As it was St. Patrick's Day when I popped in for a browse, they had gone all out and painted all of their windows with Ireland-related imagery including a leprechaun, loads of clover leaves, a pint of guiness, a harp, a pipe and the joful phrase 'Top O The Mornin To Ya!'. It all looked rather festive and amusing! I assume one of the staff is Irish! The shop is much bigger than it appears outside, with an extensive range of carpets, small bathroom mats and a wide variety of rugs in many different sizes, colours and styles. Perfection Carpets provide a free carpet fitting service with all carpets bought, which saves money and hassle for the customer. Other flooring ranges from tasteful, shiny wood to my personal pet hate, laminate flooring, and probably even worse, lino designed to look somewhat unconvincingly like wood, though I don't blame the shop for selling this as I know many people seem to somehow think these types of flooring are a good idea! Don't get me wrong, they're not complete eye-sores, but I feel if I could just get a little something cosy to cover up the ugly pattern life might be that little bit sweeter. The lady greeted me kindly as soon as I entered the shop and offered me help, to which I explained my problem. I said I could be convinced to go for a sheepskin rug, albeit they're a little expensive, but perhaps a patterned rug might be nicer. She said that they often get left over pieces from their carpet fittings, and so it would be no problem to convert a cut-off piece into a rug, should that be suitable. I had a quick nosy round, as we didn't have long, and again was impressed with the variety of carpets available. I'm certainly considering coming back to have a proper look around and see if they have anything suitable, but the sheepskin rug option is looking ever more tempting in this cold weather!

Despite the issue with the distance and the need to have a local carpet fitter to deal with a carpet that anotherone had prepared. I was curious about how this would turn out. Richard and Colin were most helpful. Samples were sent, ample information provided, drawings and photos exchanged. As Brinton's have drastically altered their range Colin had to combine elements of his ample remnant stock (Thank you!) with others from another supplier (Ulster). It is the knowledge of an experienced team that counts here. The carpet was completely customised in the Stonegate Carpet workshop, very well wrapped and finally sent within schedule my house. I am so happy to have found this family run business with its most experienced team. Give it a try and you will definitely not regret it.

It might seem like small minded fun but it's nice to have an aimless wander and a natter with something none-too-challenging to browse whilst doing so. Think of it like watching Hollyaks whilst eating your tea, or similar. Something a little 'dumbed down' to eat to and then you can go back to some serious thinking. My friend and I wandered into KD Carpets and we were met by a sea of samples. Samples of all different finishes, styles and well, the colour range was mostly in the naturals and beige department. But then, unless you are my Dad and want a sort of sunset terracotta colour, I imagine most people would want something natural to go with all kinds of furnishings. They also had a number of different laminate options for kitchens and bathrooms too, so on the flooring front it seemed as though all bases were covered. It seemed as though the more expensive the carpet the smoother the feel was, with the 'festival' sample (£11.99) feeling a little more rough to the touch than the 'sensation' (£17.99). All in all we didn't stay too long, as we were only browsing, but it seemed like a fairly extensive carpet shop. They had a range of pretty decent looking mattresses too so it's a pretty handy shop to know about if you are kitting your house out! They are also open 7 days a week, and the chap in there seemed really nice and friendly too. Not bad!

They came out to measure up at a time that suited us, gave professional advice through the whole process! When in and fitting the carpets they were so polite and did such an amazing job - they took away all mess and old carpet so that we didn't have to worry about it. Had the unpleasant experience of being gaslit by I believe it was 'Oneil' - telling me it was meant to be like that, and that the fitter hadn't received complaints before. Regardless of a glowing history, he had made a mistake and instead of O'Neil helping as you'd expect, he carried on being patronising, rude and argumentative. Must've thought I was born yesterday. Reached out to Colin from the Wakefield store, who agreed with me and confirmed the cut made was of a poor standard. Colin restored my faith and assured me the fitter would be back to rectify... weeks later and nothing. No follow up, no sign of the fitter coming to fix his shoddy work. No calls or emails from Colin. Absolute silence. I'd use your own fitter if you're considering purchasing your floor from here. Or better yet, go to a different supplier altogether.

I…read moreonly needed 7 and when I tried to return the extras they said that it was outside the 30 days and wouldn't accept it because it was a special order. The flooring was a very common line of Karndean which I'm sure they could resell or return. I was never told that I had a limit to return the flooring at any stage. I contacted them and they said that they would ask Karndean to see if they would accept it back but they never responded to me. I rang to check on the status of the enquiry and they ignored my calls (recognising my number). I rang from a different phone and they said they salesman was busy and would call back but he never did. Eventually the store manager responded via Web chat through the website and also said he would see if Karndean would take the boxes back but never replied again. They oversold the quantity to me but then wouldn't accept returns of a common item which I'm sure they would resell within weeks. Then just ignored me. Won't be going back.
