I have always ordered personalized birthday cakes here for my husband and my kids, and the owner has always been absolutely amazing. However, my experience today was very frustrating. When I arrived, I went back and forth with an associate who claimed he couldn't find my order--even though it was sitting right there in the freezer. When the owner finally stepped in and found it, the associate gave me a terrible attitude and rudely told me, 'You didn't give me the right name and you don't know the words.' But i did. I would have gladly given this place 5 stars, but that interaction made me incredibly uncomfortable, especially because of the employee's disrespectful tone and the way he spoke to me! The old guy was very rude and abrupt - my kids being kids and never having tried some flavors like rocky road wanted a sample and he was like "it's just chocolate with nuts". After a whole day of celebrating the 4th of July (having a picnic in a state park/beach in Long Island) our group decided to stop by carvel and grab an ice cream cake to cool down body. I never been to any carvel before and I was surprised on the amount of treats they have to offer. I saw ice cream sandwiches in their freezer chest and was tempted to get some but successfully resisted myself. I am currently on a low sugar diet and I just don't wanna ruin my progress. So, me and my friends decided to grab a small cake and have the staffs write "Happy 4th" on it. I was impressed on how quickly the staff wrote down on the cake what we requested. The group went to our friend's house and we sliced the cake to 10 and to be shared. This is the part where I can't resist it anymore... forget the low sugar diet for now. So I had my slice of the cake and its been awhile since I had one... oh boy I really miss the taste of it! I would definitely drop by soon to another carvel branch and maybe the one near me. Owner is a horrible business man. He changes prices, is rude, makes half fast occasion cakes that cost a fortune and thinks he is the only Carvel in town (well you are not. There is one up the road in Hicksville next to Holy Trinity and I will be going there from now on.) Also I got a vanilla cone and gave him my $5 gift card and do you know what this cheap owner said? "I don't accept $5 gift cards! Who does not accept carvel gift cards no matter what the price? You know who?? Cheap owner with no business ethics. But You know who did accept it??? Great service. Clean. One of the best carvels in Nassau. They do not up charge for credit card use, unlike syosset carvel.

Have been going to this carvel for years, but recently stopped going due to this unfortunate situation. I came in and got a mint chocolate chip ice cream, only to come home and have it be completely sour and expired. I understand this can happen, but when I heard why this happened I was shocked. I called them to let them know, and the young man on the other end said that he knew the freezers turned off and that ice cream was probably not good, but his boss told him to serve it and that it would be fine. Thank god I noticed it wasn't good after a few tastes and threw it out. They offered me another ice cream, but not sure I'll go back due to the boss probably not looking out for what's best for the customers. read more

I visited with my family from Florida. We have heard about Carvel and how good it was so we decided to stop in and try. So many choices so we asked for the teeny teeny sample spoon size and after the 2nd one the owner told the worker we weren't allowed to try any more. With so many choices how could we know without trying. Owner was a pompous cheap skate like the little sample spoon was eating into overpriced pockets. Shame on him and Carvel. In sunny Florida the ice cream shops will let you sample at will. read more

Not very customer friendly. Recently went in and ordered a specific cake. When i picked it up it was not what i wanted. Staff called owner and he was going to offer me $2 off. $2 for giving us a cake which was not the theme we asked for (from him a few days earlier). I said that was not acceptable that I wanted $10 off cake (original cake price $39.99). He said that it was too much and that he needed to make money on the cake and now he would loose too much. That's nice. Glad he is making money while he is giving out cakes with his own decoration. No apology. Said i wasn't forced to even take the cake...that's nice...daughters party was in 1 hour and these are my options. One would think you should try and keep a customer. Try to satisfy a customer...no...let's offer $2 off a $40 cake for messing it up. Will never go hear again!!!! read more
