Second car I have purchased from Carmax. Quite simply the best car buying experience you can ever have. I will not even consider buying a car from any other dealer. BTW... Their service department is world class. read more

FANTASTIC FANTASTIC SERVICE !!! Jim and Carlos at the Oxnard location were unbelievable. I have never had service like this anywhere. Incredible, fast, efficient. They were patient, helpful. They call you back within the hour. Its a dream. I completely recommend them. DO NOT BUY A CAR until you check with CARMAX. The car which I bought was practically brand new and half price. Incredible deal. read more

I had a great experience at carmax. I worked with Phillip Paletta and he was great. My car was transferred from Neveda to the Oxnard Store and he kept me informed of the status of the transfer and the car came in sooner than they had estimated. He was very helpful and made me feel comfortable with the whole process. It was a stress free experience!I would definitely go back to Carmax. read more

This was my first time buying a car so naturally I was a little nervous! In the end there was no reason to be, from start to finish Carmax made the process a pleasure. I had the car I wanted shipped from another location, and it was easy and free. When I came in, my sales consultant Dee helped me in making my final decision and was there for every question I had. I cannot recommend Dee enough, and am so grateful to her for making this process so memorable in only positive ways. Thank you! read more

This place claims to offer fair prices for trade in or appraisal, when in fact they offer 10-15 percent below trade in value. Their offers are even way back of Mannheim Auction prices. I'm surprised people are so desperate. It is a convenient option for people who don't want to mess with the selling process, but at what cost!?? Don't bother with this place. I would try other dealerships or private party sale first. read more

The buying was the easy, almost painless, part. Trying to get the promised service has been impossible. They want be to make an appointment, but nobody has been answering the phone, and after leaving multiple messages, they still have not called me back. They owe me the middle center seat on my mini van. I finally got a text that the part is in, but can't get an appointment. Impossible. read more

All I can say is buyer BEWARE! Don't go in this place thinking you have to have the car. These cars are usually 5k over market. And I was there looking at the 2008 gt500 they have with cigarette burns in the headliner and everything I told the guy this car is worth about 18k he said yeah but someone will buy it at 28k. Suckers are born every hour. Good luck with this place. Plus your value is today's market their cars value is whenever the market was best. read more

Maria has the worst costumer service! My wife purchased from Carmax in Oxnard and has been trying to schedule a tune up for the past two days. Unfortunately, she has been getting the same person answering the phone, Maria, and the service has not been scheduled due to lack of knowledge about the vehicle, quoting prices and she's very rude when she has run out of patience with customers. Considering the appointment hasn't been scheduled, I called and tried to schedule it myself and get a quote for my wife. Maria even gave me the run around and went on google to give me an estimate. She also told me that she got the quote from google, but I was asking for their services. Maria has no sense of customer service and she even told me and I quote, " I don't even want to go there with you!" Management really needs to teach and train their employees how to better serve their loyal paying costumers. To top it off, Maria from the service department decided she would hang up on me during our conversation. Very unprofessional and I hope management does something about this, so they don't lose more business. Maria is a very unprofessional young lady! read more

All and all it was a great process, my car salesman was nice to work with and after i took the car home, and had time to really look it over , I did put together a list of about 6 issues, made an appointment to have those items repaired/checked out and Jared in customer service did a great job getting everything on my list repaired/replaced. Didn't even have to beg for it..It was a nice experiance to not have to bicker over price..what you see is what you pay..took alot of the stress out of the whole process. will send friends there..On a side note..I purchased a 2015 BMW with about 31,000 miles on it..very nice car, I thought the original warranty would still be valid or at least a part of ..but after reading up, I found out that is not the case if you don't purchase the Certified preowned BMW from an authorized dealer..so I screwed myself out of the warranty that was still with the car. BMW Warranty : The BMW Certified Pre-Owned Protection Plan provides coverage for 1 year with unlimited miles from the expiration of the 4 year/50,000-mile (whichever comes first) BMW New Vehicle/SAV Limited Warranty. i generally despise the car lot experience. this was unlike any other. i was looking to dispose of a lease about halfway thru term. i expected a thorough boning and ended up only lightly penalised and everyone i dealt with from the greeting to my rep richard johnson, mike the appraiser and finally girl in finance whom wrapped up the transaction as agreed with no surprises. thank you carmax. read more

If I could I would give them no stars. I bought a car less than 6 months ago. Had to replace windshield three weeks after I got the car. The service guy told me he couldn't do anything about it. And now I'm having issues with my tires. Again I called and complained and the guy on the phone was very rude. And said all he do was check my tires. I understand that I bought a used car and tires wear out. But really? They say they inspect all their cars and all about customer service but that's not true. My experience here has been terrible and if you're looking for a car a recommend just buying a new car or somewhere else. read more

Had a horrible experience at CarMax in oxnard. We wasted 3 hours there, test drove a car that was NOT even for sale. Courtney told us that they would lift a hold previously put on car because there was no sold sign in said car.. After 30 more minutes of sitting there her manager Amid comes to tell us that it turns out the car was being held for 2 weeks for a man that is currently overseas! Walked away empty handed. Thanks for nothin guys! read more

Something very interesting happens at Oxnard carmax and I'm sure this has happened to more people not just me. Dealers prefer you to get financed from them or from there list of companies. They also negotiate interest they get a kick back on the amount of interest they've gotten you carmax uses exsperian to check you credit rated . I also did before looking for a car there and looking into financing. They came back to me with a much much lesser credit score than I had that same day. In fact on all 3 of the credit reporting companies the credit score carmax had on me I've never seen. So today I decided to call exsperian and asked them why did carmax have such a huge difference in credit score than I have. The lady told me that carmax do the cheapest search . Again both carmax and myself did a credit check on me and we both had two huge difference in credit scores . The lady at exsperian told me it's not for her to say why carmax search in this manner. Only that the lower you're credit score the higher the interest rate they can charge you Sir. Let's leave it at that Sir. read more

No stars!! Don't let this corporation fool you.. you might be better off going to that run down lot on your local corner. The customer service of this Oxnard location is discussing to say the least. My gf bought a chevy Cruz just above 30,000 miles on it started having car issues in less than a month the communication with the car problems or should I say what communication? Called Ceasar about 9 times with maybe 2 calls back. Was never told I needed a water pump to be replaced we wur lied to and told there was a missing cap to something? She had told ceasar about the vehicle jolting and when arriving to Alexander they said they wur never made aware of this issue?! They lie to you and they don't care about making customers happy. Ceasar practically hung up on my gf once she let him know corporate had been contacted. Very unproffessional, very rude, don't go here... spend the extra $$$ to get what u pay for and deal with people who care and want to help!!! You won't find that here!! read more

We purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee from this location in December and traded in a 370z. The whole purchasing process was smooth and easy. What came next was such disappointment. This was not our first time purchasing a car from CarMax. A week after the 30 day guarantee our steering wheel became really hard to move. We took it back to CarMax and they immediately asked if we had purchased their service plan. Which we did not. They said they couldn't help us and we had to go to the Jeep dealership. They continuously made us bounce back and forth between them. Finally after a week and a half the Jeep dealership tells us that a tube was installed wrong!! And that's why our steering wheel line was leaking. I made one last call to CarMax and got Anthony on the phone. He actually looked up the history of the Jeep and turns out CarMax had done the work on the Jeep and THEY had installed it wrong. So all of this could have been avoided if their people weren't lazy and had just looked it up. We payed $145 to Jeep for a diagnosis fee (which Anthony refunded us). It took about 3 weeks in total to get our car back. No rental car was offered. We finally pick up our Jeep and notice a part in the back seat. No joke, they forgot to put the undercover for the motor compartment. I am so disappointed with our experience. The only person that helped us was Anthony. So props to him. However, I doubt we will ever purchase another vehicle from CarMax. read more

I didnt even get to step foot into the dealership and they have failed already. I used their online "free hold" to hold a vehicle we were very serious about seeing and most likely purchasing. We received an email to confirm the hold and did so. Today, we received an email from one of the sales people that the car was being transferred to another city for purchase and unfortunately it was not on hold anymore! I spoke to this person and he told me that I didnt email them back in time so the hold was removed. No where in the process does it say that an email is supposed to be sent. We received an email to confirm and we did so, that same day. I think, because this car was priced really good and lower mileage, they either will increase the price on it when transferred or someone known to them was interested in it. Either way, this process is POINTLESS if they are not going to honor a "hold" on it until you get to see it. Why even have that option? Very disappointing, they just lost a customer, we will be going to a local Toyota dealership tomorrow instead. read more

First off, I would like to say, if I could give 0 stars or negative stars, I would. Earlier this month, I purchased a vehicle from Carmax in Duarte. This review is not about them. This is about the Oxnard carmax. Why? Because the vehicle I purchased (2010 Lexus LS460L) was transferred over from Oxnard. After about 2 days of driving this vehicle, I knew something was wrong. The steering wheel would shake when I applied the brakes and there was a clicking noise when turning the steering wheel. So I took it to Longo Lexus in El Monte to have the vehicle inspected. It didn't take very long for the verdict to come back. The vehicle needed ALL 8 CONTROL ARMS replaced immediately!! They were worn down to the point where it was dangerous to continue driving the vehicle! In addition, all the brake rotors and pads needed replacing also. My service guy at Longo Lexus couldn't believe that carmax had even offered the vehicle for sale in this condition. So I took it back to carmax for them to repair. They told me don't worry, they'll take care of everything (30 day warranty on all carmax vehicles). But the very next day, carmax calls me and tells me the repairs are too expensive for them and that the vehicle is not "quality" enough. So what happened to the 30-day warranty?? Obviously, that was a lie! And why was the vehicle even offered for sale?? Didn't it pass carmax's "125-point inspection?? Lies! And more lies! For anyone considering buying a vehicle from carmax, don't do it! And especially not from Oxnard. Do yourself a favor and buy it from a reputable dealership. Carmax is full of con-artists. They've lost a customer forever! read more

We braced ourselves for the usual backside violation when we were due to get another car. Its been about ten years since we've last looked, and I didnt know where to begin- I saw the Carmax off the freeway and figured I would be able to at least price what used cars go for these days and see if it was something we could even swing with our slightly iffy credit. Anita met us at the door. She explained how Carmax is different, and if it weren't rude, I would have rolled my eyes. But as the night went on and we got to know Anita, we learned that her sales pitch was more of an explanation than a spiel, and that she was an awesome person to hang out with while you looked at cars. Carmax has a really good selection, most seem as if they were previous rental cars so they have been well maintained. It was a blast looking through what they had. We clenched our cheeks when it came time to talk about financing, and the cool part was- they have different lenders compete for your loan so you can pick the best financing. God is good- we got an interest rate that was much lower than we anticipated, which allowed us to go ahead and get a car that we like. The best part is that they offered to buy our van on the spot, and gave us a fair price- considering it was a ten year old well loved family van covered in chocolate milk stains and stale french fries. The whole experience was pleasant. I didn't feel pressured, I didn't feel lied to or swindled, like I have at other Oxnard dealerships (DCH). Anita and her supervisor and all of the staff- from the finance supervisor to the gal that did the paperwork at the end- everyone was really professional and they didn't seem like they hated their jobs or their lives or me. I appreciate that, because it seems to be rare when you're out shopping for cars. Carmax closes at 9, the staff stayed past 1030 to push our sale through. Anita's husband waited in the parking lot to pick her up and she still was inside, waiting for us. WE GOT A CHRISTMAS CARD FROM ANITA. Holy smokes, Im about to have her come hang out and watch RuPaul's Drag Race reruns with us. She's that awesome. read more

Horrible experience!! Wasted an entire afternoon there, only to leave without a vehicle. Salesperson was clueless about cars - and clearly didn't want to make a $35k sale. What a joke. I will be spending my time and money elsewhere. I am even more infuriated that I had an appointment with them and they still managed to have me test drive a car that wasn't available, didn't even offer to find another one, then run my credit on a car I did NOT want!! All of this crap and then they tell me they can't accept a W2 as proof of income ... seriously??? Clearly this man needs a different job. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! Company will rip you off. Un fair business practice. I purchased a 2013 Kia Optima From here. Major Lemon. :( I have had for less then 2 years. In first few weeks. Bumber coming apart. Paint just peeling off. All the lights, head lights, tail light had Electical Issues went out. Windows wont go up. :( Check Engine light went on. I have had to take back to Kia Dealer and car max so many times. Many Rental cars. SO many problems. I got extended warranity for $1,269. Im single dad 2 kids 2 jobs. I just had car in again for service. Now Engine Blew. Car Max will not honor Warranity. They sold me a 75,000 mile warranity. Max Care Warranity company says Plan should be 75,000 miles from date of purchase. Finance company which is also car max agrees. Car had 45,000 miles on it. Kia has a 60,000 mile warranity. So they did bate and switch also. So I payed for a 15,000 mile warranity. I have called channel 7 news and better business bearu. And consumer affairs. Repairs cost more than I ow on car :( Engine recalled also. Dealership in santa clarita says 12,000 for new motor. My family has purchased all there cars with car max. Shame on them. Look at all the bad reviews and Car Max on the news. Lots of cars falling apart and thet wont help, and will scam you on the warranity !! read more

I tried to sell my car to them and they gave me a TERRIBLE offer. It was a slap in the face for what I was trading in, I sold it privately for almost 3x's what they offered me and I could've gotten more. The car that I was looking at was in good shape but the miles were pretty high, along with the price. I found a newer model of the of the same car with half of the miles at the Kia dealership for 2k less than what they were selling theirs for with a lower interest rate. Another thing that really bugged me was one of the sales associates that I was working with insulted my eclectic profession and grilled me about it for 20 minutes. She was so rude, it was shocking. And then at the end of my horrible experience before I walked out of there they had 3 people on me trying to do a hard sell, you would've thought they were selling me a timeshare. The place was really commercial with no heart. read more

Fantastic and very satisfying experience. Antje and the rest of the employees were great!

WORST EVER! STAY AWAY!!! Incompetent low class uneducated staff, insulting sales person, rude sales manager, run down overpriced car I drove. I was refused to mechanically inspect the car before purchasing it, wtf! Who in their right mind would buy a car before a full inspection. I'm only considered the car because it had features I wanted, that are hard to find used. But at this point I might try to buy a brand new one, without the "used" headaches and uncertainty. They said I wasn't even aloud to look under the car, they said yes you can bring a mechanic, but no we can't hoist up the car, nor can you take it to a mechanic off their lot. Does this make any sense??? The sales manager tells me KBB is not accurate, doesn't rate cars, who's he kidding. Not me. Horrible horrible company. Heard they totally rip people off who are trading in their cars. Sell overpriced used cars, heard they do shoddy mechanics at best. Poorly trained mechanics. They try to pass this off as inspection and certification. Heard things like using the wrong oil, replacing with aftermarket parts etc. Cheap brakes tires etc. That's if they even bother to replace anything. Read this from people who've worked there. Then if you find something on the car you want, they won't even allow you to negotiate the price. Guess too many suckers out there that don't like negotiating, and are blissfully ignorant about cars, so they somehow stay in business. Also heard that trying to return or getting things fixed is a nightmare, even within the allotted timeframe. They claim you can return the car within 5 days for a full refund and therefore don't need to inspect it ahead of time. What???? So you'd take out a huge loan and then can you images the nightmare of reversing all of that. Guess they bank on you not wanting to go through the hassle. Also, their extended warranty they then try to sell you is pretty useless I've heard, doesn't cover much and is expensive. IMO: stay away and take your money elsewhere. read more

Worst location I've ever been to. Calculated the wrong price for my loan, got billed for 3 years of taxes on my car AFTER I had sold them my car, took my car for service and they forgot to screw on the under plate back on my car and almost got in a car wreck and then upon asking for a supervisor they were extremely unapologetic. Stay far away from this place unless you want to be ripped off and have tons of headaches! read more

Even though the employees seems nice, its deceitful in disguise! I had an appointment but then was told I still had to wait. I wanted a quote for my car. The female employee then began to ask me key question. Why do I want to sell my car? Do I plan on buying a car from them? Do I plan on trading my car with them or what? I told her I just wanted a quote. The lady then began to show me cars (not similar to mine) on there web site. About $10K less than mine. I tried to tell her the cars she is showing me were not the same. She began to argue that if I wasn't going to trade in my car AND buy one of theirs it was not fair! I was shocked!!!! I then ask her point blank, do you provide a service to give me a quote of my car? She said yes but it would take a while as I was the 3 car in line (I had a appointment!). I showed them KBB says my car trade in value was about $34K....TRADE IN VALUE!!!! Almost 1 hour later I got a quote of $23k. I was shocked. They don't go by KBB. They didn't even come close to the comparable cars they were currently selling. Unless you have NO OTHER OPTIONS, I would never buy or trade in my car at this location! I spoke to the manager and showed him KBB quote and a picture of cars he was selling in his location comparable to mine, he didn't care. They even pulled me aside so that no one else could hear me complain. Trust me don't go there!!!! read more

Had no intention of buying a car on the day I went in. Still, Dana was happy to spend nearly an hour and a half with us, test driving two vehicles for comparison. They have a 2008 Hyundai Accent for sale that had an MSRP of $10,800 when it was brand new. CarMax is asking $9,600 for it and Kelly Blue Book retail, not private party, is estimated at $6,200. I purchased a 2011GTI volkswagon car in July for my son. 4 months into ownership the motor needed to be replaced, then the turbo bypass valve, the clutch is next and tomorrow it goes in the shop again because the ESP error, ABS error, Airbag error light is on. Unfortunately I did not purchase the extended warranty because I thought the car was new enough with low enough miles that we would be fine. This is the second car I've sold to CARMAX. The first one was back in Indianapolis, and Carmax really does save you the hassle of dealing with people coming to your house, and all the unnecessary bureaucracy and paperwork of selling you car. Yeah, you may not get the full private sale value of your car, but the lack of headache is worth it. My experience, however has been that I've received above the private sale value of my cars. Especially so for the second car I sold to CARMAX earlier this week. I received incredibly more $ than what I was going in expecting the appraisal to be. Came into carmax the other day with my last hope of finding a car at a good price, i had first gone to the DCH honda dealer & it was too much of a hassle, & the I had came from Thousand Oaks from a dealer that gave me horrible service, my friend & cousin recommended I come here so I did, walk in the door & I was greeted right away, which was pleasant for once, Derick helped me out with & was really friendly & straight forward! A huge change compared to the other dealers, he asked me what I was looking for took the patients to go through every car I would be into, he even told me that if there was a car that I liked but wasn't available at their lot that they could have it transferred, I was so happy to hear that, I asked if they could transfer a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid & he said no problem, we went through some finance thing which would show how much of an APR I would be looking at with my monthly payments, I was looking at high APR but he said it's not a problem if I could come back with a cosigner that it would drop my APR by about 9-10 points, he gave me peace of mind when he told me that so the day after (yesterday) I came back with my friend that would help me out by consigning & I got a great deal on the car! Derick said that the car would arrive within 7 days but said they might get it in their lot by Saturday since it's being transferred from San Diego, he told me that as soon as it arrives he would send me a text (which I prefer over calls) funny guy but very professional. I was very happy with that, Derick gave me the excellent service I would expect from a car dealer, now I'll just be waiting for the car to arrive at the lot to be ready to take it home. Thanks again Derick, great service I will highly recommend you to my friends & family! read more
