She had to lead me inside along the speakeasy passage to the tunnel, it was so dark. I thought it was styled very fun and cute when my eyes recovered and adjusted. I wasn't super hungry so I only had the fried breaded pickles and the house battered prawns--both were great, but those prawns were something else. They were some of the best things I've ever put in my mouth--ever! Perfectly cooked, huge and moist and so flavorful. Their cocktail menu is great with lots of choices--we loved our drinks. Perfect triple combo in my opinion and I didn't even need to ask. Coleslaw was great- not too much mayo or celery seed or anything weird. Just a good scoop of salad. I ordered scoop sauce on the side and it wasn't my favorite because I am the weirdo that doesn't like ketchup. If you like ketchup (and a touch of horseradish!) this is your sauce! There is definitely at least one back room, but the main dining room is a bright, airy space that has access to a patio where may even be some live music playing. The tables are gorgeous - all live edge, which might create a bit of an issue if you have short arms and are used to stealing bites across the table, but they are absolutely beautiful and a nice nod to the area. The wine list is extensive and a bit overwhelming, but the service is happy, friendly, and very knowledgeable. In fact, I love when servers don't know, admit it, and find the answer for you - it's humble and shows they really care at getting you what you want. We got the orange wine, which is a new favorite of mine. It's like a rose for reds. Rose:White::Orange:Red. More savory, still light, and best chilled. We had the beet hummus app, which is definitely best eaten with your hands. It's light and delicious. We had the miso black cod, a personal favorite, and the lasagna for dinner and while both were good, the accoutrements with the cod were the true standout. Amazing and I could probably eat two of them. As the restaurant operates on a seasonal menu, we had a strawberry rhubarb cobbler for dessert. I know there is Sunday Brunch, and I can't wait to try it. It's not the cheapest, but it's one of the nicer restaurants in Whatcom, and is definitely worth your pennies. The red pepper risotto however was a little overwhelming in the red pepper flavor. My husband thought it was delicious and ate it. The pierogis seemed really underwhelming and store bought. It was cheese pierogis with mushroom and arugula on the outside. I feel like if they were made in-house, the mushroom would be on the inside. They were still really good and I ate them all as well. The brunch is the thing I waited for. The lemon ricotta pancakes were to die for! They were so perfectly soft and cakey. I sadly couldn't eat them all because they were so large so I recommend sharing. Those were definitely the star of the show. I don't plan to come back to this area but if I do I would 100% come here again for the brunch. The dinner menu does change by season so I recommend looking at the menu online.
