Zahir's Famous Prime Rib (12oz, cooked medium)
    Ms G.

My boyfriend and I have been here twice together and I myself have been here about 5 times with my family. All experiences were fantastic! What we liked: 1. Food (try the famous prime rib, you won't regret it) We ordered the prime rib 12oz, cooked medium. Came out within about 15 min or more. Cooked evenly and very satisfying. The prime rib was so good my boyfriend insisted on ordering another one Togo! I usually get Cioppino, unfortunately at this time during COVID restrictions they said they were not able to get the ingredients needed for this lovely meal, but I highly recommend it once they do start serving this again. 10/10 the best Cioppino I ever had. The pasta nicely complements the sauce. The sauce is so flavorful, I usually squeeze lemons on everything I eat just to give it a little more flavor, but I don't need to add anything extra on this. 2. Drinks (they do not hold back on alcohol) I ordered an AMF and not only was it good, but it definitely did the job! Most restaurants I've been to hold back on their alcohol. Maybe because I'm small? Lol. Well there's no holding back over here. You get your money's worth for sure. 3. Service (they don't forget about you) Every time I've been here service has been nothing but welcoming. Good timing and they will get you what you need when you need it. BONUS: Good company (Zahir, himself) The owner, Zahir, has been one of THE nicest restaurant owners I ever met. He'll talk to you every now and then to make sure you've enjoyed your meal and to see how you're doing. I believe that he genuinely cares about the people and his restaurant is a reflection of that. We'll most definitely come here again, and make this place a part of our regular restaurant rotation :)

Dont bother to try , nothing was good . Appetizers, Steak, Pasta ... all were unsatisfied, spolied our holiday party 's mood.

I'm enjoying their happy hour 5:30-7:30. Good line up for apps and drinks. Somehow it's $$$ on yelp but Ya more likely $$ unless you order bottle of wine. Highly recommend it for the romantic dinner, casual date, and group hang out.

Steak Zahir as it comes. Flour in the sauce. I had to return this beauty!

I believe this is one of the most flavourful steaks I've had in some time. If you follow my posts at all, you know I can eat some steaks! I'm also grain and gluten free so it's sometimes a challenge to find good food that fits my desires. Zahir's service was great, food was awesome and presentation was top notch! Nageena waited on me, along with other coworkers. The teamwork among the staff is amazing. No one was put out when they stopped at my table to make sure I had. Everything. I. Wanted. Excellent service, excellent food, very fairly priced! I'll be back! .

Came by for dinner the other night. Made a same day reservation with Zahir and he was very courteous over the phone. Upon arrival, his restaurant was both relatively basic and modern. Started off with the complimentary bread and it was okay. ...not too hard and not too soft. Moved on to the appetizer sampler and it was good. The stuffed mushrooms were okay and the Cajun prawns were of decent size. The calamari was pretty fresh and wasn't overly fried. At $21, it was on the pricier side. Moved on to the pear salad and the greens were very fresh. According to the menu, they were organic too at $6! Our main course was the 12 oz prime rib which was excellent. The flavoring on the crust was excellent and the meat came out medium rare. The meat quality was top notch and very smooth. The $26 dish also came with fresh asparagus and mashed potatoes. The biggest disappointment of the evening were the desserts. Both the tiramisu and chocolate mousse at $8 each were both store bought and very mediocre, especially at this type of establishment. ...if only the desserts were homemade, this place can earn my 5 stars! :D Service was very courteous and thorough by Leah and Zahir. ...what's all the noise with his old location and being evicted after being behind by $20k?!?

Prime rib was ok but the star of this plate for me was the mashed taters!

Zahir's is a restaurant on Main St that I've driven past countless times and never paid much attention to on my way to the mall. However that all changed on Saturday night at 8PM when I searched 'steak'. This place is a diamond in the rough! Fresh, warm bread & butter to start. The menu has a great selection of steak, chicken, and pasta dishes. The staff was very attentive and the service was top notch. Prices are kind of steep for Milpitas but the portions are very generous! My medium rare prime rib was slightly tough for my taste but everything else was amazing. I wouldn't object to coming back anytime soon for a special occasion.

    Cheers to 50 years

Thanks again, Zahir, Evelyn and your staff for making our celebration a success. Your attentiveness, friendliness and attention to detailed was impeccable. Everyone raved about the food, so thank you for that. We will certainly recommend Zahir for the next event!

They do have vegetarian options. But there is not much of a selection, I think there are 2 pasta dishes that are vegetarian and a couple salad choices.

Where can I go that is suit and tie required?

Nice Casual or above is fine, I think

    Is the meat halal?

It started with the barbacoa chilaquiles. When I saw that that the chilaquiles in the menu had habaneros on it, I knew I had found my place. I often cook at home with ghost and scorpion peppers, which are not traditionally found in restaurants, but they've done some pretty amazing improvisation when I've asked to make it work. One time, I recall getting the chilaquiles and asking for extra habaneros and asking if their chef had a secret hot sauce that was stronger than "white people spicy." Miriam brought me a little ramekin of a pepper sauce puree that the chef prepared - and it was EPIC. I don't ask for that every time, but you know whoever was on the line took the request seriously and actually had some fun making my mouth burn. I can't tell you how appreciative I am of their willingness to "play" in the kitchen. Today, I went for breakfast and ordered the Carne En Su Jugo for my first time. Not just here - first time ever eating it anywhere. I had totally forgotten to ask them to make it spicy! I asked Miriam if there was anything they could do to spice it up. She assured me they could. Then I received it. And I tasted it. And it was cathartic. The chefs prepared a PERFECTLY spicy stew, and I downed that whole thing in 7 minutes. It was delicious, put some sweat on my brow, and left me feeling more than satisfied with my meal. I love this place! Miriam is always great every time I've been there. I will continue supporting this business as long as they keep doing business. Please give my compliments to the chefs again. Their creativity keeps me coming back for spicy treats!

However, for $200+ per person, I was disappointed in the food, seating and limited types of acrobatics in the show. The dinner seating was very very cramped, not how it looked to me on the seating chart. (The general admission seating with no dinner looked more comfortable!) I could barely get into my chair between the two people next to me. The chairs were tall hardwood barstools with no back, which were very uncomfortable. The beef and polenta dinner tasted like dog food out of a can! I could not eat it, although some people did. The dessert was served in a stale ice cream cone. Only water was included with the expensive meal; drinks were extra and expensive. The circus consisted mostly of Ariel acrobatics, risqué costumes, some nudity, and a little bit of dramatic story telling in between. As I said, the band was excellent, although the vocals could have been more prominent in the sound mix. Sorry, I really wanted to support this kind of live theater and they did make a good effort, but it was too expensive and it just fell short.

My second visit was for Hocus Pocus, and it didn't live up to the first. The drinks tasted watered down, the food was mediocre, and the dessert was completely flavorless. My third experience was supposed to be The Nightmare Before Christmas, but it was canceled and I was given a code for a future film. I used that code for Beauty and the Beast and was so excited--only to receive another cancellation email. Since this was the second movie that got canceled, I didn't feel comfortable taking yet another code, so I requested a refund instead. It's now been over two months, and I still haven't received it. Don't get me wrong--as a Disney lover, I think this concept is such a fun idea. But it feels like it may have run its course. For the price, I expected a lot more consistency in both quality and communication. Ironically, my best experience was Ratatouille, but I had to go to LA to see it because it wasn't offered in my area at that time. However, like others have said, I bought my ticket for a viewing in Feb, it was cancelled last minute and rescheduled to May. May comes and they cancelled last minute again. It's really frustrating that if you have known issues within the company, be more transparent and upfront about it earlier. The only thing they're offering is a refund, not even a coupon for later, which goes to show they're probably not doing another showing. So if you're in the Bay, I'd suggest not purchasing until they sort out their internal issues.

Flavors of each dish blended really well together. With that said, there were some parts of the meal that I found to be a little lackluster. The desserts for example. The first dessert had frost bitten and hard ice cream, and the second dessert was certainly sweet. I also thought the first tomato course was a little odd. The crust the tomato was served on tasted pre-made, and nothing super special overall. And when the experience is as expensive as it is, I would have liked to see a little more attention to detail all the way through. But again, the scallop and both steak dishes were very delicious, with tender cuts and flavorful purées. It was super cool to learn about the artists and experience such a fun and inactive art experience. The story line was interesting, and the meal was very well paced. Servers were amazing, and overall we did enjoy ourselves. The three starts is really me nit-picking, mainly due to the expectation of the outmost food experience in addition to the video experience. I would definitely recommend this as a fun family experience, just be cautious that it is expensive and isn't necessarily Michelin Star quality execution on every dish.

No complaints on the venue itself but there are some ushers with the rudest attitude in such a bad way. I have a hallway that is strictly music themed memorabilia and some of the best pieces are the set lists that I've collected over the decades. I frame and treasure them as memories that got me through good and bad times. Music is and always has been a huge part of my life. The other night, we were at a show and I went to get a set list for my collection. There was nobody around and the people working on stage were clearing the set as fast as possible as they only had a few minutes to clear the stage and set up for the next band. An usher, I think her name was Karen asked me if I took the set list. I said yes and she took it from me and PUT IT BACK ON THE STAGE!!! I think I'm still a bit shocked because it was so unnecessary. She told me, no,I can't have it..... I have to ask for it! At this point, I'm beginning to feel like Pavlov's dog, I turned around and faced the stage. I had to interrupt the guys trying to clear the stage and said (in my best Dicken's Tiny Tim voice, "please sir, may I have that piece of paper?". Ummm.... What the hell? She was smirking like she did such an amazing job with teaching me a lesson! I've been to other shows where people are begging for set lists. This was not the case. If there were other people before me, I'd make sure they got it over me! She also told me numerous times not to touch the stage. I did have to lean my upper torso in a few times maybe 20 degrees (again only my upper torso!) to interrupt the guys swapping the stage. I did not intentionally try to touch it, please take a look at the CCTV cameras. I am too old to be submissive to someone with a twisted issue with power control. I know I shouldn't have let this bother me but I slept on it and I just think it was so unnecessary. It was humiliating but I was given three set lists that night that I will add to my beloved collection. I complied with everything asked of me, I was not touching the stage on purpose and that was clear as day. She is unfit to interact with your guests. She was treating me in such a condescending manner which was bizarre and can ruin the experience of patrons to come! A big shout out to your security upon entering, your merch and bar staff. Unfortunately( it just takes one person to change your overall experience. She may think she did anything wrong but it's not a good experience moving forward. Also, please let people have a set list if they want it! It may just be a piece of paper to one, but a an amazing memory to another. Best
