Please, please, stay away from this place…read more I had a cleaning and needed some fillings, but the experience was so rushed and painful that I had to leave after the first filling. I genuinely hope others avoid this place--you deserve better than this. The good: Booking was straightforward. My appointment was at 9:00 am, and I was seen around 9:05. X-rays were quick and efficient. The bad: The actual dental procedure didn't begin until around 10:40. Once it started, everything felt rushed. Numbing cream was applied, but they barely turned around before administering the anesthetic injection. The injection was painful. From what I understand, the injection typically takes several minutes to take effect, but the dentist began the procedure within about three minutes. I don't believe the anesthetic had fully kicked in--it was painful. To make things worse, the assistant jammed the water spray and suction hard into my gums. I had trouble breathing while trying to tolerate the pain. Imaging going through this just for a simple procedure. After just one filling, I decided to stop the treatment. I paid my copay at the front desk and left. Shortly after I got home, I received a call from the office saying I had a balance due. Apparently, when they removed the two unfinished fillings from the bill, they also removed the deductible. I would have appreciated a simple acknowledgment that this was their mistake. Instead, the call began with them stating I owed money--implying I hadn't paid before leaving. It was frustrating, especially after an already painful and uncomfortable visit.

But she took my call and had me laughing in no time, which really helped because I was in so much pain. A little backstory, my braces were removed in 2021. A year later, my permanent retainer was moving my teeth. My orthodontist took full blame and put braces on the bottom of my teeth to correct them. The process was finished in April. Well, the left side of my head and face became very painful. The orthodontist said the retainer mold was wrong and replaced that... Fast forward, I moved to Texas, and now I'm at the doctor's because my face is swollen, and on to the Berkeley Eye Center. I'll spare you the rest. So now, I have the kindest woman named Sherri on the phone, who I consider a friend now. She told me to come on in, she'll send the paperwork through email, and she'll see me at two. She didn't stop there; once I got there and finished the exam, I thought I had to come back for them to put the proper braces on. Nope, Sherri said we can do the braces today, and they did! Highlands Dental charged a fair amount to have a crown put on a molar. The dentist explained what she was doing and why and did a wonderful job. They even gave me a kit to reglue the temporary crown in case it came off over the holidays. I highly recommend this dentist.
