First things first, Carolina Cupcakery (CC) will always be the first stop for me when it comes to custom cake, ideas or cupcakes. CC serviced my Lord of the Rings (LOTR) baby shower last year with the cutest cupcakes, and now fast forward has came in beautifully to provide my twins with their custom LOTR themed smash cakes. The cakes and cupcakes were so moist and delicious, my friends and family couldn't stop raving. My picky eater twins also loved munching down on the edible doors thank you CC, look forward to ordering from y'all again!

High priced below average cupcakes. This place is just not it. I passed by this place a bunch so o figured I'd step in, and wish I hadn't. I stopped by to pick up four cupcakes and it cost me $14! - red velvet - no flavor, dry -chocolate - better cupcakes at Walmart - lemon- so dense it felt like I was eating a biscuit instead of a cupcake - peanut butter- good peanut butter flavor The customer service was AWFUL. Was not greeted when I came in. I had never been there before so I had to ask if they did 4 cupcakes or if there was a number to get. Didn't even get asked what flavors I wanted, I basically had to ask if they were ready. No communication other than giving me the price. I saw two people in there and neither acknowledged me, other than what they were forced to do. Will never return here and I'd suggest finding a different spot. Nothing Bundt cakes is across the street with way better cakes and wayyyy nicer service.

I was excited to find a cupcake place that had gluten free and vegan cupcakes as I am a cupcake and cake pop lover! I saw this establishment on my way to oak lake park, nice place to stop after some exercise. Pros: service was very friendly, they had several options of cupcakes and cake pops to choose from. The small establishment was very small/cozy and appeared very clean. They have one small table for patrons. I enjoyed looking at all of the decorations and cake options. They offer discounts on purchases if you sign up with their shop, I was happy to receive a discount on my first purchase as well as receiving a free cake pop just for checking in with Yelp! Masks were required, social distancing signs were in place. I don't recall seeing hand sanitizer. There was no available bathroom to wash hands. As for the gluten free cupcake I had, it was rather on the dry side, it wasn't very tasty at all, I was rather disappointed. I ended up throwing it away (it's my first time in my life not eating my entire cupcake). My toddlers regular cupcake was just ok, she liked it. The cake pop was not delicious or moist, such a bummer. I had planned to order cake pops for my daughter's birthday but I definitely won't be getting them from here after tasting my free one. I was really surprised I didn't like any of the options I tried considering they were featured in cupcake wars. They also sell cookies which I didn't try. All the way to the right is a large refrigerator that has all the gluten free/keto options. Keep in mind the GF cupcakes are smaller than the regular cupcakes. I hope to give them a try one more time the next time we are in the area.

    Gluten free cherry pie

We stopped here for a cupcake for a celebration and bought the gluten free strawberry crunch cupcake and it did not disappoint. There was strawberry puree filling and the frosting wasn't too sweet. Also bought a gluten free cherry pie. A few days later we went back and got the remaining pies they had. This was the best gluten free pie crust at any bakery across the country. The girl was very polite and didn't mind listening to my story about how we came across their shop. It was a pleasant experience across the board.

I came to Carolina Cupcakery with one goal in mind, which is to eat some Red Velvet cupcakes. The first thing I noticed is the amount of cakes, cupcakes, and sweets that they have inside the store. I felt a little bit overwhelmed, but it feels like heaven. The store was very well decorated, but I noticed that the store was not well lit. I was surprised to learn that 1 red velvet cupcake cost me more than $4 (including tax). Even though it was a little bit pricey, the cupcake was really good especially the cream cheese frosting. The cupcake is not very sweet, but the cream cheese is a little bit sweet. It's a little bit moist as well, which is what I always look for when I eat cupcakes. In the end, I enjoyed my cupcake a lot. I just wish that the price is a little bit cheaper.

Their cupcakes are AMAZING!!! They have all kinds of cupcakes and desserts. FYI - They make Keto and Vegan cupcakes too!

French Toast in my crazy blue bowl. This thing was a beast! But really good!

These are definitely huge cupcakes! Good to split with someone. Place was clean. Lots of options to choose from. The French toast cupcake was awesome! Very different but tastes like the real thing! If I was ever close by I would definitely stop in more, but unfortunately this place is sort of out of the way :/ Really good cupcakes though!!

found this place in the plaza where I was ordering some takeout. I ordered a lemon, Pink Champagne, key lime, and a strawberry jumbo cupcake 4-pack. So picked up some red velvet vegan Donuts The lemon cupcake was slightly dry. They state that they bake every day m house. I kind of felt like this cupcake was a day old. It's covid era and businesses are slow so I wouldn't be surprised and I can't be mad at that. The Pink champagne cupcake was interesting. I didn't quite understand what was the flavor that they were going for. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. The cupcake itself was not very flavorful and also a little too dry. The lack of sweetness isn't a terrible thing considering that there was a lot of icing. The key lime tart cupcake was quite moist. The combo of tarte sweet icing in subtle cupcake was a perfect combination. Strawberry cake is always one of my favorites and I look forward to almost always picking it. especially when a place brands themselves by using real strawberries. I found out there strawberry cupcake was a decent contender amongst strawberry cupcakes. The strawberry in the cake itself brought great flavor and the icing provided a good balance of strawberry tart-sweetness. Overall, All of the icings were sweet and created a balance for the lack of Sweetness in the cupcakes themselves. The red velvet vegan donut was unique. I'm not a huge chocolate fan yeah. I knew I wanted to try the red velvet cake donut. They did a good job and I was happy that I had two to enjoy. The customer service was great here. Even through the pandemic, the young girl at the counter was friendly and allowed me to take my time picking my desserts. Note that If you are vegan, gluten-free, dairy free etc.. this place had an option for anyone's pallet, dietary restrictions, taste buds and that was pretty cool in my book! There are even pet treats here! I frequent the Virginia Beach area to visit family and I'm sure I'll be back soon

Carolina Cupcakery worked with my small wedding budget. I was still able to get the delicious, tiered cake I was dreaming of!

I especially love the ham and Gruyère croissant and even ordered them to be served for my birthday last year. The service is efficient and kind and the atmosphere is super chill. I love stopping here when I'm in the area and want a pick me up. My most recent visit I decided to take my friend here after we grabbed coffee at Fr8 house a few minutes away. We opted to get a whole pizza and went for the Brisket and Blue which had fresh mozzarella, gorgonzola, smoked beef brisket, basil, pickled red onion, and green chili jam. The pizza was incredible. It had a great bite, slightly crispy, super savory with a touch of sweetness and the brisket was the savory star of the show. I added a bit of red pepper flake and it took it from a 9 to a 9.5 dare I say 10. I highly recommend checking this bakery out whether it's something as simple as a cookie or croissant or the whole pizza. There is something for everyone.

Hidden Gem for Sweet Tooths & Pup Parents!…read more We visited House of Marmalade as part of the Hampton Roads Passport Series, and I am so glad we did -- I don't think I would've discovered this little gem otherwise! The shop is small and cozy with no indoor seating, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in charm and incredible sweets. The bakery case was absolutely stunning -- full of beautifully made cookies, macarons, and more. We tried three macarons (espresso, almond, and salted caramel), and every single one was perfection -- fresh, flavorful, and just the right size and sweetness. We also grabbed a shortbread cookie, which was buttery and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. And let's not forget our pup! Lexi got a pumpkin cupcake with peanut butter icing, topped with a tiny bone-shaped treat -- not only adorable, but she devoured it. Definitely pup-approved! The staff was fantastic -- super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. You can tell they care about their craft and their customers. So it took a few minutes before they greeted me. But they did eventually, and they were friendly. I looked around to see what they had. It was different whole cakes, cake slices, cookies, breads, coffee, cinnamon rolls, quiches, and etc. They are affiliated with the 17 hands coffee shop next door. They make the quiches and baked goods for them. The whole cakes looked pretty. They also had some fall flavors in desserts and coffee!! I did find it confusing that nothing had prices. I had to keep asking how much everything I was interested in was. The cake slices are about $7-8 per slice and the cookies were $3-4 depending on the flavor. I got a red velvet and a double chocolate cookie. They were both a good size and thick. They were ok. But nothing buttery or special stood out. The double chocolate was the better cookie out of the 2. The red velvet was a little bland. But looked appealing. I'd like to try their cakes in the future. I will say there were a few fruit flies lingering in the showcase which is why I chose the cookies. There's some outdoor seating. They only sell whole quiches here, but you can purchase individual slices next door, because they don't have the capability to heat them up there. I'd come back to try other things. Check them out!!
