Fantastic. Melts in your mouth. Stopped by the little farm stand on our way through Bennington and got lemon!

The Apple Barn is a cute, albeit touristy stop on the outskirts of Bennington, offering a plethora…read moreof Vermont-made food items, both fresh and pre-packaged. They also sell some non-food items, as well, such as t-shirts and sweatshirts. We bought a box of 6 little jars of Vermont-made jams and some maple syrup to bring home to CA, as well as a maple flavored "cremee" (Vermont's version of soft serve ice cream) to eat there and some maple fudge. The cremee was excellent and loaded with maple flavor and just as good as the one at Vermont Cookie Love in Ferrisburgh. My husband got the fudge, and he loved it. They also have many bakery items, but we actually didn't buy any of that. We were quite satisfied with the ice cream and fudge. The Apple Barn is worth the stop and has lots to offer. I'd definitely make my way back here if in the area again.

Through our adventures in Bennington, we eventually found our way to the Apple Barn. Such a cute stop for some souvenirs and treats. We ended up coming by about 90 minutes before closing. As we headed toward the back of the shop to see if they were selling creemees, we saw they had samples of apple donuts out. They were tasty, but definitely could tell they were made earlier in the day as they were not too fresh. We assumed they were probably trying to clear out their inventory for the day. We eventually found the soft serve machine and ordered a maple creemee. I should start by saying that I'm not a big fan of maple, but if I'm going to try a Vermont creemee, I had to order a maple one. It was perfect, great texture and just a hint of maple taste. My husband asked to try it and he ultimately claimed it as his own, so we ended up buying a second one. So good! Service was okay. We got a weird vibe from the lady who was helping us. She seemed annoyed and very short while we were checking out the food and trying to order our creemee. Maybe because they were going to close soon? Not sure. But that was the only negative about our experience. The Apple Barn is definitely a cool spot to visit if you find yourself in Bennington. You can definitely get some tourist shopping/souvenirs and enjoy some treats while shopping. We would definitely come back if we found our way in Bennington again.

Fresh, flaky, buttery, flavorful, made with local ingredients... everything you could possible want. Luckily I went to her home micro-bakery at opening time and there was a good selection but I understand she does sell out. You can also pre-order on her website. It's obvious that Wendy June aka "Fern" puts a lot of love and care into what she bakes. Easy parking at the old train station parking lot across the street. If you're in the area this is a must visit!

Everything is sweetened with maple sugar and locally sourced fresh cream, and it makes a massive difference in the taste. Seriously, these scones are next-level delicious, and the flavors are so creative and tasty. I had a Lemon Curd & Currant Moon Scone, a Speculoos Orange Spice Moon Scone, and a Maple Pecan Cinnamon Moon Scone. All of them were delectable, but the Maple Pecan Cinnamon was my favorite - I had a bite after we drove off headed back home, and I fully considered driving back and buying the rest of them. We come to Vermont a couple of times a year, so we don't live in the area, but I loved this micro-bakery so much, I signed up for emails - and I fully plan on making moonscones a pit stop during our next trip.
