Basically our room was two rooms that have been converted into a suite that has a kitchen, little dining island, living room, and a separate bedroom and bathroom. It has two doors to enter, so a little weird but honestly, super practical. The rooms were very quiet and I couldn't hear any noise from any neighbors. The shower was great and the water stayed super hot through both of our showers. The room was spacious and clean (though the floor could have been swept/mopped better imo). The first night we were there, someone got sick in the parking lot. I called the operator and explained the situation and asked if they had anyone to clean it up as it wasn't exactly what anyone wants to see and to my surprise they immediately sent someone out who was able to clean up that spot! Thank you!! The casino is small, but had some good games. Overall, I'd stay here again.

Rooms were great - temperature controlled well, very clean and modern looking. Only negatives were housekeeping knocked twice to clean our room on our check-out day, and gave a lil sass when we weren't ready. And access from hotel room to street/walkable restaurants (which there were plenty!) was tough. There was no back entrance so it was a good 5 min walk to leave the building. I will definitely come back though, it had everything I needed! And the slots treated me well :))

I saw a couple but surprisingly didn't hear any dogs at all. (I was on the 2nd floor.) 2) Rooms are clean and tidy overall, and beds are comfortable, with lots of pillows. Housekeeping tried to clean my room after the first night (had my "Do Not Disturb" on the door) - no further attempts will be made if you have that sign on your door in the early morning and don't ask for cleaning/tidying later. (They put a little card under your door to remind you of this.) 3) Breakfast is served daily, broad range of hours, with hot options like eggs, omelets, potatoes, biscuits w/ sausage gravy, and meat choices - sausage, turkey sausage, and/or bacon (REAL bacon, not microwaved kind, and was perfectly cooked). I enjoyed the cinnamon roll-type pastries daily. They also have a pancake machine, juice, etc. 4) Again, this is a family-friendly hotel, taper your expectations. Kids run down halls and slam doors, babies cry, TVs are on at random times (audible through walls), and you can hear everything going on in the parking lot. It wasn't a quiet stay. Although the GM Perry (?) and other staff really care and try to please everyone, including room switching, realistically there's nothing they can do about these things outside of their control. (P.S. I have three kids and have never allowed running down hotel hallways or slamming doors - to those that might say "kids will be kids.") Would I stay here again? Probably, on the third floor lol. It has plenty of potential, hence my 4-star review. The GM and staff genuinely want guests to have a pleasant stay. I just happened to experience all of #4 above, so it was a pretty exhausting business trip.

ALL of the stairwells are boarded up and red marker tagged due to crumbling balconies. That's NOT my opinion, it's a safety violation cited by the county. The closed pool is a botanical experiment. At the front desk: NO Wi-Fi. NO Coffee. NO Breakfast. Walking over to the utility room, you will discover that the ice maker, washer and dryer have been disconnected for several years. There's no vending machine. Around the complex, you'll see miscellaneous furniture, boxes, and hotel supplies stacked in various places. It looks like sloppy staging for an upcoming liquidation auction. I get the impression that deferred maintenance is the standard. What do you get out of staying here? A bed. A shower with good water pressure. A working refrigerator and a microwave. A noisy AC/space heater that makes a high pitch whine from a bearing as it cycles up and down while heating and cooling the room. There was an ice bucket set neatly with cups, but, it's a meaningless detail with the lack of an ice maker. That's it. It is useful to know that there is a Dollar Tree conveniently nearby in the Ironwood shopping center adjacent to the hotel. With the lack of amenities at the "Quality" Inn, you might need to make a visit during your stop over. My husband and I had dinner at the chinese restaurant next door (Louie's Mandarin Gourmet-I recommend-Really good!). We had a conversation with the server. She mentioned that the hotel was closed by the health department for 6 weeks, then reopened in late March. She didn't know why. We agreed that maybe the place should be condemned due to the balconies. After the meal, I asked for some ice to take back to the room, and she was able to help me out. We were grateful. Other things to know about this place: When I checked in, I was advised that there was NO housekeeping because the maids quit. I see. Maybe I'll buy that story. Maybe I won't. IF I wanted to extend my stay, it was advised to let them know EARLY in the morning. The front desk is only open for 3 pm check in and same staff (two people) cleans rooms in the morning. I got the impression, that the management really hoped you would believe their excuse that there's temporary maintenance issues even though everything looks like it has been this way for several years. When we left, I noticed that a building inspection report was taped to the front desk door. Thankfully, I only needed the place for one night. I've stayed at better Choice Hotel properties. This location reflects poorly on the brand. I wouldn't be surprised if the next time I go through Minden, this place might be shuttered.

And from the Deck, the expansive view of the Carson Valley is stunning and soothing. Every time I come up, there's the latest talk about folks trying to make Genoa a "Destination". The area certainly seems to do nice Wedding business, and I particularly enjoy hanging out at the Genoa Bar. There are also a few nice places to eat such as La Ferme. Past that, it's my sense that this particular marketing plan isn't working as well as it should. David Walley's Resort recently went through a management change during an interesting "quiet" period and the relatively recent "Genoa Square" development is only left with the Dancing Deer and a reopened Genoa Country Inn. The Genoa Coffee & Candy Company was the latest closure, with the rumour that the landlord forced them out due to complaints of coffee odors (?) wafting through the hotel rooms. Oy. The Genoa Country Inn has 11 rooms and is a nice place with wi-fi and the usual other amenities (including view). It's an easy walk to anywhere within the Genoa Town Site, and if you just want peace and quiet, this place may be a good choice for you. However, if you want a little "excitement", South Lake Tahoe is a winding drive over the Kingsbury Grade, and greater Carson City or the "Twin Cities" of Minden and Gardnerville are all easy rides. Just watch the occasional speed trap on Jacks Valley Road.

My husband and I were surprised at the size of the room when we walked in; it was huge! There's a large bathroom area, and tons of room around the bed and by the mini fridge and coffee station. There's also a nice table and chairs, a modest TV, and a terrific balcony with an outstanding view. Our bathroom, as well as the bedroom (and everything else), was very clean. Everything works great in the room also, and we had no complaints, except maybe that the bed was a little uncomfortable. My husband had trouble sleeping but I can sleep on pretty much anything pretty happily. I'll be sad when 11 o'clock rolls around and we check out. There were some weird things happening in our unit during our stay. The fire alarm went off at 4:20 am one of the mornings- completely woke us up from a dead sleep. We didn't see people evacuating or hear any announcements. Apparently it wasn't the whole building/ not sure exactly what happened. We talked with some ladies in the hot springs who were a floor above us- they never hear the alarm. The jacuzzi in our room wouldn't turn on jets when I tried it. This was during a thunderstorm-so the hot springs were out of the question. The front desk was caring and offered to send maintenance- but I had already added my essential oils and soak mixture- so I just needed to soak at that point. I'm sure they have resolved these issues after we checked out. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the room- as well as the large deck for sunrise, sunset, and watching the stars and clouds. Plenty of parking in the lot The hot springs were cleaner in the mornings- so not sure if that happens 1x a day, We went in the first night- but lots of debris in the tubs Cleaner next morning. We also had red about different temperatures on the different hot spring pools/ did not find a difference in temperature Also, the jets are not turned on for the hot springs. Apparently this happened years ago. There is a morning water aerobics class Monday and Wednesday at 8. This seems to be popular. We enjoyed eating at the restaurant on the property the first night. We had to sit in the bar area due to a large party booking the whole dining room- this was one of the best meals we had while in the area- just wish they were open more days. They are closed Monday and Tuesday. Easy checkout- we were able to do it from our phone and leave our wristbands in the room

We've had several more issues with her and it's clear by how everyone talks about her that we're not the only ones. Other then HER. This place is okay for emergency's I guess. The owner is nice! But like the other reviewers said.. he doesn't seem to do anything about her. What blows my mind tho is that CUSTOMERS are what KEEPS you in business. So does their word of mouth from loyal patrons and good reviews! You would think he would do something about her if customer after customer have problems with literally JUST HER, and not the place! I would recommend staying here if you need a place. Just be prepared to PAY to be treated like shit by the manager and clean your own things as they do not do any housekeeping here.
