We were in Milpitas neighborhood and found this highly rated Mexican restaurant. We walked in without reservation on a Friday night and it was busy but not so busy to get a table right away. The paintings and lighting in the restaurant were very warm and welcoming! We ordered drinks and entrees in 5-7 minutes of seating and service was quick. We had chips and salsa served. We were served salad with thousand island dressing which was complimentary with the main entrees. Salad was not very fresh and dressing was very sweet and not tasty. I would skip it. Fajitas were good, my son enjoyed it a lot. It had lots of flavor and would reorder. Chicken Mole was good but the chicken was little chewy Chicken enchilada was my husbands favorite Lastly we had a slice of Tres Leches for the table which kids gobbled but for me it was very sweet and less moist. Overall we had a great evening!!
Had a really great experience at Casa Azteca ! The food was fresh, flavorful, and tasted authentic everything came out hot and well prepared. You can tell they put care into their dishes, and the portions were satisfying too. The service was friendly and attentive without being overwhelming, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, making it a nice spot to sit and enjoy your meal. Whether you're going with family or just stopping by for a casual bite, it's definitely a place I'd recommend. I'll for sure be coming back to try more from the menu.
It's been awhile since our last visit here. It was nice to see the manager, Harry. Our server was Gustavo, who is our favorite. It was nice catching up with both of them. We were served cold water and chips and salsa right away. Gustavo took our order. We ordered their casa special margarita grande. It was huge and perfect for sharing and very tasty. They don't skimp on the alcohol either. I ordered the Chapala combo which is a taco and enchilada plate with beans and rice. I chose beef for the taco and chicken for the enchilada. Both were seasoned very well and were delicious. My husband got the shrimp and chicken fajitas with all the fixings. He loved it. Both our meals came with a side salad. We both chose the pepper corn ranch dressing. Our food came out quickly and ever this was made perfectly. You could hear the fajitas sizzling. The potions of our food were hefty. Service here was awesome as usual. Thank you to Casa Azteca for a great lunch. We look forward to seeing you again soon!!
I am so disgusted. This was always a family favorite. Not anymore! I ordered a side salad, when they brought it out I go to grab my fork to eat and there was a disgusting roach on top of my salad!!!!!! I
casa azteca had great food and good portions. I like that they served a salsa that wasn't spicy. Their drinks are huge portion also. Their service was good and patient with us since we couldn't make up our mind on what we wanted? And the ambience had plenty of seating
Food & Ambiance: we randomly found this place and surprised by interior decoration. It's very homey and also colorful. The food tasted GREAT. We were really full so we planned to bring the loaded fries home but it was so good that we kept reaching for it. The tacos I ordered with steak, shrimp/ fish and chicken, amazing! They have some different types of burritos and the one we got is surprisingly filling and refreshing! Service: all of them are so warm and welcoming. Very helpful whenever we raised our hand for water or boxes. Would definitely want to come again!
OMG amazing!! Came in with a big group of 8 people and our server, Ruth, was a SUPERSTAR She was amazing with handling our big party, and was a total pleasure to be with! Service aside, the food was super yummy. I have chicken enchiladas verde and churros for dessert. Our table also got margarita pitchers, and the reviews were RIGHT. The best ever, the tequila they use is really good quality. Overall such a fun night with my group, 10/10 would do it again!
As a long time patron of Casa Azteca, we had to go and celebrate their 45 Year Anniversary. The restaurant was full and decorated festively. The staff greeted us warmly with big smiles and sat us right away. The special 1980 menu had awesome prices, which we took advantage of. The one of the owners, Hari, stopped by our table and thanked us for our support of the restaurant. We appreciate feeling like family in this family-owned restaurant. Wishing them many more years of good food and service.
Thanks to our friends, we visited this amazing restaurant. My son was amazed with the name and kept thinking about the colonial era. He enjoyed the wall paintings. I would say, we all did as well. Beautiful!!!! Let's get to food. I ordered shrimp fajitas which was delicious and generous portion. The refried beans and tortillas were okay. For the first time, my daughter ordered Mexican pizza. Not sure, if she'll ever order again. And to my surprise they had chicken wings on the menu. It's a Mexican restaurant. My son ended up getting chicken wings but it had no Mexican flavors. My husband ordered pork fajitas however he found it dry. Customer service was great. Yesterday was National Margarita Day. We did celebrate by ordering house Margarita's which delicious. Totally recommending the margarita. And try the guacamole dip. You will love the crunchy chips. Overall, awesome experience.
My boyfriend took me here for dinner on a Friday night. It was my first time here but he's familiar with it. I guess this place has been around for a long time because he used to frequent it in high school. When we walked in, it was crowded at all. We were greeted and sat right away. He said, just watch this place is going to get packed. By the time we got our food, it did just that. Service was great! Food was great! Ambiance was great! I wasn't in the mood for a cocktail but I saw a few being delivered to tables that looks delicious. Warning, the salsa is spicy! Now I love me some spice but I wasn't expecting it to hit like that. The flavor was amazing though so I couldn't stop dipping. Some days I can handled more spice than others...this must have been one of those other days. We ordered artichoke dip for an appetizer, modelo for the boyfriend, chile verde, and combo plate of one cheese enchilada and one chili relleno. All the food had great flavor!
Casa Azteca was a great experience! We came for dinner on a weeknight and were seated right away. Staff were really friendly and patient with us! I got the enchilada verde and my friend got enchilada a la carte. They were so yummy and had such good flavors, and I also had leftovers for the next day! Ambiance is nice both inside and outside, we sat outside since it was a nice summer evening. Recommend for dinner in Milpitas!!
The service here is good and the workers are friendly. They would always check in on us. There are plenty of seats here but the parking is lot is kind of small. This place has a classic aesthetic to it. I loved how the chips were hot and fresh. They were pretty addicting with the salsa. The tortilla soup was tasty and hot. The Rancheras Enchilada was delicious and flavorful. Definitely would come back here again.

I can't believe this is the first time coming here. This local gem was so good and the food was delicious! The chili Colorado will not disappoint. My son inhaled the street tacos. The chicken Mole was so yummy! We will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu! I love the service here. Is this family owned? FWIW, they made us feel at home. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this spot! I chose it for a reunion because it was one of the nicer spots in the area with food I wanted to eat. The chips and salsa they serve are great. I got the shrimp enchiladas and I was shocked at how much shrimp was in there. Every bite was just spilling with shrimp. The chicken one was stuffed with meat too. Flavor was pretty good. Creamy, cheesy, couldn't quite pinpoint it. I could see myself coming back, still on the search for the best Mexican food up here that matches socal though read more

We live in Oakland. We were in Milpitas for some work and stopped at this place for a late lunch. Gosh such a delightful find and we were pleasantly surprised by our dinning experience. Everything was beyond our expectations. Service was excellent. Ruth, our server, was a gem. She was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Knew the menu really well and recommended great vegetarian dishes. Food was delicious and flavorful. The portions were more than generous. We are vegetarians, so we got everything without meat and absolute loved them! Loaded fries- crispy with loads of cheese and bursts of flavorful toppings. 5 Stars! Cheese enchiladas- mouthwatering flavors. It came with rice and beans sides. 5 stars Vegetable wet burrito with half red and half green sauce. Yummy, but we enjoyed the other "cheesy" dishes more. So, 4.5 stars. Cheese cake for dessert. 4 stars Margarita was strong and delicious 5 stars!! Ambience is super cute and gives you an experience of a traditional Mexican cuisine! We loved everything. Went to Casa Azteca for a nice girls night and so glad I did! This is a super cute Mexican restaurant with loads of food and yummy cocktails. Awesome spot to bring your family or friends - I ended up here on a girls night and so glad I did! Once we were seated we ended up ordering: * mango margarita - huge and yummy, I also found this drink very refreshing * Suiza enchiladas with Al pastor and chicken. This was yummy and flavorful, the meats were also plentiful. The plate came with rice and beans which was nice also Overall food was yummy and ambience was nice. Service was also sweet and helpful. Definitely will take you by surprise when you arrive. The outside is your regular run of the mill patio so we were a bit surprised when it was a full scale restaurant inside (2 sides of seating and a full walk up bar). The menu is pretty standard: enchiladas, burritos, a la carte plates etc etc. my food was served hot but the dish itself wasn't spicy (Which is a bummer bc I ordered the camarones a la diabla). We were a rather large party however that did not equate to the rude service that was provided. The server basically yelled at my seat partner multiple times for various reasons (no alcohol was consumed at this establishment btw so everyone was in good behavior), we had to ask for cutlery and napkins enough to just go grab them from other tables & ultimately I was disappointed by the unprofessional manners. Giving it 1 star because there's parking and the salsa was good. FYI, gratuity is included. read more

A cool find with a decent happy hour 3-6p M-F. They have both food and appetizers on happy hour. They provide free chips and salsa. We had ordered chicken nachos and there were barely and chicken in it almost that it seemed there was no chicken. We asked them about it and they never got back to us. Ambiance is casual with plenty of parking and seating area. Service is decent. read more
My friend and I walked in here on a Sunday evening and was seated shortly afterward. This restaurant is huge with plenty of seats so it's great if you have a large party. There is a parking lot available but the spaces are a little tight. The service was a little slow at the time we went but we didn't mind since the staff who helped us were very friendly and nice. I ordered the michelada, which I highly recommend! It had the right ratio of lime juice, saltiness, flavor, and beer. I ordered the tacos, which I thought were decent. My (adult) friend who eats less than me ordered of the kids menu, which was a nice option to have. I'm usually really picky about my micheladas, so I would definitely come back here for it when I'm too lazy to make it at home. read more

Food value 4/5 Food 5/5 I was OK with the chips salsa definitely help. I ordered the three tacos as a side, please flower tacos and they're green sauce is not too spicy. To the mass, that is probably not spicy at all. The texture of the class was a little bit stringing, but the flavor is great . Fish tacos are also great flavors on the saltier side. The El Pastor was by far the best. There are no complaints with that one at all. Flan was burnt and bitter this time unfortunately. 2/5 read more

First of all, there has been a change in ownership since the last time I visited in 2015. The entrance patio reminded me of a schoolyard park that could use some improvement. While the design and artwork are beautiful, the culture and flavors of the food do not match the atmosphere. The waitstaff was courteous, but when I walked in, I noticed that the majority of the patrons were blue-eyed, blonde-haired individuals. I'm not sure if Rachael Ray was the chef, but the food was disappointing. It lacked the authentic Mexican flavors that you would expect from your grandmother's kitchen. The chili rellenos tasted more like curry, and the rice had an odd balsamic and curry flavor. The fajitas were overcooked, with burnt vegetables and tough steak. Ultimately, I couldn't eat my meal and chose not to take my leftovers home. read more

Food is always so fulfilling here. Feels like we can't breathe every time we leave cuz we're so full! Probably because we start off w/ a pitcher of margaritas and a few bowls of chips. My go to is chicken Suisa enchiladas and chicken tortilla soup. The staff is always super friendly and such a traditional family atmosphere. We keep coming back for more! read more
Our last visit was more than a year ago. I was disappointed by not being able to find the pork chops. Nevertheless, this restaurant deserves another look. So the common street tacos and Carnitas Plate were ordered. They were pretty decent after all. We were particularly impressed by the services. Not only we had a designated waiter to take our orders, but also other waiters constantly hopping in to ask about the food taste. The salsa was too spicy for me. The waitress immediately brought out a mild one. It indicated the staffs were well trained (not sure if the ownership of the restaurant has changed). While we were enjoying our dishes, the wonderful smell of the Fajitas permeating the dining area. That's the familiar mouth watering aroma of a nicely prepared Fajitas. Came here for a brunch with friends and the food and drinks were great especially for the portions and price. The parking lot isn't the biggest but we had no problem finding parking on a Sunday. There is plenty of space inside and several benches outside. We sat outside and they had some music playing so it was a chill spot for brunch. Service was great. The waiters came by several times to check on us which was nice. I enjoyed my enchiladas and the banana bread pudding was decent. read more

Solid place for delicious food! I've been coming here for ages and they never fail to disappoint. Everything on the menu is fire ! My go to is the camarones al mojo de ajo, the shrimps are always so juicy and tasty, or the shredded beef chimichanga, and always with a bowl of their chicken tortilla soup. I love their recipes and ingredients, everything tastes fresh. I'm also picky when it comes to rice, and their's tastes homemade like the way abuelita makes it. Love the staff here , they are the best! The service at Casa Azteca is top tier. It's a nice place to hang out and enjoy dinner with their comfy seating. I don't like to eat in cramped spaces, and I appreciate how spacious it is inside. It's definitely one of my favorite places! read more

This is a lovely restaurant with a small bar area, both indoor and outdoor seating, and colorful Aztec paintings lining the dining room walls. We got the Casa Special Margarita and Strawberry Margarita, which was on the sweeter side and strong enough in alcohol content (even though I got it on the rocks, it was kinda thick with fruit chunks). For food, we ordered the Moles and Fajitas dishes. The salads that came with it were fresh and delicious. Both dishes were pretty filling, nicely plated with good-sized portions, but nothing that really stood out about the taste worth mentioning. The steak and shrimp that came with the fajitas had good seasoning and flavor, everything else was pretty average, overall satisfying though. The service was wonderful. There was no wait to be seated on a Thursday evening, and the waitstaff was attentive and friendly throughout our entire visit. Parking was easy in the shared lot outside. Please get that Margarita pitcher! - Classic, Strawberry, Melon, Mango - they have multiple options to choose from! Totally worth the price. And their serving glasses are colorful and so pretty. Loved it. Food wise I had mixed reactions. Guacamole in a basket was damn good but chicken wings were fried and kind of bleh. Jalapeño poppers were good but the fish tacos could have been better. Great service. Cute restaurant but parking is a mess with a small parking complex. read more

We didn't plan on stopping here, but did die to the place we were intending to visit being closed. We decided to sit at the bar since we thought we only wanted a drink and an appetizer. We ordered a couple of old fashioneds and we were very impressed with the clear ice cube and how well balanced it was. As for food, we ordered the chicken wings. they were delicious. We came here for dinner last weekend and had a great time. The parking lot is very small and we got there early so parking wasn't a problem for us, but I can see this being an issue later in the evening. We were greeted and seated as soon as we entered the restaurant. The restaurant is comfortable and pleasant enough to look at. Our waiter was Gustavo who is very friendly and very helpful. The food itself was pretty average, good but not great. I had to eat my taco with a fork and knife. The back side of the taco was soggy, and when I tried to pick it up it completely fell apart. I visit this place for the first time and I am very impressed with how nice it looks with the decorations, is clean and workers are kind. The place looks elegant and I was comfortable just seating in there before and after my dinner. I took my mother to eat and Chad. We both had a good time. I recommend this place to everyone that likes light Mexican food and more. I only wish that they can make a special super spicy salsa. I try some tortilla soup and it was delicious. Growing up in Milpitas, Casa Azteca was one of the go-to local restaurants for Mexican food for my parents and me. Decades after moving out of Milpitas, I visited them again in 2010 for lunch with some coworkers and was pleasantly surprised that the dining room appeared exactly as I remembered it to be when I was a little girl. I visited again with Dad, his wife, and my Aunt Loida for dinner on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Seriously, I felt like we were stepping back in time because upon arrival, I felt like I was ten-years-old again, going to our regular spot for Mexican fare. Venue: Dad thinks that they moved to a different unit from their original location in the Milpitas Commercial Center, but the setting looks pretty identical to me. Nevertheless, the locale conveniently has a parking lot for patrons and the eatery looks unchanged with the yellow and brown hued walls and carved seats accompanying the brown tables. The place is clean with a comfortably casual atmosphere. Food: Casa Azteca has successfully been consistent in serving up comida rica since the 1980's. You can definitely count on being served food that will make your tummy happy. Start off with their Chicken Tortilla Soup which is guaranteed to warm you and satisfy your palate. If their Lentil Soup hits the Soup of the Day when you visit, go for it - es muy delicioso! Main dishes-wise, I always stick to the Flautas from the PLATILLOS ESPECIALES. This favourite dish of mine is a perfect example that Casa Azteca is a true blue Ma & Pa establishment who doesn't serve up manufactured premade items - it's very evident that they roll their own flautas that fry to perfect crisps. Prices are reasonable, too. Service: On November 7, 2021, we initially had plans to dine at the Whole Enchilada in Moss Landing, on our way home from Salinas. Due to the horrible service that we immediately dealt with at seating, we left without ordering anything and went straight to Casa Azteca. Upon arrival, we were received with a warm welcome and definitely felt the friendly appreciation for our patronage. In fact, Dad told them about our experience at the Whole Enchilada and commended Casa Azteca's staff for the high quality in their service. If I still lived in Milpitas, I would again be a regular of Casa Azteca. You betcha that they are a top dining destination whenever I am in town! read more
