Easy to shop, no pressure. Great selection cars and the disclose what they know about them (I believe they do, anyway). Carfax friendly.

My experience with Carmax this past May was excellent. I stopped by with a specific car in mind. My sales guy was Mr. Thomas. He was attentive, easy to deal with and just down right hilarious (great sense of humor). I didn't feel pressured to buy. I purchased my car on the same day and everything went through smoothly and pretty fast. The administrative staff is on point. I was in and out of there within an hour and a half. Good job, Carmax! read more

John Brown did a great job. There was a bit of back office confusion on the front end as the car I wanted was at a different CarMax. The transfer process was a bit bumpy, but once the car arrived, it was just what I was looking for. read more

Very impressive people. No hassle no haggling . The sales man Charles offered to give me his personal car so I could pass the Georgia drivers license test. The Nissan is like new car. All friends and family are very impressed too. They make it very easy. You must try them . read more

I might be the only customer who has had so much trouble with this location. The car is a lemon - have had it for 6 weeks and driven it 12 times!! Service staff is helpful but can only go so far - Location manager is MIA. Can't resolve the issue of returning/exchanging car if you can't speak with management. Will only buy a car from Carfax dealers - at least you get some kind of guarantee from Carfax - not just 7 days which is what you get from Carmax read more

Mark was absolutely amazing. I had a 2008 Dodge avenger with over almost 200,000 miles and he was very helpful, patient, and considerate to all of my questions and concerns. I am so glad I made this choice to go to CarMax and I received my 2016 Nissan Sentra which I absolutely love and adore if it was not for Mark being so patient with me through the many questions and concerns I had I don't think I would be this pleased with my very first purchase. Even though I had some help from another associate finishing out my deal I must give Mark majority of the credit. He listened to all of my needs and was more than just a car salesman he was a compassionate person who cared more for me than just my wallet. Thank you. read more

Omg!! Carmax is terrible. I just went to trade in my car I bought from carmax 2 years ago to buy another carmax car and they offered my 8,000 dollars less than they are selling tthe exact car on their lot. My dad owned a car lot for years and the most we eVer marked up a car was 3,000 dollars. Everyone has to make money I get it, but they only pay their sales people 150 dollars per car while they gouge the buyer with an 8,000 dollar mark up, from where they bought it. Do yourself a favor and go to a regular car lot, I know it's More of a hassle but at least your not getting ripped off. I Was shocked to find out they were doing this. The normal person would never know this is a bad thing, but I grew up in this business and I will never purchase another car from carmax again. No wonder the sales people are so terrible and know Nothing about the cars, they treat their employees terrible. So they make 7,850 dollars off your car and the sales person who does all the work makes 150.00 dollars. That's terrible! read more

I've been to countless dealerships and service departments over the years and this Carmax is by far the best. My family and I have bought several cars over here throughout the years for a reason. They shipped over my dream car (a 2017 Tiguan) and I we able to get it in a few hours! Billy (our salesperson) gave me one of the best car buying experiences I have ever had. He had my best interest the entire time and made everything so simple. Steve in the business office was also outstanding and made all of the paperwork clear to me. I brought my car to get checked my VW the next week and Carmax covered all the costs. Additionally, I received the Carmax Care Plan (which is a must) and I took my car back this week to get a sensor fixed (which are doing free of cost due to their warranty). They had to order a part so it took a few days to get fixed but Jay and LaToya went above and beyond to give me a larger loaner car I could use while my car was getting worked on (because I had to move the same week into a new apartment). While getting your car serviced can be frustrating, Carmax staff's customer service was beyond amazing - especially when they have to deal with several demanding customers each day. Thank you all for making my life less stressful this week! read more

I purchased a 2013 Jeep Wrangler from them last week. There were some issues I wanted resolved prior to completing the purchase and the salesman said no problem, we will complete a "To Do List" and they will get resolved to your satisfaction. Guess what... I should have known better. No call back unless I call. They still have not addressed my issue and have no apparent desire to do so. My advice is to either buy elsewhere or to not complete your transaction until the areas you want resolved are completed. Do not purchase with a subsequent "To Do List". read more

Absolute nightmare of an experience. Purchased a car in Jan 2021, cash. Brought the car in a couple times for minor maintenance issues. The GPS was not transferring to my current state. I brought it in, as they told me it would be an hour - hour and a half appt. I waited at the car dealership for over 2.5 hours; they offered me a loaner car. It was a friday and it was approaching 5pm and I know service doesn't work on weekends. I went up the dealership to pick up my car and the employees in service said "my radio went white" and they had to order a part and it'd take 2 weeks to come in. My entire head unit of my car didn't work. My radio, GPS, my air. The next day my car wouldn't start at all. In fact, the key fob wouldn't even unlock my car. They towed my car that Monday. In the meantime, they told me "I could Uber" to the dealership and they had a minivan loaner for me. My car sat in their shop for entire month, 4 entire weeks. They finally agreed that I could roll the cash that I spent into a new car because they knew my car was going to be in the shop for a longer time as they were waiting for a part to come in. (For OVER a month?). I get a new car, it was actually $1,000 less than my previous car. I didn't get any money back. 4 days later, in my new car, the check engine light came on. Even though I was told the car sat in quality control for 4 days. I return the car, as is, and they return my money minus the taxes that I paid on the car. That's over $3,000. It was $3,015 to be exact. They said because that money went to the state, I don't get it back. Even though their policy is a full money return. It's on the documents that I signed, it's on their website. I even have in text writing from the Sales Manager at the Roswell GA location, that I was getting a full money return. They withheld the taxes that I paid on the car. Illegal and completely wrong. Shame on Carmax. What's $3,000 to a multi million dollar company, whereas to me, a single woman, that's 2 months rent. I would NEVER recommend carmax, to even my worst enemy. read more

I recently purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Carmax Roswell. I was blown away by the professional, courteous, and supportive service I received throughout the purchase process. We noticed an unforeseen scratch on the bumper of the original vehicle we wanted to purchase. Our outstanding sales rep, Bradley Hardin, brought it to his managers attention and the manager allowed us to find a similar vehicle anywhere in the Carmax network and they shipped it to Atlanta for free. Upon test driving the vehicle we noticed that the infotainment screen was delaminating. Once again, our outstanding sales rep, Bradley Hardin, brought it to his managers attention and the manager Kay Johnson agreed to repair the screen. Unfortunately, the replacement screen was backordered and delayed. Nonetheless, the Carmax team of Bradly and Kay kept me informed and updated every step of the way. Once the vehicle was repaired, we were notified and came in to complete the purchase. Although this was not your typical purchase process, the Carmax team of Bradley and Kay made this a rewarding experience. We love our new car!!! Thanks, Carmax Roswell team for a job well done! read more

I bought a 2007 VW GTI from Carmax in Roswell in March 2012. In May 2012 it started making a clicking/popping noise when turning so I took it back to Carmax Roswell in May 2012. They could not seem to find anything wrong with it but they did tell me that it was leaking oil, but I would have to schedule another appointment and bring it back becuase they couldn't look at the cause of that problem during that appointment. I should have known then that the customer service was non-existent. Then white smoke started coming out the tailpipe. So all serious issues within 2.5 months of buying a car that was supposedly meticulously inspected. I guess Carmax cannot count and missed a few points on my 121-point inspection. This was my favorite part of a conversation between me and the service manager. He told me that their mechanics were not set up to look for/fix problems like mine. I'm sorry, what did you just say? Mechanics not set up to look for problems on a car? Where did you hire these people, the circus? I thought it was a joke. I ended up taking the car to VW and they found the cause of the problems within a few hours. Actually all 3 of my problems stemmed from 1 problem that Carmax seemed to overlook in their "inspection". The only thing they were good at was taking my money when I paid for the car in full. I would not reccommend buying a car from them becuase they do not stand behind their "products" and certainly would not reccommend taking a car to be diagnosed for problems, repaired, or have maintenence done, etc. from this company EVER! read more

Rodney is all I need to say. I stopped in and have generally good experiences at CarMax. Employees like Rodney prevent companies from going to the next level. Attitude, couldn't care less, and bored out of his mind when approaching us. Advice to CarMax: trim the fat. read more

Came in today to get an estimate on my elderly mother's car. Was quoted a wait time of 30 to 45 minutes. Two hours later we're still waiting - hasn't been touched by a Carmax rep yet. I bought my car from CarMax 5 years ago with MaxCare. My experience was very good, both with sale service and warranty service. No haggle pricing made the experience very comfortable and nice. Carmax was The Best, start to finish. I am a senior citizen and my husband recently passed away. When I needed a new car, I thought I'd be a sitting duck for every fast-talking car salesman in Georgia. I looked on the Carmax website and found exactly the car I wanted - in Massachusetts. Contacted my local Carmax and the representative there walked me through the process - it could not have been easier. The price you see at the outset is the price you ultimately pay, no surprises. My representative kept in touch with me during the time my car was transported from Massachusetts to Georgia, so I knew where it was every step of the way. It was even kind of fun, tracking it down the east coast on its way to me! When it arrived I was given an opportunity to look it over and test drive it before the papers were signed. If I didn't like it, I didn't have to buy it. And here's a quote from my own mechanic who inspected it for me: "This vehicle is in excellent condition. No leaks, no codes, very clean." Can't get a better review than that! read more

We were looking for a cross-over SUV for our daughter (first car). We knew we didn't want to purchase a brand new car, but wanted something newer that offered all of the safety features like airbags, anti-lock brakes, etc. First off, I love how the lot is organized. All vehicles are arranged by classification, so you're not looking all over the lot for three or four various models to compare. Charles helped us out and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, without being pushy. We found a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe sport and it was IMMACULATE. I couldn't believe how clean this car was. After taking it for a test drive, we signed on the dotted line. It's the PERFECT car for our daughter and she was quite surprised!!! There were a few recall items pending on the car that had just been issued by Hyundai, but with a Hyundai dealership right next door, we had it taken care of within a few days. If ever I'm in the market to buy a used car again, I won't look anywhere else! read more

After buying a car from them , I booked a repair 3 weeks in advance and when i turned up for the appointment, the part had not been ordered.

They did not have the car I wanted on the lot. Was shown a few others, but I knew what I wanted. Carline and I sat down and went through the computer to see if we could find it. Almost went by it, when I spotted it. It was in Norcross. It was in Roswell in 2 days. I knew that Carmax is not a place that negotiates, which is why I went there. Got the color and car I wanted and an amount for my trade in which I wish was more, but it was reasonable. Great experience there, and also in and out of the billing department with very polite people there also. Would highly recommend. read more

My best car buying experience EVER! Came in and reviewed the inventory. Went to 2 other dealers--usual games and nonsense. Came back to CarMax. 5 hours later!!!! Bought a lemon Lexus there 3 years ago. Broke down 3 times leaving me stranded. Extended warranty covers little. I've spent over $1000.00 and am waiting on what it will cost now.. It needs the gas tank removed! When I called the roswell service manager, all he said was, " you liked it when you bought it. aka too bad". He hung up on me when I didn't like his answer. I probably would have traded it in for another vehicle (Purchase), but I will never do business with them again. read more

I bought a $54K Audi there and took to a specialist within the five days you have following purchase. The car had been in an accident and all but the doors on the passenger side had been painted. The axel had been replaced. There was gravel in the engine compartment and the computer diagnostics printed out 13 pages of error codes. I informed the dealer of the findings and they refunded my money, yet I still see the car on the website, advertised for the same amount and NO disclosures. Where is the integrity of the dealer? Why isn't this car still for sale? Are they waiting for someone else to come and buy it? I wouldn't ever shop there again. read more

This location was horrible to deal with. They would not recognize my husband's power of attorney. They required that we bring my mother-in-law in to sign the pink slip. She has dementia. I am updating this review due to a courtesy call I received from the General Manager. I appreciate any company that takes the time to ensure that all customers are taken care of and apologizes when something went wrong. Nothing can undo the initial experience that I had at CarMax; however, maybe by vocalizing my experience management will take the time to address some the issues that arose during my visit (chief among them, having my credit score run without being properly warned). read more

EDIT TO REPLY TO JENNIFER: why would I bring my car to you, when the service guy I spoke too (WHO WAS NOT THE SERVICE MANAGER) was extremely rude, and wouldn't honor my warranty despite it being not even 24 hours past it's end. I'm not an idiot- my coverage through your extended warranty has a 300 Deductible. It doesn't cost that much to fix it but damn right you guys wanna charge me way over that so I pay the full deductible. Shady business. The only good part of your business is the service manager being a decent human being and very kind. Bought my car The beginning of August. Went on vacation 2 weeks, came back, my car wouldn't start. Carmax had it towed into their shop and they Fixed it. Okay, first red flag. Today, one day after my warranty ended, my window is now stuck down. I have put 86 miles on this car, haven't even made the first payment yet, and it's needed repair now twice. Because it's one day after my warranty has ended , I'm responsible for the entire thing. Carmax sells shitty used cars that are not checked well enough before going on the lot. Regretting my purchase from Carmax and wish I could return the car and get my old car back. (I traded in a 2015 brand new car-and now I have a piece of shit) I will not take my car into this Carmax for service after explaining my issue to the service department & they just didnt care. I'm taking it to a mechanic nearby who told me his lot is always full of Carmax cars because they're awful. Surprise surprise. I'll be selling this car as soon as possible and will NEVER go to another Carmax again. read more

It's not often that you spend a lot of money and walk away with a huge smile on your face. That's the way it is with Carmax in Roswell. From the time you walk in the door until you sign on the dotted line, you feel at home. You're greeted like a friend and you're treated like a friend. No haggle, no hassle, no pressure. They listen and they react positively with experience and professionalism. We had one service visit after our car purchase. The service department was quick to respond and solved our problem immediately. Would we buy another car from Carmax in Roswell. A resounding YES!! read more

We finally decided to complete our car purchase and we really liked the car at Carmax above all the other ones we were considering. I called up the rude sales guy and he argued with me about giving me a piece of paper which had our financing options on it. I hung up on him and called the store. After speaking with a couple of people, I was directed to a super experienced senior sales associate who was extremely helpful and courteous. He put everything together and scheduled a time for us to come in and sign the paperwork. The whole thing took just one and a half hours; one for the car buying record books! We completed our sale and we are now enjoying our slightly used, but brand new to us great deal of a car. Thanks, Joe, for turning this situation around and living up to the Carmax reputation. I think I would definitely try Carmax again in the future. I did deduct a star because I had to change sales guys midstream and I think Carmax should be more selective about who they hire and keep on staff. read more

AVOID CARMAX ON ALPHARETTA HIGHWAY IN ROSWELL GEORGIA AT ALL COSTS!!!!! My Kia Sportage died a few weeks ago which forced us to buy a new and larger family car sooner than anticipated. We immediately jumped to carmax since they could bring a car in out of state for us as well as be rest assured the car was mechanically sound. We purchased outright via check a 2016 Ford Expedition el. Although the purchase process went very smoothly we hit a brick wall upon having the car inspected. We took the car to our local auto shop and had them give us a good once over so we could tell carmax what had to be done (if anything) for no cost via their 30 day auto service policy following a purchase. There was no major work to be done however the tire life was questionably close to the required pierce stage gone requiring carmax to put new tires on the car for no additional cost. My husband made the appointment and dropped the car off. The appointment was at 8am and we were told the car would be done by 1030 or so. Jon called from work, now the car would not be ready until 1230. No problem. He called again, car would not be ready until 230, this continued with no explanation until 430 when Jon called and said he was coming to get the car done or not. Upon arrival no customer service was given. No straight answers as to why a few things (alignment, tire balance, new windshield wiper) took all day long even with repeated calls. To our dismay the tires also measured just over the required sale tire life. Josh, the manager in the service department was called in and told Jon he would give us the tires at their cost price to make amends for being jerked around all day. Jon was to wait for a call the following day (Friday, a week after purchasing the car). Jon waited, no call. He called at 6pm while we were on our way to dinner. He was informed that josh was on his way out the door. Jon told whomeever picked the phone up that he was angry, had been forgotten once again, and if they wanted our continued service josh better pick the phone up and answer his questions. After rudely being put on hold josh answered. Jon reiterated that he had waited for a call all day, and now once again he was forced to chase carmax around for an answer. All we needed to know was the cost of the tires and when to expect them in. Josh told Jon he would leave a message for another manager in the service department who would coordinate with Jon Monday morning. Jon specifically asked if josh could confirm someone would call him given their already horrible reputation for not returning calls. Josh confirmed "not to worry". Monday comes and goes. Jon called once again on Tuesday demanding to know what is going on, demanding to talk to a higher manager. No customer service has been offered to us since leaving their store with the new car. The store manager Kenny green talks to Jon and apoalgizes and tells him that the tires will be taken care of. He will contact him Wednesday. We have had it. Today is Wednesday. Today Kenny green has told us the best he can do is give us a $500 credit toward the tires. At this point we cannot take them at their word for anything! We didn't expect free tires. We were happy to pay their cost as originally agreed to. No one could get us Jose numbers or order the tires. Well now we want free tires and to never work with them again! Even after Jon told Kenny green that we will no longer purchase cars from them ( Jon needs a new car come October and has purchase in full with cash two other cars in the past from the same location). Kenny green is willing to lose a lifetime customer over a few hundred dollars, a horrible customer service. What is he willing to do next? He is a terrible manager and should be removed. After all of this, Kenny green did nothing else but hang up mid sentence on my husband. What kind of store manager does that?! Avoid carmax on Alpharetta highway in Roswell ga at all costs. They only want your money and then drop you at the wayside when it comes to upholding their end of auto service for 30 days free. read more
