Came here with my husband and friends and we had a great time! One of our friends is a pilot and I wasn't sure if he would feel like he was at work or if he would enjoy it. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is very immersive and the time flys by (no pun intended). The theme is done well and very unique. I wish there were some more snack options, but I understand without a kitchen it can be difficult. I also liked that they had mocktails to choose from. The service is very attentive and excellent. Overall, our entire group had a great time here!
I went on their website on Monday, two weeks before I wanted to try Carry On. In my experience, that was the easiest way to get tickets. Carry On actually called me to confirm our "tickets," which I thought was really cute. The whole experience kind of started a couple of days before our actual "departure time." They also reminded us to park in the Renaissance Square parking garage under Wren & Wolf, and they were able to validate our parking for three hours. We had to go to Wren & Wolf first to pick up our Carry On tickets. We got there early, and they let us relax in their couch area while we waited for our departure time. The walk from the Renaissance Square parking garage to Wren & Wolf was easy. You just follow the signs, and the whole walk is inside the building, which was perfect because it was so hot outside. While we were waiting, we could order drinks and chill, just like being in an airport lounge. When it was time for departure, we walked outside the building, and Carry On was right around the corner. You won't miss it because you'll see the Carry On Air flight schedule above the gate door. Right on time, we were greeted by a friendly flight attendant. Once we walked into the cabin, it really felt like we were inside a first-class flight lounge. Our flight attendant served us drinks right after we sat down, and we also ordered more cocktails and snacks from their menu. The captain spoke to us over the speaker, just like on a real flight. As we took off, we could even feel the seats moving. Looking out the "window," we saw buildings, clouds surrounding us, and even experienced turbulence I'm not going to tell you too much because I don't want to ruin the experience. I'll let you try it for yourself. I think it's definitely worth giving it a try. At least for us, we loved it.
Surprise Father's Day gift to go on a "flight" from NY to Tokyo. This was such a cool experience. I'm an airplane junkie so going back in time in a vintage plane was awesome. The vibe is intimate and the staff was amazing. The food was good; my wagyu was cooked nicely but my wife's was a bit overdone. The peanuts pack some heat so they were a bit too spicy. This is a cool date night experience and you get wings, like the old days.
Carry On was a great experience for our bachelorette party (or any sort of special occasion, really)! We had a 7:30pm flight to Mexico City and arrived about 10 minutes early which ended up being perfect because there was already a line forming outside. You really feel the 70s vibes from the moment you step onto the "airplane". The team did an amazing job with the ambiance and you can tell a lot of thought was put into every aspect of the space. It's such a fun immersive experience. Server and bartenders were friendly and fun, and the vibes all around were just super happy. I loved the rolling martini cart that came around! The only reason I'm knocking a star is because when we booked (a party larger than 5) I emailed with the team there for our reservation. They mentioned the option to upgrade the reservation to a $100/person meal option which I declined. After we were seated small bites were passed around the plane. We noticed every table received it, so I truly thought it was part of the standard experience. It wasn't until the 3rd round of small bites went around that I realized we will probably be charged for the full service experience (which we were). Because this was a new experience for us, my suggestion would be to confirm the experiences with our table prior to passing around offerings. We aren't familiar with what to expect, so we didn't know it wasn't standard until it was too late. Otherwise, we had a great experience!
WOW. An elevated, 90-minute-long immersive cocktail experience worth every penny. In short, you either sign up on Sunday for a link to RSVP on Monday OR RSVP anytime before your event during the week, pending availability at that time. "First Class Seating" is $25 person for admission, a Welcome Cocktail, House-Made Wasabi Peanuts, and a sweet treat. "Captain's Club" is $100/person for admission, a Welcome cocktail, 2 craft cocktails of your choice and 4-course light bite menu featuring King Crab Dumplings, Mini Salmon Lox Bagel, Japanese A5 Wagyu Skewers, New York Style Cheesecake" Additional food/drinks are also available for purchase separately. There are table options to seat up to 2 or 4 people for $50 and $100, respectively. As I was in a party of 2, I cannot speak to if you must purchase a full table as a party of 1 or pay your individual fare but potentially be seated with another party of 1... My partner and I RSVP'd for a Thursday 7:30pm flight from NYC to Tokyo. Per our email, we were instructed to arrive about 15 minutes early to pick up our flight tickets from the downtown restaurant Wren & Wolf. Spoiler alert: Carry On is a speakeasy attached to the back of the restaurant. After picking up your ticket, you walk around the corner to the large orange "plane" door, which opened punctually at 7:30pm to start our experience. We gave our flight attendants (the staff was indeed wearing flight attendant uniforms) our tickets at the front desk, and were given free Carry On pins before being escorted to our table. Despite being a Thursday evening There were overhead announcements and even windows playing animations emulating a real flight experience from take-off to landing! The interior is gorgeous, from the furnishings to the lighting. Craftily, there are many mirrors inside to create the illusion of a larger space. The menu emulated an in-flight menu, with food and drinks based on the trip's theme! We ordered an additional drink each and an onion dip that were all creatively crafted and delicious! All in all, Carry On is the perfect date night or girl's night experience. While it might not be in most people's price range for a casual night out, it is definitely worth trying for a special occasion if possible. I would love to go back and am looking forward to the next destination's theme!
Had such a fun time here as we were visiting our friends who now live in Phoenix. We had tried to come to this bar a previous time, but reservations fill up fast. Be sure to sign up for there emails prior to wanting to go to secure your spot. The drinks were great and they definitely didn't skimp on the alcohol. We also received fun treats like a black and white cookie and nuts. This bar is definitely an experience and the staff commits to the theme!
This is a must go to place whether you are from Phoenix or just visiting the experience is well worth your time and money. Step into an airplane from the 1970'd and be taken care of by flight attendants and pilots. You receive a welcome cocktail and snacks for the basic ticket and for the first class ticket you get the welcome cocktail two additional cocktails and a a préfixe 4 course tiny dinner. The vibe is chill but their may be some " turbulence " on your journey so be prepared. This would make a fun date night or girls night.
Carry On is amazing! We have been here before but this time we came for the Michelin Star Mexico City tacos and they did not disappoint! The service is always amazing here and the drinks are amazing! We always make an effort to get different drinks and they are always all so dangerously good! It's models as free the top level of a 747 airliner and I think it hits it right on the nose. Very cool and classic ambiance to it. Hard spot to get reservations for but if you do get it, you won't regret it!
This was my second "flight" with Carry On and my first flight during the Carry On x Chilte collab. The interior of the space is uniquely decorated and truly moves you to an era of fun flights. I highly recommend dressing to the theme and embracing the experience. The attendants and servers are quick to assist - however, the space itself is quite noisy so bear with the team. Each collab is unique so if you see a "flight" that interests you, jump on their newsletter to get the registration link as soon as it launches.
OK, so I have to say the reservation process was a major turn off for me for the longest time, but it's well worth it! I'm not a huge fan of queues and drop times but I would 1000% do this again. I brought my boyfriend for his birthday and our flight was from NY to Tokyo. PDC nailed it again with this concept. You literally feel like you're on a flight and their drinks were so on point. Even their bathroom is amazing, lol. My boyfriend doesn't live in AZ but said this was easily the best speakeasy concept he has ever been to. 12/10 from us.
Finally, a location we have been trying to see but our sporadic trips to Arizona have made it hard until now. We stopped by Wren & Wolf to collect our boarding passes and sat down to relax in the lounge until we got closer to boarding time. We then walked around the building to the dimly lit entrance and waited behind the ropes. At exactly the boarding time, the captain opened the doors and greeted us. We walked by the check-in area, and our tickets were checked. The stewardesses then gave us a pair of wings. This flight was to Tokyo and the travel warning mentioned kaiju activities. Glancing into the seating area it was shaped like a luxury plane with windows and ample space to move around. At the back of the plane were seats wrapping around and the cabin was very beautifully decorated. Towards the front of the aircraft, there was a beautiful bar. The photos in the advertisements are not photoshopped the place is amazing. The stewardesses escorted us to our seats and they were very comfortable. Depending on group size you either get a small table for two or for 4. This reminded us of the movie Soul Plane lol. Kiki and Madie were our stewardesses on the flight and started us with a complimentary drink and some peanuts. As we were taking off you could see the plane taking off through the windows and you could feel vibrations on the floor as if the plane was rolling. Then once in the air they played a large selection of music. Keep an eye out the windows because you will see strange things like we spotted King Kong and then while in flight we saw Ghidorah fly by and I think I got a glimpse of Mothra, but was not sure. Kiki and Madie were amazing they kept the drinks flowing and we watched the captain make drinks because he was also the bartender. We then ran into turbulence and into a storm and spotted Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, and Ghidorah amidst the dark clouds and lightning. Then at this time the martini carts came around serving handcrafted martinis at your table side. After we got out of the dark clouds there was a tasty cookie and more drinks. The service was amazing. Kiki and Madie were Rockstars and were very efficient at their jobs. They provided light conversation and were knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. When we got close to Tokyo and were ready to land there was a last call and we could see Tokyo from the windows as we did our final approach. The whole experience was well worth it and each flight is different. We spoke to some other passengers who have been on other flights and they can't get enough of it. The captain's quarters section in the front of the plane served some The flight time was 90 minutes and there is a bathroom on the plane. There is a parking garage in the same building so you don't have to walk far. Thank you, Captain, and thank you Kiki and Madie, for this amazing evening.
What a fun and unique concept! When I first booked this experience, I thought 90 minutes might feel a little long, but the cabin crew kept everyone entertained the entire time. Between the drinks, light snacks, and Martini time, there was never a dull moment. The playlist was full of bangers and really added to the atmosphere. The welcome drink was just okay, but the rest of the cocktails we ordered were delicious. Overall, such a memorable experience and definitely worth trying!
This was such a cool experience! It was hard to find a time to go to Carry On. We had to put an email down to get notified when times came out for the following week. We then had to jump on a site when the notification was sent out so that we could select a time. By the time we could, the only thing left was a time at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. When you get to Carry On, you need to go to the front desk at Wren & Wolf around the corner. There, they give you your boarding pass with your information and table. Then, you wait in line by the Carry On door on the side. When it is time, someone dressed as a flight attendant came out to let us in and seat us. Since it was our first time, we got a free pin with the Carry On logo. The bar looks like an old airplane and has a mostly wood aesthetic. The light is low and there's some really cool lighting going on to set the mood. One of the coolest parts is that the windows are screens that show the city you're taking off from and then landing in. We tried the welcome cocktail and then a gin and tonic. The welcome cocktail was really tasty and I loved the gin and tonic. The bar does martini time when they bring out a cart to make dirty martinis. They were super good. Carry On is on the pricier side but I think it is worth experiencing once. read more
Very cool experience! I love a good theme. My friend had told me about this place & I was enticed - so I signed up for the notifications to know when to sign up for the waitlist. I clicked on the link at 10am exactly when it opened & still had to wait half an hour to get my turn to choose my reservation- only a handful of times were left available. A table for 3 is around $50 something & there are no refunds. They do call a couple of days before the reservation to confirm your party. On the night of, we decided to eat at Wren & Wolf (where you check in & get your "boarding pass" for Carry-on). The actual entrance is outside & around the corner. There were maybe a couple dozen people there total. Upon entering we got our boarding pass stamped & they gave us souvenir wing pins. The seating in the small aircraft themed bar was spacious & comfortable, service was great, drinks on point, & was just enough time to enjoy the experience. I liked how the plane windows move - as if you were flying & the seats vibrate a little, just like in a plane. The noise level wasn't too bad, we were able to chat without having to yell. They do go around with a martini cart to make custom drinks, but my fave that night was the Harvey Wallbanger. The reservation also came with a tequila & guava drink, which was also delicious. This is not a place you go to as your "spot", but more of a special occasion/date venue. read more

Loved the concept! Gorgeous design! Amazing food! We went for a date night and were seated at the mini 2 top table that we didn't like - too low and too far apart. But I want to try it again with a group of girlfriends. read more

This was such a fun experience! Highly recommend going for Christmas, I think it goes until December 24th. For a GNO we got the Captain's club that includes the small bites and 3 drinks. Definitely were appetizer size, but very good. Also included was a small tamale and "welcome drink". This was a spicy ginger drink, i liked it but if ginger isn't your thing you probably wouldn't. All of the servers we had were super friendly and entertaining, definitely gave the feeling of being on a plane in the 70's. If you only make one drink purchase, I HIGHLY recommend the Cane and Coffee martini. Tastes like an Andes mint. Non alcoholic, get the pomegranate martini. I can't comment on the lottery process to get the tickets since my friend did it but keep trying. Get here at least once, I can't wait to go back! read more
this is easily one of my new favorite speakeasies in the Phoenix area. There's a great selection of drinks and I love the on flight snacks. Obsessed with the airplane-like bathroom and all the little details. the turbulence and windows were a great touch. Staff was super friendly and attentive as well. read more
After three months of refreshing the website like I was trying to snag Beyoncé tickets, I finally secured my boarding pass to Carry On--and let me tell you, it was worth every second of the wait and all the emotional damage from near-misses. From the moment I stepped into the jetway (yes, they have a jetway), it was clear this wasn't your average cocktail lounge. It's like if Pan Am and Wes Anderson had a baby, and that baby grew up to mix a killer Old Fashioned at 30,000 feet. The "flight attendants" (read: bartenders in glorious vintage uniforms) escorted us to our oversized airplane seats--real seats, not the sad excuses we're used to in coach--and we were handed menus that looked suspiciously like safety cards. Spoiler: nothing about this experience was safe. The drinks? Dangerously good. The legroom? A miracle. The ambiance? Pure, retro-turbulence-free bliss. You stare out the faux plane window as clouds drift by and you sip a cocktail named "Ground Delay" that tastes like what I imagine first class in the '70s felt like--boozy, smooth, and a little too fun. Carry On is more than a bar. It's a high-concept, highball-fueled fever dream where nobody loses their luggage, and the only thing crashing is your ability to limit yourself to one drink. read more

Prepare for takeoff as you journey to Mexico City with this very unique speakeasy experience. Carry on gives first class service from ticketing to landing. The aesthetic is sleek and sexy. The 'flight attendants' were personable and made the experience that more fun and enjoyable! Food service was not offered at the time, but now you can sign up for an elite dining experience which I can't wait to try. I only wish they offered your reservation fee to count towards the bill, but it's all good. The drinks hit and it's all worth it. Tickets drop every Monday! What are you waiting for ;) read more

Such an amazing experience!! The staff is incredible and so quick at serving folks. It is a small space, but if you've been to other speakeasies in PHX or Scottsdale then it's exactly what you'd expect for space. The welcome drink was smooth and delicious, and the tickets plus pins were such an awesome touch! Yes, you do pay $46 for 2 people to experience Carry On, but with the tix, pins, welcome drinks and snacks it's quite worth it! The whole flight was awesome and drinks were strong and delicious. It's not a cheap date night, but it's a night you won't forget! read more

This was a fun little experience/adventure. If you're able to get a ticketed reservation during the Monday ticket drop, I would go ahead and try as not only our seats limited but also days and times. With that, let me go over a few things with you. Parking: I'm not quite sure we're parking is as we parked near a different hotel so I would recommend using public transportation, Uber or another lot. Dress: I was told that as long as you're dressed, you're fine. Some people dress the part in 70s garb which is really cool. Others were dressed for the night or dinner. I was traveling and I had jeans and a cashmere sweater on which was perfectly acceptable. Check in: You will check in at Wren and Wolf and then you will walk around the building and queue up at the stanchions until the doors open. If you have mobility challenges or can't stand, you may want to bring some assistive devices because it can be a little daunting. That was not my issue, but I'm giving you all the details here. Entrance: Once the doors open, you are warmly greeted by the staff who are already in "character" from pilot to flight attendant they welcome you aboard your 747 flight from San Francisco to Mexico. They will double check your boarding pass and you will take a little set of metal wings, which are pretty cool. Inside: No detail was spared inside the small airplane cabin that seats roughly 30+ people. Towards the back is the actual bar. It's simulated to look dislike a classic 747 lounge. Very detailed and upscale with elegant wood, paneling, and large windows that display the video screen of your flight. Music is also playing. The flight attendants are dressed in 70s style flight attendant Dresses, which are super cool. Everyone that we encountered was professional and nice. They walked us through the menu and suggested a couple items. Your ticket booking includes a welcome drink and a few snacks. There is no actual food here so either eat before you come or after. We were served a fruity sparkling cocktail along with some water. After the pre-departure announcements, the flight attendants came around to take a drink order. There is a menu on your table that includes the specialty cocktails as well as beer and wine, which don't seem to be as promoted as the specialty cocktails. Nonalcoholic Cocktails are also available which start at $12. The specialty ones are around $18. There are a few wine and beer selections as well. My suggestion is if you do not want the first round of cocktails are still enjoying you're welcome drink. I would wait until the martini cart comes out. A martini card is a whole other experience. Midway through the flight to hand you a tiny little card with the menu options all the way from a classic martini to a filthy martini we opted not to get that but would definitely try it next time. We enjoyed the welcome cocktail and then opted to have a nonalcoholic drink, which was interesting at best. All of the alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks have that very crafty trendy vibe sometimes I just wish they would stick to basic drinks. Although there were some classic drinks such as the pink squirrel and an old-fashioned, it just seemed to have a little bit of a twist to it. Some people really enjoyed the drinks. We overheard some guests saying that they were just OK or not what they expected again I would suggest if you're unsure maybe stick to the wine and beer and then wait for the martini cart. Towards the end of the experience, they came around with some chocolate shortbread cookies which were a nice way to finish the experience. We settled the bill at the table. I would definitely do this experience again perhaps a different destination, such as Tahiti L O L. I think the ticket booking charge based on number per table is pretty reasonable for this type of experience which is much elevated experience then let's say a pop-up, etc.. I hope they continue to provide this experience. read more

This is a fantastic addition to the Valley's burgeoning "experiential" cocktail scene. It's cleverly designed and implemented in a way that should keep it fresh for years to come. The basic premise of the 90 min experience is that you are in the upper deck bar of a 747 in the 1970's. Our particular "flight" was from SFO to Mexico City. All of uniforms, swag and menus are true to the 70'd vibe. Announcements are made during the flight that are humorous and helpful plus it tells you when the 90 minutes are over. Included is a petite welcome cocktail and a bowl with two kinds of nuts. Then you order ala carte. The drinks are familiar period drinks with a spin. All we had were well crafted and just plain delicious. Towards the end of the flight, the martini trolley comes around and they make martinis to order. Lots of fun! It's a fun and clever experience... one not to be missed if you're in downtown Phoenix. read more

The Carry on experience was pretty good. It was much, much smaller than I expected especially since it says it's the inside of a plane. It only has 8 2 person tables and 3 bench seats that can hold 6 and maybe squeeze 8. Not what I had thought at all. It is an interesting experience but the hype is all that just hype. When you enter the lottery and it says wait 45min and there are hundreds of people waiting, I also say that is not accurate they are just trying to create a panic....fun but not worth the time I spent to try to get into it. Would not go back. read more

Right, my buddy and I had a great time. We decided to dress in 70's fashion which I felt added to the vibe. We went for the captains package with small plates. Food was top notch. Wow, this was a fun trip. Flight attendants were great. Drinks were amazing. On the menu, spicy peanuts and cookies. This is definitely a fun and unique cocktail bar! The interior is beautifully designed, though it's smaller than I initially expected. After visiting, I can understand why getting tickets is a bit of a challenge. The overall experience is fantastic. The space is thoughtfully designed with clear attention to detail--it's simply gorgeous to look at. Service was quicker than at other 90-minute bars, and the staff was very friendly. If you're not enjoying a drink, they'll be happy to swap it for something else. A few areas for improvement would be the "view" outside the plane. The 3D renderings are low-quality, and all the windows show the same video. On the bright side, the "storm" halfway through the flight was a great touch. The turbulence you feel in your seat adds to the fun! The cocktails are good, but not as exceptional as I had hoped. I do worry this place might be a bit too gimmicky for repeat visits. However, I'd still take a friend visiting town--it's got a quirky charm, and with only 10 or so tables, I doubt they'll ever run out of people looking for a unique experience. Overall, definitely give it a try! Just be prepared for a pricey experience (though, to be fair, all cocktail bars are). Allow yourself to embrace the fun and let the experience carry you away. read more

This was the most incredible bar I have ever been to. The attention to detail from the decor, to the food, to the atmosphere itself, really makes this a one of a kind bar. I had ordered the pink squirrel drink and was a bit cautious based on the description. However, after trying the drink, I can safely say it was one of the best drinks I have had. I understand why the reservations are so hard to get, this place is incredible and I will definitely be returning! read more

AMAZING. Such a great experience and ingenious concept. Everything was perfection from take off to landing. I've been to Century Grand and this for sure beats those immersive experiences by a mile (high). They have a good selection of cocktails, yet it's not overwhelming. They have classic cocktails, cocktails with a country of origin inspired twist depending on where the flight will be going, along with mocktail options and some beer and wine. They even have a hand crafted martini cart that comes down the aisles along with some complimentary snacks during your flight. I highly recommended checking out Carry On for a special occasion or just for fun. read more

Is there free parking?
Yes. You can find free parking downtown, but you'll have to walk a bit. The bar itself does not have parking.
Are there non-alcoholic cocktail offerings?
Yes, they do have a few non-alcoholic drinks available.
Do they sell food? If not, is there a good place near by for food?
No they don't unless you get the "captains club" but then they just bring you a few "small bites" - you don't get to choose the food. Tons of places nearby, specifically Wren and Wolf but search Cityscape dining and you'll see other places.
The money you place down for reservations does it go towards your drink bill like the same at wren and wolf?
