I didn't even know that they had a location in the valley beside the one in Burbank. It's right across the street from Home Depot off of Roscoe. The property itself is a pretty big lot. We had an appointment in the afternoon which when we walked in, it was pretty busy. I was surprised to see how busy it was mid week during the day. Pretty much all of the seats were occupied in the waiting area. We checked in and were told it'll be a little wait but actually was called right away. We had an appointment just to see what the value of our car is and what we could get for it. Even if we didn't go through with it, it was nice to know what it would be. While we chatting with one of the sales associate, he gave us a low down on the procedure. It would normally take about half an hour for the inspection so we took a little wander through the lot. The back/side part of the property is where all the cars are placed. They seemed to be arranged by make and brand of cars. What they have on site was quite nice. All sorts of cars from lower line to the higher line. It was nice to browse and see what they had. They all had the information on the window with the QR code if you wanted more information. Prices are quoted to make it easy. Not haggling needed. I don't know how often cars come in to the lot but what they had was quite nice. Service was quite nice. Staff were all pretty friendly and checking in was very easy. We didn't have to wait long which is also a plus. Maybe it's because of the appointment, but we'll take the fast service. read more

Came out to find a car, went through the process of searching through their inventory with an employee and test driving the car I picked out. I had to wait a day to be able to buy the car on my end and the employee told me they would reserve the car for me to come back the next day and complete my purchase, but a couple hours after I got home after spending all morning at the dealership they texted me that they sold the car to someone else. Just an fyi that their word means nothing and they will lie to your face with a smile. Avoid them at all costs, they don't deserve your business. read more

There is no general sales manager at this location. There is no one overseeing the zoo and circus that is happening at this location. No one knows what they're doing. No one has any customer service skills they can't even take a phone call. I called back six times in less than five minutes and no one knew how to transfer me to a sales person and when I got a sales person, no one could give me a sales manager and when I asked for the general manager, no one would tell me that there is no general manager for that location , which is why none of them know what they're doing These little boys tried to gaslight me and say "I'm gonna hang up on you if you don't talk to me nicely "after the fifth time I asked to speak with their location manager and they wouldn't transfer me then they got mad at me then they started saying I was the problem I am the customer you fools!!! give me what I am asking for don't argue with me and don't make me wrong because I'm calling you out and telling you that you don't know what the hell you're doing!!!' read more

We had a car we wanted to sell and got our online appraisal done. We made the appointment and brought in all the paperwork needed. We had a small loan amount on the car which CarMax knew about because we indicated that in the questionnaire. When we arrived they took all our paperwork and started processing everything. That included the loan payment information. They inspected the car and we got to the signing portion of the process. They are busy so while we were waiting for them to inspect the car and process paperwork, it was well over an hour. We meet with a lady who starts the final stage and looks at our loan information and said they have to call to verify the loan. The bank is located back east so they were closed at that time. She said any loan that's over $4k needed to be verified. We were stuck so we had no choice but to leave. We wasted 2 hours of our time when they could have looked at our paperwork at the beginning and told us they had to call the bank to verify the loan and we would have figured out they were closed and we would have saved us a lot of time. We still wanted to sell the car so we made a call to the Oxnard location and they told us the loan amount doesn't matter, it's if the equity we have after the loan is over $4k then they have to call. Big mistake on canoga park! We made an appt another day for Oxnard and made sure to go on east coast business hours. They told us they had to call to verify the loan (which canoga park should have done) and when it came time to the final stage, we signed the papers and they gave us a check. Overall, Oxnard acted professionally and knew what they were doing while canoga park has no clue! Stay away read more

The service and staff were subpar compared to my other visits. We purchased our 3rd car from CarMax and this was by far the worst experience. The car was supposed to be ready on our appointment time but was delayed and we had to return the next day. All we received was an apology and nothing else. The first time I came in for a test drive, I was told to wait 20 minutes. I ended up waiting 40 minutes, only to be told that the car I was interested in had already been reserved. I returned today, and once again I was told to wait this time for 25 minutes. I waited for an hour, but by then they were closing, and once again they were absolutely no help to me! I have used other sources in the past, without satisfying results and have gone back and forth, then back to CarMax, more than once. Let me say this at the onset. The inside of this CarMax is spacious, there is complimentary coffee, water and the staff is friendly. I was lucky that this time, I had a courteous associate. My appraisal was ready in about 20 minutes, all printed out and valid for 7 days. I did sell my car on the same day. Sadly, I executed this task (a headache for me), at another competing outlet. What a horrible experience I had today at the CarMax in Canoga Park! I dealt with a manager who was extremely rude and unprofessional to me. I came in today with an appointment to sell my car and I was belittled, treated like I was being dishonest and told I didn't own my car. After some waiting, I was then told that they will make the deal with me "this one time" but will they "come out to get me" if my car gets turned down by the DMV. It felt threatening and demeaning. They said I could walk around there a lot and check out the vehicles that they had, which was exactly what I did, just to make time go by faster. I came back into the office within 40 minutes and got an appraisal. Everything went smoothly and effortlessly. I just wish they would give information as to how they appraised the vehicle like give me a little bit more information. read more

The wait was pretty long, I would definitely recommend doing the initial paperwork online beforehand as it will eliminate most of the waiting time. I like how you can move vehicles between dealerships and they hold them for you to test drive, but I paid $1k over market value. I proceeded because I did want a specific vehicle. I'm not a huge fan of the team concept salesperson thing. They are paid a flat rate and it can be split between others, which disincentives being dedicated to you and your sale. I had too many people jockeying for my sale, whether it was online, over the phone or in person. This becomes very problematic when you're trying to get your sales details refined and when promises are made prior to delivery. It's almost impossible to reach your salesperson (even with his cell phone #!), without getting yet another person trying to get involved in the sale. There were WAY more imperfections on the vehicle compared to what was shown online. Expect that! Even with this, they wouldn't reduce the price a tad. I found better loan rates elsewhere. Lastly, for not having to haggle, the actual sale process was 3+ hours! I was handed off to yet another sales person who had no idea of the ongoing deal between me and my original salesperson. WAY too long for what should be an already agreed upon price! I'm not sure if I will do Carmax for the next car. read more

Well when I came in they took my info and told me it will take 2 hours . Sarah heated up my lunch for me. No problem so I normally eat at 10:30am at work. I'm on vacation so I had to bring my car in for the 95K service. But I have 101, k on my Audi Q5 plug in hybrid 2020. But as I go to the restroom not even in there for 1 min the lights go out. So of course this might be my 3rd time coming so I know to turn on the lights on my phone and turn it upside down. But they need to change the time on the light for 10 mins. Even though I was in there for 3 mins. Someone could have been in there with their child. And kids get scared of the dark before adults. At the beginning of the year, I sold my car to CarMax. The process was simple, fast, and easy and they offered me a good price for my car. I went onto their website, entered all the information and specs for the car I wanted to sell, and they gave me an offer that I felt was reasonable. The only catch is that the offer expires within seven days. Before the week was up, I made an appointment to go in and complete the sale because apparently, you need an appointment, or else you'll be stuck waiting a long time. Even with an appointment, I waited around 20 to 30 minutes. Once they called my name, they honored the online offer, I handed over the keys, and walked out with a check in hand and just like they promised. It was so much easier than trying to sell the car myself on Facebook Marketplace or any other platform. I would definitely recommend CarMax if you're selling a car that you own outright. I'm pretty sure they also buy out leased cars, but I'm not familiar with that process. Still, it's worth looking into if that applies to you. read more

This is the worst CarMax i've ever dealt with. They sold me a car with mechanical issues and I thought as an immature youth man in my early 20's. Thought the small mechanical issues were good weren't gonna be a problem right after warranty ran out transmission and engine failed. I tried contacting Carmax to see if I can get assistance and they told me that it was out of their jurisdiction because the warranty ran out. I was fixing stuff on the car before the warranty was even over like the fuel pump injector. I even took it to Volkswagen four times to get its recalled parts fixed. After receiving an excellent appraisal online, I scheduled an appointment with this CarMax at 2pm. The entire waiting area was full of people sitting deep in their chairs like they'd been waiting forever. Thankfully (maybe since I scheduled an appointment?) they called my name after about 5 minutes of waiting. Went downhill from there. First, they gave me a form to fill out with all my leasing information. I said that I didn't have this info memorized, nor did I carry all my bills around with me. Why wasn't the form emailed in advance, so I could bring it completed with all the information they wanted. The rep said they never knew whether people owned or leased. I said, the appraisal form online actually asks whether I leased or owned. She said they just didn't know. What?! Then I realized I had forgotten my driver's license--my mistake. The rep told me I could come back later. I asked, "How late are you open?" She assured me I could return as late as 8:30 p.m. I came back at around 7 p.m., but the front desk staff told me it was too late to "call in a lease." Confused, I pointed out the rep who had told me otherwise. I approached her and asked, "Remember when you said I could come back as late as 8:30 p.m.?" She looked at me blankly and replied that she thought I'd be coming back sooner. I explained that I didn't live nearby and had to deal with LA traffic--hence why I had specifically asked about the latest possible return time. She took my paperwork to someone else, had a whispered conversation, and then returned to say it was too late to "call in a lease" and that "the systems were down anyway." If you're looking to be misled, lied to, and "handled", this is the place to go. (Also -- FYI, don't go to this location alone. There's a homeless encampment at the front of the store, and all around the neighborhood for 3-4 blocks.) read more

I've been to CarMax a couple times over the years but I've been here twice at this location and it's been so much better than it had to be. I always sold my cars to CarMax over the years, instead of a dealership trade-in. They give you more than fair prices, lot better than trading it in to a dealer. I traded-in an older BMW but I always took great care of it but it was ten years old and getting a $3,000 offer was a lot better than it could have been. But, the car I was going to buy was sold so I didn't need to sell my current car just yet. I finally got a new car and came back to CarMax, assuming it would be maybe $2,500ish but surprise... they said it's now worth $3,500!? I guess demand went up but I also think it's because I really got it prepped nicely for them; my tires were under warranty so I got a new one on a slow leak, got it a great wash, detailed it myself, got every crumb, etc. So again, that was awesome and I had to give my 'baby' away but I wanted it to look great for the next buyer who's getting a great car. Now... the workers. AMAZING, every one of them. I forget his name on the first trip, but he was super friendly and nice when it was a weekend madhouse but he was calm as can be. Then this last trip, both ladies I dealt with (the appraisal then the paperwork) were super nice. There was another customer being a total pain near me, trying to negotiate a price up, threatening to sell it on his own... but even then, the worker was calm and nice with the guy. I knew Carmax purchased vehicles, but what I didn't know was they purchase leased vehicles as well. I recently sold my Mercedes to them as I was coming up on the end of my lease. If I turned it into the dealer, I would have had to pay the lease turn in fee, which is typically $500 or more. I avoided all that and instead walked away with money and they handled all the paperwork with MB financial. The process could not have been easier and I was in and out in an hour on a busy Friday afternoon no less. They even paid for an Uber to take me to the Lexus dealership where my new car was waiting for me. All the customer service staff were great! Very friendly, helpful, so accommodating and most of all expedient. I have purchased a few cars in years past before I strictly started leasing and I've always had a positive experience. There were workers sitting together laughing behind the counter while we've been sitting here for about an hour. I went to this Car Max to get the value of my car. It was so incorrect. The only thing they had on there that was correct was the fact that my bumper in the back needs to be painted in a very small 9 inch line. They put things on my estimate that were not a problem at all. They said my Check Engine light was on; NOT true that was a light that said my Headlight sensor was off. My mechanic obviously forgot to reconnect this wire. They also said my seats had rips in them; NOT true there are no rips in my seat. The only thing is the back of my seat the glue became unhinged from the seat. I just have to take it to an upholstery seat guy to get it fixed. The seats themselves are not ripped anywhere. They also said there was something wrong in the back of the car, which I highly doubt. They did not do a good job of explaining what was bringing the price down, it's like they were just trying to lower the price as much as possible. I just had an amazing experience at CarMax. I got quotes from CarMax and 2 other companies. CarMax was significantly better so I scheduled the in-person express visit after receiving the offer. I half expected a "bait and switch" but the offer I received was the same as the check I walked away with. The online process was easy and as mentioned I opted for the express check out. All my docs were uploaded before my appointment so that made things faster. I was unexpectedly late to the appointment but they worked me in anyway. Guadalupe was my rep. Be mindful of maxcare. It's a third party vendor. If your dealership doesn't use the words mechanical, failure, breakdown, or is regarding a part that has a part number nothing will be covered by maxcare. They will throw around the word mechanical failure which is not in the contract however no matter what words associates use if the dealer doesn't use them, then it won't be covered. Tip: try to have your dealership use words from the contract otherwise they will not cover anything. It's really for if anything fails on your car, completely breaks down and no longer works. It doesn't mean if a wire slips out plans is reconnected it won't cover that no matter how dangerous it is. That's the issue with maxcare, it doesn't matter how dangerous the issue is if it's not broken and or completely failing as in nothing fixes it without replacement, won't be covered. They don't care about danger or your life just the money you give them. Their 125.5 inspection won't inspect your fuse box, which I found out later had loose wires. They won't help you resolve that as an issue because they will say, as I was told by Victor "we don't inspect that, there's no need to inspect that". They assume to not inspect things which leaves possible faults on your car. I had a big gash in my tire they didn't see that in inspection lol? read more
