There's a lot of posters and a lot of signage that says they really love their donors and yada yada yada. The truth is they have zero respect for their donors by issuing them FINTWIST card. This card will charge you for looking at it. It is cheap for trying clawback revenue through a payment card that is fee driven. This company understands. I am sure that most of their clients are on the low end of the economic scale yet they have seen fit to give their clients one of the worst payment cards I've ever seen. So again, five stars for the people that work here AND zero stars for corporate for choosing FINTWIST as a payment card. Shame on you. I have donated at this center 41 times. I landed this center because they are fairly efficient. I think All PLASMA companies have pluses and minuses. This one is the most efficient so five stars for that.

I used the thermometer in my mouth like I've always done at every other BioLife -- no one had ever said that was a problem. But this time, without any explanation, I was flagged and blocked from donating on my next visit. The staff never told me it was a policy violation, never gave a warning, and didn't have a conversation with me about it in the moment. It just turned into a surprise deferral with no heads-up. I wasn't rude, didn't refuse anything -- I simply followed the exact same process that's always been accepted at other BioLife locations. I get that some centers may have different procedures, but if that's the case, then it should be explained clearly -- not turned into a silent punishment. This felt inconsistent and unprofessional. I've already been cleared, but I'm leaving this so future donors don't get caught off guard. Ask questions up front at this location, because apparently not all BioLifes are run the same. When I originally called to ask some general questions about what exactly a doula does, she was kind, patient, and so freaking educated about the process of childbirth. We were offered a tour of Baylor hospital (virtual due to COVID), newborn classes, and tons of educational resources after booking with NDDA. What stood out to me most was the fact that the all female team there just made you feel like you were so seen, every step of the way. As a Black woman, childbirth can be an extremely scary experience, just look up the statistics of mistreatment in the healthcare space for minorities. Melissa and team advocated for my husband and I. I wanted to honor my placenta because it's such an incredible and powerful organ, and I'm obsessed with the art prints. They're both framed and are hanging up in my daughters' room. I've worked with Meredith L. and Madison Prez for the placenta encapsulation. They were both very easy to contact and responded promptly over text. I worked with Madison most recently, and she picked up the placenta and quickly processed it and delivered it to my home. I got placenta pills, a tincture, the keepsake cord, and the art print. First of all, I highly recommend setting an appointment ahead of time (as soon as possible since slots fill up pretty fast). My first visit took over an hour and a half without an appointment (Flower Mound location), while my second (scheduled) visit only took about 20-25 minutes (Hurst location at the hospital). You can also check in online if you schedule an appointment. If you have to do any testing multiple times I recommend creating an account if you want to save some time. Most of the time spent here is in the waiting room. The process itself goes pretty quickly.

I like this spot. It is large, clean, and parking is plentiful. The people are friendly and my appointments are timely. If I ever have to wait, it is not long. I see a lot of the same people here and can grab some butter butters after I am done. (Seriously I just do it for the cookies). I will occasionally go to a different location just for convenience with my schedule or location, but this is my main...stop. Always in and out in under an hour. Come hydrated!

The wait time was a bit extreme: over 30 minutes. I was lucky enough to get to spend that time…read morelistening to three old men compare battle wounds, medications, and symptoms. Definitely feels like an old barber shop in the waiting room. Very small town feel, which is quaint and hard to find these days. When I got to see the doctor, he was very thorough and I felt listened to and cared for, except for the fact that he asked me the same questions the nurse asked me and even though he saw me nursing my son when he came in the room (seriously, I was there way longer than I should have been and my baby was starving) he gave me a Rx that you shouldn't take while breastfeeding. He did, however, write down everything I said and took copious notes. So I don't know what to think of that. The nurse wasn't great. I've never, ever had anyone not find a good vein (and I've had a good amount of blood draws/donations in my day), and she ended up having to go in my hand with a smaller needle. Not that big of deal, but it was kind of annoying. I love Dr Vrushab in this practice and she's my main doctor. I think I'll stick with her from now on. UPDATE - At my appt, I was told that someone would call me to schedule a CT scan. It's been almost two weeks and I haven't received a phone call. Luckily(?) my symptoms got so bad that I ended up going to the ER; who knows when/if they would have called to get me in for that scan. Not impressive at all.
