CASH ONLY! How there are still restaurants that survive without accepting credit cards, I don't know. But here we are. I made a quick run to an ATM around the corner. I lucked out at 11:30 am with no wait and immediate seating. I'd already looked over the menu so I was able to order when my waitress came by. About 15 minutes later, my "breadless Reuben" arrived. A great portion of very thinly sliced pastrami, topped with sauerkraut and swiss cheese that was nicely melted and quite delicious. The pickle on the side was crisp and tasty as was the small bowl of cole slaw. Thankfully, they have mustard packets because what's pastrami without mustard? My Mom and I stopped for lunch on a weekend, they were packed but the wait was minimal to grab a table. At first glance, if you're just driving by, you might not realize the gold mine that lies behind the older style deli windows. This place is an AUTHENTIC Jewish deli. I've been to delis in both Hollywood FL (a heavy Jewish population) and NY and neither places had a place like this. It's cash or check only lol so bring enough to get what you want. There is a smaller dine in area if you are looking to eat there during their limited hours. Ever single thing we ordered was incredible. The matzah ball soup was absolutely perfect on a chill day and with a bit of a sore throat. Not too salty and an absolutely perfect consistency. Both sandwiches were better than any other iteration I've found in the DFW area. The Rueben was the perfect combo of sauerkraut and corned beef. The bread was cut thin enough and not too toasted. The Rebecca was the recommendation of our waitress (who was delightful). The sandwich just melted in our mouth. The egg bread was incredible and the two meat combo was perfect savory/salty. We finished with the cappuccino ice cream pie. Not too sweet and a great combo of coffee and cream. I 100% plan to be back as I want to try the kosher hot dogs (with toppings) and some of the different desserts (the lemon bars look amazing) The staff was so pleasant and they even told us that it gets incredibly busy during the linchpin rush so keep that in mind when you plan your visit... but you MUST plan your visit soon! read more

Our first time here. We were looking for a good Rueben sandwich and found a great one! I had the salad plate which was tasty. The chicken, potato and macaroni salads were very good and all filled with lots of crispy fresh vegetables. There was a homey atmosphere with great service. So I really wanted to love this place, having just moved to N. Fort Worth area and craving good jewish deli food. The Good: Service was friendly and fast. Matzo Ball soup was delicious. Sour pickle was firm and big and tasty. Potato salad was nice, chilled, tasty. The Not so Good: Pastrami was dry. I mean really dry. There was no fat on it, and I did not request it sliced lean, so therefore all the goodness of pastrami just wasn't there. Very disappointing. And the sandwich wasn't piled high, like a NY deli does. They said the bread was Rye, but it had the texture of a white Italian bread, sliced too thin, very few caraway seeds, no firmness? The pic does it more justice than it deserves. I see why some reviews suggest toasting it... No Latkes or Knishes ?!? Take credit cards and add 5% to the bill to cover the cost if not paying cash. It's not 1928 anymore. smh. read more

On the global scale of delis, Carshon's is good. On the Fort Worth scale, it is epic! I have not been to Carshon's in years. Not since the early 90s (long before Yelp) when I lived on 6th Ave. Well the other day I was craving a corned beef on rye, and somehow Carshon's popped in my head. We had an errand to run in south Fort Worth, and we planned our trip to coincide with Carshon's hours. I'll confess to initially just wanting a corned beef on rye, but after eyeing the menu, went for the Reuben. It was good, probably the best I found in Fort Worth, but I wish the bread was cut a little bit thicker. Next time I'll just stick the the corned beef. I was surprised that beer and wine is offered. I don't remember that. If you haven't read it already, Carshon's does not take credit cards. Bottom line: As much as I liked it, I'm not going 5 stars on a first re-visit. PS. You have to try their sandwiches at least once, if you do you'll be back & you'll be mad to know that you have waited so long before trying them out. I'm guessing that Ft Worth doesn't have many delis so customers truly think this place is good, but as someone who has eaten at good delis, this place is far from it. I think 3 stars is generous! I like a good Reuben sandwich. So much so, that I've considered changing my name to Reuben. So when I stopped by Carshons for a delicious sandwich, I of course ordered the....Rachel. While I've never considered changing my name to Rachel, I'm tempted to after eating here. The Rachel is a great spin on a classic and includes a combination of turkey and corned beef. Of course, all the other important stuff is there too: toasted rye, sweet Russian dressing, melty Swiss. Instead of kraut, there's fresh Cole slaw, which adds a fresher crisp element. Based on the amount of people packing this place, my guess is that everything is good. It has the ambiance of your grandmother's sitting room, which is not necessarily bad. Most doilies would feel right at home here. Everything has a homemade feel and the wait staff is rushed but sweet. I hadn't been to Carshon's in years but was in the area. While they certainly do make a true NY deli sandwich, and it was delish, honestly, it wasn't quite as good as I remembered. My complaint is not with the food though. There were people all around the cashier desk when I walked in, so I did not see the "Cash/Check Only" sign. It didn't even cross my mind that, in 2025, in a society that is almost totally cashless, that a business would be conducted like it is solidly back in the 60's or 70's. I was stunned when I went to check out and the cashier suggested a CHECK when I handed her a credit card and then gasped as I told her I had no CASH. I haven't written a check in 10-15 years. I mean, seriously! In 2025?! I had to run down the street and pay a $2.85 ATM fee to get cash to pay a lunch tab. It shouldn't be that difficult to set up payment option via some form of plastic. Otherwise, the sandwich, while not knocking my socks off, was very good. But I would suggest when it comes to payment, they might consider entering the modern era. read more

Carshon's is a CASH ONLY restaurant. It is a small place with a small parking lot. It reminds me of a small deli with some table and chairs. We were directed to sit anywhere open. Lucky for us there were several tables free. It is a small menu, but we easily found a sandwich to try. We ordered the Rachel and the Ruben. The sandwiches come with a pickle and onions. I ordered a bag of chips to eat with my sandwich. We ordered a Pepsi and a Dr. Pepper. They came in a can. The service was very friendly and attentive. The sandwiches were delicious! The meat was so flavorful and plenty of it! The sauerkraut was very delicious. The rye bread was nicely grilled. Next time we might split a sandwich. We noticed the clientele was older and they were splitting sandwiches and sharing pie. We were barely able to finish the sandwiches, enduring up just eating the meat and leaving the bread. Being in Fort Worth for over 25 years and going to TCU just a stone's throw away, I do not know how I have only now just gone to Carshon's. This great little deli has been dishing out old world, deli classics for quite some time. My wife reminded me they only take cash and after a stop to the ATM, we journeyed to Carshon's. Their menu is fairly simple and what you would expect from an old school deli, most dishes revolve around some combination of corned beef, pastrami, roast beef, and sauerkraut. The Reuben caught my eye and at that moment I was greeted with the eternal question, corned beef or pastrami? Luckily the waitress noticed my quandary and recommended I could try both. That I did! The sandwich was a great combination of meat, cheese, and grilled bread. Perfect portion size and I loved both the pastrami and the corned beef.
