Long story short, I had never tried acupuncture before and came into my first appointment with a multitude of complaints. I had been especially struggling with eczema and anxiety. Dr. Rivera made me feel at-ease with the process of acupuncture and recommended a course of treatment. After weekly treatments for a little over 2 months, there is a night and day difference. My eczema has healed to the point where I no-longer need to use steroid creams. My anxiety levels have lowered so much that I no-longer need to have regular therapy sessions. Dr. Rivera has also helped balance my digestive system, hormones and much more. She has even recommended diet and lifestyle changes that have made such a big difference in how I feel. I feel so much more in-control of my body and I would recommend Dr. Rivera to all of my friends!

But there is a ton of everything you could possibly want, medicinally. And it's all so clean and neat; nothing is cluttered, dusty, or junky. I was a little overwhelmed because I didn't know where to start, and honestly, I just wanted one of everything. But my pockets reminded me that I'm not carrying Queen funds, so I centered myself and zoned in on essential oils. I am having issues with spiders entering my new work vehicle somehow. It's brand new, so no food or anything to attract them. I read and heard that peppermint oil would help deter them. The store had plenty of peppermint oils, along with eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, etc. They sell the BeNatu brand at $19.99 for a 4oz glass bottle. You can get this exact brand/bottle/size at Wally World or Crimezon for $9.99, but I'd rather spend twice the money to support local. Before I left town, I went back and bought 4 more bottles. (SN: The oils absolutely helped. Haven't seen a spider inside the car for the past 2 weeks!) I love and prefer natural remedies, so the next time I'm in the Chi, I'll shop for more than just the essential oils. I didn't take any pictures inside the store because it felt a little rude to do so. But the staff was nice and offered warm smiles. They have many imported items, so naturally the inscriptions are in varying languages. If you have questions, just ask. If you're going into Chinatown, turn west on Cermak, and they are located about halfway down that block. Settled on Dr. Leigh as the location is convenient and consultation was free and thorough. Dr. Leigh is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Office manager Shaun is very pleasant and great at managing your bookings. Office is located off Armitage. I usually bike. Parking can be tricky because Armitage is going though construction. So give yourself time if driving a car. Some free parking located nearby but usually full. Office is clean and feels sanitized. Masks are required in general areas. Can remove mask during treatment. Note that near L (western/Milwaukee stop) so can be good for transportation but also can hear in treatment room if that is a concern. It doesn't bother me, I was still able to fall asleep during my treatment. That was a good nap, heating light is a blessing. I have had four sessions so far. Attending 1x a week (cost is $85 a session) I can tell the difference the acupuncture is making in my anxiety and tightness in my ligaments. I have had a few physical releases and that was reassuring to feel that things are moving. Also the cupping that Dr. Leigh did on my back was phenomenal. Unknown if acupuncture is helping with fertility. However, Dr. Leigh knows my cycle better than I do and she is been a good support while going through fertility treatments. Will continue to utilize this medical support.

After a year and a half of medical symptoms and unknown issues, every type of imaging and testing known to humankind plus a surgery, and after visits with 6 different specialists, I was getting no answers and no relief. It seemed like western medicine had reached its limits, so I decided to pursue more eastern methods. Siri was very thorough in her intake and was careful to get the full picture of my physical and emotional health. Initially I was very sensitive to acupuncture but she was quick to make necessary adjustments and has been very attuned to my body's reactions and what it can handle, week-to-week. She seems genuinely interested in helping address my overall well-being and is just a lovely person with warm and calming energy. I've had acupuncture with 3 different practitioners before this, and she is far and away the best person I've worked with. If you are looking for a caring and intuitive person to help address ongoing or mysterious medical issues, I can't recommend her enough.

Then, looking at local reviews on Yelp, I stumbled on Lee's Herbs Acupuncture. Dr. Li was prompted in returning my initial phone call to discuss my symptoms and I was able to set up an appointment next day. Upon examining my skin, it was determined I have allergies to certain food I eat. My work-related stress level was also a main contributor to the severity of my problems. With no other alternatives, I decided to try acupuncture and drink Chinese herbal tea for the first time. I took the opportunity of my weekly acupuncture sessions to relax and clear my mind. Drinking the herbal tea daily, on the other hand, was not a pleasant experience even though it helped my issues tremendously. By adding honey as Dr. Li suggested made it bearable. In addition to giving up seafood and spicy foods, I also started using baby shampoo/lotion since most adult beauty products contain harmful chemicals. Five months after my treatment, I am happy to say the symptoms have cleared and I am better at managing my stress level. Dr. Li has an amicable bedside manner. I love the fact that he is patient and willing to listen. Never once did I feel rushed. After the treatments I received, I understand why people from out of state to seek his help. I referred two of my friends to Dr. Li. They are still under his care. I must mention Dr. Li does not working with any insurance company since none will accept his claims. Therefore, the cost may be high depending on the treatment. As of Fall of 2021, he no longer has Sunday appointments. The office is located in a busy commercial/residential area. Street parking is the only option. Keep that in mind when booking your appointment.

My preference is to do chiro before acupuncture, and the office is always willing to do what they can from a scheduling perspective to accommodate my request, which brings us to our first stop, Justin! Embarrassing for me, but I've cried a few times in Justin's face because of aches and pains. Justin always takes his time to listen to my physical woes, and he goes to work to get 'em out. He uses a variety of methods from heat to stim to good 'ol chiropractic adjustments- all with a smile. I definitely feel loosey-goosey and ready to get poked, which brings me to my second stop....Angie! No matter the challenge I bring into the acupuncture room, Angie is ready to meet it. Angie also uses a variety of techniques from different laying positions to stim to heat lamps. PS Angie- where can I get one of those heat lamps for my house??
