Growing up, EVERYONE raved about Carm's. But maybe that was because I was in elementary school and kid's birthday party pizza is always tasty. Not sure, maybe I'll have to try a Chicken Parm or other dish from theirs, when their dining room opens up. But I still agree- they are TOTALLY kid's birthday party-style pizza. (Not sure if this is a notch above or below cafeteria pizza?) The dough is very "doughy," with not much of a crisp bottom. Almost like an undercooked breadstick... the sauce is okay, a bit of mashed tomato & spices, cheese is standard. I went on a Wednesday during 85¢ mini square day (they had a white broccoli that was sold out). Got 2 cheese & 1 pepperoni that just came out of the oven. It IS only worth 85¢ quality unfortunately. Tried a regular slice once too, and same wonder bread like breadstick dough. I'm not sure why people raved about this place. I wonder what kind of oven they use and what exactly is their style of pizza. A frozen pie from the grocery store tastes better, sad to say for such a longterm restaurant. read more

Have not been here in years, but came for early dinner because I had to pick up my order of 6 pounds of link sweet Italian sausage. I was told by relatives it is very close to Garofalo's sausage which we loved for decades. Sausage is made to order so you must call ahead. Hot and sweet sausage in link form or loose are offered. The Pasta Fagiole which we had in place of salads tasted like homemade with a full bodied rich broth. Little pieces of sausage added flavor. The grated cheese they serve is better than most find in restaurants. The fresh bread was below average because it had a soft crust like a loaf of American. Cold glasses of Perroni hit the spot on this hot day! Husband had the Baked Ziti and took half home. He said the tomato sauce was excellent. I had the Broccoli Rabe over Spaghetti tossed in flavorful good quality olive oil. The rabe was cooked perfectly, tender but slightly crunchy and spicy from the right amount of red pepper flakes. Delicious. Chris, our server, was excellent. She competently covered the restaurant and front desk at 4:15 pm on a Tuesday. She was efficient and friendly. Absolutely love this place. The fresh rolls and bread are absolutely stunning. Jimmy, the chef/owner has a really amazing approach to his old school authentic family recipes. Wow! We had a family group of 15 and were searching for a restaurant that could accommodate us. Carms had the space for us. We each had an amazing meal and excellent service! While the place could use some updating, don't be fooled into thinking it would be an outdated menu. Every singe one of us enjoyed our meals! We will go there again next time we are in town. Price was great too! Roughly $200 to feed 15 people, and we each ordered an entre, no pizzas. Best kept secret in town!! read more

I've driven by this place a million times over the past 25 years and never tried it until the other night. I will say the woman was very pleasant at the register and my pizza was ready in time. The place is in serious need of some updating but for getting take out it doesn't really matter. I bought 2 large pizzas which cost me about $35 for one sausage and one white broccoli. The pizzas were probably about 16" so they were an average sized large and they were just ok. I will say the broccoli pizza had a decent amount of toppings but the sausage was very skimpy. The crust was on the harder side and not very good. I'm sad to say I probably will go back to just driving by it again for the next 25 years. read more

We have not been here in years but are so glad we went. We heard about their new buffet specials and decided to go to tonight's wing buffet. 10 different kinds of BONE IN wings, all you can eat, with a beer, wine, or soda included for $17.95. How can you beat it? Sue, our server, was the best and nicest person we have met in years and definitely made our visit awesome! Overall I'm disappointed in the quality of food that was delivered from Carm's. The reviews were so mixed that I decided to try them out for myself. Honestly this meal has ruined my whole day!!! I ordered a sub that was so soggy that by the time I opened the delivery container the bottom piece of bread wasn't even formed or whole anymore. It was just a watery sponge that disintegrated when you touched it. I tried eating the sub without the bread but I almost threw up. It was not appetizing or appealing. I was going to take a picture of the sub to share here but I desire no photo evidence to ever remember this meal. I am from Scotia, Italian-American, and my mom and grandmother made incredible pizza! The square-cut pizza here is very similar to theirs and is DELICIOUS! The owners are great, very accommodating and friendly. The other half of the place is a restaurant which recently opened again after COVID. I haven't tried anything but the pizza, but it is always great. Be sure to order the square cut. I don't understand the negative comments about the pizza or the need to update the place. This is a review of carms food but also their generosity. I work at Ellis hospital on the floor which is caring for the majority to the current covid 19 patients . Last Monday I came in to my night shift to see a huge tray of ziti and sausage, tray of wraps,tossed salad, macaroni salad and perhaps some other goodies which had been all enjoyed by day shift. That plus a lovely note from Carms saying we were chosen to receive this food.. The macaroni salad was fresh and tasty. The tossed salad was great. The wraps hit the spot. A coworker and I decided to stop here randomly on my way back to my office. I can't say that it was great, but I also can't say that it was terrible. We stopped by around 12:45 and the place was empty except for a small group that was just on their way out. The service was attentive, particularly when we first got there, but this trailed off a bit. I ordered a small pizza (which I had heard was great), and my coworker ordered a sandwich. One would think that being the only people there, there wouldn't be a big wait. Not so much though. It took FOR-EV-ER. In the waitress' defense, she was pretty attentive on refills and such. But holy hell, on the kitchen's end, there was a wait for the food. When you consider what we ordered, there isn't really an excuse or explanation for it. While waiting, I had enough time to construct my own space shuttle, fly a few laps around the outer solar system, and come back just as the food was being placed on the table. Now, the food... the food was pretty good. I enjoyed the pizza. They didn't try to make it too complicated or fancy. My coworker also enjoyed the sandwich. By the time we paid and left, it had been nearly an hour and a half. That's a long time given the circumstances. It was still a pretty good experience though, and I'll probably be going back at some point. read more

This is a roadside pizza joint with a dining room which you enter through the take out area. The back room is conventional with a drop ceiling that has a fence or two hung from the ceiling. It's very modest, but has comfortable large tables with lots of room. The service was friendly. We had eggplant Parmesan and baked ravioli with meat balls. The meat balls were too plain, with too little bread crumbs, flavoring and cheese and the ravioli were tasteless and the only flavor I got was the pizza sauce; too acidic and very little other flavor. The eggplant Parmesan had virtually no flavor and the sauce for the pasta was hollow as well. So, what I can say is that if you want hollow flavored Italian style food for $40 for two, this is your place. read more

I love this place! It's clean, and the service is awesome and personal! My husband and I go here every Wednesday, we just moved to Clifton Park in November. So I make something of a hobby out of visiting new small family pizza joints when I am traveling. Places like this are the reason why! First time customer and in the ten minutes I was there I met the owner and chatted and made jokes like I was a life long customer. The food was excellent, I had a steak sub. Quick service. If you like the welcoming family run sort of places, that serve laughs with the food, look no further. I wasn't a life long customer when I walked in, but I was when I walked out. Carms - we have had a long lifetime together but sadly I think it is time we go our separate ways... The last pizza we had gotten from there was so thin and crackery that we actually called and asked them if they had switched to a premade crust. She said there was no way that they made all their own dough and it must have been a fluke. Well much time had passed since then and not to be one who holds a grudge (after all growing up in 1980's Alplaus I had only ever had Carm's pizza every friday night of my entire childhood) I had always commended them that even almost 40 years later their food was consistent and without noticeable change. So last week we tried again ordering an 8-cut pepperoni/meatballs and 20 wings ($32!!!) and hoping for a taste reminiscent of my childhood - NOT! The three of us each took a bite our slices and went... what the hell happened to this place??? There is NO WAY this pizza is made from fresh dough - it is tough, as thin as cardboard, and has about the same taste. Fresh dough rises and has air pockets and is chewy with a crispy crust and bottom. This was flat wafer thin with tons of holes on the bottom (like a premade crust). We ate the wings and called and ordered another (delicious COB) pizza from Red Front 2go (8 cut w/2 toppings-$10) Therefore - I am finished with you Carm... we have to go where the food is prepared with love and yummy goodness. There is too many other fabulous pizza joints around here to waste another dollar on your tasteless crap. You might see me for an occasional sub on the way up to the lake - but even those can be gotten elsewhere better and cheaper. You need to go back to your roots of making great food (slowly) but with love... Upon reading the reviews I almost suspect that the people who ate on the premises may have actually enjoyed their food more - our last sit down pizza there was fabulous - fat, messy, cheesy, hot, and loaded, you needed a fork and knife to eat it in fact! But that was probably 2 years ago.. My how things have changed... In fact the pic of the slice shown here was nothing like what they make now.. they might wanna frame it in remembrance! read more

They saw me walk in and had never been in before, i didn't get a menu I just asked for a bacon blue cheese burger. I got charged 17.23 for a burger fries and drink !!! Well I can definitely say I won't ever be back. Use to love going here once in a while for some great pizza and wings but prices are outrageous now. As we walked in I noticed they took the advice and renovated the dining area and it does look great. We sat down and looked over the menu and asked if they still had a pizza, wings, garlic knots, and pitcher of soda deal they use to offer which was very affordable. We were told no so everyone in my party ordered something different along with a couple small appetizers. We started with an order of cheese garlic bread and chicken wings extra crispy as we don't like our wings flabby. When our wings came out they were so overdone they were like chicken jerky, also the sauce was odd in that it didn't have much flavor and was mostly oil. We have never had a problem ordering wings crispy and most places know how to cook them right. Garlic bread with cheese was good hence two stars. We all go to order our main entrees and I got a calzone with sausage, onion, and pepperoni. She asked if I wanted ricotta in it which I thought was odd since all calzones come with ricotta so I said yes. Our food arrives after a short wait and everyone seemed happy with what they got until we received our bill. Turns out they charge extra for ricotta in a calzone and I was not told this when she asked if I wanted it which I find sneaky, the calzone ended up costing $12.75 at that point I might as well have ordered a whole pizza. When we asked why ricotta was extra she explained the only do mozzarella and the dough for their calzones. This place obviously doesn't know the difference between calzone and Stromboli and calling one that is deceptive. Also no other pizza place I have been to does this or charges extra. Because of the higher prices, deceptive menu, and no longer offering a pizza special they have lost me as a customer. I ordered chicken wings a little crispy and they came out nearly burnt and very tasteless. Just recently, I have had the pleasure of experiencing Carm's, and have been going back ever since. The pizza is delicious, and the hot wings are actually HOT!!! Very hot. Just the way I like them. This restaurant has been around for 40 years, and deservedly so. They are in the process of starting a renovation, so it will be even better. If you haven't ever been there, I highly recommend to give them a try. The wait staff, cooks, etc. are family, and they are all so nice. First, I consider myself a pizza "cona-sewer". This is another childhood memory for me; I remember very well it opening some 40+ years ago. I thought then it was the best .!.! Not having been there in 40 years, I did not recognize the surroundings and had a tough time finding it. OK - why 5 stars... Simply the best pizza I ever had - still !!! My rating is for the pizza only - its amazing - at least for my tastes. Carm's (the restaurant) is not a place for atmosphere or great service and the attitudes are somewhat snobish in a 'Seinfeld Soup Guy' sort of way. I have done sit-down twice since being back and both times the pizza was PHENOMENAL (Pepperoni and Sausage). Everything else was a step below average - 2 star (I now am back to take out). It's one of the few places where five stars, one star, one star, and two stars average out to "5" still. I have had a quick slice or wings from this place but one day I decided to have a sit down lunch after discovering the dining area. The dining area felt like little Italy but it was comfortable and the service was great. The staff was more than friendly. I can't recall what my wife ordered but I ordered the veal parm and my daughter just ordered a cheese pizza slice. The food came out in a timely manner, it was very good and reasonably priced. Dining companion and I stopped in at Carm's this evening for dinner. Okay, the decor could use some updating, but it's clean and I knew the food would be good from past experiences. We both ordered chicken parm. Salads were fresh. Yes it was iceberg lettuce, but that's fine with me. The chicken parm was a full boneless breast, not the usual half breast you get other places. However, the total was $36 and both pizzas were so raw that, when you pulled the cheese back, it was clear. I never really met a pizza I didn't like. Could live on pizza, but I could not eat this. I tried this local restaurant on a date night with my husband. It was awful. The plates and silverware were dirty and we had to clean them ourselves. I ordered chicken parm and so did my hubby. It had to be hands down the nastiest chicken parm i have ever eaten. It came soggy and the sauce was a canned sauce w no flavor at all. I didnt finish or eat much of it. The waitress noticed i think bc when she asked me if i wanted it wrapped i kindly said no thank you. They really should fire their cook . The staff was very friendly but the fod was awful. read more
