Stumbled upon this hotel bar since it was close to a complex with many food options, which is where we ate for dinner. Seems like a good sports bar as there are many seats and tables as well as several big screens with games playing on them. The drink was a little strong in my opinion but very pretty! The cheesecake was good I guess but it had no crust and I like crust but good. I got the calamari. That taste pretty good but it was warm more on the cold side. Surprisingly good food here. Come to this hotel often for conferences but never tried their restaurant until this weekend. Kind of pricey compared to options around the area but very convenient if staying here. Burger was cooked exceptionally well and fries were freshly cooked and crunchy. The perfect hotel restaurant! Whiles it's not a large space, though it can be when needed, it's very well set up with a bar area, some high top tables and a decent amount of low/regular tables as well. Not only is the food great, but the service is always with a smile. The lady that's here in the morning is always welcoming and very attentive. I'm very glad that I get to enjoy this hotel on a regular basis for work, so far, majority of the time I have chosen Sevens over the places nearby not only for the convenience but the service and taste as well. I'll definitely be doing quite a bit of dining here in the future. read more

Really random friend gathering during Niners game. Was initially pretty meh about locale. Food was surprisingly tasty- Cuban sandwiches, quesadilla, truffle fries, Korean wings less greasy than your average sports bar. Mac n cheese just ok. We ordered to share the Steak & Stout Sliders with melted Gouda, stout braised onions and a side of house pub chips, along with the chicken wings, and nachos that had a poke, avocado topping, and sliced peppers. The dishes that we ordered were ok, the flavors just didn't come through for me. My friend had the Quinoa and baby green salad-feta cheese, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, and lemon citronette dressing, she devoured it so it must have been good! I was traveling in the SF area, and stayed a night at the CROWN PLAZA SAN JOSE-SILICON VALLEY. I noticed the SEVENS BAR & GRILL located on the ground floor while I was waiting for the check-in arrangements to be completed. This review is solely on the bar. I haven't tried their food menu. I checked with the bartenders on duty and found out that the kitchen is open until 11pm, whereas the bar is open until midnight for that evening. After a long day on the road, you bet that I head straight for the bar after I checked-in, took a shower, and had a fresh change of clothes. The bar is mostly occupied by travelers staying for the evening. While some did some friendly chit-chat, I enjoyed my time at the bar watching the NBA playoffs while sipping on my drink prepared by Tammy. Really sweet of her to mix me something that's perfect for the evening. Nothing too light, nothing too strong. Drink was just perfect for my taste buds. It's awesome that they let me take my drinks back up to my room when closing hour is near too. read more

Not what I have experienced on previous visits. I was waited on promptly. The food came out in fair time. Ordered a burger, well done, with a salad. Salad was good. Burger came out pink ... and had a funny taste IMO. I was hungry .. hadn't eaten all day. I tried to make it work ... but after a few bites had to send it back. I asked to have a different item because the burger had literally left a bad taste in my mouth. The staff came back and told me I would have to pay for two meals or get another burger. No apology? Wow! So I said "ok" just bring another burger. I have rarely returned food and am pretty easy to please - so when I send food back ... it's unusual. The second burger was well done, but only slightly better ... I couldn't force myself to finish it. Looks like they're serving up frozen patties with A LOT of seasonings? Not fresh. We looked around to see what else is out there that is walking distance. We didn't expect to go to Crowne Plaza Hotel to get something to eat! So glad we did! We received not only a friendly and a speedy service, the food we ordered were not too bad! A couple of highlight dishes that I ate: - Cajun Pasta was really good. If you like something creamy, this did not disappoint. - Ahi Tuna Tacos (I think that was it was called) was pretty good too! It came in 3, but I could probably eat 2 more servings of those. Came here with some friends after work for happy hour and dinner, the restaurant was busier than expected. We got seated quickly, and since this is our first time here, so we lookup Yelp to see what some of the people's choice are. Server does seem busy but noticed us when we are ready to order. All our item came pretty fast. Only complaint is the mac & cheese is a little bit blend, but everything else was great. Yuck. I had a tomato soup and a cobb salad. Okay so we're in a hotel so we know we need to send 1.5x for food, but it at least could be good. From $15 glasses of mediocre wine to overpriced cocktails, this was not good. I don;t mind shoving a $18 Cobb Salad on my expense account, but at least make it filling. This had no bacon, very little dried out chicken and the service was not good. Unless you are staying here with no car, just keep rolling. read more

Not a great night at the Sevens Bar & Grill. Came here to meet a friend, the location is good in the ground floor of the Crowne Plaza. It took around 10-15 minute intervals to get the attention of the waitress at any point. Usually this also involved waving her down (she came over 2x in the 1 hr of happy hour we had left). The happy hour menu is decent we had the calamari which was pretty good and the tacos were mediocre. Later on we were joined by 1 more who ordered a Cuban sandwich. The Cuban sandwich took 35 minutes to come to the table. Then after getting the bill there were two errors, we were charged for two beers we didn't drink and the beers did not come up at the right pricing. Now in their defense it was extremely busy due to the NBA finals but still inexcusable. Only bright side is the 15% food check in discount but needless to say I won't be back. read more

Came here after work with a few coworkers to celebrate quarter end. They ran out of half the items we wanted to order and charged us 21% auto-gratuity tip...TWENTY-ONE PERCENT!?...employees were dressed sharply but the service was non-existent. It got to a point where I had to grab plates and silverware from other tables and hand them out to my coworkers. Thankfully I had one year of serving experience during college and was able to analyze the situation, step in, and save the day. My friend and I enjoyed this place mostly because it was in our hotel and they did make a pretty good gin martini. As for food we tried.... Thai tacos (3 stars, they were lacking seasoning) Kobe burger (4 stars, it has fois gras on it!) I couldn't give full stars because they have on the online menu where you can order shrimp for an additional charge with the Mac N Cheese as I did when I first had it. Then I ordered it again and when I went to pick it up the guy who I assume is the manager told me the girl who took my order made a mistake and should have allowed you to order that because it's not on the menu. I pulled it up on the scanned menu and showed him it was an option and he still said no and he also said no to ordering all flats on chicken wings for whatever reason; I didn't understand. But otherwise Raenah has been all of our fave! I would still say if you stay at the hotel it's worth eating the food whoever the chef is makes good eats! read more

The waitress got our drinks fast and said that they had none of my grandpas beer left (which was fine) but then later in the night at the next table a gentleman that came in after us received one. Then the food had zero salt or favor. I got the salmon. The calamari was delicious so that was a star. I may have gave them three stars if after they cleared our plate and we declined a dessert menu would have gave us our check right away. We sat for 20 minutes clear of all plates just waiting in an empty restaurant. But it was a nice looking and clean place so another star. The problem with a restaurant inside of a hotel is that they feel they can upcharge for mediocre food and drinks. There was hardly anyone in here but everything felt a little too slow for such an "upscale" place. A waitress took our drink orders and let us know it would be 30 minutes before any signature drinks would be ready. But somehow she knew how to make a Moscow Mule? Or so we thought. It was straight up ginger beer - for $15. It wasn't until the bartender came back from her break that we got asked if we wanted water. Let's talk food. Do not get the Gnocchi. My friend had to ask for a refund. It was a terrible combination of ingredients. I got the western burger (bbq sauce on the side) which was actually ok. The meat was high quality but lacked flavor. No one else commented on their food which lead me to believe it wasn't that great. They did give us a refund for the terrible food. No redo on the terrible drink though. Our bill for 4 people was almost $200 and we were left unsatisfied and feeling robbed. Only gave the 2 stars because of the food refund and the nice bartender. read more
