    Rancheros Bowl, Iced Matcha
    Sofis K.

RANCHEROS STYLE BOWL 7/10: I got the rancheros style burrito but in bowl and it was $16.42 including tax and it was quite good! The eggs were nice and fluffy, the beans had a good flavor to them, and the ranchera sauce was amazing. There were, however, a few downsides that make this a bit overpriced for me--personally. I would have like to have seen more ranchera sauce in ratio to the eggs. If anything, I probably gobbled the sauce in 2 bites and was left with most of the bowl ranchera-sauceless. I also think it would be nice if they gave an option to have a single tostada in place of the four tortilla if we opt in for the bowl option. It would give the dish a nice crunch component and would be perfect for people who don't want too much tortilla! MATCHA LATTE 9/10: The matcha latte was really good! I got it sweetened lightly with brown sugar and it was amazinggg. It had a subtle sweetness to it and the matcha flavor was prominent, bold, and smooth. I definitely suggest getting the matcha here! NOTES-- - Open and ample seating - Street parking!

Walked in and no one was here when we ordered. Thought that meant we'd get our food quickly. We sat down and people started arriving and ordering. 30 minutes later no food had came out. Went to check in and turns out tickets weren't printing and they didn't notice all these people waiting with no food??? Got our food eventually almost 50 minutes later. Food was solid but service lacked so was not worth the wait

I went here on a Monday morning and it wasn't busy at all. I was recommended the Carla cream top matcha. The cream top was good but the matcha was very watery and didn't have a taste at all. I just tasted the milk which was really sad. There is a lot of seating in the cafe which was nice if you needed a place to study or eat .

First time at Carla and it did not disappoint! Found myself in LA on a Thursday evening and took advantage of the moment. The burger was perfect, I absolutely LOVED the chilis in it. BK sandwich was crispy and so flavorful. And the salad was BIG and creamyyy. Staff were very friendly and helpful with ordering. The dimmer set mood lightning is great for dinner. Not too crowded during the 6pm reservation but it was packed by the time we left. Parking - leverage the massive Target garage across the street. There is an entrance on 3rd street or La Cienega.

The sandwich and matcha was good but I noticed half way through there was a lady bug in the arugula. I got grossed and couldn't eat the other half.

Being this expensive should be a crime lol a sandwich should not be $20!!! The matcha was filled to the top with ice and the top couldn't even close cos the barista filled it to the top!!!! I would not come here again for these prices The sandwich was decent...

The matcha is made to perfection! Not too sweet but still very rich in flavor. I usually can't finish my matchas cause it's too much but this one was so good I drank all the way down. The guy helping us was so nice and patient when explaining the menu. We ended up getting the breakfast burrito and loved it! Will def be coming back for that combo.

Absolutely fantastic breakfast burritos, french toast, and their tuna sandwiches are tdf. No skim milk or splenda for your coffee, but the great food more than makes up for these minor shortcomings.

One of the best breakfast spots in town. I had ordered to-go, and it certainly did not disappoint! Their breakfast burrito was incredible, along with their matcha cream top. The real star of the show was their French toast. Thin, crispy, egg-y, buttery; what more could you ask for? All the sauces they give you are made in-house and are great. Service was fast, and the food was fresh/hot when I ordered. Highly recommend!

I just moved to this area and I tried this place; I had would consider like a Korean fusion burrito, and the pickles were very delicate and not overpowering the gochujang sauce was actually pretty mild and easy on my stomach. The Matcha latte was also pleasant. I'm looking forward to trying other things on this menu. ‍‍

3.5 Stars I bought the sandwich from Uber eats so I can't comment on the service or ambience for this one. The sandwich I got is called the tuna chop. It's one of their most famous sandwiches. I love tuna sandwiches so I decided to try it out. The sandwich features a generous portion of house-made tuna salad, complemented by avocado, chopped salad lettuce, tomato, red onion, cucumber, garbanzo beans, pepperoncini, jalapeño, red wine vinaigrette, yellow mustard, and garlic-basil aioli, all served on a toasted ciabatta roll. The bread was soft and crispy. I enjoyed the bread. While the sandwich filling had its sour, tangy and spicy moments which were nice, and it did taste very fresh, I was hoping that the flavors would come together stronger. The tuna itself didn't really stand out to me. It wasn't bad but I was hoping for something more. Plus I paid about $25 for the sandwich. I would try something else from here though.

Cute brunch/lunch spot on W 3rd! I came in for an early lunch on a weekday. Walking-in, I loved the branding and the vibe of the restaurant. A perfect spot for a casual and light lunch. For drinks I ordered the banana cream matcha. It was on the milkier side but it was still delicious, creamy, and had good banana and cinnamon flavor. However, I wish the matcha flavor was stronger. For food I got the garlic aioli chicken sandwich and it was great! The bread was crispy, the veggies and avocado were fresh, the chicken was juicy, and the garlic flavor was tasty. I would prefer if the sandwich was warmer though. Overall, a great spot for lunch and takeout. I would be definitely be coming back to try the other drinks and food!

It remains a unique addition to the neighborhood, as well as a good place to grab some interesting dishes. Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. This is not to say that this is still not an interesting, well-designed business, but, with time, it has become a little bit rundown. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. For all of you vegetarians and vegans out there, you will, for sure, be able to find some tasty food to eat. Once upon a time, this restaurant was impacted with tons and tons of people. It was constantly full with people either going to the bakery and/or sitting down for table service. Shortly past their opening each day, there would be a line of people waiting for service. This seems to have changed, however. Meaning, if you're looking for an interesting place to eat, with some good dishes, at the far Southeast side of DTLA, near the lofts district, and you want a place without a long wait to get a table and/or your food, this may still be your place to go.

Sampa is located in the Arts District near the intersection of S Hewitt St and E 5th right next to Urth Cafe. If it's your first time visiting Sampa, you have to be open minded towards the concept itself. Yes, the dishes here are smaller in portion and costs more than your typical fast casual spot. All the servers here are attentive and offer to help with what to order if you're unsure. For dinner, the Crispy Pasta is their take on crispy pata but served with spinach tagliatelle. The crab fat fried rice is a no brainer and depending on the night you come, I highly recommend the Sinigang xiaolongbao special. WORDS TO DESCRIBE SAMPA: Elevated dining, speakeasy vibes, quality food and service PARKING: Parking can be difficult since it is close to the Arts District, you may want to park in the Public Parking Lot areas FOOD: Lechon fried rice: This dish was exquisite! I loved all of the colors in the rice, which include the fried pork belly, the golden egg yolks, and the pigments of the atchara (atchara: pickled vegetables such as papaya, scallions, and carrots). When I took my first bite of the fried rice, the blend of all of them together was scrumptious! Yes order this dish! 5/5 STEAKSILOG: I would order just the steak alone! The skirt steak was savory, juicy, and mouthwatering! Yummy! 4.5/5 Kare Kare Tamales: This dish was delicious! Kare Kare is one of my favorite Filipino dishes, so when I saw it paired with tamales I was immediately intrigued. The presentation was beautiful. The flavor was rich and unique. The oxtail was tender and the peanut sauce paired well with the savoriness. 4/5 CHICKEN AND PANDAN WAFFLE: This plate was their take on chicken and waffles. The pandan flavor was there, but I wish the waffle was thick, instead it had a crispy thin cookie like texture. 3.5/5 DRINKS: Bartender has skills! Beauty in the booze! I appreciated the artistry in creating our beverages. I loved the details of the flowers and layers of color. Cheers! All in all I had a great time eating at Sampa! I loved the food and service! Some stand outs from the appetizers: the biscuits, served warm, so soft and buttery with the perfect spreads. The albacore spread. Their salads are actually great (this is coming from me, usually a salad hater.) The potato appetizers. Now from the entrees: I was pretty shocked by the eggs benedict popover and the bacon steak. Namely because these are generally pretty straightforward brunch dishes, but they were just so much better here than other places I've had them. I don't know what the secret is for the benedict popover - is it something they put in the benedict sauce? The way the ingredients come together? Whatever it is, it's perfect. For the bacon steak - it cut like butter, and wasn't too salty, sweet, or chewy / thick. So good!
