I've been to more nail salons than I can count and to be honest, I wasn't really expecting much when I walked into this place. A bit disappointed because the place across the street was fully booked, I came here out of desperation. I was just going to do a solid color because I didn't want to risk doing a design I didn't like... but a few minutes into filing and I decided to change my mind. After a couple of back and forth with the manager they said by design would cost an additional $10 -- and coming from most of the places I've been to -- that is a STEAL for reverse French. Melody took her time with my nails, inspecting each nail after applying polish and making sure that I was satisfied AND she only took about 40 mins. I've been to high end nail salons in NYC and for the same exact thing they charge double and take double the amount of time (granted they use a thinner Japanese gel, BUT STILL). I have been going to this salon since I was a teenager (even when the location was on the opposite side of the street), and while I also tested out dozens other neighborhood joints but I consistently return to Fancy Nails because I find the quality of their work the best. Lisa (the owner) is very hospitable, and strives to make a welcoming and wonderful experience for all the customers. She will be honest with everything from wait time to the state of your nails, and gives you options to consider but never up-sells you. Cindy and Melanie are my favorite for pedicures. Jenny is an artist for a manicure. I have played with everything from acrylics, silk extensions, gels, SNS (powder color) and compared to other salons, somehow they manage the least damage to my natural nails. Since I've been turned onto SNS here I haven't found any salons that do a better job. They last long and aren't thick - very natural. Consistency is most important to me, and if I have found in rare times if I felt that the service wasn't good, Lisa offers both a solution, as well as explanation perhaps why expectations weren't met. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because I find their regular nail polish selection a bit lacking and outdated (would love more variety and more new seasons of Essie & OPI to appear), and slowly the salon is showing wear, but it is still clean and spacious and I will continue to come here. read more

Customer Service here is horrible!!! Was already inclined to not go back here after my first experience here, but my second one guaranteed it. Besides the fact that it was the most awkward nail experience I've had due to the dead silence in the salon (no music, no small talk), the nail tech tried to use tools on my hand that had money laying on top of it, they tried to make more money off of me by insulting my eyebrows and telling me to let them do them. The SNS manicure I payed $35+tip for, which was supposed to last 2 weeks lasted 3 days. Nails started falling off doing normal things such as showering and getting dressed. When I went into the store for a refund, I spent a half hour on the phone with Lisa explaining the situation and having her yell that "they have to make rent" and refuse to give refunds. Her reasoning for my lousy manicure was "its our first time doing your nails so its not our fault that they fell off." read more

I went on a thursday to get a manicure and pedicure. It wasn't too busy. The nail polish selection is very limited. One women even left the salon to go buy her own nail polish. I was greeted by a friendly asian lady with really long hair. She starts off doing my pedicure then she tells me that she was going to have someone else do my nails. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN! From there everything went down hill. The lady that took over was HORRIBLE!!!!! She couldn't even file my nails properly! She was rough and rushing! I told her that she was filing them uneven and she tells me maybe its from where I'm sitting...uhhh no!!! I tell her to fix it and she just stares at the nail. I took the nail file and filed MY OWN NAILS. I told her I don't have time for this!!! When she painted the nail she left the edges unpainted! I don't understand how they hired her! MY GO TO NAIL SALON!! I've been coming here for years and can't see myself going anywhere else. The staff is really friendly and my nails always end up looking really nice! My go to for nails are either Alan or Lisa. Alan is the only male one working there but I feel like he does the best job. He is very meticulous and never leaves me dissatisfied! Each manicure or pedicure comes with a massage. Lisa is the best with eyebrows. Ever since i've started going to her for my eyebrows, I can't go to anyone else. I have very short eyebrows but over the years, Lisa has been able to wax my eyebrows a certain way and leaves enough at the ends that my eyebrows have been becoming longer. She even fills them in for me at the end of each session!! The salon is pretty and clean. There are a lot of other salons on the same street as Fancy Nails but in my opinion, it looks the best and you leave with the best nails! I've been coming here for years and it's true Lisa, the owner , is probably the only person that will bother asking you for your name. The place appears clean. There are times where there is no wait, like now, and other days you may wait an hour. I think it's like any other nail salon. The staff works on you with minimize communication with you. There are some that do a great job and others who have room to improve. I've had gel manicures that last 2 weeks and other times it chipped off the next day. However, I can always go back and get it fixed. I've also have, on numerous occassions, hit my nail getting in the car before it's dried and they are always very nice to fix it. Lisa is really good at eyebrows it's true, but every time i've gotten waxed she is on the phone the entire time! How do you talk in your customers ear having an entire conversation in a different language? Been coming here forever and they always do a great job. Lisa, who does the majority of waxing there does an incredible job and does the best Eyebrow waxing. Honestly, the accuracy and speed is really impressive and I leave feeling like a brand new person (improved) each time. Awful!!20$ bucks for nothing. She scrubbed my heels for literally 10 seconds maybe. Never told me her name. Didn't even polish nice the tip is supposed to colored as well but I have a clear/ white strip I'm used to much better pedicures. This was rushed. I've been coming to this location for about two years now. The price is very fair for this neighborhood for the quality of service you will be getting. My girls at this place are Lisa and Sandy. I had my eyebrows threaded for about seven years when I started frequenting this place, and Lisa often asked to "fix" them. I never realized how damaged my eyebrows really were since I was always so loyal to my threading lady. Lisa TRANSFORMED my eyebrows and now I refuse to let anyone but her touch them. Everybody always compliments them and are shocked when I tell them they are NOT threaded as they appear to be! Sandy is the best manicurist in the place. I go here to get my nails done (UV Gel manicure and pedicure). The lady that does my nails is very nice. Her name is Sendy. She is very meticulous and not lazy at all. She carefully paints my nails and always makes sure they are even. At times, I have seen her re-do certain nails (French) to make them match and I value that...because she does it all within a reasonable amount of time. She even told me that if I chip my nails within 4 days, I'm always welcome to return and she'll fix it for me. I always give her a generous tip for her service because she deserves it! read more

I have been going to Fancy Nails since it was across the street from the Post Office in the Whitestone Village. This has been my nail spot for nearly a decade.....and I go every single week. The prices are fair, and the skill of Lisa and Alan (her husband) is without comparison. Sherry is great for pedicures, too. I agree with the other reviewer insofar as this is NOT the place if you want airbrush or any nail design.....not even a squiggle. But if you want swift, well done manicures, permanent french that is spectacular, eyebrows that are just so at Queens prices, this is the place to go. Try to go on off days (not Friday and Saturday)...you can walk right in and be taken care of. And do bring quarters for parking...the meter maids there are some of the most overzealous beings I have ever seen. read more

Wow! Thinking that every nail salon is the same and they are all good is wrong! My friend and I went to go get our hair done while my other friend got her nails done across the street to save time. We took an hour for our hair and went across the street to see if she was done, thinking that an hour was more than enough time to get JUST her toes done. When we entered this nail salon, she was STILL cutting the nails and didn't even start the nail polish. So, we waited patiently until she was done. Now we realize after the lady is done painting her nails that she forgot to put my friends flip flops on. She tries to slide them in but is not able to without ruining her nails. So the lady says it's ok and tries to pick up my friend which was not going to happen. So, my friend had to walk BAREFOOT to the dryers to dry her toenails and even put her feet on their dirty machines because the lady forgot to put her flip flops on. Now it's going to take forever to dry because she made the nail polish so thick. So I guess we learned a lesson, never to come here and do not go with a new girl who had no absolute idea what she is doing. I come here to do my eyebrows and my nails. I don't go anywhere else for my eyebrows because Lisa is the best; she is fast, painless, and she does the best job. I have friends that come here once a week from an hour away just to have their eyebrows done by this perfectionist! The staff are also very friendly and make you feel comfortable. The interior is beautiful, and the chairs are very comfortable. I am always greeted when I come in, and I am never made to feel awkward. This is the worst nail salon i've ever been to in my 18 years of life. I got gel powder there. As soon as i left the nail salon, my nails smudged. I went back on & they fixed it. The next day, one of my nails came off. I had to glue it back on. Three days later, another nail came off & I had to glue that one back on. It's been a week since I got my nails done & in total 3 nails have come off. I've had to glue them back on multiple times. The salon took 2 hours for me to just get a gel powder manicure and it was a shit job. I recommend never going there. Its dirty, slow, & she ended up charging me $53 where in every nail salon it's $30-$35. The lady also talked shit about my nails to me & to her friend next to her. There is no respect and they try to trick you. DO NOT GO HERE. I am saving you time & money. I also got my eyebrows done here a while ago. Lisa burped in my face as she was waxing my eyebrows.
