Traded in my 2015 Evo X MR for a 2016 Chevrolet Volt around late April 2019. It went better than I expected. Thank you G!
2015 Evo X MR trade in-value was more than I expected.
So I continued, and wanted to purchase a 2nd Gen Volt in their lot. Unfortunately all were "Sold" in the Burbank lot.
G was my salesman. He showed me other hybrids that CarMax offered, however I think G quickly caught on that I really wanted a 2nd Gen Volt.
Unfortunately not many Volts to pick locally, and nearby. There were several nice Volts in the Henderson, Nevada area but shipping will take 14 days, and $$. The only Volt that meet my criteria was in Bakersfield. So I waited 4 days for the Volt to arrive in Burbank.
G made my purchase, and trade-in experience quick, and painless. The financial department was on the slow side, but after that. G was on it. Most of the work was done on my first visit, 4 days before purchasing. This is optional, but I want to take advantage to get it done on that day.
Overall a great purchase, and trade-in experience. Thank You G!
Now about the car I purchased from CarMax, and the history of my ownership up to this date of writing.
Volt was in "Ok", 3 out of 5 in interior, and exterior condition.
Several small exterior scratches...Normal for a used day to day car.
Big scratch was on the drivers side. Maybe the previous owner did not remove/took off the protection adhesive when brand new immediately. Which dug through the clear coat. This was resolved through detailing, and a wax.
Interior was beaten up by the sun (Volt was from Bakersfield). Very dried out leather upholstery, steering wheel/shifter boot dried out, and am assuming the previous owner was a female because she left a lot of makeup stains near the window visors, and maybe failed delivering Tofu (Initial D reference). Acidic drink, or some sort was all over the center console, but it looked like CarMax replaced the damage center console portion, or did a very good job at hiding it. The interior stink when the AC was running (during test drive, windows was down). Replaced the Cabin Filter ASAP after purchase. Filter was MOLDY, and it SMELLED LIKE SWEATY SOCKS! Invested in 5 minutes to replace, and $12. Heavenly now!
I have more negatives to say...But as a car enthusiast, and care about my car...Today my Volt looks amazing both Interior, and Exterior.
Mechanical wise...
CarMax only replaced 2 tires, the other 2 I replaced myself.
Volt was in need for a Wheel Alignment during test drive (strong tug to the left during braking), and I ignored it because I have a lifetime wheel alignment. So got it resolved within 4 days after purchase, and other components checked (suspension, bearings, tie-rods, sway bar...etc). No issues to components, but the caster, and camber was messed up on the front left per the wheel alignment report.
Now Volt can do 50mpg highway easy (100% hold mode). Does 250+ mpg on a daily basis.
Air intake filter was replaced by CarMax, and looked new. Paper element was color white, so it's easy to tell.
AND THE WORST...My Volt started experiencing "Shift To Park" around May. Was very severe by July. Volt was acting funny, and cannot shut down. Got it resolved through Community Chevrolet in Burbank all through MaxCare, $0!
Overall...When purchasing a used car. Be prepared to make it like new, and beautiful again. Volt is no Evo X, Supra, or a 300ZX (my previous cars), but it is my daily. I want to have an enjoyable experience driving the car, and inside when stuck in traffic. Bose sound system is amazing in the Volt.
Also this Volt looked like the less work needed. I saw the other sold Volt's in Burbank. All required some work. read more
