Had my bike tuned up in March. Looked and felt like new. On second ride there was an issue with the derailleur. Brought it in and John got right on it. Had it fixed in less than 30 minutes. He was so apologetic for the issue because he tuned up the bike. He didn't need to be that apologetic but it shows the level of care they have at Matthews and their guarantee stands. Especially for a guy like me who rides a good bit but doesn't like the mechanical stuff, Matthews is top notch. Also got a fitting last year from Mike and it was well worth it. read more

Matthews Bicycles - 2018 Specialized Roubaix - Bikes Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

It's all about attitude. They work on some of the most expensive bikes in town ($20k+), but they still take time to help customers like me and my cheap 20-year old aluminum cyclocross commuter. No pressure to upsell. They honestly want to help customers keep riding the bikes they already have and love. After a tune up and replacement of worn drivetrain parts, my bike shifts crisply and quietly. Service done the same day. This place is great! read more

Mike was extremely helpful and worked with me to get me on the bike I wanted. No pressure sales and friendly staff.

Quick and convenient....Excellent service I love that this place has people who are very knowledgeable. Been trusting Mathew's with my cycling needs for years. read more

Overall, it's a good bike shop, but there were some issues. I went there to have my bike tuned up for the summer. The mechanic was attentive and explained the various repair options, but I felt that the service could have been a little faster. The repair took a whole day, even though I had made an appointment in advance. The seat replacement was very quick and hassle-free. However, I didn't really like the appointment system, because I had to wait longer than I expected. It's a good place, but perhaps the speed of service could be improved. read more

They cleaned my bike, Replaced my chain, and made it look near brand new. It was done before the expected time. Always great.

I purchased pedal straps and when the guy put them on, he said I'm unsure if this is how it works, but we're gonna make it work. OK cool. I'm riding on the Monon today and the strap falls off which means I fall off. I take my bike back to Matthews and Clayton said that's not their responsibility. He said that when I left the bike shop it was my responsibility, no sympathy no empathy no sorry man that happened nothing. He by Far has the worst customer service I have ever experienced in the store. I got called into work and made it to Matthews with five minutes before they closed. I understand that they can't fix the bike, but I said can you at least help me find the screws? I don't have any screws. It fell off. He said no we're closing in two minutes. I said well you have two minutes to look he said no, I don't want to OK. Go somewhere else from here on out. read more

Matthews Bicycles - My bike! It's the first bike I've purchased as an adult! - Bikes Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

John was a huge help in servicing my disc brakes as I waited. Highly recommend Matthews Bicycles!

Very cool bike shop on the eastside, and it is very convenient to 465. I stopped in knowing they carried my preferred brand just to look around as I was contemplating other brands available nearby. Well, I saw a nice-looking Renagade and decided to come back and take it for a test ride. Matthews has a great staff of folks who are willing to work with people wanting to get out and ride! Thanks guys. P.S. that Renageade and I got a 19 mile run in this past Saturday. read more

Great customer service, even over the phone! They didn't have what we were looking for but were kind enough to point us in the right direction. read more

Can't recommend this place enough. Brought in our dept store huffy to trade in for a new bike for my 9 yo. Mike helped us and fixed the bikes problems telling us that it was still ok. I appreciated his honestly and was still in the market for a new bike for my daughter. He was so helpful and kind and helped her pick a new bike in her favorite color. She rides so much better now!!!! We drove 30m to get here and would happily do that again and again. Could not be happier. read more

After a long weekend of frustrations with other bike shops, I was directed to Matthews Bicycles. On February 6th, 2024 I called asked if they provided long term demo bikes. They do not. However, unlike other places I talked to, the gentleman at Matthews explained why they do not, why other places might not, and made real recommendations. While I did not get to use their services, as its something they don't provide, their attitude was night and day different from other local bike shops. read more

About two months ago, my husband and I decided to pick out new bikes as another way to get outside and be active during the pandemic. We stopped in to Matthews Bicycles and our experience could not have been better. We were helped by Mark. Since we had never purchased bikes before, we were completely lost. He explained the basics of how bikes work (much more complicated that I thought), asked questions about where/how we would ride, and helped get us the right size bike (which I didn't know was a thing). He also set us up with helmets, a water bottle holder, and little plugs to help add air to our tires. Finally, he recommended a bike rack for our car AND helped install it so we could get our bikes homes. Overall we spent probably two hours with Mark and honestly, it flew by. His knowledge and patience were astounding. I felt like he cared about getting us the right bikes and about our experience. As long as we live in Indy, we will be Matthew's customers. 100%. read more

Took my 13 year old son in today to check out their bikes! Read so many great reviews, had to make the trip! So many bikes in stock! It was like Christmas! Excellent customer service! New to this area, having just moved here from Dayton, Ohio so looked up bike shops, and liked reviews and the history of Matthews Bicycles from my on-line research. Took my Trek into their shop for some general maintenance and tune-up. Scott and John were great in welcoming me to the area, completing the work needed on the bike within the specified timeline, and gave me great ideas for cycling trips in this area. Thanks guys! I'll be a regular customer for all my bike needs. read more

Polite, professional, knowledgeable. These are the things you want when you are looking to buy something. This is what we encountered at Matthew's Bicycles. They fit us into a bike that was perfect for my son, took the time to size it correctly and make sure we had everything we needed. Bicycles are not something you shop for often, but when you do I highly recommend Matthew's. read more

I cannot begin to describe how awesome the staff is. I originally bought my bike here years ago and traveled 50 minutes to actually get something done on the spot (a flat tire) instead of wait 2 weeks. These guys and gals rock! read more

Mike Dowling was our salesperson. He is so knowledgeable, kind, patient, understanding, and taught us a lot about new bikes. I had a basic cruiser bike. After foot surgery and my knee being drained the bike was not an option for me anymore. Mike after learning about my leg issues, he had me try an electric bike. It was great and fit my needs great. Unfortunately, we have to get all new appliances,, so the price of the bike wasn't in the cards. He had me try a bike that was a 7 speed, it sits up high, it is a step through bike, very comfortable, I test drove it and bought it. The price was in an affordable price range for our budget. If you want a great bike shop go see Mike at Matthew's. read more

5 stars all day long. You just don't find customer service like this anymore. They are super nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. My husband has been going here for decades and we've purchased road bikes, mountain bikes and kids bikes plus ALL of the accessories. It may seem unusual to review a bicycle shop on the basis of a wheelchair repair, but such is the case with my review of Matthews Bicycles. As nearly anyone who is an "active lifestyle" user of a wheelchair will tell you, it is quite often much less expensive and much quicker to get your flat tires and wheel repairs done at a bike shop. I'd been utilizing a bike shop on Indy's Northwestside, but they sold out to a bigger operation that no longer met my needs. As I live only a few minutes away from Matthews, I finally gave them a shot. Boy, was I glad I did. Matthews, first of all, carries a wide variety of tire sizes and was already quite familiar with the notion of repairing a wheelchair tire. They weren't remotely phased by it and immediately explained their fee structure for both the items and install. As my hands don't work the greatest for fine detail work, I usually have installation done for me. Whereas my previous place had frequently become frustrated with wheelchair tires that can be difficult to deal with, the folks at Matthews have never shown a grimace or uttered a curse word while dealing with the wheelchair. That may seem like a little detail, but it's really refreshing to have someone seem to enjoy their work. On only one occasion have I entered Matthews that they did not have the tire I needed, and they ordered it and got it exactly when promised. They've also helped me explore options for better efficiency of my wheelchair tires and they're always quick with an offer of a chair while I wait. They've also made it clear that I can pull up to their service area and honk, a step that would eliminate my need to climb out of my car. While I've never done this, it just speaks volumes about their willingness to go above and beyond for customer service. I have several friends who use Matthews for bicycle purchases and repairs and they also speak highly of the establishment. Whether you're a bicyclist or a person needing a wheelchair tire repair, Matthews is definitely one of your best options. read more

I needed my bike maintenance and they did a great job and it was ready in less than a week. I was very impressed and recommend them!

Recently had my wife's nice but aging bike serviced. My wife loves the bike and it's still got a lot of miles but it's a fine line between getting it back into top shape and buying a new bike. The service guys discussed the options with me and how to get the most bang for my money and keep my wife on a bike she loves. Drive train had a lot of wear so they suggested investing there along with trueing the rims and adjustments. I picked it up and the total cost seemed very reasonable and my wife and I went on a 20 miler and my wife could not have been happier. Her bike rode smooth and shifting was crisp. Great work and communication with shop! Thanks gents! read more

This shop is awesome! In a bold move I signed up for a 275 mile bike ride and had to get a new bike and everything one would need for such a trek! I will come here again and again for all my biking needs. Matter fact I even bought my husband's bike here as well! read more

paid $400 for a Haro for my son, took the bike back for the maintenance tune. Shortly after we purchased the bike the material came loose from the side of the seat, when we asked about it they said that the bike has been laid on its side, my son keeps that bike in his room, takes great care of it, he had one wreck and it scrapped the hand grip and pedal, no marks or any sign of damage anywhere on the seat, today my son was at the bike/skate park in Franklin, he popped his tire tube, he walked it to Grey Goat bikes downtown, they replaced his tube, no big deal except the guy told him his tire was on backwards (tread reversed) and that it could not be changed now, we purchased this bike already assembled from Mathews , now makes me wonder if they really know bikes at all! read more

My experience with this shop was fantastic. I went in there Saturday, April 25, 2020 to look at a bicycle that would be a fit for my older body. Nancy told me there was a bike upstairs with my name on it. I went upstairs to look, found the bike she was talking about, test road it, and bought it. Every employee in that shop was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend going to Matthews if you are looking to buy a bicycle. read more

Best bike shop in Indy. Scott helped us and was very knowledgeable and helpful. Purchased a couple of specialized fat tire bikes. They are Ausome!! If you've never ridden one it is so cool. We went to local mountain bike trail and it was really muddy. Regular Mr bikes weren't able to ride that day. Ours floated over the mud and we had a ball. Best purchase in years read more

Scott was as helpful as they come. The start to our road trip to California couldn't get any worse and he was an answered prayer! Our road trips typically and frequently were 8-12hr drives with 30$ bike rack hauling our two road bikes. Well not this time, driving through Windy City had whirl-winded our champion 30$ bike rack into a baleful looking lean-to. Upon further assessing it, i noted the bolts had become dislodged and stripped! Thankfully we noticed this before our bikes flew off on the interstate and killed someone! By now it was storming terribly. We hastily went to the closest Dicks sporting goods and correctly installed a new 70$ bike rack. What we thought would be an upgrade from our 30$ rack turned out to be pregnable by the elements. Every 10 minutes we noticed it was malpositioned and the straps had loosened. We stopped 5 times before I noticed wifey, on the verge of tears. Scrambling, we decided to go to the closest 5 star review bike shop. Cue, Scott - Bike shop specialist extraordinaire. Scott hooked us up with a Saris Bone bike rack. He helped us set it up and gave us some extra instructions for troubleshooting. Even more, he assuaged our angst and reassured us this rack would be safe for everyone on the road. Anxiety went from 10/10 to 2/10 then. We had been plagued with worry, confusion and perhaps a bit of misfortune. Well now we are halfway to California and we couldn't have done it without the help of Scott at Matthews Bicycles. read more

Awesome Service! Got hit by a car on my way to work and was lucky to only get a few bumps and scratches-- my bike on the other hand didn't come out as well. I was devastated because I JUST got her tuned up! Brought her in with a flat, and minor break and rim work. David turned the bike around to as good as new within 15 mins and talked me through every detail! So thankful for a place that knows what they are doing! read more

I have been a customer for several years. I love they way I am treated every time I go in there. I never feel pressured or stupid for not knowing something. They take time to explain things to you. My most recent visit was for service. I had taken the bike twice to someone else and they said nothing was wrong. They were able to identify the issue and show me what was wrong in minutes. I was told it would be 2 days before fixed. I was called within 4 hours that it was complete. No surprises delivered and problems fixed for a reasonable fee. Thanks Matthews, I will not waste time going someplace else next time read more
