy going and really made me feel like she wanted me to live there. The property was clean, well kept and I loved the size of the bedrooms. In this day and age customer service is lacking everywhere! DO NOT MOVE HERE! The manager Georgette is horrible. Very rude and disrespectful to the tenants. We had 2 separate theft occurrences! She stated that she does not know how to work the security cameras so we moved as soon as the lease was up. Upon moving out she tried to keep our deposit until I had to nearly take her to court, only then she decided to refund. There were other units that got broken into near ours and the front gate is usually blocked by people that do not have access to drive in, so when you need to come home and open the gate, they drive right in. worst place to live EVER!! the manager Georgetta is nothing but a lying B****. we had nothing but issues since we moved out here from Nebraska. My husband is in the military so we have lived in quite a few different apartments so I am quite familiar on how things "typically" go. In December of 2013 my husband and I took a trip to Nebraska for our wedding ceremony and we ended up buying a puppy. When we came back my husband told one of employees working there that we had gotten another dog when he turned in our rent check and she said ok. That was it. A few months later Georgetta then stated that our dog was too big for our apartment and we needed to get rid of him. I asked her what the weight limit was and she said 25lbs and I told her he is 26 lbs and we can weigh him to prove it (which we did). She then said we needed to pay another pet deposit of $400 and we should have told her. I explained to her that we did tell the short gal working in the office when we paid our rent and she never told us that. The other issue we had with her is in April of 2014. My husband got off work around 5:30 pm april 3rd and went to the office to pay the rent. No one was in the office and it was locked so he put the rent check in the rent box. Georgetta said we needed to pay a $25 late fee because they did not get it until April 4th. I explained to her that it was in the office by april 3rd like it was supposed to be so it was not late. She still charged us the fee. The other issue we had with her was when we were moving out. She said if we cleaned the apartment and she checked it over and it was fine would wouldnt get charged for cleaning. Well i cleaned everything and scrubbed everything. She looked through the apartment and said "you actually did a good job." She signed a paper saying the only thing we were going to get charged for for was painting for $120. When we got the deposit in the mail she took out money for cleaning for the floor and a bunch of other little things adding up to $500. When i called her about the issue she stated that i never came back and cleaned the floor. Which i did and she even looked at it. She said she wasnt going to argue with me and that i was not getting the money back. The other issue we had was when we broke our lease. In January 2014 we wanted to get out of our lease she told us we would have to pay $2000 to not get penalized for it. So we decided to wait. Well after a few other little issues we decided we could not live there anymore. So in May I called her and told her we wanted to brake our lease and pay the $2000. She said that since we lived at our apartments for more than 7 months we only had to pay $1000 now. so in may we had to pay for the month of june and the lease break fee of $1000. When we got the deposit back she had took out $85 saying we had to pay $1085 for breaking the lease not just $1000. If that was the case and amount all along we wouldnt have broke the lease, because we only had until july 31 until our lease was up. So another words she made us pay for another month of rent on our last month so we got screwed out of that rent. read more

I've been here for 4 months and it's the WORST mistake my boyfriend and I have made. The landlord is beyond terrible. When she showed us around she failed to mention the dumpster gets picked up at least 3 times a week!!!!!!! And those lovely dumpsters are right outside our apartment so we get woken up constantly at 6am. Also, the landlord, Georgette, promised us a new fridge before move in....we still don't have a new fridge. The one we've been dealing with is now leaking. When we mentioned it again to her she sent someone to "fix" it and by fix all he did was put a tray underneath to catch the leak. I am tired of this place and my next step is to speak to her main manager. If you're thinking of moving in here, don't. Or if you do you better make sure that your apartment isn't on the dumpster side. read more

Been Living her for 5 months now and I must say aside from the scarce guest parking I have no complaints. The community is safe and quiet. The manager Georgette is very accommodating. There is alot of space in the apartments. I wish the washer and dryer was in the unit but hey I knew that from the beginning. As far as location is concerned there are alot of good restaurants, groceries stores and liqueur stores within walking distance. You do have to travel 10 minutes for target and costco in la mesa. I've been living here about a month now and I really love it. The manager Georgette has been so accommodating to me! When we did the walk through there were a bunch of things that needed to be fixed and they were done the next day. I've had a couple small problems and again fixed within 24 hours! I wanted to use a fridge I already had and I was able to do that, they removed the one that was already in here. The complex is so quiet and everyone is really nice. It's beautiful here too it's like living in a garden! Especially the pool. My only problem is the parking. But there's nothing that can be done about that now and I knew about it before signing. DO NOT MOVE HERE!! If I could give 0 stars I would!! I moved in here August of 2017 and 2 weeks after I moved in the water started getting shut off almost once a week! By the end of October the water had been shut 10 times! When we moved in we were seeing bugs and my roommate and I both have small children and we were all getting bit by these bugs.. We told Georgette and she said she would call someone to come spray... Weeks went by and no one every showed up so we asked her again and she said the guy had just came that week and we missed it because we didn't ask her again for him to come to our apartment!! So we had to wait ANOTHER WHOLE MONTH for the guy to come back to spray our apartment.. On top of that all the tenants that have dogs just let them pee all over the complex and during the summer (in the hear) all you could smell was the nasty dog pee.. Fast forward a year and we did NOT renew our lease... We are in the process of moving out and hearing many different stories between Georgette and Liana... Liana tells me that the apartment will only need a partial paint in one room and that the bubbling of the floor was from the tenants before us (because I knew it wasn't from us) and Georgette tries to blame it on us.. Then Georgette proceeds to tell us that we are going to have to pay more than our deposit (which I have never heard of before) because we are going to have to pay for the floor, which then I told her that Liana told me that it was from the tenants before us which she said "Oh I guess you won't pay for that." Now we are moved out as of the 24th of July and we still have NOT gotten back our remaining security deposit (which she said goes towards the 3 days of rent that we owe for the next month, never heard of that either.) So it is now a month past when we were supposed to get a bill for everything that our deposit went to and when I contact Georgette she gets an attitude.. She said she is waiting for the accountant to tell her how much to charge for painting the apartment when she told us it was going to be a prorated amount... So after she already told us the final price of how much everything was going to cost she is now changing the prices???? That is shady and she hasn't even tried contacting myself or my roommate on any of this! On top of her changing the price she told my roommate that she would send her the paperwork via email to take her name off everything since she wouldn't be here for a month and when we got the deposit check back it would be only in my name which would make it easier to cash.. Then after my roommate waited a week for the paperwork she asked Georgette if she sent it and she said she couldn't send a legal document like that via email... But when we moved in Georgette sent my roommate the lease to sign via email because she was gone for the move-in... Hmmm.... So the lease could be signed via email but not the relinquish of rights??? I am not saying that we were the perfect tenants but all of this crap happening at the end is pretty ridiculous! Georgette is shady... read more

Bitter sweet after 8+ years living at Casa De Helix. Had some great neighbors and made some great friends. My daughter always felt safe. Ofcourse every complex has its pros and cons. No where can be petfect.. I'm not much for complaining unless neccessary. When I did Georgette and staff were on top of it. To u bug complainers, Keep ur house clean! and u won't have a problem outside the usual disturbance that comes with the spray of a joining unit. You dont have to be OCD either to! Lol..I never had a bug problem..My maintenance needs were always taken care of and were timely..Onsite staff is always quick to greet u a goodmorning or afternoon when passing by. Stayed here for about 10 months and sadly had to end my lease early for personal reasons. I found this gem while on deployment and the property manager Georgette was a huge help getting me set up while underway. She was patient and very helpful in answering all my questions. Any complaints I had she was very swift in finding solutions and getting the right help needed. The property itself is beautiful with all the trees, flowers, and fountains within the complex. Neighbors are very nice and keep to themselves (someone is always there with a welcoming hello). When I got locked out my apartment and left my phone inside a neighbor let me use their phone and was near until I received help. Parking within the apartment was great especially being gated. Off street parking however can suck but keep in mind there are neighboring apartment complexes near by who also use the parking off street. To close things up, this is a bittersweet goodbye. Let me start by explaining to you the reason why I got this place. First of all, it is gated and very nicely landscaped and clean. The price could be a little less, but I wouldn't want to live at any other complex around me for it. Our two cars are parked inside the gate which is an extra fee but worth it, hard to find parking at night and weekends..It is very safe at night, has good lighting and cameras throughout the whole complex. One of the best parts is being able to have a good relationship with your landlady. Almost like comparing it to having a good mother-in-law who you don't see all the time but when u do it is good-Georgette she is very kind, caring and greets everyone. As long as u are honest and let her know things in advance- which is understandable-u will have a great relationship. George takes care of all of our needs in a prompt and timely manner. Her maintenance men are on site so it makes it easy and quick next day or even same day fixes. If I ever had to move anywhere else I hope it would be just as good as this place. read more

I've lived here for a few months and I have to say the place is very nice. Lots of trees, bushes and flowers on-site. The motif is New Orleans with wrought iron, fountains and "gas lamp" style park lights. Birds everywhere...doves and humming mostly. The complex is gated so no strangers wandering around. Very quiet. Nice pool. Allows dogs and they're not a nuisance. The rent is decent (and I did a lot of looking around). Most places I looked at were more rent, less pretty. The staff: Georgette, Liana and Adolfo, is excellent. Georgette, the property manager, is very easy to get along with. She shows a genuine interest in that my stay here is pleasant. Liana, assistant manager, is also very nice. The attention to maintenance is outstanding and the grounds are kept very trim and clean. I had a little water leaking from my refrigerator and Adolfo, site maintenance, came over and repaired it no problem. And management follows up with a text message asking if, and ensuring that, my needs have been satisfied. They even sent me a text wishing me a happy birthday! I haven't seen any bugs in the apartment; and I think I've seen only one fly. ONE FLY. The laundry room is open 24hrs and takes a debit card that you can re-load with your bank debit card. No searching for quarters. With the one bedroom, which I rent, the huge bedroom is very nice. 14x12 foot with the 14 foot wall consisting of 3 large mirror closet doors, which make the room appear like a 14x24 foot room when you're in it. I got lost twice. And the closet is 14 feet long so plenty of space to hang clothes with lots of shelves. The kitchen has plenty of storage cabinets/cupboards. The complex allows gas BBQ grills. 94 freeway is right there (but far enough away so you don't hear it) and lots of close shopping. I like this place, comfortable, friendly, visually pleasing, nice quiet neighbors, and a staff you could confuse for the concierge at the Hilton. read more

I would not rent here. They don't want to tell you before hand whether or not you will qualify to rent a unit. They just want the fee money. Charged me the fee for co tenant application even after I told her they had zero credit. And that georgette is pushy woman. Insisted I fill out the app right then (so she could collect the fee I'm sure) then called me twice in the next two hours to get my co tenants app done on line claiming there were others who would get the apt. Funny the apt is still available. Don't rent here. Try next door or down the block where they are honest. read more

This was the first place my wife and I lived after we got married. For the rent, this was the only place with a nice pool. The outside is really well taken care of and it's really pretty with a lot of flowers and plants. The apartment themselves are a little old but they're big. We had a one bedroom on the upstairs. We fit a king size bed with a dresser and a TV stand. The living room was also a good size, but the kitchen was kind of small. There is also a wall A/C unit, its not the best but it's better then nothing. The apartments are gated so you feel safe when parking your car inside. If you have two cars you get one designated area and if you don't rent out another parking space, good luck trying to find parking out in the streets. There are two more apartment complexes on the same street and a school in the front that has designated parking hours so sometimes coming late at night you would have to park really far away. My suggestion is pay for the extra parking it's worth it. Bad things about the apartment was it didn't have a dishwasher and the fridge was a little small, you had a garbage disposal but were told not to use it. The floors were these fake wood planks that would swell if you left water on them for even a minute, so you had to be very careful about spills. We did have bad internet, but once we called someone to come look at it they fixed all the wire to the apartment and we never had an issue since. The Manager Georgette was always very nice and always asked if there where any problems. Also, NO PET RENT for small animals, that was awesome. We only left because we got a bigger dog and wanted to be closer to church. Thank for everything Georgette. read more

Horrible experience... the management is the worst I have ever encountered. They went through four different managers during my extremely short stay... and the last one was SO rude and unhelpful that it would have been better with no manager at all. I was hoping for a pleasant experience on my first stay in California but this complex turned it into a living nightmare. I STRONGLY reccomend anyone who is considering this dump to re-think their decision! They will tell you anything to get your signature to suck every cent out of your pockets. WARNING: This place has rats and management will do nothing about it. My roommates and I complained about rats on multiple occasions and we received no help what so ever. We had to demand for them to come set rat traps. I recently lived there and it was a disgusting mess and was not enjoyable. They ask for a year lease but it was such a horrible experience that I could not stay there any longer than a couple of months. Not only was it a rat infested apartment but they try to rip you for every cent you have. The ad for their apartments said a $550 rent deposit but they will demand more than that. They're not looking to make your living enjoyable, they're looking to take money from you however they can. If something in the apartment was broken, we would mention it to management and if you were lucky they would come fix it weeks later but that was not guaranteed. We had a broken dishwasher and it took them over a month and half to get us a new one. Once we got the new one, it didn't even clean the dishes all the way. The only enjoyable experience I had there was that all they neighbors were very friendly but they most enjoyable part was leaving the apartments. The pictures may look nice but don't let them fool you! The place is tiny and management is absolutely horrible!! I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!! read more
