I don't even feel like the service was a one star! On Sunday I called to get a quote to clean my 1 bedroom carpet. Kevin was friendly saying he can do this on Wednesday night at 6 p.m., the quote will be $39.00 a room. He said I have to charge you $50 deposit. I thought that was strange trying to understand his biz practice. (possible RED FLAG) I ran from work to get to my place by 6 p.m. I waited and waited...it's 6:30 (RED FLAG). I called the number to find out their voicemail is full (another RED FLAG), I call their 1-800 number and left several messages. Finally a woman calls me back to say we don't set a specific time for service, we will be there from 6-8 p.m going from job to another job. I said I was informed a 6 p.m. appointment by Kevin---finally she believed me. A few minutes later, Kevin calls me to say I don't have you down for an appointment tonight. I said I just spoke to a woman and she confirmed my appt at 6-8. (another RED FLAG) It's 8:00, by now the cleaning guy is here and he looks my carpet. He said you have pretty bad carpet so it'll be $300. I said this is not what I was informed. He keeps repeating the $300 quote and $100 deposit. I said no, I paid $50 deposit and he's disagreeing with me (by the way, he informed me he just got out of bed to come here). I said this is all subjective on the cleaning charge so why don't you leave. He then starts to bargaining the quote to $250!! I said leave. I called Kevin to discuss this problem and he said he wants to talk first. He advised me I have lost my $50 deposit due to gas and labor charge on the quote. I was in full f**king rage!#%@! The technician will quote a number once they arrive at your place - this is AFTER YOU PAY A $50 DEPOSIT TO SECURE AN APPOINTMENT. So, you're already out of pocket some $$. #2 - The quote will not be based on the size of your rooms. When I asked why I was being charged $300 for a such a small amount of space, the technician said - it's the chemicals we use. **CALL OTHER COMPANIES: they will give you a price based on the size of the room you want cleaned. Learned that the hard way. #3 - YOU MIGHT GET CHEWED OUT. Those other reviewers, such as Sabrina K. (5/31/2022) and Ayesha A. (3/23/2021) did not lie. When I called Kevin to see if someone could come back out the following week to try (again) to get the odor of dog urine out of my NEW carpet, Kevin literally proceeded to tell me that the feedback I wrote (on Square, mind you, not on a public space like Yelp - until now) was stupid. "It's stupid that you would sit there and write a dossertation [sic] when you had buyers' remorse". No, I didn't have buyers remorse; I called the company specifically because I wanted to get rid of the smell of dog pee that was in my new carpet after I dog sat for a friend. I was told that the company could take care of the problem. The company did NOT take care of the problem, so I called back to see if they could redo the job - as they said they would when I called to make the appointment. Then I'm summarily and unprofessionally chewed out. I literally could not get a word in edgewise, after Kevin asked me what the problem was and I said I still smell the odor. How did I solve the problem? I called a carpet guy my family used years ago back in LA to ask what to do. Back then, that guy - Joe - fully, completely, and perfectly cleaned WHITE BOUCLE carpet that had been soiled by my elderly dog's incontinence. For my current problem, Joe said the carpet needed to be injected with odor kill so that it reached the pad and then properly steam cleaned. Guess what: Carpet Gigs doesn't do that, even though you can get carpet injections on Amazon. And because Joe lives in LA, I ended up paying the original carpet installation company to come and replace the carpet pad, and that took care of the problem. read more

As a customer, when you receive a service for something and you are unhappy with the service, it is within a reasonable expectation that when you communicate your dissatisfaction, especially to the business owner, that they will hear what you have to say and hopefully work out a solution to make both parties happy. Instead I was lectured at, yelled at, and brought to tears. In this almost 20 minute conversation, Kevin the business owner, cut me off so many times that I didn't even get a chance to tell him why I was dissatisfied with the cleaning because he was upset about what ended up to be a misunderstanding about the pricing. I was unhappy because I paid $650 for a rug (9 x 12) cleaning at my home and by the time the rug was dry there was still dust plumes coming out of the rug. While Kevin did offer to have his technician come back a second time, I felt extremely uncomfortable given the way that Kevin had spoken to me. To future customers, Carpet Gigs will provide timely service, but if you are unhappy with the service provided beware -- in Kevin's own words "I don't believe that the customer is always right". read more

I would give this company o stars if it was possible, this is the WORST Carpet company service in the ENTIRE world. On Feb 7 2021 around 6:30pm, I was scrolling through Facebook and came across a carpet cleaning post black owned. so, I decided to give the number listed a call not expecting anyone to answer because it was approaching 7pm on a Sunday. I just wanted the number in my phone so I wouldn't forget to call the next day. To my surprise someone picked up, first he started by giving me a quote of $39 a room, but in the same sentence said he couldn't give me a quote over the phone until he seen the condition of the carpet? Which seemed fair and confusing at the same time! I knew my carpet was not bad just a little spots like the entrance from the hard wood to the carpet were there is most traffic. My son and I are the only people living in the apartment ,there are areas in my sons room and Livingroom that has never been walked on due to the furniture and size of the rooms. So I expected it to be a average cleaning. I made an appointment for him to come the next day Monday Feb 8, 2021 between 4pm-6pm to clean two rooms. Kevin begin to call me the following day at around 1:30pm. I explained to him that I made the appointment late in the day because I had some errands such as: grocery store and ordering my son a new bed. I was pleasantly surprised how many times he contacted me that day. I though he was just being professional and trying to get some business maybe things were slow due to COVID19. He arrived after 4pm, he looks at both of the carpets now he says the cost will be $200. I was like wow that's a big jump from $39 a room. First sign I ignored I let him know that I was not paying that much. So he said he would do it for $160, I knew he was taking advantage of me because I am a single black mother living in low income housing. But I wanted the carpet cleaned before the next day because I had new furniture coming and I knew I was not going to be able to move the furniture by myself for the carpet to be cleaned. So I went on and agreed to the price (bad decision) he was done by 5:30ish. I went and sat in my car while he cleaned the carpet to give him space to do the job. He called me I came straight up. I was very surprised how fast he was done. I begin to see little spots that could have been cleaned much better, so I start pointing them out. He just kept saying once it dries it would look better. He left didn't try to go over the spots or anything. I opened all the windows and doors and had a fan running to let air in to help dry the carpet faster by 11pm that night the rugs were still soaking wet I put my foot on the carpet my socks were soaking wet!! I knew something was wrong then!! Even with it being cold and raining that day I left the windows and fans open and running until 1am the next morning. Feb. 9 Tuesday evening the floor was STILL WET, by this time I knew the rugs should have been dry. It takes 6-10hrs for a carpet to dry depending on the weather 24hrs tops. Feb 10 Wednesday morning I begin to smell a musty mildew smell the carpet was STILL damp. As the morning went on the the smell got even worst, the smell was coming from the carpet. The smell was so bad that it was coming out the door, the smell would smack me in the face before I could even put the key in the door that's how bad the smell was HORRIBLE! I contact the Carpet company spoke with a lady who apologized and said she would have Kevin reach out to me, he called me that day I told him about the smell coming from the carpet, he kept telling me to give it some time and let the rugs dry, I told him three days had already passed the rugs should of been dry!! The smell was unbearable and it was during the pandemic lockdown!! He needed to do something about this now! He stated he would send someone out to deodorize the carpets. Thursday Feb. 11, he sent someone out they sprayed some type of solution over the carpets. The Carpets dried literally 3hrs after they left the smell was worst then before. Due to the first carpet technician not drying the carpet properly leaving the carpets too wet caused water damage to the padding underneath the carpet causing (mildew) and a terrible indescribable smell. After many conversations he finally admitted that he caused this to happened but still did not offer a refund and once I demanded one he kept giving me the run around telling me to wait for the padding to dry and if the smell is still there by the end of the week he would give me a full refund this was on Feb. 13th. He knew he caused this he admitted to it but still didn't have the common decency to even give me my money back!!! Tuesday Feb. 16 I texted him letting him know the carpet still smelled he responded saying he would or send someone else on that Friday to see if the carpet still smelled and give me a full refund. I never heard from him ever again. I believe this company is deleting bad reviews because the Carpet Company SUCKS! read more
