I purchased and renovated my home at the end of 2019. COREtec flooring was purchased from Carpet Exchange and installed in the main living area and kitchen by my contractor. In 2013 the flooring began separating and some of the planks were no longer level. After contacting Laura Zane, store manager at Carpet Exchange on Abilene in Aurora, we started the process of determining why I was having problems with the flooring. After careful examination of the installed floor and surplus planks, it was determined that the materials used were defective. Laura was extremely helpful by submitting a claim for replacing the floor. I'm am happy to report, that through her efforts, my old floor was removed, the base floor was leveled, and a new floor was installed at no additional charge to me. read more

We purchased our new carpet & loved the color. They had the installers come out and put it in... all of the upstairs rooms, family room & stairs. It looked beautiful until it started rolling!! Why? Because the didn't put the strips/transitions back on!! They literally layed the carpet over the flooring into the bathrooms and kitchen!!! When I called for them to fix it as it was under warranty they wouldn't do it because of Covid. When I called again a couple of moths later as requested they said they would call back and give me a date & time!! It never happened, I call again and they say they won't do it as my warranty is up!!! Terrible... Terrible service and crappy installation!!! Go anywhere else but here!!!!! read more

I recently had to quickly install carpet on the 4th of July week with a few days notice. I went to this Carpet Exchange on Abilene in Aurora, and they were super helpful in just showing me the carpet options that were already in stock for the purpose of expediency. Furthermore, I found the one I liked and Laura Zane, Store Manager helped me reference a previous order for carpet 5 years ago and place the order for the new carpet. The issue came up when the installation date came up after I needed the installation to be completed. Per my request, she emailed some other folks that she knew of that sometimes do work on the side. The next day she called me to say she found someone and I would have it installed before the date I needed it. I can't remember the last time someone went above and beyond to help me accomplish a goal during a holiday week and was friendly and supportive of my endeavor. It turned out the installer needed more carpet (they thought) and I called Laura, and she amended the order and there weren't any hiccups or delays. I would absolutely recommend visiting Laura if you are in the market for floor coverings. Everything went great until install. I ordered carpet for my master bedroom/nook that is connected to the bedroom. They sold me 2 rolls (which I later found out is alway a mistake). The first roll went down great, the second roll had clearly laid on grease and was horribly stained, so could not be installed. We set up the second attempt for install for the following day. They brought a new piece (which should have been really close to the same thing). When they unrolled this piece, it has a cut in the center. Why the installers did not check at the warehouse, I could not tell you. They were unable to tell me the next install date. Then scheduled it for monday without telling me until later. I needed to reschedule for a weekend as I already took a day off work for this. I sent time talking to the store manager, asked if the whole thing could be replaced because each time they pull carpet color get further from the original. They agreed. The installers came the following saturday, removed all the carpet and replaced it. The days later the carpet started to pull up at the threshold. I called to have someone come out and fix this. They said the installers would call within 3 days. I got a text on Sunday which sounded like they would be there on Monday. Monday came and went and no one showed up. I Called the store again.... This went on for over a week. Finally the store told me it was my fault because the screws holding my threshold were too short. WTF??? the installers were here 3 times, installed 2 different carpets in and are now saying that my screws were too short??? And there aren't any screws holding in my threshold!! WTF???? So without even coming by to look at the problem they are saying it is my fault the carpet comes up after 3 days?? Why didn't they say something when they took measurements? When they were selling me the carpet? When they were at my house 3 times to install? And now they say they are only responsible for the carpet until the track? Not until where it folds under the threshold?? Seriously, What am I paying them for? So after a week of back a forth they finally get the installer back out. He fixed the issue in 10 min and just needed to restretch the carpet and pin it down. What should have taken 1 day pushed back my move by a week and ended up take just over 3 weeks. The installation I received from Carpet Exchange is unprofessional, sloppy, and unacceptable. While the carpet selection is solid, and I was able to find carpet for a reasonable price, I cannot get over the installation issues. The installation team hired for this job went into my PERSONAL belongings while installing carpet, drank my beer, opened and drank my almond milk, moved things from pantry to fridge...can you believe that? When you open your home to people to do work, of course you trust that they will not mess with your stuff. I'm glad I had kept my valuables out, as I do not trust that other stuff is not missing. In addition to taking MY THINGS, they knocked a recess light out of my ceiling, leaving it hanging by a wire, left staples all over the floor (which luckily I found with my hands and not my bare feet), and left sloppy edges around my stairs with the new carpet. Lastly, the installers took a POOP in my bathroom and left a mess everywhere. I get it, sometimes you have to use the bathroom when you're on the job...but come on. There were stains everywhere, and I had to have someone come into cleaning because I didn't even have the properly supplies to do it (new house, little stuff to deal with this). I just cannot get over the fact that someone would have the nerve to do this in someone's home. I have reached out to management, as I was told this was the best way to share my feedback. But upon my original email with full details of this, the only response was 'HOW ABOUT AN ORDER NUMBER'. Just like that. All caps, no pleasantries, nothing. How about an apology before you ask for my order number? Or could you look up my order number from my name and email? I cannot believe the service here. I was happy with our sales guy (Mathew), but I just spent $2200 to carpet, and at this point, no one has offered to make this right or anything. And while I like the carpet itself, I am horrified by the reaction to all this. I can only hope someone in management will make this right eventually. But for now, you've been warned. Do yourself a favor and spend more on a place that will actually treat you like you matter, rather than letting someone come into your house to take your stuff, and dirty your home without apology. read more

After determining that our carpet pad was ruined from the flood waters that crept into our house, I called upon Mike Landers at Carpet Exchange. Understanding that he was super "swamped" (no pun intended) it was going to be a couple hours before he could make it out to our house to give us an estimate. Mike was actually out driving in the storms going to customers houses and he made it to ours before schedule! We got an awesome estimate for padding and Mike assured us that we have great carpet that should stand up to the flooding as long as we got it dry in time. Before he left, we spoke with him about tearing the carpet out on our main level and replacing it with hardwood at some point, I am definite that we will use Carpet Exchange for that endeavor in the future. read more

After getting quotes from Home Depot and Lowes, I checked out Carpet Exchange's prices to do my rental property. Their price was competitive, and Dan, the rep I worked with really knew his stuff. They guarantee the product and installation, and could meet our tight timeframe (since we had a new renter moving in). Dan guides us through the selection process based on our priorities and advised us on what will work best in a pet friendly rental. We selected carpet plus vinyl. The installation was really good for the carpeting. The contractors knew their stuff and did a perfect job. The vinyl installers did a good job too. They had to take all the trim off for the install, and they managed to remove it and replace it without breaking a single piece. The vinyl installation had a couple issues, but Dan immediately booked the contractors to come back out and fix it. One of the issues was that they didn't seat the toilet properly. I had a plumber out there already, and Dan actually reimbursed me for the plumber to do the job instead of the vinyl layers so we could ensure that it was done correctly. The vinyl contractor fixed the other minor issues, and it looks really good. They definitely take their guarantee seriously, and I would not hesitate to do business with them again. read more

Shopping for a dining room carpet on a recent weekend, we encountered what seemed to be utter disinterest from the floor staff, all of whom were seated at their central desk location staring at their monitors. We found a carpet we liked and made the usual expressions that mean "we're ready for someone to help us now". After being ignored for awhile, we interrupted one of the monitor-staring employees and asked for her help. We learned everyone was ignoring us because one of the salespeople had said "hello" to us as we walked in and they therefore assumed he was helping us. But he wasn't, he wasn't even on the floor any more. So, she took over, and checked to see if the carpet we wanted was in stock. It was in stock at another location, so she called the other store and asked them if they could confirm they had it and arrange for it to be shipped to this store. "No" she was told - they wouldn't check, too busy. They asked her to fax her request! (How quaint!) So she called another location, and they agreed to check. The process of getting the carpet from one store to another commenced, and we paid and were told we'd be called in a couple days when it was in. No call came, so we waited for the weekend figuring that was more than enough time for the carpet to be driven across town. When the weekend arrived we called them and were told it "wasn't *quite* in yet" but they'd call us in a couple days. A couple more days, still no call from them. So we called them and learned it was at last in. Why hadn't they bothered to call us? Why did it take more than a week to get a store-to-store transfer? Why the cold shoulder? All in all this place just failed at every turn to give us the slightest bit of customer care. 3 stars anyway because they're cheap. read more

Although our issues were ultimately dealt with, it was a frustrating and disappointing experience having our hardwood floors refinished in the kitchen and getting hardwood installed in the family room. We had scheduled the timing carefully around travel and an upcoming family event, and everything started late and took vastly longer than promised. They sent out a guy to estimate the work needed, but he didn't correctly report the type of flooring we had in the kitchen (which apparently needed extra effort to refinish) and he didn't accurately assess the need for leveling in the family room (which needed major extra time and work before the flooring could even be installed). The person who did the refinishing was helpful and worked hard to get us back into our home as soon as possible, but the guy they'd hired for the leveling and flooring installation was continually late or missing, and the job he did was mediocre. At least the refinisher tried to clean up after him. Carpet Exchange said they'd never used the guy before and apologized, and offered us a store credit to make up for the immense inconvenience. When we went in to use the store credit, we were told we could only use it when our particular salesperson was on duty. Basically, they did decent work, but the stress, annoyance, wasted time, and ineptitude were enough to keep us from returning. read more

Carpet Exchange has really good products. We have used them before and had great success. Our salesman then was Michael and he did a great job. This time was a really terrible experience. We had carpet installed as well as Coretec. The installers of both products were great and did a really nice job. The salesman, Trey, was really bad. He is new so we tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. Our job was to be done in 2 days and , two weeks later, it is finally complete. All the finish work product for the Coretec was not ordered. Every time we thought that all was well, the items were either were not shipped on time or the warehouse could not find them. We finally got the manager involved. He ordered the missing items and promised us it would be done on Saturday early morning. We had to call to find out what was going on when the installer was not there. We were told he would be there at 2, so waited around all morning with no contact from anyone, before we had to call. The installer told us the warehouse could not find the items we needed so he went to another job, then they found the items later so the installer had to go back and get it. Just really disappointing. Really poor customer service. Two people who asks where we got the job done. We told them of the poor customer service and all the problems. We will continue not to recommend Carpet Exchange in Aurora. read more

I purchased elsewhere. The complete indifference from the sales people was incomprehensible. I had them come out to measure the house, they had to make two trips since they did not send the right person the first time. I had decided on a carpet and was still working on the tile. I asked for samples, from photos on their website. If the samples ever arrive I was not contacted about them. I went into the store trying to see the samples. The person there was not willing to try to find them. Quote, as he visually scanned the reps desk, "this is me looking for them and this is me not finding them". That's when I walked out. He had taken my name and phone number. One would think that the sales rep I had been working with would have contacted me. However, that was not the case. Talk about a disaster, we purchased flooring last November and they installed the floors with up to 1 inch gaps in the grout and destroyed parts of the wall. To add to it they installed the tile crooked and gave us the option to cut steps to make the illusion of the tile being square. We have been dealing with them for over a year to resolve and yet to have one. Then they had the audacity to trump up an new bill that's over 2,000 dollars over the agreed price and place a lien on our house. All around horrible experience!! My carpet delivery guy never showed up when they were suppose to. I had to call the sales team on S Abilene to ask what was going on. A lot of excuses later, their carpet installer did a "no-call no show" and I was left waiting. No one communicated this to anyone and I had to call the manager to get an installer to come out...the next day. I had a lot riding on this initial installation date (and I do understand things happen that are out of company's hands), it was how this was poorly handled that sticks with me. Furthermore, the next day the carpet installers arrived and did a rushed job. They stated they were not given the installation layouts/plans and had to improvise. They said they had to lay the pad a different way than it was cut to make it work. I wasn't sure what that meant at the time - as long as there was a carpet pad down how much different could it be, right? A few weeks later I was walking by the support pillar in my basement where this new carpet was installed. My foot stepped into a hole in the carpet where it appears no pad exists. It almost appears as if the pad was cut a certain way originally to fit around the support pillar and when the installers placed the pad a different way, it created this hole. There is carpet above but it feels like a piece of the pad is missing. I have tried emailing Carpet Exchange numerous times in regards to this issue with no success. I do not know if they are ignoring me or if this is how poorly they treat their customers and are afraid to stand by their work. This company has a section on their website regarding their installation guarantee. I wonder why they can't live up to something they are allowed to state on their official site... Please don't waste your time or money on this firm, they just want the sale. read more
