Ordering experience: I went to Carvel on 02/20/2026 to order a cake for pickup on 03/21/2026. Unfortunately, ordering in store was not "easy", even though it was really easy last year. I'm guessing the worker was new, but the customer service was just very off. I would give him a certain detail of the cake, he would write it down, and then there were just long awkward pauses where he would just stare at me and not say anything else to me. I had to repeatedly ask if he needed more information or if I could pay now, but he would just continue to stare, and then just when I thought everything was finished, he would finally ask another question after a significant delay. It genuinely took a while, and it was just a strange and draining process. I was also given wrong information after all that waiting. One question he asked me was what size heart-shaped cake I wanted. He told me the sizes, and I responded with 8 inches. Later on, another worker came over to ring me up and asked me what size I wanted. I told him the first worker already wrote down 8 inches. I was then told that 8 inches isn't even an option for a heart-shaped cake. It's always great to train your workers more, but I think it would also be really beneficial to have a form asking for the details required to order a cake. That way, the customer can fill out the details of the cake themselves! It really would have saved a lot of my time and made the entire process much smoother. Cake experience: The cake turned out well :) I think it helped that I clarified details about the cake when I emailed them the photo to print on the cake. Pickup was easy. Since I had a designated pickup date and time slot, all I had to do was walk in and ask for the cake. read more

I was craving ice cream and I remembered Carvel was nearby. I don't make it in often, unless I'm in the area.. This place is nostalgic because they've been around for a while. Ahhh memories!! So I stopped in to try the birthday cake ice cream. The cashier was nice. There are a few seats to eat inside. The birthday cake ice cream was ok, but it was too many sprinkles. I was crunching on the sprinkles more than the ice cream. I think next time I'll get it without sprinkles, and I'll enjoy it more. I ordered 2 scoops of the butter pecan ice cream and immediately noticed something was off -- it didn't taste like butter pecan at all. I even mentioned it to my husband while eating it. I'm glad I didn't finish it, because I barely made it home before getting sick. I can't say for certain what caused it, but the off taste and the aftermath were enough for me. Okay, let's be straight with each other - did anyone else not know that Carvel did treats other than cake? Just me?! I came with my family because I kept getting ads about their sundays and ice cream treats with the crunchies. You know, the chocolate crunchies that are inbetween the layers or Carvel ice cream cakes? THOSE chocolate crunchies!!! We HAD to come! I was pretty surprised that they had full freezers of ice cream sandwiches, cakes, and ice cream. They have a pretty big menu of frozen treats from cones, to milkshakes, and blizzard-like treats. I opted to get an ice cream cone with the crunchies (obv) and my boyfriend got a chocolate oreo milkshake. The milkshake is THICCCK with three C's y'all! It comes with a spoon to help out, lol. We've driven by Carvel a million times on the boulevard and I can't believe we've never stopped in! The staff was so kind and deserve an A+ for presentation. We got the Banana Foster and a soft serve swirl with rainbow sprinkles. Man, they LOADED us up on the toppings. Look at all that caramel!! This place should be illegal because it is so good. My sister always raves about Carvel. Growing up I had their cakes and to me it was just another cake but in Ice Cream form. BUT let me tell you, this place is now my guilty pleasure. Their chocolate crunchies carvelanche is soooooo good! I remember growing up as a kid and absolutely falling in love with the chocolate crunchies in their ice cream cake, so that is why I decided on the carvelanche. The soft serve and the crunchies --chef kiss-- and I highly recommend it; however it may be gone in minutes if you devour it like I did. I also got the Brookie Sundae Dasher and it was amazing! I got a small but it is still a good amount of ice cream! I had to actually put this one in the freezer because it was so rich. However, even after eating it the next day it still tasted great. The store is a bit small so it can't hold that many people in there and there wasn't many cake options for those who are looking for cakes. This review might be a bit biased because I LOVE Carvel and have lots of memories of a child getting the soft serve and ALWAYS a Carvel cake for my birthday. :) If I could I would eat it everyday. We were immediately taken care of by a very nice girl. I wish I got her name. We were there on National Ice Cream Day. She asked if we were ready or needed more time. Nice. I asked her questions and she answered all of them and told us about a NEW flavor and offered us a sample. Nice. I got my norm....chocolate soft serve and my husband got the new flavor. I found myself in the midst of a rough day and thought, "You know what? I'm going to eat my feelings." It's the right and adult thing to do. Off to Carvel. I don't usually come to Carvel too often, as I don't usually over indulge on ice cream cakes, ice cream cones, and shakes, oh my. I came in on my birthday to get an ice cream cake, which I'm still eating little by little. When you come in, the place is actually pretty small. There are cakes in the coolers to the right as you enter the place. They also have regular ice cream, soft serve ice cream, shakes and more. They also have some indoor and outdoor seating. When I came in, it was actually a little busy. I wasn't overly surprised considering how warm it had been outside around that time. After finding the right size cake, I used the birthday coupon I got in my email from them as well. On a side note regarding coupons, the staff told me that they honor all of their coupons, whether expired or not. The staff here are very friendly and are willing to help you in any way possible. You don't feel rushed into getting something. Now, for the ice cream cake itself. The ice cream cake was delicious. I've always had a great experience with cakes from Carvel. Even though it was a bit of a hike to bring it home, it was still nice and cold with minimal melt as well. Nothing from the cake tasted overpowering from other parts of the cake. We've been going to this establishment at least once a month but now it's not longer worth it. This was suppose to be a banana dasher, basically is a melted ass ice cream. Workers were lazy and said, ugh I have to cut up a banana. Then some lady walks into the store and goes straight to the back and makes her 4 shakes and walked out, clearly did not pay for it while I paid over $5 for melted ice cream and sloppy as well. There are other locally owned ice cream stores that my family and I well support. I haven't been to carvel in years. There was such a nice young man working behind the counter, quite but very helpful. Extremely knowledgeable and good at his job. He anticipated that because i had kids and said i want a small, he recommended i look at the size. A small is really large for kids and im glad he pointed that out i went 2 sizes down to kids. When we arrived yesterday evening there was a line. A guy and a girl were behind the counter. Once we were waiting in line and deciding on flavors, I said to my boyfriend about most of the hard ice cream being melted and gross looking. Upon further inspection, we seen a hair in not 1 but 3 containers of hard ice cream. My boyfriend told the girl about it who simply scooped the hair out and did not remove the ice cream from the case ! I really hope you didn't serve that ice cream to anyone else. Love their cakes. It's always been My favorite. I saw on their site that they have online ordering but you need 24 hrs notice for pick up. I called them and asked if they have a cake ready for me in a short amount of time. They said yes and I placed my order. At pick up they were fast and friendly. The only problem I have us that they spelled My daughter's name wrong. Her name is kalie and they put Katie. The girl said she thought it needed to be a t not l. My thing is you have my number call and verify. She did change the t to an l but after that it just looked sloppy. I didn't have time to wait on something else so I just went with it. Ok so this place is the epitome of customer service!!! The most friendly and gracious women served us today at about 3pm. Super kind and pleasant!!! Exactly how someone working at such a happy place, like carvel, should be. They both had so much patience and consideration that kids sometimes need during these ice cream runs. I just left Carvel with a gaggle of children in tow. We went there after driving all over creation trying to find a Ben & Jerry's that's apparently no longer open (on Great Neck Road). Carvel was the second choice. All the kids loved it. One got soft serve in a waffle cone and the other got scoop ice cream in a cup with sprinkles. It's hard to mess up ice cream as far as kids are concerned. But I'm a little more picky. Carvel was definitely not my favorite although I enjoyed my mint chocolate chip just fine. I don't like Dairy Queen. I don't even consider soft serve to be ice cream--it's some type of ice cream like substance. So I would never compare Carvel to DQ since the former serves actual ice cream. Ben & Jerry's and Coldstone are far superior as far as chains go. Or the local Yoder Dairy. I really miss Bergey's :(). Also this Carvel was really hot today. Not sure why.
