Our sales rep Sylvia was the worst representative I've ever encountered. She never thanked us for purchasing a car from them. We opted to do our own financing. We left the car there for a few days while we obtained payment from our credit union. There was excess wax in the fender flare of the vehicle we purchased. Our sales rep Sylvia agreed to have two areas I pointed out corrected by the detail department before we took delivery of the vehicle. We set up an "Express Delivery" for Friday night at 7:30pm. Sylvia made it seem that she would be there. We showed up, no Sylvia. We waited in the business office area for 25 minutes before I asked what the hold up was. The person said, no worries we'll have you out of here in 15 minutes. We were asked for our emails, they tried to email us links to sign paperwork we hadn't seen electronically. The links didn't work. By 8:15pm I asked why we couldn't just sign on a computer. I finally got them to agree. We signed everything on the computer and went out to the car at 8:30pm. The wax marks were still there. I texted my sales rep and she said she reached out to a manager. No manager ever got in touch with me. The next morning I went out to the car to find water inside the drivers side inner tail light. There's a hairline crack by the edge. I texted Sylvia and got no response. I called 3 days in a row for a sales manager. Left messages with Jiovanni. Got no response. I finally texted Sylvia after 4 days of no response and said we were going to return the car. Finally, Sylvia texted and said service was supposed to call. I asked her several times for a manager to call and finally got through to Phil. Hopefully Phil addresses this experience with Sylvia because she never apologized for the issues with the car, never thanked us for buying a car, nothing. read more

I had been shopping for a car for a few weeks and could not find exactly what I was looking for. My husband's boss recommended CarMax and explained that I could look online and have the car shipped into my store, with no obligation to buy. Since I knew exactly what I wanted, I went thru the CarMax website and found a few cars that I liked within the shipping radius. Looking for a car isn't normally a pleasant experience for me because I hate the pushy salesmen and the back and forth negotiations with the price, financing, etc. When I called CarMax, I spoke to Jessica Sanchez. She explained to me how everything worked and we set up an appointment for me to stop by and look at a few cars online. I was able to pick out the one that I liked and have it shipped in, free of charge. I was so excited when she called and said it was in for me to look at. Although I loved it, the price was a bit higher than what I wanted to spend. As much as I loved the car, I found a similar car at the dealership by me and felt that I should go look at it before committing myself. Jessica was great when I told her that I was going to see another Challenger and did not pressure me at all to buy the one from her. I figured dealerships usually work with the price, so I might have better luck there. Turns out that the dealership was a bust....to put it nicely. When I let Jessica know that I wanted to buy the car from CarMax, she put forth extra effort going thru all of the financing options with me. She was able to calculate the different interest rates with different down payments for me, which was great because I wanted to make sure read more

Made an appointment to see a car. Car was ready and test drive was fine. We get back and I ask where a certain feature of the car is located as it was listed as a feature in their description. The salesperson swore the feature was on the car. I asked if they had confirmed against the original manufacturer sticker. "We don't do that, we do our own evaluation". Well let me tell you, I do look at the original sticker and knew the feature (among several others) was NOT on the car . The salesperson got a little snarky after that and said they would confirm and re-evaluate the price. Well they did confirm the feature was not on the car but the price didn't change. I'm not paying for a package not on a car. Oh, and their price was almost $5k above the sticker!! Down the street was a similar car for almost $10k less. They get two stars because they are the only place to sell your used car - even the dealerships tell you to go there. And sometimes you get great money because they do their own evaluation of the features, not bothering to validate against the OE sticker. read more

I recently purchased a vehicle from Carmax. I sales rep was Clint Rogers along with Chris Rauschberger, I had the best car buying experience ever. Clint's customer service is not only wanting the customer to have a pleasant experience but to ensure they are happy with the car they have chosen to purchase. He walked me through the whole process Clint was there every step of the way. He wasn't pushy like most sales reps he was patient and very kind. When I went in the sign the paperwork, Clint went over the car details as well as the options that were available. He explained everything to me until I was comfortable with my choices. I can't speak highly enough of the Business Office Staff they are amazing. Before Signing the contract everything was explained to me in detail. Which I really appreciate that process is very overwhelming. What really will keep me going back is the welcoming attitudes of the dealership. You are greeted with a smile from the time you walk in until the time you leave. Get car here and you will feel great about your purchae. Cynthia Parish read more

Think of this place as just a place that's holding your vehicle. If you have good credit, finance through your bank, and remember to have YOUR BANK run a KBB Resale Value check. Make sure you get all of the specifications on the car. Carmax salesmen will try and input an older model's information in *their* KBB Resale Value check to make the resale value lower of the vehicle lower, which in turn lowers how much your bank will cover you.... which means Carmax will have you pay more out of pocket cash from the deficit of *their* KBB check. I have SchoolsFirst FCU and received my quote before going to Carmax, and when CJ ran *his* check, the quote was about $3,000 less than what my bank told me, which would have made me come out of pocket $3K. Remember to check your keys battery life before you purchase your vehicle. I recently JUST found my twin key that has the remote start, and I can't use it because the battery has died without me ever using it. Hope this is helpful and not too confusing. Don't let them intimidate or con you. read more

I didn't know what to expect with CarMax when I went in. I'd seen the commercials and was a bit leery. Plain and simple, used car dealers freak me out. But this place was different. I took my 2007 car in to try to sell it. Our rep, Chris Rauschenberger, was the best! He fully explained the whole process with no bullcrap. There was no bait and switch, no sideshow. Chris took us on a tour of the facility, which is bustling with energy and is clean as an operating room. CarMax has an enormous mechanics' garage in the back where they do all sorts of work on cars at very competitive prices. I might even take my current cars there for service. Anyway, our car was examined and appraised and the offer came back significantly higher than I was expecting. Jackie in the finance office was great, and Chris stayed with us the whole time. They cut us a check and that was that. I highly recommend this CarMax office in Oxnard. Special kudos to Chris and Jackie! read more

Last year I purchased a vehicle on craigslist, it has served it's purpose but needed to be replaced. I had heard many great things about Carmax so I thought I would see what all text hype is about. I walked into the Carmax & was greeted by a consultant by the name of Kiara. She assisted me with getting an appraisal on my car 2006 Altima and helped me find a replacement. I wasn't sure what I wanted, so Kiara helped me narrow my search. It came down to a Audi S5 & VW Passat. The Passat was in Las Vegas but still was a free transfer. I decided to have the Passat transferred. Kiara kept me updated every step of the way. She made me feel important and not just another number. When the Passat arrived it was perfect. I am so glad I went to Carmax and highly recommend working with Kiara. She has a great demeanor & her customer service is excellent. Thanks again Kiara! read more

Yessica at the service counter likes to argue with customers over inspections done at the original dealership, that show CarMaxs is at fault because they're the ones who maintain the regular services. But to state to a customer "do you have proof" to be some argumentative over a customer concern when CarMax is the one doing regular maintenance and you're telling them no I'm not taking it back to the manufacturer to fix, when you're the ones who created the problem and they stated so and gave me photos. Always get your diagnostics done before going in this place! They want to rattle off numbers and not what the issues are. Noones trying to argue with an underpaid unhappy employee, when I'm paying to just have the repairs done correctly and in a timely manner her attitude is disrespectful and disgusting. read more

I went to carmax because my grandparents told me to go sell my car to them that I don't have to buy a car. I met my sales consultant Albert and he was AWESOME. He was so informative and friendly.we even test drive a car even though he knew I didn't want to drive one, just because I told him i thought that the BMW E350 was my DREAM CAR and knew I couldn't afford it and am not looking for a new car. He informed me about the market and how carmax worked and the TRANSPERANCY of the business model.everyone there seemed to be happy to work there and so friendly. I got an awesome offer on my car and had a great experience. Thanks carmax and thank you Albert! read more

Even though we ultimately purchased our vehicle elsewhere, we had a really positive experience with CarMax. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout the process. They were easy to communicate with and made us feel comfortable asking questions while we explored our options. One thing we really appreciated was that they shipped the vehicle we were interested in to our local store so we could see it in person. That made the process much more convenient and showed how willing they were to help customers find the right car. Overall, we had a great experience with their team and would definitely consider CarMax again in the future! read more

This is the worst car dealer in the US. The Sales associates are all blatant liars and give highly inaccurate information about everything and I mean everything. Not only did they lie to me but are total frauds making me pay $799 to transfer a vehicle from Oxnard to OR and after 3 weeks they don't know where the vehicle is and are unwilling to refund my transfer fee for a bogus transfer that was never going to happen. Thieves and these people are so unethical I am lost for words so all I can do is warn any potential customers to stay away from Carmax in Oxnard CA, actually stay far far away from CARMAX full stop, such a dishonest Auto dealer! read more

I was reading some of the other views on here and noticed a few negative ones. Most surprisingly, however, was the review on Kiara. Don't believe the negative review. My fiance and I came in to appraise our Jetta and we worked with Kiara. She was knowledgeable, polite, and NOT pushy or greedy. We got a 7 day offer for our car, and she encouraged us to take all the time we needed before we made our decision. She did ask if we were looking at getting into a different car. I told her we weren't, and she didn't try to push a sale or anything. She was very personable and definitely worth the five star rating in customer service! Thank you Kiara! read more

I bought a car at Carmax a few years ago and had a good experience. This time was even better! Dee helped me out and was really knowledgeable! She was also super friendly and made me feel comfortable right away. Buying a car can be stressful for me but Dee took the pressure off the situation. She narrowed down my options and even showed me some that I missed. She even helped me with some paperwork that I was confused about! I'm really impressed and I feel good about my new car! Thank you! read more

I had a positive experience with CarMax, the salesperson Chris was very helpful, and not pushy at all, and he was very knowledgeable about the Lexus that I purchased. Christina in the finance department was very nice and explained the whole financial aspect of the purchase to me. I got a good price on the car, and I didn't have to worry about CarMax adding any extra fees. The whole process went very smoothly, I would recommend CarMax to anyone who is looking to buy a used car. read more

He was very helpful and I didn't feel rushed or stressed during the time I was there. I liked their process and would definitely recommend Carmax to friends and family. They also have a great trade in program for your vehicles, which was a great surprise. I will be a returning customer of Carmax for my next car! Thanks Carmax for making car buying easy! read more

I like that some people think that KBB is the tool to auto buying/selling.....well news flash everyone.... it's not.... It's a computer program that's all holds zero weight.
