Casa Azteca is a great place for lunch or dinner. The waiters and waitresses are accommodating and friendly. My usual is "La Fiesta" which includes 1 Tamal, 1 Taco, and 1 Enchilada. They offer different meats for the Taco and Enchilada; from Shredded beef, shredded pork, shredded chicken or ground beef. I personally like the taco with ground beef and enchilada with shredded chicken. The beef and pork is great too but i feel they can be sort of dry compared to the chicken. HOWEVER their complimentary salsa and chips comes with great salsa that goes really goes well to balance out the beef/pork. Either way, I always love getting more salsa because they heat up their chips, and pairs so well with salsa. Anyway the Fiesta comes with Spanish Rice, Refried Beans and a soup or salad as well. Their Chicken Tortilla Soup is my favorite. They give you limes, avocados and sour cream to mix into the soup and it tastes AMAZZZINGGG. Its got pieces of chips, corn, black beans and shredded... im gonna say beef? Super delish! The Taco is great too, its on this double crunchy taco shell that I think they make in house. Its not like those corn taco bell shells, but like a flour fried tortilla shell. WIth the ground beef, its a GREAT taco. Loaded Carne Asada Fries are really tasty as well. I notice that most of the items that utilize their tomatoes are usually delicious (hence all that salsa talk above). I will be back! read more

My group got the steak and shrimp fajitas and one portion can easily be shared between two people! The fajitas came out steaming hot! The steak and shrimp were so tender while the bell peppers and onions were sweet and savory. I love that it comes with your choice of corn or flour tortillas and a side of soup or salad. I opted for the chicken tortilla soup and it was also great! The complimentary chips and salsa were very good too, the salsa was on the spicy side which I liked! Overall very good portions, delicious food, friendly service, and nice vibes! Delicioso! I'll be sure to return for more fajitas! AMEX accepted! read more

I am traveling for business and try new places every time I come to town. When I tell you this place is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. You need to go. They were really busy when I got there and service took a little while but it's understandable because, hello, they are slammed. Be patient. :) It was cute and the bar was recently remodel. The portions are huge and you can tell they serve homemade food. It is absolutely one of the best Hispanic restaurants I have ever been to. They serve complimentary water, chips, and salsa. The salsa was a little spicy in my opinion but I can't handle spice. If you can handle spice, you will love it. The guacamole is homemade and served in a tortilla bowl. The tortilla soup is so delicious and they give you lime, sour cream, and avocado on the side to add it to your soup if you'd like. Can do without: $15.99 price for two taco combo, are you serious? On the lunch menu for takeout? $15.99 for huevos rancheros? Wow that's a fat margin. I haven't been here for a while. But the food is really good here. We ordered chicken enchilada. Everyone loved their food and finished the whole plate. Lets put it this way, the food not only tasted good but also digest so well that it makes you wanna keep eating it. I think its because they use high quality products to make their food. Our server was super professional. Older gentleman who really helped me choose the right food. Water was getting refilled on its own without us having to hunt for it to be refilled. Their chips and salsa was so good. Chips were crunchy and warm. Not oily either. They kept refilling the chips too. The restaurant temperature is nice and warm during cold day. It felt so nice and cozy. Very clean area. One major thing i always look out for is how clean a restaurants bathroom is. Because they say if the bathroom if filthy, that means the kitchen is filthy. Had the pleasure of working with Prabin in setting up a 27-person luncheon. Prabin was prompt with responses via email and made things very easy. Our menu was personalized to read 'Merry Xmas' with our company name and they offered so many options (6-7 combos), with salad, beans, rice and a non-alcoholic beverages on the side; dessert was paid for separately. The food was good and portions large. The service was beyond superb. Oswaldo was our server and even with a larger group, he was fast and attentive. This restaurant has a side room if you prefer to be away from the dining area. It allows for closer interaction with your party. There was another group there at the same time we were, in the same room but on the other end. It was never too loud. I think this room can have up to 50-60 but it's an elongated room, so you're looking at a LONG TABLE and not rounds. Parking can be challenging but there's a retail center next door that you park at as well. We will definitely be back for another event one of these days. Thanks Prabin and Oswaldo. read more

I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could! Hubby and I have been STRUGGLING to find a great Mexican restaurant lately. The best Mexican food I get is from my mother-in-laws, but since we don't live near each other, we have been trying to find our fix elsewhere. I'm so glad we discovered this place. The customer service was excellent, the food was exquisite and we enjoyed our overall experience there very well! The chicken tortilla soup and pork chimichanga were the stand-out dishes that we ordered. My god, the soup was so flavorful and the pork in the chimichanga was so tender. This place is great! Very spacious dining areas and the staff is really sweet. My husband and I went to eat here with our friends and we both have kids so things were a little hectic, but the staff was super accommodating and quick. They seated us on a big table so we could stretch out and let the kids play a little bit. It was great! The food was also really good and the portions were pretty big too! I got a chicken quesadilla which was huge and packed full of cheese and chicken! Totally worth it and I devoured the whole thing so quick! My husband got a carne asada burrito which he also devoured in record time. He loved it! read more

Came here with some friends. Greeted quickly and staff was very kind. Service was quick and efficient. Food was pretty tasty. I'm very picky on rice and this one had flavor which I enjoyed. We had a margarita pitcher which was delicious. Next time, I'd skip the flan. Felt rubbery in some parts and didn't feel like it was authentic, more of a plastic container. Found this place near my house and tried them once and wasn't too sure but found what I liked and then found that they make these "Casa Special" margaritas. Wow. I've never had a margarita like that. I enjoy beverages and I generally have a tolerance, but not after just one of those. Generally, one drink and you're okay. I usually order the Enchilada Suizas with flour tortillas instead of corn, the Casa Special, and street tacos. Their chips and salsa is delicious. We generally add some more salt to the salsa and stir and eat. read more

Showed up to this restaurant last minute for a table of 8 on a Sunday and we were quickly accommodated! Tried this restaurant out for the first time, and we all were very pleased. I love this place. It's close to my work and I've been here a dozen times during the lunch hour...but not since Covid. Saturday my wife and I were trying to find a 'sit down/wait staff experience' mexican restaurant that serve great margaritas. We struggled finding this type of restaurant in the sea of taquerias in San Jose. We chose to drive 25 minutes up to Milpitas to go to an old stand by, Casa Azteca. I hadn't been here since the pandemic started. What I nice surprise to see a fairly busy restaurant after the lunch hour (2pm) and many of the waiters that I hadn't seen for a few years. And of course, that same friendly service that I remembered. We started with 'Cadillac' margaritas. That were well crafted and served in traditional mexican glassware...I'm really smiling now! My wife and I both order 2 item combinations. I had a chicken enchalada and a beef tostada. The beef was chunks of braised beef and not ground beef. However, the crispy corn tortilla tostada was no longer crispy after a few minutes. I won't order this next time. My wife had a beef tamale and a carne asada street taco. Both were authentic tasting and were very flavorful. The rice and beans are sometimes throw away sides at mexican restaurants...not here. Both were well seasoned and flavorful. I was reminded Saturday that Casa Azteca is a friendly family owned restaurant that hasn't lost a beat surviving the pandemic. I am grateful they are still here and going strong. I can't wait to come back...for a tamale and street tacos! read more

Finally a great full service with full bar Mexican restaurant! Margaritas are strong and generous in beautiful glasses. The service is top notch. But the FOOD is also great. Loved the steak mexicana cooked perfectly in a wonderful sauce. Salsa and chips are very good. Love the spice in their salsa. Brought guests with us and they loved every single bite also. read more

Casa Azteca has served the South Bay with its incredible menu of Mexican Cuisine since 1980. From their irresistible chips and authentic salsa to their famous enchiladas, Casa Azteca has continued to impress its customers from the beginning. Casa Azteca means the House of the Aztecs and was named in honor of the Aztec Indians of Mexico and their wonderful traditions by the founders, Humberto (Beto) and Socorro Cardenas. Believe it or not it all started in a tiny little town of Atengo, Mexico where although they never met as children, they were both born there. Beto moved away at the age of 3 and it was in 1965 that a chance meeting in North Hollywood, CA was the beginning of this love story. In 1974 they married and the dream of opening their own restaurant was started. Beto's love for food and amazing ability in the kitchen along with Socorro's friendly and warm personality made them the perfect match to provide a wonderful customer experience.

It's not watered down like other restaurants, it's full bodied and meats (tripe and pata) are soft. I do wish we had an option of hominy that we can request. Burrito have been filling as I have tried several meats. It's heavy to the hand and filling to anyone's belly. Sometimes I enjoy for 2 mini meals in a day. Quesa birria tacos are the third favorite. Cheesy, crispy and greasy in the best way. Consume is flavorful too. The least favorites are the barbacoa (soup) as itwas mostly broth and minimal shreds of beef, if any. The tacos are enjoyed by family, but there is an abundance of a taste or flavor I don't prefer. I maybe wrong but I think it's oregano (but again not 100%). The third not so fav are the regular nachos with just cheese and jalepeno. Also, a negative is that 2 orders were missing items. So check your bags to make sure. So thats not a good feeling when that part of someone's order but recourse is to drive back or let third party know to get a few dollars off. We prefer to receive order and enjoy. Not to follow up with a drive back or a complaint of an item shortage to get refunded a few bucks. Otherwise the staff inside are very nice and understanding. The menudo and burrito are favorited of mine. I will follow up and order other dishes or appetizers, along with the weekend red menudo.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Casa Azteca. They truly made my anniversary a very memorable experience. I read the reviews on Yelp and decided to recommend to my love that we come here for something to eat before we went to the movies on our anniversary. We were just expecting good food, but what we got was so much more! The atmosphere was beautiful and we were greeted at the front door by a kind hostess who seated us and took my coat. We had two waiters who immediately brought us menus, chips, salsa, ice water and asked if we'd like to order any drinks to start. We ordered drinks (lemonade and dr. pepper) and they were brought within 2 minutes. The waiters then gave us time to decide what we wanted to order as a main course. We were seated right by two big screen TVs. I ordered the fajita dinner with the tortilla soup to start. My love ordered the enchilada and tostada dinner with a salad to start. Our salad and soup were brought to us within 5 minutes. My love said the salad tasted so fresh and crisp that it was as if they washed each piece of lettuce in the salad individually, I tasted the salad and it was great. My tortilla soup was THE BOMB! The flavors blew me away (yes, he was devouring my soup too). The soup also came with sour cream and 1/4 of an avocado diced up. Then our dinner plates came. They were huge, full of food, very generous sides (guacamole, cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo) and refriend beans with cheese and spanish rice. The platter with the filling for my fajitas (steak, bell peppers and onions) was sizzling and when I made the first fajita, it was delicious. We shared each other's food, letting one another taste what we had ordered, finding we were also please with each other's meals. To top it all off, we came on a Friday night when they have a live band. Two kind gentlemen came to our table and asked if we would like to pick a song for them to sing to us. When we told them it was our anniversary, they became excited and sang a song called "The Two of Us" in Spanish. He told us the last line was "and we walk off into the sunset together". Then they sang us another song. As they sang, we smiled and gazed into each other's eyes, falling in love all over again. It was so romantic. Best of all, we got this romantic evening with great food, great service and a great atmosphere for only $30.53. I give Casa Azteca 5 stars. I recently had the pleasure of dining at this Mexican restaurant and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. To start, I ordered the guacamole and chips which was freshly made and bursting with flavor. For my entree, I opted for the enchiladas with green sauce and I was blown away by the rich, tangy flavor of the sauce and the tender, juicy chicken inside. The portion sizes were generous and I left feeling happily satisfied. What really stood out to me though was the exceptional service. Our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, which made for a truly enjoyable dining experience. I'm a sucker for the old neighborhood mexican restaurants. This one is a winner. The decor is what I would imagine from a 1960's mexican restaurant in Vegas. The staff is very friendly. The manager, Harry, is an exceptionally friendly and accomadating guy with a knack for good service. He also owns a restaurant in his home country of Tibet... or something along those lines. The food is very tasty. Salsa is very spicy. Soups are good, housemade. Enchiladas were great, well seasoned. Walked out paying $25 with a tip. The food was a bit scantily clad, if you know what I mean. The cheese was... almost none, instead of all over the top. The base of the Chile Relleno was stiff, - more like fresh pizza bottom crust and the food had no seasoning at all. Bland. Could hardly taste the sauce-gravy that was poured over the top. The mashed Pinto beans were more of the same. It came with a side of lettuce salad. Unremarkable. The rice was good, however. Kind of disappointing, overall. I recently stopped by and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The steak burrito was absolutely delicious perfectly seasoned and packed with high-quality, tender meat and it paired perfectly with their Cadillac margarita, which was smooth and refreshing. What really stood out was the service. The staff was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly, making sure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive. Our server was not only friendly but also had a great sense of humor, which added a fun element to our night. The fact that they provided complimentary chips and salsa was a nice touch. What's even better is that they kindly refilled it for us, even though they were close to closing time. Despite being the last party in the restaurant, we never felt rushed to leave, which made the night enjoyable. I liked my food but it was different from what I was expecting, and a little bland for my taste. Of course I had eaten some of it already, and so it was sort of too late to do much about it. I'd like to know what the "gravy / sauce" is made of. It was also just about flavorless. We shared in eating the tortilla chips and good red salsa dip until the food arrived. Me gusta!! Everytime I go, I get great service (thanks Gustavo) and food. The salsa that comes out at the beginning is spicy, which is a nice treat from the usually so-so bland stuff you get alot. The portions of food are very generous. One small chicken quesadilla is a meal of itself (it's on the appetizer menu). The meat is never over cooked and dried out and it has good flavor. One thing though, they do like their cheese, so you might want to tell them to go easy on it. Always a pleasure to go here. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. We were promply greeted and seated with the standard chips and salsa. But the salsa was great! Hardly ever do you find good spicy salsa. I ordered my standard chicken chimi, however I went on a limb and tried their pea soup for my starter. Wow! It was so good. Way better than most, what a shock! Ya, not a bad Mexican restaurant by any means. The atmosphere here is very fitting. It's nice and clean, a good amount of open space, and nicely decorated. I now live in SF but every time I'm in the South Bay I go to Casa Azteca to eat the Chili Verde. It is the best!!!! The food is good and always hot and the service is good. I also love the split bean soup. This is also a good place for a party. They have a room in the back side area that fits a ton of people and you don't have to be concerned with making noise. Once I came early with my partner and we had dinner and drinks. Then friends showed up an hour layer, sat at a different table, and ordered separately with their own drink cards. The wait staff combined their check with ours and refused to separate it. How does that even make sense? They refuse to create separate bills for different drink cards which is stupid. They refuse to split checks. They didn't let us participate in happy hour because we didn't want to sit at the bar or outside in the cold. The staff here are terrible and want to make it the worst experience possible. I seriously cannot understand who combines checks for separate parties and checks who show up at separate times! Like where is the logic in that. Absolutely terrible place

The fresh-made guacamole was also tasty. However, the shrimp in my tacos were not fresh and overcooked -- quite tough. The combo plate my partner ordered was a bit bland and nothing too exciting. The fajitas were solid, and there's not much room for error there. Overall, the chips, salsa, and guacamole boosted my rating. The building and space are really beautiful. And again, the staff was friendly.

Love that they are a neighborhood staple. One of the few restaurants left that still has room for large family gatherings.
