I lost my bike shop -- T3 Multisport -- and I called around to find a new one. I was going to go to BGI, but I decided to have my bike put together here (from parts, all bought online) and the guys are super cool to deal with. They sell bikes and rent them, too. Got my new bike and took it for a spin and it's nearly spot-on. They did an excellent job considering I'm brand new to the shop and all I gave them was a hunch of how big I am and a bunch of bike parts in boxes. Excellent bike shop. I messed up my bike and needed several repairs. Derek took the time to clearly explain what I needed done. He was non-judgemental and kind. I'm not a young racer type and other shops tend to look down on us regular people. I also had the bike tuned up for $20 less than Bikeline down the street charges. Well, let's just say my experience wasn't what I'd hoped for. Brought two bikes in for tune ups. One needed tires. One I wanted bar ends installed. Said they'd be done in 8 days. One was. The other was still waiting on bar ends. For some reason they didn't stock this basic MB accessory. Was told it would be done the next day. Nope. Surely the next right? Nope, not even a phone call. Maybe I'm critical because I work in customer service. But if it were me, I'd have ordered those things overnite to make sure they were there by the second day promised. When I picked up, not even an apology. Won't be back. With so many shops to chose from, customer service is the ONLY thing to set you apart. 7/2/16. Upgrading my review to 3 stars. Just received an email from shop manager. Stated that the delivery of the bar ends were beyond his control, and should have contacted me. Included an apology and hoped I'd return. The only reason this place is getting 5 stars is because of Myron....what a great guy. He was extremely friendly and very accommodating. Always smiling and willing to help. It was a painless process to get the bikes. Walked in, got the bikes, Myron adjusted and we were on our way. While biking, I managed to run over a push pin and my tire was going flat. Good thing it happened in Broad Ripple but bad thing I had to be assisted by The Bike Line. Wowwww what a difference in customer service. Didn't appreciate the slow service and the slight attitude that we got from not only 1 but 3 employees. Carmel Cyclery was more than happy to pay for whatever service was done to the bike but you would have thought that was rocket science for the Bike Line to figure out. Anyways, I will definitely always get my rental bikes from this place! Thanks so much for a great experience!!! read more

We purchased a small pink hotrock bike for my daughter from Carmel Cyclery recently. The staff made sure it was a great fit for her and she was so thrilled. On several other occasions, we have stopped by for routine maintenance including the time my pedal came off while riding the monon! I'm a recreational biker and even though this shop has everything for the serious bikers down to novice, these guys always take their time to suggest & explain things as if we were the only ones in the store. We always receive great personal service with a smile.....a scarce commodity these days. I highly recommend Carmel Cyclery. Family owned and local is a big plus. read more

I just received fast, friendly, and efficient service from this shop. They are also great about giving out "riding tips" especially since I am new to biking. They never have tried to sell me more than I need, but are great at making suggestions that will make my riding more enjoyable. I brought my 80's road bike here to get fixed up. I was very happy with the customer service and affordable prices. They also finished everything in a matter of 3 days. I bought a bike from these guys a few weeks ago. I'm kind of starting over, after four decades of not being on a bike. I got a nice one speed from them and they were very good to deal with. I decided I needed to put some handle bar brakes on as I didn't feel comfortable with the old-style pedal breaking. They had the part for me in two days and got it right on. I've tried several different bike shops in the area, and Carmel Cyclery is my go-to local bike shop for service. I've had multiple tune-ups and a bike completely assembled for me, and the experience has always been great! I'd like to specifically recognize Patrick for excellent customer service - when I bent a rim and there was only a slim chance that they were going to be able to do anything for me, he still did research on my behalf and got me the answer back within a couple hours ("not cost-effective for you" if anyone was curious). I'll be stopping by again soon for some new gear! read more

While I was on the Monon trail I had a flat tire. One shop I went to said they were too busy to help me so I went to Carmel Cyclery and they smiled and did the work right away and saved my riding trip. Those guys are very friendly and easy to work with. read more

Took my wife's bike in to have a flat tire fixed. We were pleased that they said they could fix while we waited. But after we returned home and took the bike out of our car, the tire was still completely flat. So I had to re-load the bike and make another trip back and forth from Noblesville to Carmel to have it re-fixed. When I arrived the 2nd time, the two employees were standing around talking, but neither offered to help me unload the bike, and they couldn't even hold the door open for me to bring it inside! There was no even minimal attempt to apologize for all of our extra time and trouble. When it was fixed, they let me leave the same way I came in, no offer of assistance to load it back in my car or even hold open the front door. Strange customer service. We won't do any more business there. read more

We are from out of town and decided we would rent bikes to ride the Monon Trail. We were told by a number of shops in Broad Ripple (in mid-June) that they "do not rent bikes this time of year." Needless to say this was weird and frustrating. We found Carmel Cyclery in the midst of our frustration and they went WAY above the call of duty. They set up 6 adults with 5 children with bikes, helmets, trailers, and trail tips. They were more patient with our chaotic crew than we deserved. No matter what you are looking for, rentals, tune-ups, new sales, the crew at this shop is so gracious and knowledgable they deserve your business and you will not be disappointed. read more

I brought my bike in to have two new tubes replaced. I picked my bike up from the shop, paid my bill and went home. When I arrived at home, I realized the front tire had a knot in it. I then took the bike back and arrived 30 minutes before they were supposed to close. When I pulled in the parking lot, a man was already locking the doors for the evening. I came back a third time and dropped off the bike again. This time, I purchased two new tires as well. I informed them of the prior mishap and they said they would not charge me for labor. After 4 trips, I ended up paying a little over $120 for two tires and two new tubes. I will never go back again and don't recommend this bicycle shop as their staff clearly doesn't have much knowledge on customer service and basic bicycle repairs. read more

I recently brought my bicycle in for a "Basic" tuneup, and paid $75.00 for the service. The next day I took it out for a spin on the Monon Trail. Many of the middle gears caused the chain to rattle against the chain guide requiring multiple manipulations of the gears to stop the excessive noise. Because I was going by their shop, I decided to stop in and have them reexamine the adjustments on the gears. Upon bringing up the problem and possible solution, I was confronted with a less than receptive service tech who didn't show a positive attitude towards me or my bike. To be clear, this isn't any $2000 race bike but an inexpensive one that I felt comfortable purchasing. After the first tech didn't do anything, I had a second tech come in and play around with the adjustments a bit before telling me that I had to live with certain realities concerning the bike, leaving me aghast. If the level of my reality should have been set low, why didn't you tell me this at the start, saving me $75.00. I now have to take this to another shop and hopefully I can give them the great rating I want to give. As far as this shop, I will not do business with them in the future. read more

i took my bike here for what should have been a very simple fix (adjusting brakes and gearing); i could probably have done it myself but i lack the proper equipment. i felt confident taking it here with their prime location and lovely store. however when i got the bike back it seemed to be in exactly the same condition as before. after riding it around the lot, i took it right back in to explain my dissatisfaction but they ended up just trash-talking the bike ... so they did essentially no work (they didn't even bother lubing the thing or inflating the tires), blamed the bike for the poor performance, and never offered my money back. i might have deferred to their credibility, but afterward i took it to another store which ended up fixing the problem (without any trouble) for less than this place had charged me! i dunno if my bike happened to get stuck with some trainee (the guy did seem particularly young), but this place seems to lack competence. And yet they're not afraid to take your money! a dangerous combination... avoid these poseurs!! read more
