Thank you Carmax and Kailey! You really made buying my first car a great experience. Kailey was so helpful and knowledgeable, and so sweet to send a post card to follow up. Talk about all star employee and service! read more

Sam was great. Friendly. Very patient. Not pushy. Professional. No haggle prices are nice.

Dee was my sales consultant. She was very professional and explained everything thoroughly. I told her exactly what I was looking for. She was able to research and find the perfect vehicle for me and have it shipped from another location. It has everything I was looking for, as far as accessories. The color is on point! Very smooth transaction and stress free. I would highly recommend you go and see her when you purchase your vehicle from this location. She will even put a bow on your new vehicle for you!!! Thanks Dee! I love my new car!! read more

Visited CarMax for the first time yesterday and I must say it was a very pleasant experience. The rep who helped me (Richard) was very knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and let me test drive several cars. "Thank you" is not enough for the high level of service he provided me. Needless to say, I purchased a car and walked away very happy. Even signing my paperwork was painless. Awesome staff! Awesome service. Thank you CarMax! read more

Enjoyed the car shopping experience at CarMax compared to the car dealers. Plenty of inventory to choose from. The no-price-negotiating makes things so much more relaxing and trusting. The car trade-in offer was lower than I wanted, so we passed on that. This is the second car that we have bought from CarMax, and would do it again. read more

Can't say 1 negative thing about this place. Salesman Saul was with me most of the day as the Carmax appraiser put together a trade-in price and I picked out another car to purchase. Didn't know what kind of car I wanted but Saul was patient nonetheless. After I purchased the car I wanted, it didn't run exactly as it should. I was able to return the car to Carmax service dept and they arranged for the Ford dealership to fix the problem all in one day. Service dept was easy to work with and professional. Would I trade in a car and buy another from Carmax? Without a doubt! I had a very pleasant experience. read more

We purchased a nissan altima back in September 2015. Everything seemed to be ok, till we started to have problems with the car (with in 2 1/2 months). We purchased carmax's warranty and found out that its a bad warranty.they pick and choose what to cover. Anyway we were told that we can take or car anywhere we choose to get our car repaired in case anything happends to it. We took it to nissan cause its their car and they know it better. Turns out it was 2.5 quarts low on transmission fluid. We got a copy of the supposed inspection report that carmax supposedly does in all cars they take in and resell. The Nissan tech checked if there was a leak and none was found. carmax didnt do their job, and it cost us $168.00. In the 6 months we owned the car we have noticed more things that was supposed to be done that wasn't done, ie power steering fluid low, break pads down to 30%, etc. They claim they have a no hassle pricing. Thats so you can over pay for your vehicle. Again we thought it was a good experience turns out be a nightmare. The more we research things the more we realize it was a mistake. We are now so far upside down on our car we cant get rid of it. If you so willingly choose to go to carmax before taking possession be sure to check everything or have a mechanic check it over. Buyers beware. I know they can finance just about anyone, buy really if you are so inclined to get a vehicle go to a reputable dealer, like we did with our 2nd vehicle and made it happen. Reputable dealers will work hard to get the deal done and make you happy... read more

I want to leave a review for Ceasar in the service department. His customer service skills are the best. He always treats me like a valued guest, gives me the best deal possible, and treats me with courtesy. He gets things right (estimates, costs, repair times) and that's hard to find. read more

We have bought two cars here in the last year. Could not have been a better experience. First of all, if you want the best sales person you have ever dealt with, ask for Dee Declouette. She went above and beyond all expectations without any pressure or obligation. She was an unbelievable pleasure to work with and made the whole process seamless. We searched for weeks and dealt with dealerships from San Francisco to San Diego and not only did carmax have the best price on the vehicles we wanted, they by far have the best service. Love the no pressure process and how you don't have to compete with other people for cars. Easy to put them on hold and get cars transferred in if you want them. Great selection and the no haggle price was lower than significant haggling with many other dealers. Couldn't be happier with our purchase. read more

Here's the deal: CarMax sold a used $12,000.00 car to a kid - my son - who works at Taco Bell. They full-well knew he could never make the payments without help, but, hey what do they care if the car gets repossessed? And then they referred him to Infinity Insurance Company which is fraudulent and will not pay on their claims. So now he has a huge car payment and has gotten in a car accident with an insurance company that's giving him the run-around. Do not deal with CarMax or with Infinity. Save yourself some heartache. If only he had read some reviews first! As the saying goes, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." read more

We bought a car from CarMax about a month ago. Had the best experience purchasing our car guy was awesome and so helpful. But after purchase experience is not so great. The car had expired tags fine whatever the registration is paid we will get the new tags in the mail. Get the registration in the mail but no tags (obviously because the car should have already had it's tags on it) my husband called and the guy on the other end of the line said no problem we will send someone to the DMV today and we will over night them to you FedEx. That was over a week ago. I called and talked to someone a couple days ago and he says "oh yes I see the notes here let me talk to my manager and give you a call back" surprise surprise he never called back. So I call again the following day talk to a lady this time and tell her what's going on "oh yeah I see the note here let me put you on a brief hold" 8 minutes later I just hang up. Call again and go to a different department explain to the lady who answered what is going on she cuts me off and said that's not my job. um ok then transfer me to a manager and she tells me she will transfer me to the right department and I can ask for a manager. Transfers me and nobody picks up. I'm just so frustrated at this point. It's one of those things that all I need is answers if I need to go to the DMV or if they did or what is going on. This is ridiculous. I probably will never buy a car from them again all because their after purchase customer service is HORRIBLE. If I owned the company I'd fire the two women I talked to they were horribly rude. One star because I'm so pissed off with the way they talked to me and how they have yet to return a phone call or just let us know what's going on it's not that difficult. read more

Enjoyable experience, without the stress of buying a car.

My trusty 98' Pathfinder died Friday night. I was researching some cars on CarMax and decided to head over Saturday morning when they opened at 9am. We were immediately greeted by Frank who helped us with buying a car. I already had a car I Iiked saved so he used the info I saved to figure out which lot we were looking in before heading over. The car was exactly as described on the website and I appreciated how all the info was right there for us on the car and the app. After checking it out we went back to the office to discuss financing. While we filled out paperwork, my three kids played in the enclosed kid's area that has some toys and a TV, which was extremely helpful. Anyway, we quickly got through the financing process and were approved. We had to wait about 30 minutes for the signing documents to be ready but were offered coffee and water which was nice. Frank then took us back to another area where Elizabeth helped us with all the legal documents. She took the time to explain what everything was and got us through the process in about 20 minutes. After that Frank took us out to the service area where our new-to-us car was waiting with a bow. He took some pictures of us and we were on our way just a little over a hour after we arrived. The whole process was so easy and we are very happy about our purchase. read more

I had such a good experience with Carmax. My car broke down really suddenly and I didn't have a lot of money to put down on a new one. I had okay to bad credit, and could afford only very cheap monthly payments. I was offered terrible and expensive deals with the other dealerships in the area and was so dejected, then a friend recommended I go to carmax. The carmax salesman who helped me, Logan, found me a perfect car for my needs and for my budget. I couldn't have been happier with the service and professionalism of the entire place, but especially Logan who went above and beyond and actually stayed late one night to accommodate me picking up the car after I got off work late because I really needed the car as soon as possible for work. My new car is amazing and it's so much better than I thought I could get with my budget and small amount of money down. I had been burned by two other dealerships before going to Carmax and it was a huge relief to finally go somewhere where they aren't trying to scam you, and they genuinely want to help you. I highly recommend carmax, and Logan! read more

Me and my sister both went in a rush just to look , and ended up getting a car for my sister which we were not planning to, but with the assistance of Dee she rocked it at assisting us she only had to show us 1 car and that was a done deal we explained what we were looking for and she simply delivered 120% very efficient and we were able to walk out with a car same day. anytime you go ask for her !!! when its my time I already reserved a time with her! she rocks!!!! read more

My husband and I were looking to downsize from my F-350 daily driver and we have several friends that had dealt with various Carmax dealers and all had great experiences. We knew we didn't want to buy a new car (losing $10000 driving it off the lot seems ridiculous!) so we searched the Carmax website for a car we were interested in, and headed to the Oxnard, CA location because they had a few on the lot. We were helped by Kayla, a young but knowledgeable and super helpful sales consultant! We test drove a Lincoln MKX (we originally were looking at the Lincoln MKC but it didn't have quite enough headroom for my 6'4" husband) and loved it! The only reason we didn't purchase a car that day was because they didn't offer us enough for our truck, which we totally understood given the 211,000 mileage on it. But our truck was in exceptionally great condition so we decided to try and sell it ourselves. We sold it within the week at the price we were looking for and headed back up to Carmax to meet with Kayla and check out another Lincoln MKX that wasn't there the week before. We LOVED it! I had called Kayla the day before we drove out there to ask about the vehicle - she put it on hold for us and when we got there the next day, she had the car already cleaned and ready for us to test drive! She was so helpful, pleasant to work with, and went out of her way to make us comfortable and happy! When their coffee pots were empty, she even brought us a cup of her own stash of tea and coffee! Miguel in the financing department was incredibly pleasant to work with as well - we were in and out of there in just over 2 hours! No annoying haggling, just simple pricing with a great selection of vehicles! We would most definitely use Carmax again in the future! read more

I just bought my first car from here and I couldn't be happier! Richard Johnson was AMAZING! If you go to Carmax ask for him. He was very informative and never once pressured me. I wasted my whole weekend with multiple dealership weasels trying to pull the wool over my eyes and I'm so glad that I didn't give in to the pressure. The financing process here is quick and easy- they have so many lenders to choose from and none of the waiting and waiting and waiting tactics the dealerships use to wear you down are used. Richard never became exasperated when answering my incessant questions. Thanks Carmax- you earned a very loyal customer and I'm going to tell the whole world how great you are! (Richard was a big part of my wonderful experience). That man deserves a GIANT raise! read more

Great people and easy process. I was only at there for 2-3 hours and drove off in my new car!

I had a great experience working with Chuy! He gave me VIP service the entire time and I have never had a more comfortable buying experience. Thanks, Chuy! read more

From Sales (Clint) to Service (Cesar) I had nothing, but a great experience. They helped with a free transfer of the car I wanted, gave me a fair value for my trade-in (better than another dealer would), and took care of some concerns with the car with honor and care. Clint and Cesar were and have been extremely helpful, thoughtful, patient, thorough, caring and simply good people. Virtues not common in the auto dealership world. They took care of all my concerns with professionalism. Highly recommend Carmax, Clint and Ceasr for your auto needs. read more

My wife and I just bought a used 2007 Toyota camry today. My wife 1st spoke to Richard and Richard had the car shipped from Buena park. So Richard was busy with another customer so no biggie on that but the real reason I'm giving the 5 stars is because of Derick Mahome. He was wonderful to work with, great guy, funny and we didn't just talk cars, I heard he used to be a truck driver and since I just got my Class A permit I had a bunch of questions about driving trucks and he was more than helpful, just kicking back answering my questions that had nothing to do with the car we came to see which was nice because I've been with sales men and women before where if you talk about anything but the car, they come right back to "so you wanna buy the car" but like I said Derick was super cool and professional the whole time and if I could I would give him 10 stars, Good job Derick, as far as carmax goes I would definitely come back read more

Very nice experience. Associate Tommy followed-up regularly until he located car he knew I was looking for. Buying experience was easy. Out of there is 30 minutes (versus 2 hour average at a dealership). Car had full tank of gas - nice touch. read more

I had the best experience ever at Carmax. I went there at a friend's suggestion after she told me how easy her buying experience was! I was greeted by a smiling young lady named Destinee. I told her what I was looking for and she found EXACTLY what I wanted immediately. There was NEVER any pressure or haggling over the price. She broke down my financing and payments in SIMPLE terms and sent me to a pleasant Dana who thoroughly explained the paperwork as she pointed out where to sign. They have a 5 day "Buyer's Remorse" policy which was good to know in case I changed my mind. Destinee followed me up the grade in my old car so I could take my new car home. I also got a follow up thank you card which I really appreciated. I would recommend Carmax to EVERYBODY! I told a friend at work that night about my experience and she booked an appointment online for the next day so she could get a new car too! I highly recommend Carmax. Ask for Destinee-she was a doll! read more

This is a mixed review. Carmax as a company, individual location ethics and the local location management and staff. I purchased a vehicle that required a location transfer based on the photographic representation and description of the vehicle as being undamaged. Because of this I elected to pay a price premium relative to other similar vehicles that indicated prior damage. Photographic evidence proved otherwise. It appears the transferring location is guilty of the sin of intentional omission by not disclosing damage to the vehicle probably caused at that transferring location and covered up. The receiving location was probably and honestly unaware of the damage and cover up at the time I purchased the vehicle. However, when I later discovered the cover up, the local location sales staff was responsive. However management at the local location left the issue of omission and fraudulent advertising and disclosure to the salesperson rather than management understanding the implications and management handling it. It was explained that only reportable insurance damage is disclosed and not internally caused damage. In short, let the buyer beware. As for Carmax as a company, the cover up leads to the question also of ethics relating to inventory valuation and financial reporting and how prevalent is the practice of omission as corporate policy. I paid $1,000 transfer fee for a vehicle I believed to be undamaged along with a price uptick. Would I buy from Carmax again, yes, but with a different skepticism. The public policies and procedures of Carmax are a model for the previously owned auto industry but in my case all the good they portray can be undone by fraudulent disclosures later. read more

I just sold my baby, a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited with 46,800 miles in perfect condition. Not only did I get a very fair price my wife and I were treated as guests. Our guide, and that is what he was, guided through each step of the process explaining what was happening from the appraisal to the ultimate purchase. The whole process took about an hour. It ended with a check and my personalized licence plates given to me. I can't recommend this place enough. Much better than dealing with trade-in or selling it privately. read more

I purchased a Mercedes on Monday. Before driving the car home, it was discovered that the tire pressure gauge was not functioning properly. My sales person told me that it would be repaired. On the way home, the light again malfunctioned. I made an appointment for the repair for two days from then, providing Brianna at the service hdepartment with my contact information. I returned the car for repair and Brianna said that she did not remember me and that my information was not in the system. That afternoon, I was called and told that my gauge was never repair; that all that was done on Monday was to put air in the tire and that the tire was leaking and was patched. I asked why the repair was not properly done and expressed my concern about the repair. When I arrived at the dealership, Brianna seemed not to know me (even though she was the person who called me less than 2 hours before I arrived)! When I spoke to my sales person and Travis (the dealership manager) and expressed my displeasure with the issue and my concern about the safety of the vehicle I was dismissed. When I said I was considering returning the car, I was dismissed and nobody seemed to care that a sale was in jeopardy over a tire! These people are incompetent, uncaring, dismissive and do not care about customers. I'm going to take my business elsewhere, tell my friends and get a new vehicle and another delaership. This purchase would have been my third through Carmax but I'll never go to another dealership, except to return the car I just purchased before the 5-day return window closes. read more

I bought a 2012 Honda CRV from Carmax on August 12th. Saleswoman was Mel. Went to see the car on Saturday the 10th, had a problem with my ID and had to get that straightened out. Asked them to hold the cart, which they did. Also had a concern about smelly chemicals that could be used when the car was cleaned. They were willingto listen to my concerns and honor them. Car was in great shape, fairly priced (I had done a lot of research on this model). Service was friendly and entirely competent. PLEASE READ. I had the most horrible first car buying experience here. My sales guy ls name was Tommy. I was supposed to put 1300$ down and already signed all of the paperwork after hours of filling them out and all of a sudden they had to do something else on the computer and came up with a 1600$ down or else I wasn't going to be able to take the car home. The manager Anthony said he never seen anything like it and would get me my 300$ back and I never got a phone call back. I went into carmax and talked to him personally and he did not care to do anything to compensate. Not only that but I got the car and the rotors and brakes were tore up they were all shaky and super squeaky so I had to take the car back immediately for service. I also had some foggy stuff on the headlights and they did not give a shit at all. I would not trust these people with any sort of major responsibilities. These people have no clue what they're doing they're just trying to get more and more money out of your pockets rather than to help you. I'm spending a lot of money here and these people don't give a shit about their customers or business. I hope that they're good friends with the Better Business Bureau because I will carry this out it's completely ridiculous. read more

I had a tremendous experience at CarMax Oxnard !!!! I initially called out of the blue to see if they had options for people with less than perfect credit. I went through a divorce, etc. etc. I spoke with Derrick who was off the clock and ready to go home..... but took, my what turned out to be 30+ minute phone call and answered tons of questions. In all honesty I was a bit ashamed of my credit because I used to have 740 credit score. He was very accepting and understanding and empathized with my situation saying he had gone through similar issues at one time. He just had me give some basic info and he ran some numbers and to my surprise they were able to get me financed through affiliate lender. I worked with him over a two week period as I decided to sell my car privately vs. trading it in. When Derrick was unavailable on his day off, he offered to come in to meet me. I told him it wasn't necessary and he turned me over to an equally competent lady name Jessica. For the next week we talked several times, got me approved with a very low down payment.... THEN, had the car I wanted transferred from another CarMax and delivered to Oxnard at no cost to me. I sold my car soon after and the same day I sold my old car, I drove my new car (8k miles on it) home ! There was no haggling, no funny business, just exceptional customer service. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DERRICK OR JESSICA FOR ANY OF YOUR NEEDS. Even if you don't think you can get financed because of credit issues, give them the opportunity to work their magic. I love my new Ford Escape and my experience at CarMax Oxnard ! Mike V. P.S. They may not give you top dollar for your trade in. I saw one yelp comment rip them for a low trade in offer. No one tried to convince me to "accept" what was a low trade in offer for my car. My old car was pretty hammered and I don't blame them. Simply don't take their offer if you don't like it. Sell your car privately if you want (or expect) to get top dollar for your trade. CarMax is not in business to give you top dollar for your trade in. They excel at excellent customer service, and no haggle pricing, with a HUGE selection of late model cars. If you know that walking in, you will have a great experience. Ask for Derrick or Jessica ! read more
