These guys are the best. Brought my bike into Indy Cycle having been to another shop. They identified what needed to be repaired quickly and got me back on the road right away. This shop is very far from where I live but I will come here from now on. read more

These guys are the best! Incredible service and really knowledgeable about all different types of bikes :)

It was time for me to get a new bike, and I knew just where I wanted to go--Indy Cycle Specialist. When I arrived and told them the type of bike I wanted and the size, they made me nervous because they said they might not have any compatible bikes in stock at the moment. However, the guys who helped me remembered they had a Salsa bike available, and it was the *perfect* bike for me. As soon as they brought it out, I was in love. It even came with a Brooks saddle. The guys who helped me were awesome. Both were super friendly and helpful and made sure I had everything I needed to get going. The bikes do not come with pedals, which is pretty normal, so just anticipate your costs being a bit more expensive than just purchasing the bike. They installed my water bottle holder for me, which I thought was nice. Unfortunately, I had gone over my bank's daily spending limit with the bike so I had to call to get the remaining balance approved, but the guy was super understanding and we got it corrected very quickly. Honestly, this was the easiest bike purchasing experience I have ever had, and I felt like the guys truly cared about bikes and ensuring I got the best one for me. I really enjoyed talking to them and will definitely be going back here for any necessary gear and for tuneups. If you want a bike, this is the place to go. They are pricey, but these are good quality bikes and the markup is not insane. read more

Indy Cycle Specialist - A beautiful bike. - Bikes Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

So overly excited about our new bikes! We visited 4 different places and returned to ICS. Their staff was completely knowledge with all of our questions. Friendly and patient with us too. Josh was interested in our bike habits and concerns. Josh thought of safety items we had forgotten about and encouraged us to protect ourselves from accidents. Thank you Josh for your patience. The selection was plentiful and the variety gave us a full understanding of what worked for us. Got to "test-drive" the bikes and get a full experience to be able to pick the best bike for us ! So happy!!! read more

We were looking for new mountain bikes and after visiting 5 local shops landed here. It was quite a drive for us but absolutely no regrets. Tom has been fantastic to work with - very knowledgeable and patient. He went above and beyond helping us with all the requests as we bought a lot of gear and two bikes that day. We also received a great offer on the MTBs and all the equipment we bought and it's hard to wish for more. We will definitely recommend the shop to our friends and will be coming back for all our mountain biking needs. You can tell all their employees do care about customers. Thank you, guys! Couldn't be happier with our purchase. read more

Indy Cycle Specialist - Love this new Giant works well and has definitely given me the bug! - Bikes Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

I continue to be impressed with the staff at Indy Cycle Specialist. They have gone above and beyond my expectations for the service work I've had done on my bike. Special shout out to Scott for pushing to get warranty work covered by manufacturers. read more

Very helpful! Took an older bike in for a tune-up plus whatever else it needed. They informed me it only needed a tune up, not even new tires, tubes, etc... am very happy about that . Also purchased an excellent bike carrier that I've been wanting for years. Two gentlemen installed it in the tow hitch on my vehicle and thoroughly explained how to work it. Not having a carrier has prevented bike outings on vacations etc, and right now I couldn't be happier to have more freedom. Thank you Indy Cycle Specialists!! Ready to roll!! read more

Please Yelp: give me a sixth star so I can hand it to these guys. Since my last review a long time ago I have had ICS build a set of wheels for me, I almost bought another MTB from them (and they worked really hard to make me a happy customer but I changed my mind), and right now we are exchanging photos of a part that I have ham-handedly broken. ICS is the only shop who can get me back on the road today. THANK YOU :) There are plenty of fantastic bike shops in town and the folks running them are all great to talk to but I probably have my most fun, down to earth conversations with the awesome people of ICS. Plus they take care of their people. If they weren't so far away from me, they'd be my first call every time. Check them out on Facebook or stop in. This is the place to buy a bike, for sure. read more

The staff are so helpful and nice here! Everyone was COVID friendly and they knew a lot about the local trails for biking. I bought a new bike seat from them and they put it on for me as well! I will definitely be back here when I need a tune up! read more

These guys are awesome! Bring your bike in for a tune up or replacement of major components they can do it all. I was very happy with my reception and how I was treated during a new chain installation. The tech let me know if the other parts I may need and the price and lead time. Very courteous and professional. The chain install was also handled professionally. This place has a great selection of bikes and a nice lot you can test drive in. Bring your helmet to test drive but in case you forget they have some loaners. All ages and levels of bike here, great place to stop in. read more

Thanks to Ron at Indy Cycle Specialist in Irvington for help with getting my bike ready to ride. He showed me how to reattach my front tire's brake after taking it off for transport, pumped up my tires and lowered the seat. When I told him I was going to sell the bike, he encouraged me to get out and ride it, to at least give it 30 days, even gave suggestions where I could ride easily. I would highly recommend Indy Cycle Specialist for your biking needs. read more

I biked over to see what they had, it had been more than a year since my last visit. I got new biking shoes and a couple pair of gloves. Chris even installed the cleats on my new shoes. This is my favorite cycling store read more

I went here looking for accessories for my scooter, specifically a rearview mirror and a lock. I do not live in Indy, but from Vincennes which is about 2+ hours away. The weather was rainy, and it was mid-afternoon on a Thursday. They did not appear busy. I was helped immediately by two sales associates who seemed fairly knowledgeable. I purchased the rearview mirror that clips onto my eyeglasses and a bicycle lock. The items seemed like quality merchandise and priced appropriately. The next day, I tried to attach the lock holder onto the scooter without success. It looked a simple zip tie attachment, but the tail just wouldn't slide through the opening even though I had the appropriate 4 hex tool to adjust the screw. After searching the internet, calling the business (they hung up on me, but eventually emailed me a video to assist), and a call to the manufacturer, out of frustration I forced the tail through the opening and was able to attach the lock holder. At no time was I angry, just frustrated that I was having to spend so much time on this task, and the prospect of having to return to Indy to return the merchandise when I reside out of town and care for my elderly mother. It ultimately worked out, but not from any guidance from the store, the manufacturer, or the internet. Also, when I bought the lock, I didn't know it came with a holder, so that was a bonus. As it turns out, I wished I had asked more about the lock and the mirror, especially since I was from out of town. Of course, you can't ask things that you have no knowledge of either. read more

I Just moved from California to Indiana and I miss my BEACH CRUISER! My point in making this post is that, even though they did not have what I was calling for. A gentlemen named Kyle was nice enough to talk to me and give advice at the last hour before they were closing. I'm looking forward to meeting kind people like Kyle. read more

First time here , EXCELLENT experience. Brought bike in for rear inner tube replacement. Impressed me immediately when he informed me it would be cheaper if it was off the bike,I thanked him for that information. We went to lunch and upon returning they did the replacement as requested AND aired up the front tire as well as tightening my kick stand!! Which was not requested. Stellar customer service! After leaving I noticed the final bill was even LESS than the quote I was given on the phone. Highly recommend, friendly staff, will return here for all our bike needs. read more

Went here to get my daughter rom straitened. I was ready to over pay considering it is a bike shop in a trendy part of town. I was wrong. Extremely reasonably priced and the staff can answer any and all questions you have. Bikes are pretty high end but the mechanics and salesman are great!!! read more

I bought my first bike from Scott Irons when I lived in Broad Ripple and he was still working out of a little shop on Ritter. The bike was a red Caloi that got lots of sideways glances as I logged mile after mile, commuting to school by bike and then work after i dropped out. After I moved to Irvington I bought a second sweet machine - this time it was a Redine monocog for my bike commutes downtown - from ICS in their fancy digs on E. Washington St. Both times Scott undersold me, making sure I walked out with what I needed, not what he needed to unload, and both times I walked out having spent less than I had intended to. That kind of service is what guarantees that I'll be buying bikes and cycling accessories from this shop for as long as ICS is sellin' 'em. read more

If you need a bike and live on the east side, ICS is the place to go. Owner Scott Irons is one of the biggest mountain bike aficionados you'll ever meet and he passes that enthusiasm and knowledge to his customers. Warning: after buying a mountain bike here, you may be tempted to head directly to Brown County State Park and start hopping over logs and tearing through rock gardens. Be sure your insurance is all paid up. read more

We live very close to this shop, and this is where we always come first when a bike breaks or we need to pick something up. We had both our bikes tuned up here last summer--one of them needed a bit of serious work--and were very impressed with how cheap it was! One of their mechanics even fixed a bungee cord-cassette incident on the spot for me, as I hung my head in shame. I've always been greeted within about a minute of walking through the door, and staff has knowledgeably helped me when I asked for it and left me to my own devices to browse when I didn't need help, which I appreciate. They have a nice selection of types of bikes: road bikes, cruisers, mountain bikes, commuters, but they don't carry a huge in-store inventory of frame sizes (they will size you, and are fine with ordering a bike if they don't have the size you need). They also sell a really nice variety of helmets and accessories. You can even pick up some ICS socks. If you tell them what you're looking to spend on something, and what you're looking for out of the product, they'll steer you in the right direction without making you feel you need to break your budget. They might even come down a little on price. :) They encourage you to take bikes around the block before you buy so you can get a real idea of what they feel like. read more

I assume the staff is void of knowledge since we were not acknowledged for the full 15 minutes we spent in the store. This shop needs to seriously step up customer service since one of the perks of shopping locally is getting personal, friendly treatment. read more

This is my favorite bike shop in Indy. I've been an avid cyclist for years, but never faithful to just one shop. However, I was in the market for a Surly and had read that ICS carried the brand. I had heard of ICS but, because I live in Broad Ripple, I never make it out to the Irvington area. I stopped in the shop probably 6 different times before actually purchasing the bike. Every time I walked in, Neil and Robert were super helpful and knowledgeable. ICS is worth the trip to Irvington. (It's actually in a really great neighborhood.) Thanks to Scott, Robert and Neil for all the help. You've got yourself a new loyal customer. read more

I made my first serious investment in a bike and am extremely happy with bike I ended up with (Salsa Marrakesh) and even more so the service that I received. I had actually been in a few times before this purchase to get help narrowing down my decision and each time I was met with a smile and a clear passion for cycling and helping people. This helped make my decision and purchase very easy and has left me with no regrets. I would without hesitation recommend Indy Cycle Specialist to anyone looking for a bike. read more

I never thought I'd like a bike shop. But this place is fantastic. First of all, a disclaimer: I am not a biker. I know nothing about them, nor do I really care. I wanted a bike that I could ride around my neighborhood or around town on the easy trails. Something simple, low maintenance, and affordable. Indy Cyclists staff didn't make me feel like a moron explaining that to them! They were incredibly nice, helpful, friendly, and provided a great overview of what they had that would be a good fit for me. They also offer layaway plans in case you need to make a few payments over 2-3 months, at no extra fee. And your purchase comes with a free tune-up! I'll definitely come back for all my bike needs. Bonus: dogs allowed inside :) read more

I came here looking to convert my mountain bike to a more road worthy bike instead of buying a whole new bike. My original plan was to buy a second set of wheels to swap back and forth between road/off-road. In order to easily do that with my bike, it would have been expensive, so the employee working with me suggested buying a second set of tires and just swapping the tires. he was helpful in explaining everything I needed, and walked me through buying a helmet that would both keep my brains in my head while also keeping money in my pocket. read more

I tend to be a painfully slow decision maker, and I spent several months looking for the perfect bike before I bought one. I also live car-free, so I had a pretty finicky list of what I wanted. After visiting every bike shop in town (most of them several times), I ended up with an awesome Giant Escape from Indy Cycle Specialist. The staff was knowledgeable, kind, and patient with me in spite of my long repeated visits before actually making a purchase. Bob was super helpful and allowed me to test ride bike after bike. The year of free maintenance is awesome. The guys are relaxed and not "salesy" at all. I love this shop and highly recommend it. read more

If I need to go to a physical store to buy parts for my bike in Indy, this is the best place for a downtown dweller like me. I have been to most of the bike shops in Indy, and ICS is by far the friendliest and has always had what I needed in stock, except for one time, but they ordered it for me and it arrived the shop within the week. I can't say anything about how they are for repairs, because I do those myself. I honestly have no complaints other than I wish it was closer to downtown, but it's really not that big of a deal because I can just jump on the bike lane and pedal my way over to Irvington and poke around some other places since I'm down there. read more

If you are in the market for a bike, I'd suggest talking to Scott at this shop. He's been in the Irvington area for at least 20 years, and has had enough success to go from a small shack on Ritter to a large showroom just a few blocks away from "the strip" in Irvington. A few things to note: 1) If you don't make yourself known, no one will bug you. This place will definitely let you browse. 2) If you buy a bike, they'll perform maintenance on it for up to a year afterward. I recommend sticking around and asking questions so that you are well prepared once you are off the 1 year warranty. 3) Prices range from $500 for commuter and kids bikes to at least few thousands for the serious cyclist. Bottom line, Irvington has seen a resurgence in the form of good local shops over the last few years. Come to Indy cycle to check out a true original. read more

After visiting several other bicycle shops in the area looking for a particular bike, I decided to swing by ICC. Not only did they have the bike I was looking for, but I found the staff here to be much friendlier and helpful than the other shops. I bought the bike on the spot, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that they also service the bike at no charge for up to one year! Now I must admit I am a novice cyclist and prefer to ride comfort bikes, but they appear to have a great selection of other bikes and accessories as well. I will be making ICC my first stop for my bike needs in the future. read more

Very knowledgeable staff and far better pricing than all the others I checked. I've taken my two mountain bikes in and been very pleased, whereas BGI is the only other place I'd consider. Stay away from bike line; they mangled my bike, it's never been quite the same and it was 35% higher in price read more

I've had these guys set my mountain bike up for a couple of years now and they are great. They've also talked me into upgrades which were worth every penny. I couldn't go backward if I tried. I've bought a couple of bikes there now and will probably get another one next year. The wifey don't likey, but I like to ride all terrains. Hope you find them helpful. read more

Indy Cycle Specialist - Versailles State Park 40F. Good times. - Bikes Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

This review is from a visit about four weeks ago. I bought a new bike and wanted to have it checked out before riding it. A coworker told me about this place. My first visit was o.k.I didn't have my bike with me I just wanted to ask some questions about service. I didn't really feel welcomed. They seemed to be bothered that someone came in the shop. My coworker insisted they do good work so i decided to take my bike in. I'm really glad Levi was working. ( he wasn't there on my first visit ) He checked me in answered my questions. He called me when my bike was ready and helped me pick out a lock. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day on my first visit. I'm glad i went back and everything worked out fine. From now on they can handle all my bike needs. read more

Exactly the type of place I was looking for when I bought my first mountain bike. I'm a beginning mountain biker, and the staff person here was very helpful. He didn't oversell me on anything and walked me through my different options. The parking lot is potholed, which comes in handy when you're test riding a mountain bike, probably not so much when you're test riding a road bike. There's one year free maintenance when you buy a new bike. They have a good selection of not only mountain bikes but also commuter and road bikes. read more

This is my favorite bicycle shop in Indianapolis. Not only do they not make fun of my 1970's era Schwinn Continental, they take great care of it for me. I experienced a blowout recently on a busy summer weekend. I took it to the shop expecting it to take a day or two to repair. They had me back on the road in less than 15 minutes for less than $30. These guys are the best. read more

I ride a Pogliaghi from the 1990's. I don't want some mechanic scratching it or telling me to "buy something new" I never get that feel at ICS. Scott and the guys respect me and my bike, and handle it as if it were their own pride and joy. I've often looked around and chatted, without spending a dime. Scott and the staff are cool and friendly... no pressure to buy. I have always found the staff to be helpful and honest. The selection of gear on hand has become pretty impressive. Prices are competitive and the brand and price point variety is good. The only reasons I don't visit more are that I live on the north side, and haven't ridden much lately. read more

These guys are fantastic. I purchased a bike at the beginning of summer and after a few strenuous rides around the neighborhood, was told my wheels were untrue and needed tightened. I had NO IDEA what this meant, but I called ICS to see if they had time to check it out one Sunday afternoon and they told me to bring it by. I brought the bike in and about 15 minutes later, had a fixed up new ride. The nice guy working on it also raised my seat and I believe he tightened something else, though I can't remember what. I remember being shocked at the low price for such quick and sincere service. I asked, "Are you sure?" and he smiled and nodded. Will definitely return. read more
