When I was looking for a mechanic that I could trust and was located near me plus I felt like they explained things well, luckily I found Cary's. I read a lot of Google reviews for Cary's Auto Service, and they overwhelmingly positive. As a plus, luckily it is right down the street from me. Chris has been the main person that I usually talk to when I'm there, he is not Cary, even though I'm sure people think he is, but he's a great representative of the company. He is respectful and kind, treats you like a regular person, he talks you and uses words you can understand regarding car stuff. Plus he's so pleasant to interact with. As a woman trying to get work done on my truck sometimes there's a feeling of being taken advantage of, but not here. I trust these guys and they do great work. They've been taking care of my truck for a few years now, and as you can see from my photos, I love my truck. Her name is Gunnie because the paint color is gun metal gray. she's been good to me. My husband brought one of our cars in to get the brakes changed. We dropped it off for about a day I believe paid and picked it up. We noticed the brakes didn't feel "new" or replaced but we believed the business when they said they changed them, especially because we paid for the service. Then our car began grinding when we would break. We eventually brought the car to a different shop to figure out what is going on, and were told our brakes were old and had NOT been replaced. We feel scammed and deceived. I'm not sure what was done to our car but we paid for a service that was never actually done. Hopefully they are not Ripping off other customers because this is absolutely unacceptable. We now have to pay almost $1000 to another place to get everything fixed on top of paying Cary's Auto Service for NOTHING. read more

We heard about Cary's Auto Service from a friend, who received a strong referral from another friend. They told us all about Cary's quick turn around, honest approach and quality service. We didn't hesitate to bring our 2009 Toyota Corolla in for an inspection, and we were highly impressed with the affordable repairs that were recommended to keep the vehicle (120K miles) in tip-top shape. More recently, Cary and his team found that the rear brakes in our 2014 Honda CR-V weren't properly installed by a local dealership. The brake caliper mount bolts were not fully tightened and we had been driving without any rear brakes! Chris documented the issue and personally guided us through the process of contacting the dealership in order to receive a refund on: A) the original brake job and B) Cary's repair. Chris also helped us negotiate a FREE, full inspection by the dealership to correct issues related to our last repair with them. If there is such thing as Yelper's remorse that might apply to my experience at Cary's. I may have even mentioned to Cary after I got my car back that I would put in a good word on Yelp. But my feelings about the experience were were lukewarm after I took it to another shop. HENCE the Yelper's remorse! So I noticed a transmission fluid leak in my garage when I parked my car one day and based on the reviews I decided to have Cary take a look at it. I left it for the day. Cary called me back and said it's a terrible gushing leak and the whole floor in his garage was covered in oil. He made it clear that he wouldn't proceed to address it any further to stop the leak and he would only charge me for just topping off all the fluids that came out. At the time I thought oh how nice of him for not charging me the full labor rate for the repair! Essentially only charging me what he normally charges for an oil change. Now at the time Cary was very thorough in explaining to me and setting the certain expectations but he came off as very cautious which I did appreciate at the time. Almost like he aims to please all his customers which I'm sure he does. Bottomline after going to another repair shop they were able to fix it within a day. There was no type of pushback from the other shop about how bad the leak was and that they wouldn't take on the repair. I'm still leaving 3 stars for Cary's honesty and integrity and being such an affable person. His wife who greeted me when I first stepped into the office was also very nice as well. But under the circumstances Cary you didn't complete the job. Bottomline you didn't fix my leak because you didn't want to! read more

For starters, Cary is one of the nicest and most honest business men I've encountered throughout my driving career. I had some issues with my bumper and headlight; took my car in and Cary fixed it up right away! He even did a thorough check of my car to make sure that everything was running smoothly for my upcoming trip to San Diego! His prices are affordable and never once did I feel like I was being taken advantage of. Best part? He texted me a couple weeks later to make sure everything was still up to par. Sadly, here's an example of an auto shop blatantly taking advantage of a customer. The car that needed repairs is a Toyota Matrix. Very commonplace, the sane production line as the Corolla. Cary's is amazing. My wife and I were in a car accident right in front of their shop. Chris happened to hear the crash and came running over. He was basically the first responder. He calmed us down and made us feel like everything was going to be okay. From there, they helped us every step of the way through that ordeal. OK, so I drop my cats off to get shaved today, and I run to Target. I come out of Target and roll my windows down just to let out some of that stank, nasty, hot air. When push the button to roll the windows back up 30 seconds later, the driver's side window goes up but the passenger side window will not go up. So I think I am clever, and that I'm going to make it work by leaning over and pushing the window up button on the actual passenger door, yeah right. It is broken, which sucks for a multitude of reasons: it is 8,000 degrees out and having hot are blow in the car sucks, I can't really lock up my car so any crackhead can just take whatever they want, sleep in it, pee in it, whatever, and my cats need to get home from the groomers. One of my cats rides in a carrier, but the other one just rides free in the car. He loves it, and watches out the window the whole time. Unfortunately, if the window won't roll up, I'd have to drive home holding a cat that wants to jump out and play at every stop. I cannot even imagine trying to drive and hold on to a cat at the same time. I do not have Cary's number, so I drive straight to their shop. I walk in and tell Brad the problem, he tell me there are 2 possible solutions and that completely fixing it involves pretty expensive parts. He immediately calls to check on the cost of the parts and they are $300 plus labor. He also gives me the option of them just putting the window back up and securing that there for $42 parts & labor. SOLD! They immediately started the fix, even though I came in unannounced, and they seem to have a garage full of cars. They were super nice, and Cary even came back in to ask me if everything was doing well from my previous repair. I felt like these guys were both respectful and took great care of me. I was out of there in a little over a 1/2 hour, and the groomers called to let me know the cats were ready as I was paying. Perfect timing! Once again a great job by Cary's Auto Service. As for my passenger window, it is staying up, and if my passengers don't like, they can suck it. ;) read more

A friend of mine kept telling me how wonderful Cary is, and I didn't believe her until I finally took my car to him for some repairs. He's efficient, friendly and a great mechanic. But most of all, he is honest. He is the most honest mechanic I have ever dealt with. He will not fix something without calling you first and getting your approval, he will not fix anything unnecessary, and he will tell you when and where it is best for you to spend your money. For example, I have a 1987 Honda CRX with 270,000 miles. It has some issues, but overall is a decent car. I had been told by many people, friends and mechanics, that I needed a new transmission and that to rebuild the transmission would easily cost over $1000. Cary looked at it and told me that it would cost $700 to fix a couple of different issues, including the clutch, but not the transmission. He recommended for me to not get the transmission rebuilt on a car with so many miles, because it would probably cause more harm than good. The CRX has been running great ever since. Everyone has come to expect that mechanics are shady, yet Cary is almost honest to a fault. So I tell everyone how great he is so that he can get more business to make up for the fact that he doesn't screw anyone over. read more

So, I haven't been to Cary's, but I felt compelled to share a positive experience after I called to inquire about an oil change. Whoever answered was very honest in saying that Cary's doesn't offer the cheapest oil change, (because they don't get as good of deal on oil as the big guys) but that I should try Walmart if I'm looking for just the basic/cheap oil change. He went on to say that he even tells his own customers that and to come into him once a year for an oil change and he'll make sure everything is being taken care of that should be taken care of. I typically put auto mechanics in the same category as auto dealerships: Wolves that prey on those that either don't have the knowledge or motivation to take care of their auto needs themselves. For this reason, I buy cars used private party, do my own repairs whenever possible, and generally save thousands of dollars. When it came time to do my timing belt on my 4runner, I decided that the job was a little beyond my skill level (plus it was over 100F outside at the time). I shopped the work around, and was quoted about $700-800 fot the timing belt replacement alone at the local dealerships. I was referred to Cary by a friend of mine who had recently had work done and was very impressed by his level of honesty and knowledge. I rolled the dice and was completely satisfied. Cary gave me a ball park quote, and started work immediately. He ended up replacing my timing belt, water pump, thermostat, 3 drive and accessory belts, a bearing for $670 (including tax, parts, labor, and materials). He also did a complete coolant change with the rather spendy red yota coolant. This was done in 5 hours. Dropped off at 8am, done by lunch. Awesome. Could not have been happier with the service. He tore everything down, gave me a quote, and then invoiced me for the quoted price. After this experience, I have decided that I am better served taking it to him than doing complex stuff myself. I've only had a few of experiences with Cary, and all of those experiences have been defined by their informativeness and their honesty. The eponymous Cary has extensive knowledge of cars, and many of our conversations have involved him unabashedly espousing his passion for them. Most importantly however, he's the most honest car mechanic I've ever met - he's not shy about inviting you into the shop and showing you exactly what's wrong with your beloved automobile. If it turns out to be nothing, he's just as happy to send you away with nothing more than a smile and a wink. Just be warned, however - do not drop your car off and expect to get it back in an hour or two. Cary is extremely thorough, and will often spend an entire day with a car to figure out what's going on with it. I called in for urgent service and since they couldn't see me when I needed, the owner gave me outstanding advice for alternative, affordable, and reliable quick lube, oil, filter at a competitor who isn't looking to make a profit on the LOFR (as they have alternative motives for obtaining that business). I was referred to Cary by you, my Yelpers! My car flunked smog in Az (but passes in Ca... ?) and i'm trying desperately to get my car registered here but the CA DMV and some bs on my dashboard are conspiring to smack me with a $500 fine for driving an illegal car... This review is long overdue. I took my 07 Tundra to him a couple years ago to get my water pump replaced and do some routine maintenance. He got everything done very quickly and didn't try to sell me on getting unnecessary/expensive repairs like so many other places are notorious for. He was recommended to me by a friend of mine that owns an auto shop, who told me he would trust his own car with him. I read through some of the reviews and the same words kept coming up: honest, fair, friendly, trustworthy, etc. From my experience, they are spot on. I have a friend that asked my advice on where to take her car because her AC went out. I immediately told her to take it to Cary's, which prompted me to write this review.
