I like this place. Went on a Sunday afternoon. The sun was shining. This place had their doors wide open to let the air in and the smell of warm tomato pies out. We had a small with artichokes and pepperoni. The crust was nice and light, the amount of toppings was just alright, but it was all down to the sauce. Fresh and chunky. It made the pie. Good price. We ordered the 6 slice California pizza for take out. The crust was thin and crispy and the toppings were delicious- spinach, artichokes, mushrooms, onions, olives and feta cheese with a light white sauce. It was pricey- around $ 17.50- and I am pretty sure we would have eaten more if it was there. But for a pick up it was reasonably hot and still crispy- excellent favors! The pizza was good but the young adults (def not kids but didn't act like adults) were rude and didn't take care of the establishment. When it was super slow the tables were dirty, wet puddles on the floor, which we informed them about and the girl just laughed and shrugged her shoulders not seeming to care. I made a yelp just for this review: it was that bad of an experience and honestly one of the worst service experiences in my life. We called ahead for a pizza delivery order and were ten minutes early. We paid for the pizza and handed the receipt to the manager as their system called for. The manager preceded to yell at us for coming early and stated that we are given a pick up time for a reason. When I asked for a refund the short blonde manager said "his money is no good here". It was an absolute nightmare of customer service and I would be embarrassed if I were the owner to have that manager representing the pizza shop. The area of Carmine pizza shop I don't know how to describe how beautiful it is all the beautiful little shops and when I seen Carmine's pizza shop I knew I could get a Greek salad me in my friend was really happy so we ordered two of them in a pizza when I ordered I seen it said pepperoni in a Greek salad I didn't understand that I never knew Greeks put that in there salad so I ask her not to put it in my salad we ordered she had a little hard time understanding me she was new I think they were foreign exchange students there was about four of them in the manager was the one telling them what to do so he ask me what I said and I repeated myself he said ok. the order was done in a timely manner I didn't think I had to look in the bag but to my surprise when I got home it was too small Caesar salad I couldn't go back at that point it's about 20 minutes away I called them. Overall great pizza. The crust was very soft, and the sauce had great flavor. Pepperoni, sausage, eggplant, you name it! This eclectic pizzeria and café has the tastiest pizza pies my wife Sheila and I have had in a while! The staff worked with impressive speed and served with a smile, which is much appreciated. Sheila got her favorite: a slice of pizza with no cheese just tomato sauce and it was absolutely delish! On the other hand I went for a slice of eggplant and my was it marvelous! Baked to a perfect crisp and exquisitely prepared, I savored the Italian flavors with each and every bite. The only reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5 was because I'm almost positive I found a hair in my slice. But that's beyond the point. Pizza is very good, staff is nice, management is horrible! I called ahead for a small pizza, arrived 20 min later as requested and waited for this nice girl to finish ten tasks before allowing me to pay. I take my slip to the end of the counter and again wait for a nice boy to do five operations before he takes my slip and hands me a large box. I look at him funny and pull the slip out of the box and sure enough it is a match. When he asks if anything is wrong I say I ordered a small but if it's pepperoni I'll take it because I have to go. He proceeds to panic, make sure he hasn't mixed up slips and then admit to the boss they made a large instead of a small. Instead of saying OK, she proceeds to pull the pizza back, look in the oven and offer me someone else's cheese pizza. I don't want a cheese, I want pepperoni and I want to leave. No, she replies, you can have your money back and take this cheese or wait for a small pepperoni. So you are willing to give me a free cheese pizza you made for someone else instead of the $2 more large pepperoni you made for me?? And on top of it you are going to make me wait 10 minutes to get this pizza, while 6 people who ordered their pizza after me take them away, and I stew and think up my Yelp! review. Here's the deal, the pizza was ok, but the service was AWFUL. We stopped by for dinner last night with our 18month old and when the shop didn't have any plastic knives available to cut up the pizza I asked the teen punk working the line to "please use his pizza cutter to slice the pizza into small bites". Not only did the teen punk refuse to do this but his reasoning for saying "No" was because it would "make his pizza cutter dirty and he would have to wash it." At this point I had no idea what planet I had just landed on and had to bark at him to get the owner/manager so that I could get the pizza we ordered cut up for my son. Thankfully the owner/manager was a reasonable person and used the pizza cutter to cut our pizza. My suggestion is stock knives for your customers to use, and fire any teen punk workers that do not understand anything about Customer Service! read more

Now, if you're from NY or NJ, please keep in mind that your standards are different -- as a 20-year Cape resident I've had to adjust, and "best on Cape Cod" hardly means "best anywhere." But still! While visiting at an Inn in Chatam, Mass. My friends and I inquired about Carmine's Pizza. Well, I can tell you it was the best we have ever had. We are not youngsters, and have eaten our share of pizza in our lifetime. It was so good we went back the next for more. My only sorrow is that I live in California and it is just too far to travel for pizza. LOLOL.. Hopefully on my next visit we will have the pleasure to return to partake inr more.. I don't usually write reviews but I have to agree that carmines has the best pizza I've ever had. I mean real old fashioned pizza, not nouvelle cuisine. The crust is so good it's impossible to eat just one slice. Sort of thin, but crisp and oh so flavorful with good olive oil and crunchy cornmeal on the bottom. And the sauce is primo. The staff are generally Eastern European workers who may have some difficulties with English, but they are incredibly busy in the summer and they are trying hard to do their job. At any rate they learn how to bake a pie properly and turn out the orders as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality. I just don't want to go anywhere else for pizza. read more

I called this evening to find out what time you were closing, was told 8:30, I was coming from Sandwich. drove the 35 minutes to your place, got there at 8:04 and was told "take out only". It would have been helpful if you also said, take out only after 8. This is the second time it has happened to me. I own a store in Sandwich and have told customers when they are in Chatham they need to go to Carmine's. Never again will I recommend your place or go out of my way to go there myself. read more

Was there on a very busy night, ordered pizza and was told 25 min. wait. Asked manager a question and she was curt and rude. As I was waiting standing at the counter, I watched the staff who were making the pizza. One of the girls had rubbed her nose with her hand, wipe her hand on her apron and continued to make pizza's using her hands to spread pesto sauce onto a pizza crust. Awfully entitled and unprofessional staff. We ordered a pizza with certain topics. When I went to pick it up, the cashier repeated my order correctly, I paid for the pizza and he asked me to pick it up at the next counter. I gave them my order slip and picked up the pizza. On my way to my car I opened it and saw that it had the wrong toppings. I went back and the woman at the pick-up counter told me that this is what I had ordered. I asked for my order slip where it showed what I had ordered and she refused to show it to me. She said that she remembered the order and that's what I had asked for. Instead of accepting their mistake she kept trying to convince me that I was out of my mind. She then told me that they could make a new one for me but I would have to wait another 25 min (I had already waited 40 min for a small pizza). No apology, no acceptance of error on their part.
