I've been craving a meatball sub for a while, decided to give Cartelli's a shot at curbing this craving. Price is decent, taste is not that great. The meatballs are definitely homemade, but unfortunately the oregano flavor is SO overpowering that they're just not enjoyable. It was also severely lacking sauce, I had to use the extra sauce that came with the fried mozzarella. The chicken parm sub was good, really big and fairly priced. Based on reviews, I decided to try Cartelli's this past Saturday for Pizza takeout. The place was packed with no seats available while I waited. Wait staff were all professional and friendly. I had called in an order for a Large PMO's, and after arriving home, the Pizza looked wonderful. Unfortunately, it was undercooked, and horrible tasting. Absolutely worst service. Been there frequently. We walked in and got a nasty look from one of the bartenders and we had to wait for 7 minutes to get seated. Once we sat down, we ordered a bottle of wine and some appetizers. After we have been served those, the server said "oh you only have an hour as we have a reservation coming in". At the end the server brought our check and we paid. She didn't even bring it back and say anything to us, not even a plain "thank you". The same bartender that gave us the look as we walked in brought it back for us and didn't even say anything, just kind of dropped it off and gave us a nasty look. Real pity! The wings were good, not bad, nothing to write home about, but good. The pizzas were good as well, the best one was the Roma. Such a good pie. I have only dined here once but wow! They really need a bigger place. I had probably one of the tastiest penne ala vodka plates ever. It was so good and the serving size was very nice for the price. We also tried their meatballs, which put me into an immediate food comma. So good! My better half had the shrimp scampi over linguine which was also very good. Can't wait to go back and try their chicken parmigiana. As for the atmosphere, it's a little loud and cramped but it's where the locals go and it's packed all the time. A testament to their service, food and community ties. As for me, I can be there in two minutes since I'm fortunate enough to live so close. We have had issues in the past with reservations being made yet being forced to wait long periods, but otherwise have had good service. Cartelli's is an amazing gem of a small restaurant conveniently located right off of exit 9 on Route 16. Their food is pricey while also being portioned very well! Their outdoor dining looks super cozy; I have not enjoyed it yet but plan to soon. I especially love the Pesto Alfredo dish because they include mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes. Their spinach artichoke dip is fantastic as well as the bruschetta. Twice now they have made the Ceasar salad I ordered incorrectly. I selected seasonal veggies + roasted red peppers; paying the additional cost and the salad only had the default croutons, parmesean and Ceasars dressing. I will continue ordering from them. This restaurant just opened for the first time in September 2020. With that in mind, I have been here 5 times as of January 2021. The reason for this is because the food is soooo good. I reviewed another person's 1 star review and was amazed, but when you start a new buisness( Especially during covid) you have a lot going on. I wish people who give 1 star reviews instead of hurting a buisness, told the restaurant about the issue to they could learn and get better. I have tried the wings (2nd best in the area with homemade blue cheese). I have tried 4 different pizzas ( all of mine have been perfect but it was clear early they were working out the bugs). The Brecheta is point on and very authentic. This restaurant is without doubt in competition for the best pizza in all of NH at this time. No other place makes pizza like this outside of Boston or NY! Please support your local buisness, especially if they risk all there money to open during covid. 10 of 10 stars!
