The wrong fuel was delivered and it took customer service 2 days to correct the problem resulting in 2 days of lost wages.

Kevin , got hear when he said he would, and filled the tank. What really nice was Kevin's attitude and overall great personality, it made the delivery enjoyable. I kinda wanted to hang out and visit with him even more, but a working soul has things to do. Also Kevin stopped the fill of the tank so I could measure and recalibrate my dip stick. I was super bummed when the fella that was my oil furnace repair guy retired, fine he was his late sixties... I guess he can retire. But what's a gal suppose to do when she has an oil furnace older than herself? I am no spring chicken mind ya! I certainly kissed a couple fools and finally landed on Carson! Oh what Prince and Princesses they are! Prompt service and emergency repairs! They are affordable and it doesn't feel like you are getting worked over. They have bailed me out twice now on super cold days when my beast called it quits on me. Their workers are clean, considerate and fast workers. Thanks for keeping us warm! read more

Incredibly poor service. Driver apparently "Could not get the cap off" the tank and left. This is despite getting regular deliveries in the season from First Call without issue.. My wife was at home and they didn't even try to go to the door and explain the situation, nor did I get a call while they were on site. Mind you, this is before a weekend of very low temperatures. Then they wait til the end of the day when they are stopping deliveries to call and explain the situation. Unbelievable bad service. Now we'll be without oil, and they made no effort to try and make things right. They then had the audacity to tell me they could send a technician out to look at the cap. The soonest they could get a delivery re-scheduled was next Thursday Just stick with First Call, a company that knows what they're doing. They promised delivery on Monday, and even will try to make room sooner to get out here. UPATE: I was at work when I got their call super late in the day. Once I got home I tried opening the cap myself, by hand. I was able to get it open. What an unbelievably experience. Just unbelievable. read more

We scheduled home delivery early am so we could turn our furnace off and let the new oil settle to avoid previous problems with carbon blowing out our chimney. Carbon particles have previously made a real clean up mess for us. We are a top rated 37 year long customer of Carson. Service and oil delivery have been great. But this time the driver never showed or else refused to deliver because he supposedly could not find our obvious filler pipe. He texted 20 minutes before and said he was coming but it was after 1:00 pm and we had been waiting since 7:00 am that day. We care for our very young grandkids and need the heat on then. I don't think he ever showed up or else did not get out of the truck as our oil filler pipe is obvious and easily accessible. First time in 37 years and he is the only one who screwed up. His name is Jeff so stay away from him. The regular delivery driver, Ken I think is his name, came the next day and he was great. He took a picture of how easy it is finding the filler and how easy it is to pull the hose to it. Thanks for him. Carson is not well served by having Jeff as a driver. We don't want him again as he is not reliable. Otherwise, Carson is great and that is why we continue with their service. Greg Miner read more

We just bought a cabin at Mt. Hood and the gas stove in it is the main source of heat! It went out yesterday and none of the repairmen at any companies could come fix it for approximately 1 1/2 months! Needless to say after coming all the way up here we had to go back home or freeze overnight!! I called Carson and they had a repairman out to our cabin next day and in the middle of January! Within 1 hour problem fixed & serviced and we are slowly getting our cabin up to a toasty temperature and can actually stay now! Thank you thank you Carson! You are the best and you will be the company we call when the next problem arises with our gas stove. read more

Previously have liked this company but recently have had the worse service imaginable. One week ago we returned from a vacation ( feb) and noted oil was low, called carson on monday and was assured oil would be delivered the next day. All week temperatures were in the 20's and much to my surprise we had no heat Sunday night. House was down to a chilly 50 degrees this am. Called Carson and left a message, no return call by 10 so I called them. There had been some sort of mix up which I did not fully understand but mistakes happen. I was assured that when I got home from work tonight there would be oil and I would have heat for the night. Yet no oil, no heat and it is very very cold. Now of course they are closed. We recently moved into a new home, and for the first time are reliant on oil to power our tank. Well, guess who waited too long before scheduling a fill? Fortunately for us, Carson was incredibly helpful in setting up a quick refill. More impressive, they sent a truck out in a foot of snow today to come service our tank. Carson is not what they used to be. I have been a loyal Portland customer for OVER TWENTY YEARS. And today I said goodbye because loyalty means nothing to them. I knew all the service tech's by name, kept detailed notes, knew the scheduler, the billing department person. They felt like a family to me. I bought oil from them when I first bought my house, I decommissioned my oil tank through them, I bought a top of the line brand new gas furnace and A/C from them. Did regular servicing with them. But this week a woman named 'Carson', a new hire, called me to follow up on a service tech visit I had. She was slightly rude, somewhat accusatory, inarticulate, and seemed in way over her head. Not typical of their previous customer service at all! It only got worse though, as management insisted on charging me $109 for a service call that wasn't needed (even the service tech alluded to that over the phone with me). So today they lost me and all my future business -- over a measly $109. Goodbye 'ol friend. read more

Carson Oil stole our money. I was told by at least three employees of Sunset Heating to get rid of Carson Oil as they are thieves. I aked why? I was told they care nothing about the homeowner and cater to industrial sites. I was told they had been know to leave an invoice and NO fuel. I thought this to sound a bit exaggerated. I then had decided to switch companies. I thought I had canceled my service but since it was in my brother's name it hadn't gone through. Well they brought me one final load. It was not the usual driver as they indicated it would be. The one we had for years. The driver looked like an old derelict and his 19 year old trainee. I thought they were strange the way they kept looking at my window. After they left they went down the dead end road and sat there for at least 5 full minutes. I thought it a bit odd. Well! I had measured my oil only a couple of weeks earlier. I had 175 gallons. I have new Lenox efficient furnace. I figure I had to have at least 125-135 gallons left when they came. They claimed they put 548 galllons of oil in my 550 gallon tank. That is impossible. I measured after and it was not over either. Long story short. CARSON OIL STOLE$400-$500 FROM US AND ARE THIEVES! We now use Marc Nelson Oil who does cater to the homeowner. read more

My commercial tenant's gas furnace started making an unusual amount of racket when she started it up recently when the weather cooled off. I called Carson Oil, which had done a good job installing a furnace for a family member. The HVAC technician arrived, took a quick look at the unit said it was working just fine, but needed a tune-up. I paid about $70 for that service. He also said the tune-up couldn't be done on the spot, even at an extra charge; a separate appointment would have to be made for this additional service. The next time my tenant tried to start the furnace, it wouldn't turn on. The HVAC tech came back and found that the pilot light was out. This caused me to wonder if he somehow turned it off during his visit, or if it was just a coincidence that it turned itself off for the first time in many years.... The tech relit the pilot light on, but no--he couldn't take the time to perform the tune up then--my tenant would have to wait a few more days and get that done at the previously scheduled tune up appointment. The Carson tech was a complete no-show for the tune up appointment. He didn't even bother to call to apologize or reschedule. When my property manager called Carson to see what was up with that, they said there must have been some kind of scheduling mix-up. I'm sure there are reliable, easy to work with furnace repair companies in the Portland area, but in my opinion, this isn't one of them. read more

You were going to notify Customers when?Long story after no calls back and one no show they delivered today...at a lower dollar a gallon rate? We will see when we get our bill. Our air conditioner stopped working during this latest heat wave - Carson had technicians out in a day (we got their name from another company that could not come out). Polite, timely, kind (we had filters that should have been replaced - it was crazy hot and they explained what had happened, cleaned the system and reset the blower without making us feel terribly foolish...), professional. Super awesome company, always on time, phenomenal customer service. You know a company is worth their salt when things go south and they respond exactly how you hope they will. We recently had our oil tank filled and, due to the fact that it doesn't have a whistle stop, the tank got filled a little bit past full (this is a rarity and I certainly don't hold them accountable). This resulted in some oil leaking out of the tank. When my partner called them after hours, they immediately sent one of their technicians out, all the way from St Helens (far from where our house is). I can't remember his name but he was so sweet and pleasant and spent about two hours in our basement cleaning and monitoring what was going on. A few days later they sent another technician to do the final cleanup. Everyone we dealt with, in person and on the phone, was on it, responsive, and easy to work with. It's like a car insurance company- you don't know how good they are until you really need them. Highly recommended. read more

I had my oil tank filled, and they also filled up my basement! Someone was in the yard gardening the entire time and the Carson Oil representative did not even talk to him. When we called to report it, they were quick to send out some workers to clean up the standing oil -- of that I'm grateful. However, as soon as we called the main office to question about damages, the owner was very rude and stated that it was not their fault and that it had never happened before! Then, because we argued with him, he called back the cleaners, saying that he was doing us a huge favor. Now we have to completely tear down walls and haul out the damaged furniture and carpet. They were all quite friendly before they soaked our house in flammables, but as soon as they messed up they were completely rude and unhelpful, and accused us of tampering with our tank, which has been previously filled without issues! read more
