Settled on Dr. Leigh as the location is convenient and consultation was free and thorough. Dr. Leigh is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Office manager Shaun is very pleasant and great at managing your bookings. Office is located off Armitage. I usually bike. Parking can be tricky because Armitage is going though construction. So give yourself time if driving a car. Some free parking located nearby but usually full. Office is clean and feels sanitized. Masks are required in general areas. Can remove mask during treatment. Note that near L (western/Milwaukee stop) so can be good for transportation but also can hear in treatment room if that is a concern. It doesn't bother me, I was still able to fall asleep during my treatment. That was a good nap, heating light is a blessing. I have had four sessions so far. Attending 1x a week (cost is $85 a session) I can tell the difference the acupuncture is making in my anxiety and tightness in my ligaments. I have had a few physical releases and that was reassuring to feel that things are moving. Also the cupping that Dr. Leigh did on my back was phenomenal. Unknown if acupuncture is helping with fertility. However, Dr. Leigh knows my cycle better than I do and she is been a good support while going through fertility treatments. I'm so fortunate to have found this place through the recommendation of a friend, and seeing Siri has been remarkably helpful. I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review. I have been going here since Leigh and Emily first opened and had a flyer at the Logan Square farmers market. From day one I connected with the place and found it was a comforting and nurturing experience. Siri has been a wonderful addition for me personally and even after moving away I still find myself going back to EAC because I get the best treatment with the most lasting effects. Since my first time, they have grown to 4 therapists, and I recently had Nicole treat me and again, the same wonderful warm treatment. Every treatment gives me the energy I need to help combat the fatigue I often feel from my Lupus. If I could go every day I would! They intuitively know what you need and don't look at you as an "add on" for more modalities. Whatever you need is what they will prescribe and do for you. I have been coming to Essential Acupuncture since August 1 and have seen some fantastic results. First off, it must be stated that Leigh is the absolute best. She is one of the most caring individuals I have ever met and is a master of her craft. Although after work traffic can make the trip a bit of a hassle from the South Loop I would never consider going elsewhere. Initially, I went to Essential Acupuncture on referral from my massage therapist at Allyu (I refuse to provide her name, as she is hard to see as it is). I had this big old knot in my shoulder that would not go away. Anytime I had any stress it was like someone was stabbing me. I went to Leigh at Essential Acupuncture and within 3-4 visits it was gone. I "tested" it back a few months ago during a stressful time at work and there was zero stabbing/pain. During each visit, Leigh asks about other health concerns that I have. Without going into detail here, I have to say that she was able with all of them. Okay, we are still working on the nail biting (gross I know) but I have been doing that since I was 6. I guess the greatest compliment I could give is to say that I can see myself going to Essential Acupuncture for years to come. I initially went to emily at Essential Acupuncture in Bucktown about a year and a half ago after I crashed my bike (and body) into a big curb. My md predicted 6months of physical therapy for my shoulder injury and set me up with a sports doc that couldn't fit me in until the following week. So, upon a friend's recommendation, I took a detour to Emily. In the first week I had 2 appointments and a noticeable improvement in pain management and increased mobility. I cancelled the appt with the doc. Five or six more visits, I was good to go. As far as the experience, I have to say Emily was pitch perfect. I've had acupuncture before and have had decent experiences. This issue was my most serious, and I'm so glad I went to Emily, who has a bedside manner fit for anyone. After we set goals for treatment, she explained her process and held my hand (not literally, but I'm sure she would of, had I asked) throughout our time together. She's a very delicate needler and introduced me to new things - cupping, in particular, was awesome. Recently, I had a minor run-in with a car and needed some treatment for a strained muscle. I have loved each visit to essential acupuncture. I've been there for both acupuncture and massage and have felt instantly better by the end of each appointment. Mia is such a wonderful massage therapist. I think the word therapist is important because her massages are therapeutic AND relaxing. I began my treatment with Siri Michel at Essential Acupuncture Chicago last year. When I entered the office, I was greeted first by the pleasant scent of sage in the air, and then by Siri. I had fallen and fractured a vertebra. Siri knew the clinical issues and was able to relieve my pain over a few months. She also worked on body areas that were painful for other reasons. I have continued to see Emily throughout my pregnancy. She is great at what she does - knowledgeable, caring, and intuitive.
