Just when I think Carpinteria can't get any better than it already is I stumble upon this hidden gem. Hands down, new favorite place to recommend in town for anything garden or hardware wise. I have been on the lookout lately for low light indoor hanging plants, succulents, and unique herbs. Within 5 minutes of being at Carp Valley Lumber I found all of the above and more. When you walk into the parking lot and turn right to the outdoor garden area they have rows upon rows of gorgeous, healthy plant varieties. I spent probably 45 minutes browsing the "Succulent Salads" collections just to see all the different colors and varieties that there are in the world. I was extremely impressed with the widespread options with such a reasonable price. They even had lush hanging succulents placed in perfect lighting and not half dead like a lot of shops have them. The gal working answered all my herb questions, helped me find pots, checked the back-stock for me, and held my items as I went to my meeting. Very kind and genuine customer service with a lot of helpful knowledge on the plants they carry. The outdoor nursery area also carries garden decor, chairs, fire-pits, and things like such. They have plenty of plant food supply, pesticides, pots, bird feeders, fertilizers and other gardening necessities inside their little hut, as well. Make sure to check out the front right corner where all the air plants and hanging varieties are - it's a beautiful "jungalow" set up! I came for a succulent and left with three more plants and some pots. I even stepped inside the hardware store and bought a $0.98 ceiling hook (right as the power went out). Otherwise I would have shopped longer. I'm very happy with all my purchases, their prices, the parking lot, and the kind, knowledgable customer service. Definitely make sure to give this place a try if you've never been by. I mean how can you pass up a place that sells a Mint Chocolate herb plant that literally smells like Christmas in a plant?

This is a good hardware store and I would say very good for what is available here in carpinteria. There isn't really that much available as in it's a very small town city or village or whatever you want to call it. The guy in the paint shop gave me a can opener for the paint and I really appreciate it. Answered seven out of seven of my questions and was nice about it. That's more than you can say for Home Depot. Home Depot is a hole in my butt

Rude, unhelpful staff. I haven't been back for a few years after a number of obnoxious encounters so perhaps things have improved.

If I want to deal with rude and unhelpful people I'll just drive to Lowes. At least I won't be overpaying.

Angels Antiques has been a wonderful Carp hidden gem for years on end. I've had friends buy and…read morerestore their favorite surf boards from this shop, find bikes, old war souvenirs, nifty planters, and handmade home decor items. Because of it's literal hidden appearance I tend to forget it's event there, and just recently learned it will actually be closing down shop in the near future. In the meantime, make sure to head over and check out the incredible collection of newly discounted one-of-a-kind items they have in stock and are liquidating for the business closing sale. I'm big on succulent gardens, old suitcases, and old fashioned lawn decor and this place had it all for me on a newly college graduate budget. I could spend hours (and so much money) at Angels Antiques. Really... It's dangerous. Make sure to check it out before it's too late and send a loving goodbye to the special owner who made this amazing antique shop more unique and affordable than any other.

I love the selection at this store. This is my second visit. I drove from LA and arrived late…read moreafternoon. I entered the store and wasn't greeted. I started shopping as it was late in the day...I had no idea what time they were closing but they were open when I got there. The couple burst into a fight while I was in the store. Shouting at each other and acting like they were on judge Judy. I felt like my parents were fighting. It was uncomfortable and awkward so I walked to the back to give them room to feud...the store is giant and has lots of alcoves and areas. Great stuff! I then asked after they'd simmered down "is your other shop open for a bit?" I was responded to by a look up and down and a " ehhhh it's between opened and closed." Okkkkkk. Weird. I then asked continued shopping and asked "do you know what this is? " and the male owner said "can you move I want to bring stuff in" I didn't move, instead I asked the price....he paused and said 95. I moved out of his way and said "I do t know what's going on here here but the vibes are insane and terrible." "Yeah I know sorry about that" all I said was "yeah it's terrible" and I left. Drove 2 hours to shop here. I will never return. Get a divorce or don't work together maybe. You guys are wild!
