First off we as a family want to give Sam a shoutout he was the absolute best, customer service was great and willingness to solve problems, helpful, never seemed agitated with how long it took to take care of us, very knowledgeable and overall just a nice genuine human being. Sam is the man, and we recommend everyone to work with him at this CarMax couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. read more

First of all, never trust your car with Nick the technician. Secondly they devalued my car so much. They damaged my car during transportation, and had to replace one of the roof rails which they did with a cheap replacement. The body shop they sent my car to absolutely trashed my car with it being littered with dirt after I had it professionally cleaned, they scratched my new car mats I had installed myself, black finger prints littered up and down the headliner, and they deeply scratched my car along the drivers side that they couldn't even buff out. To add to it, I was a couple days postpartum having to go through this and see my beautiful new car getting completely trashed. They offered to send my car back to the body shop to have them clean it, and after it was returned the car was still dirty, there were still black fingerprints all over my headliner, my mats were still scratched up, and the deep scratches were still there because they were so deep. This went on for over a month, and I regret it to this day trusting this place with my car. I hate this Carmax and the experience they gave me. And Nick will absolutely screw you over and have an attitude about you being upset that your car was devalued. read more

I had a GREAT experience today. I got a good online offer for my vehicle (2019 Ford Expedition Limited Texas Edition) at the Tyler store. My initial thoughts was that the online offer was bogus in some way. Well after getting low-balled by some of the local dealers, I decided to try and see what Carmax had. My sales agent was Ozzy. He was awesome. From the time I walked into the store, I felt welcome. I have read all of the negative reviews left on here, but my experience was exactly the opposite. It was serious no hassle, sign here, and here's your check. They didn't try to change the offer, it was absolutely amazing. It makes me realize that the so called "friendly" dealers were all about how they can rip you off, compared to how the folks at Carmax handled themselves in such a professional manner. Shout out to Ozzy and his Manager Nick. Thank you for such a positive experience. read more

Helpful Sales staff. I have purchased at least 5 vehicles for family members and 100% satisfied. You do have to look them over very carefully but with a chance to drive them to verify condition. Purchased in Meridian, Idaho but mostly at Tyler, Texas location. read more

Exceptional friendly service and always transparent and integrity driven to help all customers.

I had a car transferred from Dallas to Tyler. I agreed to the asking price. When the car arrived in Tyler, I said I would take it. Then they told me the price was 3K higher than agreed. The sales manager Nick pretty much told me to take it or leave it. How can they go up 3K in the time it took to arrive. Not a good company! read more

I had a pretty rocky experience with CarMax this time around. Ordered a car for shipping to a different location, for it to arrive extremely damaged & late. I saw the car I wanted at the Tyler location & decided to drive out there instead of risking damage having it delivered again. Drove 2 1/2 hours there & got seen surprisingly quick after arriving. The initial guy we were working with was kind of up our butts while looking at it, he was very obviously new. We ended up dealing with Jordan for the actual sale, he was super patient & helpful. There were issues with the finance stuff that ended up holding us there way longer than intended, past closing time, but he definitely made it a pretty okay experience all things considered. Highly recommend dealing with him if you're looking for a smooth sale. As rocky as it was, I'm happy with how it all ended & now I'm home with my new car & hopefully won't have to deal with this process again for a while. read more

We're visiting family in Tyler from Florida and enroute our truck developed fuse issues relating to cruise control. We contacted your service department and I met Tony who handled, corrected and essentially eased our minds about the matter He was most professional and pleasant and a great asset to your company. We were most pleased with everything and can now return to Florida without worrying. Thank you Tony. read more

Came with my sis to find a truck. Service is phenomenal. Just don't like how long it takes but that's every dealership. Our sales person was wonderful and very patient. They have a huuuuge selection of cars. This is a very very busy location with non-stop customers but they also have the man power to handle it. My sis found the truck she has been looking for. read more

I had went in and got a car on a Saturday and while driving it I let them know that the tire light was on they stated that the back back passenger tire had a nail in it and to take it to the discount tire and they will handle it, took it there and they PLUGGED the tire Tuesday tire pressure reading of the care states that the 2 front tires are at 39 Psi and the back are at 27 and 30 Psi. No tire light came on to let me know that tires were low. I checked the tires with a tire gauge and for sure they were low and over inflated. But now what worried me was that the tire pressure sensor was not reading to alert me they were low. The inside was not cleaned i had to clean the car. I called the store and the manager was very unconcerned, tried to talk fast and professional but was rude the whole time talking over me, I let her know it was unacceptable and said what was, I let her know the what I was meaning and she started telling me about hot and cold and how tires go up and down ( I already knew this). She was rude in my opinion and unconcerning. 2nd car with car max and this is the worst experience. Manager was making excuses instead of apologizing or sympathizing. if I could give no stars i would. read more

This place is whack! I don't how much time I have wasted going to a CM property--one in my city and another nearly two hours away--to look at a car that they were supposed to have, and it isn't there. Also--the call center told me there was not a CM in Shreveport, LA. It is on 765 Brook Hollow pretty as you please. I was just in it, where I was told again that a car showing on the internet isn't there... This follows a visit once in which I was test driving a car in Tyler at CM on the loop. As I was pulling the car into the lot, a salesman yelled: "that car is sold." Done with them for good. read more

Brock went above and beyond helping us purchase our new car. I would highly recommend coming here and asking for Brock.

Went in to test drive & buy a car I had transported to Tyler the financing and paperwork was complete online . These people were so rude and incompetent I never dealt with the same person twice they resubmitted my credit information 9 times kept asking me for different payslips giving me the runaround all week long they needed something "BOTTOM LINE "That was the WORST car buying experience ever and I didnt get to look at the car, test drive the car or buy the car and I WONT EVER GO BACK THERE! I had a really positive experience with this CarMax location. I got a fair price for my 2020 Camry Hybrid LE. The process was not as good of a feeling though. I had a new associate helping me, and there were all kinds of issues with the computers, the printers, and the processing of my sale. This caused there to be a much longer delay than was needed. Fortunately, I was kind and patient and did not make our associate feel anything but gratitude. I wondered why this new person didn't feel as if he could ask for help from others who had been there longer. read more

Big shout out to Bryan Johnston and the team at CarMax Tyler Tx. Our entire transaction was handled with zero pressure and 100% professionalism before and after the sale. My experience with Tyler Carmax was pretty terrible. The day that the car arrived at the dealership, I was asked to come for a test drive. For the next 7 business days, I heard nothing about the status of the car and no one communicated any interest in selling it to me. Their online trade in offer was $1300 different from Kelly blue book (and I acknowledged a dent in the bumper), but they would not budge, even though they did not view the car until the title was signed and I gave them the keys. I was ready to go elsewhere, but I was weary of the whole process...(and I loved the new car). read more

Rules are ridiculous at this place. Can't test drive more than 2 vehicles, only have 20 minutes max to test drive (which is probable enough but still.. feel rushed?) You are not allowed to be on the car lot without the salesman hovering your shadow, so forget feeling comfortable while you check out the inventory. One of the cars on the lot was posted for sale but it can't be test driven or sold because the dealership "didn't have all the paperwork from the previous seller and it wasn't ready for the public". So why was the car on the lot, mixed in with the other inventory, and shown to us when inquired upon. Iv never felt so guarded and uncomfortable at a dealership and I won't ever do business with a place like this. read more

I had the BEST experience selling my car here. I have never sold a car before and I didn't have much knowledge about the process. The whole process took about 40 minutes. It was painless and easy. Great car buying experience!!! None of the stress that goes with buying a car at a dealership . But still took a bit too long. Tho it was a busy Saturday. Very satisfied and will plan to purchase there again when the time comes. They could upgrade their coffee... it was nasty read more

Tyler tx carmax has the worst customer service ever they scheduled you an appointment you het there you still wait an hr they say they have no help but they are literally standing around laughing and talking about crap that dose not pertain to work read more

If you live in Louisiana, calculate the registration costs on your own. They say they will figure everything for you, but you are responsible for the difference when they pay short. The check they sent was $200 less than what was needed to register my vehicle. A professional car company should know how to calculate registration costs in a state 90 miles away, or at least get within 3%, not 12%. Everyone I spoke with had the same attitude. You signed the contract now deal with it. There was no admittance of error or apology. Apparently this must be their common method of ripping off customers from neighboring states. Never again, CarMax! read more

Negative 7 stars. They are just as crooked as a 1980's used car dealer. I have proof. I bought a 2016 SUV. 7 months later all 4 tires are bald, one is flat. The battery is dead. The battery is dated 2013!!!!! Pretty sure ford didn't put a 3 yr old battery on at the factory. The tires, completely worn out. 20k miles and they are gone huh. Manager states they are OK and car checks out. Yea right. After they swap the tires and battery and who knows what else. Now I have to pay for 4 tires, a battery, and have an independent mechanic look at everything else to see what they stole off it. Geez, anything not nailed down. read more

i don't get it and probably never will but its labeled poor practice. I dealt with Carmax for some years. I intentionally wanted to escaped the games and gimmicks that other car dealerships play. Yes in my experiences as of approx. 6 years ago, Carmax was the leading dealership in my book...no hassle. On 8/18/2018 it had been approx. a week of going back through a car buying experience with Carmax. they ran my credit approx. 4 times due to my likings for 4 different models. they made me aware its their policy and i accepted. i visited the tyler, tx store on 8/18 and this day was exciting. they put the yellow ribbon on the shiny black audi i qualified and got approved for, my insurance co charged $100 for the add on, i submitted my down pymt via debit, signed all dmv and legal contracts etc. the manager kept me inform approx. 5 times that she love Audi and if i didn't purchase the car she will (strange). FINALLY, after some hours they placed 2 sets of keys in my hand. i grabbed my belongings, thanked everyone and headed outside toward MY NEW CAR!!!!!! I sat in the driver seat, then an employee came out and confiscated the keys from me and went inside. I also went back inside to the vending machine. The Audi lover manager escorted me into a cold empty dark room. Stated CARMAX HAS EVERY RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE AND THEY DONT WANT TO SELL YOU A CAR!!! I asked for a reason and she shoved her shoulder I DONT KNOW. She gave me a cust service number and when i called......IT WAS CLOSED FOR THE WEEKEND. this was the coldest shot i ever received in public. custormers filled the area and i was embarrassed. My son witnessed it. THIS humiliation has never happened to me, let alone i had to wait for my down pymt to be reversed while custormers starred. I was burning inside but had to hold my tears until i got somewhere behind a parking lot employee vehicle. then to make matters worse, i was too embarrassed and hurt to get my private paperwork out of the new car. where my info is located.....i don't know. they were eager to come get me but sent me home in a uber. i couldn't tell if i was on a blind date or on a correctional penitentiary experience. my family members comforted me at home but are furious. at the end of the day....I don't know what i personally did to Carmax but they wooped my bleeeeeeppp. Folks beware!!! Carmax has changed to Bob's automotive. Or don't wear Burberry perfume and sandals cause Carmax is in their feelings 2018. read more

Cher'ron Bobo-Pollard & Courney Thomas. Just wanted to express my Thanks in this review. I have bought many other automobiles, and also a couple from Carmax, But this time was the best experience and as well the quickest I have ever had. Since having totaled my last car due to a heart attack and collision, my wife and I were not in any mood for any games, These two professionals had us in and out of there in about 1 hour, including financing approval. Professional, Integrity, Pleasant experience buying a car from these two fine people, and Carmax! I truly thank you and the process. read more

Carmax will rip you off if you sell a car to them. I took my Toyota Camry to them after seeing several of my model year Camrys on their website selling for $12,000 to $13,500 that had double or more the mileage of 38,000 miles on my Camry. And my Camry was in excellent condition inside and outside. It had been kept in a garage. After waiting around a long time they finally made me an offer of $6,100. That was insulting to my intelligence. I walked out. read more

I have bought many cars in my lifetime and HAVE NEVER had a worse experience. Does Car Max in Tyler not teach any customer service at all to their reps? We arrived at 5:40 for a 6 oclock appointment. After the salesman brought the car around he took our DL to get everything ready for a test drive. Then realized he did not have the keys anymore. We waited over an hour while the entire (almost) staff looked for them. At 7 pm they found them in another sales person's pocket. Was this their idea of a funny prank??? After a test drive where the sales person could not answer 1 question about the car, we went back to discuss the sale. We had guaranteed funding from our personal bank with specific numbers that we needed to stay within. I told them specifically what we were doing. Our sales person could not get the computer program to work and had to call help over several times. I realize he was probably new and we tried to be patient. The last coworker that came over to help him was extremely rude and even implied that we printed the papers from the bank ourselves. After being there 2 and a half hours we announced that if we couldn't get the numbers where we needed them we couldn't buy that car. They just said ok bye. No mention of trying to see if there was another car on the lot that would work and certainly no apologies for our wasted time. I realize that the new Carmax way of selling cars on the internet has taken most of the human element out of the process - but come on! If you're going to have a brick & mortar store - at least train them a little customer service! read more

If I could put a half star I would. The absolute worst experience I have had trying to get a car. I was already preapproved before I even went in. My salesman was newer but a very hospitable person. Long story of it, all of the paperwork was signed, financing done, and I had left in it (got it for my daughter). They call me and asked for me to come back because I had missed a signature. The manager lady met me at the door and took off with my paperwork. I saw her talking to my salesman outside, then she comes in to tell me that they cannot sell me the car because I am buying for my daughter. All this after it was all signed and approved. So I have to put my daughter on the loan. Well we do that and the APR doubled and the payment went up $100. She said oh well we can give you $500 off the car. That did nothing and then I was told I would have to trade my other car. That was never even discussed. Needless to say I walked out. Called corporate and they have done nothing. Not to mention the 100 hits to my already crappy credit. Anyways I do not recommend this place and they will never get mine or anyone I know business. read more

We were extremely pleased with the service and attention we received to purchase our vehicle. No hassle, up front, and knowledgeable on every vehicle we inquired on. Our sales rep was Whitney who took the time to walk us thru the process. She helped us find a lender with even better interest rate and made sure our questions were answered if not by her but with someone else. Time in between demo driving and paperwork it was a total of 3 1/2 hours till we left in our vehicle. There was a slight ding on the back panel and they stated that they would take care of it in the service department. And did they ever! They gave us a loaner equivalent to our vehicle and fixed the ring. GM from Dallas was in contact with us to make sure everything was going smoothly for us. Glad to see Tyler has this team working for them! read more

Great experience.....No pressure and when I found something wrong they fixed it immediately.
