Shady business. Avoid this hotel. They violate consumer rights and laws. They refused to provide statement, they refused to provide copy of papers I signed during my move in. I would like to rate the Bartender at the Horse Shoe style bar inside the casino. 10/9/18 about 340 pm... The bartender was awful. Took a long time for him to help us. Only about 5 people sitting at the bar. He was talking with the cocktail waitress and two different friends or locals he knew. I asked if he had any craft beer. He said no. Later after I left I saw he did have one IPA craft beer on tap. Video Poker Machines have awful odds. Honestly, I really shouldn't have played looking at the payouts. Didnt hit any good payouts. On 25c Double Double Video Poker, after $200 the highest hand was one full house. No 4 of a kinds at all. Wife lost $100 and hit one full house. No 4 of a kinds. So, that went real quick. We went in and out real quick. I dont think this casino wants you to stay long. I hope others have better luck. read more

It's sad, I have never used Yelp because I don't like to leave bad reviews but this is a special case. Chris the pit boss for the card tabels is a complete joke. We had a group of 5 people at a 5$ table and once Chris came in he changed it to a 10$ tabel and wouldn't grandfather us in. He rather watch 5 people spending money walk away rather then grandfather us in. I have NEVER EVER been to a casino that wouldn't do this. He even went as far to say "think of this like a Asian buffet" I will never be coming back here again. Even if I'm in Minden I rather go stay at a motel 6. NEVER COME HERE! But I do have to say they have really nice bartenders and waiters but Chris really destroyed my experience here. If I could leave a zero or a half star I would. read more

Family friendly place. Enjoyed my stay with my family. Staff was friendly and the pool and spa was great.

Accommodations are good and physical plant is well kept up. The Steakhouse is surprisingly good, well managed, well staffed with wild game friday a very nifty specialty. Katie's restaurant is a large coffee shop type restaurant with a large and varied menu. My pet peeve and gripe? they use ketchup with high fructose corn syrup! I even had a conversation with the manager about this many months ago. Given that there is no difference in price between the healthier ketchup and that nasty tasting, bad for any living thing HFCS ketchup, why not just order the non-HFCS. Not only do you send a signal to diners that you actually care about their health, you give the impression that you likely do a whole lot of other things better as well. Maybe someday.... read more

We stayed in the motor lodge, which was cheaper than staying in the actual hotel/casino. It was $60/night. We stayed one night. Initially, they gave us 1 king bed for each room when we needed 2 beds. Carson Valley Inn is the place to do some gaming in Gardnerville. It's not going to wow you with flashy, grand appurtenances like the hotels on the strip in Vegas or Reno, but you're not in Vegas or Reno while you're here. You're in Garnderville, and this is where the locals come to spend their hard-earned dough. The gaming space is fairly small here, but doesn't have that dingy, worn-out feel that a lot of older locals-focused casinos have. There's a bit of shine to the place and while it definitely is a smoking establishment, the air in here is not as bad as some other spots can get. There are a few gaming tables on the floor and a bunch of slots and video machines. I go for the blackjack, and their tables are totally passable. Nice low limits ($5-$300), friendly and helpful dealers, and two-deck systems. The cocktail servers are much more on-point than I have experienced at some larger casinos - we had no trouble getting drinks. If you get hungry after some serious gaming, Katie's is there for your large-plate, small-cost offerings. The place gets packed - last time we showed up there was a wait - but the food is pretty decent country fare (steaks, fried chicken, burgers, sandwiches - all in servings that fill the table). Locals pack the place. Staff here is friendly and helpful. They seem to have a lot of regulars who stop in, and they treat them all in a welcoming manner. If you want a locals-style gambling experience, Carson Valley Inn has it in spades. read more

We did a Tahoe trip and I'm so glad that we ended up at Carson Valley Inn. I was told through word of mouth that this was a nice hotel/casino which sits at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There was one simple word that described my experience with the staff, the eats, the rooms, and the location of this Carson Valley casino... NICE!!! We were treaded with so much welcoming hospitality that it was overwhelming. The small town scenery and attitude was a very nice change from the regular big town lifestyle that we're used to. Not only were the staff at C.V.I. nice, but also the people in general were nice. Very friendly folks in this neck of the woods. The casino has a very nice steak house and cafe. CV Steak was delicious. Fine dining in a cozy atmosphere. The food that I sampled was amazing and the prices on the menu were VERY reasonable. Just a note, if you like medium rare, ask them to cook it on the rarer side. Perfection at its' best. In the mornings, I always looked forward to going to their cafe. I always left Katie's Country Cafe with a smile and a full stomach. I cleaned off every plate that I ordered and the service was always warm and welcoming. Their rooms were dark and very cozy. Everything looked nice, and the sheets looked very clean. A very big point with the clean sheets. The view outside was amazing! Seeing the Sierra Nevada Mountains right outside of your window really sets your mind at ease. The location of C.V.I. is in Minden, NV. They're in the Carson Valley, neighboring Carson City and Gardnerville. Pretty much just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Lake Tahoe. All the Tahoe area ski resorts are so close to you. Heavenly is probably less than 30 minutes away. Kirkwood was maybe 45 minutes away. FOR REALLY DOE!!! So many resorts to choose from. Forget staying in Reno for your Tahoe Ski/Snowboard trip. Carson Valley Inn is the spot. Great people, great prices, great location, and great everything at the Carson Valley Inn. I HEART THIS PLACE!!! :D read more

First off, I stayed in the motor lodge section, not the actual hotel itself. The rate was $119 per night ($136 incl all taxes and fees). The room was basic, verging on motel 6 basic. Room 4221 has some sort of water heater either above the room or on the other side of the wall. Thing makes a racket every hour or so.... Allll through the night. Woke up 5 or 6 times. What's the point of trying to sleep at a place like this? Really irritating. Mentioned this at checkout (they said they'd let maintenance know), that I was woken up all through the night and that $119 for the hassle was a bit much (they didn't care or offer a discount). GIVE THIS PLACE A PASS IF YOU'RE GOING THROUGH MINDEN. read more

Ok this review is for the casino as we did not stay here. We were staying in a resort in Genoa and they had a special for us to get shuttled here one evening to do some gambling. They offered us a free drink and $10 worth of free play after joining their "players club". We arrived and were taken to the member services counter and set up with cards and sent on our way. I asked about the free drink coupons and she gave them to us saying, well if your gambling you get free drinks anyway. Yeah we all know they say that but then you never see a waitress LOL so forgive me but I wanted my free drink coupon. Sure enough we gambled for about an hour and finally saw a waitress come by, who by the way was NOT a happy employee, very grumpy lady. We ordered 2 drinks and tipped her when she returned and asked if we could order two more. She replied NO she had the whole area to cover and wouldn't be back this way for a while. Judging by how long it took her the first time I believed her. Meanwhile one of our machines ran out of paper to print out the vouchers so we turned on the help light and it took more than 10 minutes and no one came. I tracked down a guy that was I'm guessing security and mentioned it, he said he would get someone. Low and behold our waitress came back and if we thought she was cranky earlier then she was sure extra cranky now! Apparently she was maintenance too! So she had to change the paper and she was sure happy to help us.....NOT. Figuring our free drink time was over we decided to go ahead and wander over to the bar to get our free drink. We went to the sports bar by the front entrance and I asked "whats the strongest drink I can get for this coupon?" he suggested 151 and coke so we got two of those and yep that did it. Thank goodness we got the coupons. All I can say is the employees certainly don't look happy and I would rather gamble and enjoy myself in a place that seems happy to have my business instead of inconvenienced by it. Get some more cocktail waitresses and have some guys that are walking around wiping off machines and doing nothing learn to service them so the waitresses can make customers happy! read more

I've decided to take a Nevada gambling road trip with moms this past August. We decided to stay in the Carson City area and drive down to Vegas after a couple of days. My father told us when he stayed in Carson City that he played in Minden at the Carson Valley Inn and he liked it. He also mentioned they had rooms to stay in. I check out the website and decided to stay in Minden instead of Carson City. I decided to stay in the main hotel instead of the lodge. The rooms were nice. The gambling area is very nice. It surprised me that the casino part was bigger then what it looks like from the outside. Remember this is not Vegas or Reno so these area casinos are not huge. I know, I know......you're asking why I gave it a 5 star? Well....its because of the staff that works here. They have a great staff of people here. The cute cafe, the rewards center, the security, and the support staff were all so nice and friendly. I had a some what scary experience here. I fainted..... No......I wasn't drunk!!!!!! It's just something that I've been doing lately. (it's a heart thing) Anywho......But being by myself and waking up with 5 staff members around me was frightening to me. I was embarrassed and scared. They were all so sincere and friendly and I will never forget how professional and courteous they were. I happened to faint when I was getting my money out of the ticket machine and a stranger even gave me my $60 bucks that I left in there. He didn't have to but he did. We are definitely going to make this place our "go-to" place when we visit this lovely valley. read more

This place is pretty awesome! I stayed in room 107 with a co-worker. 2 queen size beds, huge bathroom, flat screen TV... My favorite part of the stay was the comfy beds. It practically cradled me to bed. I slept like a baby. Noise level: very quiet for a hotel. I barely heard foot steps from upstairs or the hallway. One thing that did bother me about our room. The sheets smells like cigarettes. I'm not sure if it's a smoking room or not but the sheets shouldn't smell like cigarettes. The hotel staff were friendly and HELPFUL. I was asleep but my co-worker wanted toothpaste and was wandering around the hotel looking for it. Not one store in the hotel had any and most of the stores around the hotel were closed (it was almost midnight). The kind hotel security volunteered him to drive my co-worker to the nearest gas station so she can buy her damn toothpaste. Come on, what hotel security would do that? Security at Carson Valley Inn!!! To Carson Valley Inn: Sorry for busting through the emergency exit and setting the alarm off......TWICE! LOLOLOLOL read more

Ok, so we always have come here for a decent meal. Came here tonite and the poor server was left to fend for herself on a Saturday night after only three days new on the job. Next our food sat up in the window for over 20 minutes. They brought it out and it was gross. We asked them to take the turkey dinners back. They microwaved our meals. The plates were so hot that 10 minutes later after we asked for the new plates to be picked up my wife's plate was still steaming lmfao. We asked the supervisor if the new plates were microwaved and she said no. The gravy was water with msg based turkey base with parsley. Carson Valley Inn has went down hill.Lmfao again. Turkey was dried around the edges from taking to many microwaves lol. Oh well mark this off the list . Gardnerville/Minden we are running out of places to eat as a family. read more

CVI is a very clean and well maintained hotel with large rooms and easy parking. The casino is big enough to kill some time but lacking entertainment. The casual restaurant was a pleasant surprise. And the morning baked goods are spectacular! The only downside is the smell of smoke as you enter the building and throughout the main floor with the restaurants. read more

I came here for a little getaway for the holidays expecting something soothing and relaxing. I think this place just wasn't for me. A few things I appreciated was: the large parking lot, the warm inviting decor, the convenient store/cafe, and the restaurants. As for the restaurants and the cafe, I was just pleased with the convenience of them. Nothing more. The room was okay. The wallpaper is over due to be changed actually a lot of it just looked dated. Gave the whole room a grunge look that was a little sore on my eyes and reeked of dust. They also have a casino which seemed nice but there is just too much smoking in such a small place for me to endure. The pool is of course flooded with kids. Actually the whole place itself seemed to have a lot of kids minus the smokey casino. And I think that is what took the peace away for me. It ended up just being a place to sleep and we spent our fun elsewhere. read more

I so agree with other reviews that you will not be aware that you are not booking the main hotel. I booked through hotels.com, paid around 90 buck a day and when I checked-in, I was surprised that we are not staying in main hotel but a in a junk motor logde, which is nothing but a motel (should cost 50$). Motor logde has nothing, too loud, u cannot get a sleep, no facilities, everything is in the main hotel which feels really far when its freezing outside. read more

My family and I usually stay at the CVI a new nights a year in the winter on our way up to Tahoe and occasionally in the summer at the RV park. The CVI is always a highlight of our trip. The rooms are clean and comfortable with high quality linens and very well appointed rooms. We stayed in one of the remodeled suites last year and it was one of the nicest we've stayed in, even at much more expensive resorts. (I don't remember the room number but it was a suite in the corner of the property with a small balcony; there can't be too many of those). The room had a very large spa tub and a steam shower. It was wonderful. We enjoyed a fabulous steak dinner at CV (their steak house in the casino) and had we really love the indoor pool and spa. The gambling part isn't really my thing, but my wife had a great time. We're on our way back up there again in a few days, and I just wanted to relay a big thank you to Travis at the reservation desk. This year, we booked our trip quite a bit in advance at the standard rate for two rooms. A little while ago, we received a coupon for over 50% off the rooms. I called the reservation line half expecting to be told something to the effect of the coupon had to be used at the time of the booking or something like that but, to my surprise, Travis cheerfully applied the discount to the rooms I'd already booked! No questions asked, no hassle, no problems, just top-notch customer service...another reason to love this place. read more

Really enjoyed this hotel Rooms are clean, staff is friendly, and the cafe downstairs is good with an even better price for the quality and portions you get. I stayed at the Carson Valley Inn for three nights with my family in March 2016, and we all loved our experience. The Carson Valley Inn is located on the US-395 in Minden, NV. There are several restaurants and shops that are walking distance from the hotel. There is also a gas station directly next door. Self parking is free around the hotel, and there is also Valet parking, but not sure of the cost. The Carson Valley Inn is a hotel and casino. This is a three story hotel with elevators. The hotel is very clean and well maintained, and nicely decorated. There is a a very nice CV steakhouse, Katie's Country Kitchen - 24 hour restaurant (see separate review), and Job's Perk - a coffee shop, snack bar, and gift shop. There is also a Large indoor heated pool shaped like Nevada. The temperature was very comfortable. There are also two jacuzzi's that are in a separate area, separated by a large glass wall, so you can still see your children playing in the pool. There is also a small gym, which has 5 cardio machines and a strength machine. All of these amenities are open from 6am - Midnight. The Casino is also very nice, lots of slot machines, traditional table games, and a dedicated poker room downstairs. The poker room has daily tournaments and the staff and dealers are all super friendly and very professional. There is also a sports booking area, and a lounge with live performances. The room was wonderful. It was large, clean, well maintained, and had a western contemporary decor. The room keep with free WIFI with a good signal. Desk and chair, table with two additional chairs, medium flat screen HD television with lots of cable channels and free HBO. There is also PPV. Iron/board. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. There is NO room safe. The bathroom was also large, clean and well maintained. Lots of counter-top area, which is nice for families. The tub/shower, toilet and sink are all in one room. There is also a coffee maker and blowdryer. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and found it perfect for our family. Kids loved the pool area. I loved the poker room. We all loved the restaurant. I will stay here again, next time I'm in the area, and would recommend this hotel/casino to all my family and friends. read more

I stayed here for the night before and the night of my wedding. My parents and I rented one of the reception like rooms the night before the wedding so my family could all come and hang out. The food set out was delicious and the lady behind the bar (I don't recall her name but it was Sept 16th, 2016) was super friendly and socialized with anyone who came to get a drink. The room I stayed in was in the secondary part of the hotel, and it was a very nice room. Relatively new looking, clean. We are staying at this spot for our time in Tahoe. Cozy place with some good restaurants inside and nearby. I didn't do any gambling but another friend did and she won twice on the slots! Yay! We had three rooms - a King size bedroom, a double queen bedroom and a SUITE!! All of the rooms were nice! The bathrooms were great as well and there was a mini fridge in all of the rooms too, along with the usual amenities, hair dryer, ironing board, etc... The SUITE was SWEEEET!!! King size bed, a desk, a table, I believe there was a vanity area outside of the bathroom and a JACUZZI!!! We didn't get a chance to actually use it but it was THERE. Awesome. They also had snacks in the room with VERY decent prices unlike other hotels that charge you an arm and a leg for a MINI bag of M&M's. I would DEFINITELY stay here again and recommend this spot to anyone who was heading to Tahoe - it wasn't too far at all from Heavenly or Kirkwood resorts and I'm sure it's a lot more affordable than other spots in the area. SHOUTOUT TO THE STAFF!!!!!!!! Thank you for taking such good care of us! read more

The rooms at the Motel, though at $79+tax per night being a bit overpriced (It's more like a $50 room) is a pretty good place to stay. Pros: I have never seen a hotel/motel so spotlessly clean. They have nice toiletries and the decor is nice (unlike some hotels in which the decor is as hideous as it can get) Cons: Even in the dead of a winter storm, they only have thin blankets on the beds. No plush comforter or even a warm enough blanket. And the heater was either too hot or too cold. The WORST was that they have these lantern style lights out on the balcony, and they shine RIGHT into your room, even with the drapes closed. It lit up the room a lot and made it hard to sleep soundly. Overall, it's a good place, but they need to rethink these few things (price, lights, blankets) and they will be a top notch motel. read more

We went to Katie's. Surly waitress and the food is lousy. You like cheap? You got it.

This is a great place to stay that is in a quiet community. They have a small casino, and lots of good eats in the area. The rooms were large, they have HD TV's big bathrooms, and a super friendly staff, even the person on the phone, when I made the reservations was great. My wife and I discovered CVI years ago. We love the way the staff treats us when we are there. We prefer the small casino/ hotel feel over the large hotel/casino where you get lost in the crowd. We have come to appreciate many of the staff. Liz at the registration desk is a great representative of this business. She is always super friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. We try to look to her for our booking needs. But recently, Elizabeth, Tammy, Ryan also treated us like we were family. Mark has been a smiling and helpful fixture for years helping with our luggage. Susan at the coffee spot is super friendly and down to earth. There have been many new faces due to Covid, but the feel remains the same. Katie's Coffee shop has outstanding food at a reasonable price (I do miss the navy bean and ham soup from pre Covid though). But the gem of this place is CVI Steakhouse. You literally will not have better food anywhere. I've had many a Filet mignon, but none better than CVI, and the scalloped potatoes are to die for. We look forward to our next stay at Carson Valley Inn and Casino. Always a fun time. Thanks to all the staff I left out. Great place to stay!! Very clean rooms, and a very attentive staff. My family and I really enjoyed our time there. The restaurants are really good! At Katies kitchen, the country fried steak and the giant ham and eggs were the best! At the steakhouse, the prime rib and the new york strip were really good! In the casino, the service again was top notch. The bartenders and servers were courteous and quick to serve you. The true gem was the poker room. Whatever game was going, there was usually a good group of regular players that were friendly and not territorial. They would engage in friendly conversation, whether it be about poker or casual chatter. I could not end this review without mentioning KAREN from the poker room. She remembered everyones name, and kept the games going at a good pace. Her attitude and demeanor were truly an example of how a dealer should be! read more

Great place! Have stayed once, visited a couple times now. Also eaten several times at the family restaurant in the inn! Well prepared and tasty food, great prices, and good customer service keep bringing me back! This time, staying in the main inn, got to experience the rooms. Good size, nice bed linens and such. They've clearly been updating the facility over time as it had a nice mix of modern touches, and just enough unfinished to show the age of the building and such without negatively affecting the experience! You can see that it's been around for years, but you can also see that it's been well maintained! My one complaint? There was a surprising lack of activities for my under-21s to do, but I'm not sure if I missed it, or if it really wasn't there, so I won't mark it down for that! Doesn't hurt that I've come out ahead at the machines every visit either! read more

The Carson Valley Inn honestly deserves 5 Stars. The 2 Stars is simply to air a complaint against their steak house. The food is excellent as well as the staff (except the manager) and the prices are most reasonable. We have a Friday night dinner group, it was started by a friend who wanted to enjoy a dinner after a long work week with her husband and friends. There are 8 people in the group, we always call ahead to the chosen restaurant for reservations or just a heads up. The time is between 5:00PM and 5:30 PM, early dinner before the crowds. The group has two couples and 4 singles, we ask for separate checks before or as we are seated, no last minute surprises for the staff. We have been going out for the Friday dinners for years, this time as we were seated we were told the policy is a maximum of two checks. What a surprise after having dinner there probably every month to six weeks. I went over to speak to the manager and he insisted that the policy is 2 checks, so we decided to leave. Amazingly, an instant exception was made. Dinner for eight, whether at one table or four tables should not be rocket science. If the server takes a couple more minutes for the checks, it allows a few more enjoyable minutes with friends. Perhaps we should have four tables and yell between them to accommodate the managers policy, Ridiculous ! read more

Simply put, my favorite casino in the upper portion of Nevada! I have been there many many times, and I can assure you that the odds there are quite good in terms of the casino. One night I won two jackpots (about $1000 each) and so did my date win a $895 jackpot... we were there in a free room which is what happens when you attend the casino from time to time and spend a bit of time in the casino, which has (of course) proper free cocktails. There is an amazing steakhouse in the casino as well as a very nice casual restaurant (both reasonably priced) both of which you can get food gratis on points or free from the coupons you get in the mail if you sign up for their "Inn Club" card... which is free. They have a beautiful swimming pool (in the shape of Nevada) a workout room, and two hot tubs as well). Great odds, great food, and great amenities... what's not to love!? That casino rocks and has excellent food and the rooms are SO NICE and reasonably priced (free if you get there from time to time and are a cardholder)... I just can't say enough!! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! read more

Stayed here with a friend when we went to Candy Dance, check in service good, rooms nice and good sized. We stopped at the bar to have a drink and play e-poker, found it a bit off-putting when bartender informed me, that if I wanted a free drink I needed to play more than a dollar, that ten would work (I hadn't asked for a free drink!).
