On Saturday morning, I visited this location to sell my Mercedes. Unfortunately, my experience with the initial employee (african American woman with curly hair- cannot remember her name) assigned to assist me was extremely disappointing. From the beginning, she was unwelcoming, dismissive, and unprofessional in her interactions, despite my remaining polite and respectful throughout the process. After my appraisal was completed, she attempted to contact Mercedes-Benz Financial for payoff information and stated their office was closed, telling me I would need to return on Monday. I personally contacted Mercedes myself and was able to reach them immediately. When I returned to share this information, her demeanor worsened noticeably. She rolled her eyes, appeared irritated, and insisted I leave and come back another day rather than attempting again. Another employee stepped in, made the same call, successfully obtained the payoff information, and confirmed that my transaction was nearly complete. At that point, the original employee walked away and did not assist further. When she eventually returned, she was unable to provide a timeframe for completion and instead assisted other customers while my paperwork sat unfinished. I ultimately spoke with a manager, who handled the situation appropriately and reassigned my transaction. The employee who took over completed everything in approximately five minutes. I sincerely thank the manager and the employee in the back who stepped in -- their professionalism and willingness to help made all the difference. While everyone can have a bad day, the level of customer service displayed by the initial employee does not align with working directly with customers in a professional environment. If customer-facing roles are a challenge, a position that does not involve direct customer interaction -- such as a back-of-house or line-cook role at establishments like Popeyes, McDonald's, or Wendy's -- may be a better fit. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used as a coaching opportunity to ensure future customers are treated with respect and professionalism. read more

So I literally had the most incredible experience selling my car to this Carmax location. The offer from Carmax was $400 more than the next closest. I saw an option online to upload the required info as well as make an appt to drop off my car. So I gave it a try and when I arrived the next day everything was ready to go. I was assisted by Pearl who was extremely professional and courteous. So from arrival to departure it was less than 30 mins for me to leave with a check in the Lyft ride provided by Carmax. The huge carmax lounge is very welcoming in the heat outside. There are seats in the left, on the right and around, so plenty of seating. I had just come from Shabana motors and though the staff was courteous, it was much smaller with limited seating, compared to which, this was luxury. Had to get a quote to sell my 2008 Prius. My partner for many years, it was high time to let go and get a new one. I realized it was so old that every dealer we went to, v had to explain to them how to start the car! :).... It was a pretty long wait of 30 min, and the quote that came back was really low, but the guy who was responsible for us did not take us for a ride, he told us upfront that it was very low and he personally would not take the offer but sell it directly and earn definitely a better price. Best part is that they allow us to look around the cars at the lot to see if we like any of them. Predatory Practices and Subpar Vehicles - Beware of CARMAX I'm compelled to share my terrible experience with CARMAX, particularly for women considering doing business here. They seem to prey on women with limited automotive knowledge, pushing poorly maintained, unreliable cars at premium prices, banking on the assumption we won't know better. Carmax never disclosed the fact that the engine had been repaired twice but sold me a car at full price. Carmax pulled up a car fax report stating no repairs and no accidents which is a big fat lie! I purchased a vehicle from Carmax believing their sales pitch that it was "in perfect condition." Within four months the check engine light came on. The car began breaking down. The car had a major engine recall that clearly weren't addressed prior to sale. A trusted mechanic confirmed these problems should've been DISCLOSED and FIXED before the car ever hit the lot. When I returned to discuss the issue, I was met with condescension and dismissive remarks. They refused to take responsibility or assist with repairs, leaving me stranded with a lemon. It's clear they're prioritizing profit over integrity, targeting customers they assume won't and can't push back. I urge women and others to stay away from Carmax. Find a dealership that values honesty and stands behind their vehicles. I wouldn't wish this financial and emotional stress on anyone. It's been a whole year that I have been fighting with a car that the dealership knew was a lemon. They clearly capitalized off of me and now I'm stuck with paying for a problem that I can't afford. I have brought multiple cars from this company and this is the thanks I get. As a single working mother I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Then noticed the arm rest had really thin leather and it got cut overtime. After the cup holder area creaks a lot if put any pressure. The worst part, noticed a piece of the side of my car that fell off after closer inspection. Seems they put some type of adhesive and smoothed it out and then painted over it. My salesperson convinced me to buy this car after my previous one broke down, leaving me stranded with my 2-year-old daughter for two hours. After spending the entire day at CarMax, I drove home only to have the car overheat and the engine light come on. The car had to be towed back to CarMax the next day, and it remained in their service department for 14 days. The salesperson informed me that I had to keep the car for at least 10 days unless I got it appraised. Within two weeks of having the car, it overheated five times in 24 hours. I returned the car to CarMax, and they kept it for an additional three weeks. During this time, I requested an appraisal and was offered $12,000 for a car I bought for $17,998 (with total costs amounting to $27,508.44 after fees and warranty). Despite the car being in CarMax's possession for most of the time since purchase, its value dropped significantly. I was told the car needed a new cooling tube, water pipe, battery, oil change, and new tires due to shaking at speeds over 77 mph. We walked in, there were 5 salesman just standing around not eager to help or even greet. Finnaly a lady greeted us and started to ask what we were looking for. It was going well we saw a few cars and my husband was interested in two. She let us know that those 2 cars were not for sale as they were missing proper documentation. We were going to let her know to give us a call back since my husband was really interested. Once she felt we didnt want any of the others cars her whole attitude and demeanor changed. She snatched the tag off our car that we wanted to trade / sale gave us the key back and basically said goodbye/ thank you. However, I am rating Carmax low because the verification process, contrary to the lies they tell on their website, they tank your credit score. In 2020, during the pandemic, my credit plunged into the toilet for numerous reasons. Over the past two and a half years I've worked very hard to repair my score. Well, the salesman, Rey, told me that Carmax requires a soft credit pull. I approved it and was approved for financing. Well, he then told me that a hard pull was needed... I know what hard pulls can do so I rejected at first. Rey told me he couldn't proceed without a hard pull. I relented and allowed it. The hard pull dropped my score 30 points, literally. It was on my credit seconds later. All the work I had done for two years was for nothing. It went from good back to fair...
